I have a Cisco E1200 router that is currently running firmware version 1.0.03 build4 Mar 1, 2012. Can I upgrade to the latest version 2 firmware ? How do I know if my router hardware will support it ?
View 4 RepliesI just purchased a new E1200 router with firmware version 2.0.01 and downloaded the latest version 2.0.03 and tried to install it through the router. When I choose the downloaded file and try to start upgrade I immediately get an error "The Image File is Incorrect". I redownloaded it and tried again with the same error. how to get past this and upgrade the firmware?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to upgrade the firmware on my Linksys v1 router from 1.0.02 to 1.0.03 over a remote 56Kb circuit. I appear to be having a timeout problem. The upgrade always fails. I have upgraded several E1200s in my office over ethernet, and the upgrade appears to finish when the progress bar is at 15%. However, on my remote upgrade, the progress bar gets to 98%, hangs for a few more seconds, and then pops up a window with "Upgrade failed".
I suspect that there is a timeout on the upgrade process, and that I can't upload the 3.8 MB firmware file fast enough. If so, is there any way to increase the upgrade timeout?
IPV4 IP addresses will be running out in less than a year and I wanted to know, will there be a firmware update for WRT120N to support IPV6?
Also, if I have to buy another router to support IPV6, I'm going to buy a D-Link. It's nothing personal, I just find it absolutely idiotic that a router that supports wireless-N doesn't support IPV6. You have to ask your self, how does the standard IPV6 spec thats a few years old not make it to the final product of a router, but a non-standard wireless-N spec implementation somehow got the O.K....?
I made the change WAG120G (GREAT) for WAG120N (**bleep**) and I confess that I was somewhat disappointed, the quality of the company fell dramatically. Unlike its predecessor this modem / router is bad in many ways and first of them is support for Macintosh products, the connection drops constantly and have to get on and off the wifi to work. The modem restarts and constantly drops the connection status and its predecessor NEVER did that. iPad, iPhone and Macbook can not even keep me surfing for more than one hour, the connection just stops working. Even the cable connection, my Xbox sometimes worth it to maintain a stable connection in Live. The modem has been updated with the latest firmware version (1.0.0.16). View 9 Replies View Relatedi'm having connection issues requiring frequent reboots of my router. it starts with internet slowdown to a crawl, then it times out and lastly the webinterface is not even responding when i try to access it to reboot. Requiring me to manually unplug. this happens once a day atleast.
Sometimes it recovers after a few minutes and get on the net.i've tried flashing, reflashing, re-reflashing , resetting , re-resetting, to no end. And all the usual tricks tech support ask to do.

I have a little problem with my new E1200. Before the E1200 I had a WRT160N that was bricked to death by a power surge due upgrading the firmware. Till that moment the WRT160N met al the required specs as told in the description..I have from my ISP a 40Mbit cable line and was always downloading at those speeds wired aswell as wireless...

I bought a new E1200 this fall when I got a new Internet provider who recommended it to replace my really old one. It worked fine until a month or so ago when it would occasionally disconnect. At first I thought it was my Internet company but I started using the Cisco Connect app to fix it after restarting the router. The first time it worked great for about 2 weeks, but a few days ago it started disconnecting several times a day. Now it doesn't last 10 minutes before it quits. View 5 Replies View Relatedthe only way i can get 300mbps from this router is by having these settings, it seems the only valid settings to get 300mbps from the router are the following:
Network Mode: mixed
Channel Width: auto (20mhz or 40mhz)
Channel : 1
if i leave the channel to auto it won't show up as 300.on top of that it doesn't want to stay at 300mbps for very long, sometimes its max rate in inSSDer is only 144 or 156mbps. its the weirdest thing, i think this version of the firmware seems to forget to check for how fast its wireless transmit speed is.When it reboots it only transmits at 144 or 156mbps. i have to go in the basic wireless page and just save the settings to reset it to 300, i don't even have to change anything, it resets its max rated speed back up to 300mbps.and more importantly, are the devs aware of this problem for the e1200 v2 ?
Started a upgrade of my firmware to Ver.2.0.03 (Build 10) for the E1200 H/W v2 and at 98% it stalled this was over wired connection and via http not https.
I'm really disappointed which this router because in all honesty its been one of the slowest I have ever bought whereas the Wireless-N doesn't truly work with N speeds being like 3-9Mbps where if I disable WMM and switch to B/G Only then my speeds jump to 20-30Mbps.
I was asked to connect directly to the modem to be sure that it worked before beginning to install the E1200. When I connect my laptop (Win7) to an available wired ethernet port on my WR54GS I can connect to the internet. If I unplug the internet input to the router from the modem and connect that to my computer, I do not get an internet connection. I am using a Motorolla SB5120 modem connected to comcast.

