I just recently updated my firmware on my linksys router WRT54G with the new version of linksys firm ware and now my router does not work. I can not access the GUI under the ip address 192.168.1.1. I 've tried to reboot the router using the 30/30 method that is suggested by Linksys, but I still can not access the routers GUI.
I cannot connect to the internet via the wireless network from my router. Currently, I can connect to the wireless network, however I cannot access the internet, but I am able to access the internet with an Ethernet cable in the same router.†This is a fairly recent development as we have used this router for wireless internet access (our modem has a wireless network built into it, but it is unreliable) for upwards of 8 months now without problem. One day it simple restored itself to the default name and we were no longer able to access the internet through the wireless portion.
Looking into a firmware upgrade. I have a WRT160N. The label on the back, next to Model Number, simply says WRT160N with no version number. I therefore conclude, per info on the Cisco site, that it is a V1 model, not V2 or V3. And yet the Admin web page for the router says firmware version is 3.0.02. I'm pretty confident I have never upgraded firmware on this router, which means this is how it came out of the box long ago. Latest firmware for V1 is 1.02.11; latest firmware for V3 is 3.0.03.   Should I upgrade to 3.0.03? Is there a way to downgrade to 1.02.11? I'm having some minor issues whch may or may not be the ruter's fault, I figure a firmware upgrade (downgrade?) will at least rule out router firmware issues.
We were hit by hurricane Sandy a couple weeks ago and lost power for a week and a half. Now that our cable has been restored I noticed that the wireless internet wasn't working. The wired internet works fine to this computer but no Wi-fi.I think the problem is the routers default gateway. It's supposed to be 192.168.1.1 but right now it's 18.104.22.168 .So far I have tried:
-Powercycling everything -ipconfig/ flush DNS -ipconfig/ release and ipconfig/renew -Checking all the wires are pugged in fine (They are).
It appears that there is no firmware I can download for my WRT54GL Version 1.1. While it may never have been updated from what the router came with from the factory, it would still be useful to have it available. In my case, I would like to revert the router from the DD-WRT firmware to factory specs.
I am needing to update the firmware for my router. befw1154 version 4. I went to the download section of the linksys website, and it does show that there is an update there, but I have read in alot of places that the update downloads are in a zip file. WEll it definately wasnt in a zip file, and all it did was download a strange file and there was nothing to install or anything. My router is still on the blitz, and going down every few minutes and I am having to restart just to have it go down again. firmware update for this router?
what is latest firmware version is for router WRT 160n (v1). The Linksys site currently states that it is Ver.1.02.11 (11/08/10). However, on the admin page for my actual router it states v1.52.0 Nov 16, 2007.  These versions #s and dates don't jive. How could I have a supposedly newer version that is older than the most recent one posted?
I am trying to assist my sister with her BEFW11S4 Wireless Router.  It has been working fine until this week!  The Firmwre is version 1.50.  The  main router is not connecting to the internet, yet the 2 wireless adapters for their other 2 computers are!  It shows that the main one has a connection but when you bring up any Internet Browser it says it can't find the connection.  We've checked the settings and they are all correct. We even turned the firewall off and that didn't work!
I have an E4200 router with 3 WET610N access points.  I did the firmware update on the E4200 router about 2 weeks ago so my son could use his xbox when he got home after 4 months of being away.  Everything seemed to work OK as far as I could tell....but when he went to sign into xbox live and watch Netflix, it will load to 98% and stop.  A friend of his came over with the new Slim xbox 360 with built in wireless and it will connect fine on its own, if we hook up one of the 610N's to it, it will load to 98% on Netflix and stop again with error code R8152.  Both of my older xbox's will hook up and play on xbox live, just not work with Netflix.
I also noticed, it shows the WET610N as a hard wire on xbox and will not search for any wireless networks, I have 2.  The newer Slim xbox360 will search out both networks on its own if you allow it to use its internal wireless.  This only happened since the firmware update.  And this equipment was working fine before this.  Is there a way I can restore the previous version of firmware?
I have a Cisco E1200 router that is currently running firmware version 1.0.03 build4 Mar 1, 2012. Can I upgrade to the latest version 2 firmware ? How do I know if my router hardware will support it ?
I was just online when all of a sudden i lost connection. I have a WRT54G V8 and did a quick little browse and found out it could be corrupted firmware. When i download the firmware it wants to download as a .bin file and open VLC Media player!? How do i change this or what do I need to open it with?
I go to the support page for the WRT54G routers. I set the version number to version 2 and there is no firmware file to download. For every other version there is a firmware file to download but not for version 2. Where can I get the latest firmware for my router.
This seems to be an epidemic issue with LinkSys routers (with me myself running in the third such issue). This time, I would require the original firmware of the WRT54 ver. 4 series. Download links in older threads have 404d already.
I was playing with the router/gateway settings on my WRT54G v3.1 router....  and I managed to hose it.  I tried power cycling/ resetting it will not route my traffic through anymore...although i can still get to the setup menu.I am trying to download the firmware to flash it but.   A) the site says that for this v3.1 router I need to use the ancient firmware 4.21.1 and   B) the link to the firmware does not work !!!  it downloads