I just updated the firmware today, made adjustments to the MTU range to suit cable service and selected a different channel (9) as the neighbors were mostly on channels 2 and 6.My question is really in regard to the speed results of the router. In the immediate room where the router is located I am getting 17.6 Mbs download speed/ 3.53 upload speeds but if I move to my living room - less than 20 feet away and a few walls - the upload speed drops sharply to 3.21 Mbs download/3.21Mbs uploas.I have read where the router placement can be key. My router is sitting on the desktop. If I elevate the router will it improve performance 20 feet away or should I invest in upgraded router like a E3200 or look into a plug in type repeater?

View 2 Replies View RelatedLooking into a firmware upgrade. I have a WRT160N. The label on the back, next to Model Number, simply says WRT160N with no version number. I therefore conclude, per info on the Cisco site, that it is a V1 model, not V2 or V3. And yet the Admin web page for the router says firmware version is 3.0.02. I'm pretty confident I have never upgraded firmware on this router, which means this is how it came out of the box long ago. Latest firmware for V1 is 1.02.11; latest firmware for V3 is 3.0.03.
Should I upgrade to 3.0.03? Is there a way to downgrade to 1.02.11? I'm having some minor issues whch may or may not be the ruter's fault, I figure a firmware upgrade (downgrade?) will at least rule out router firmware issues.

I went to the download section of the linksys website, and it does show that there is an update there, but I have read in alot of places that the update downloads are in a zip file. WEll it definately wasnt in a zip file, and all it did was download a strange file and there was nothing to install or anything. My router is still on the blitz, and going down every few minutes and I am having to restart just to have it go down again. firmware update for this router?

The main router is not connecting to the internet, yet the 2 wireless adapters for their other 2 computers are! It shows that the main one has a connection but when you bring up any Internet Browser it says it can't find the connection. We've checked the settings and they are all correct. We even turned the firewall off and that didn't work!

I did the firmware update on the E4200 router about 2 weeks ago so my son could use his xbox when he got home after 4 months of being away. Everything seemed to work OK as far as I could tell....but when he went to sign into xbox live and watch Netflix, it will load to 98% and stop. A friend of his came over with the new Slim xbox 360 with built in wireless and it will connect fine on its own, if we hook up one of the 610N's to it, it will load to 98% on Netflix and stop again with error code R8152. Both of my older xbox's will hook up and play on xbox live, just not work with Netflix.
I also noticed, it shows the WET610N as a hard wire on xbox and will not search for any wireless networks, I have 2. The newer Slim xbox360 will search out both networks on its own if you allow it to use its internal wireless. This only happened since the firmware update. And this equipment was working fine before this. Is there a way I can restore the previous version of firmware?

As I have zero intention of ever using Cisco Cloud Connect, I would need to stick with the Classic firmware. While Cisco did quickly push out a solution to get the routers back to Classic after the initial Cloud Connect deployment fiasco, I cannot seem to find any commitment from Cisco to continue to support the classic interface (other than "“Cisco will continue to support both local and cloud management options for our customers.”). Even more disconcerting is that the current evidence seems to indicate that they are not. [code]
So, while I do understand that many of the updates have been Cloud Connect specific, some of these changes are in fact global/driver updates. As an example, according to the release notes, on June 25, 2012 the EA3500 CCC firmware v.1.1.38 (Build 138143) updated the WiFi driver, apparently the Classic never received this update.
I would like to upgrade the firmware for my WRT54GS V2.1 router however, I only see versions 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, etc.. There is no 2.1 listed, so does this mean I can use the v2.0 firmware?

I am unable to open the admin webpage. I can get to the login page on 192.168.1.1, after i enter the admin password the next page doesn't load. It keeps showing 'Waiting' at the center of the page forever.. I have tried to do the 30/30/30 reset to no avail, i tried to do tftp downgrade to older firmware version but the tftp boot doesn't even start. Is there any other way i can either fix the current firmware upgrade or downgrade it to the previous version?

I tried doing it through my router settings under administration -> firmware upgrade but it won't update automatically. I have to find the actual update file and update the firmware through that.
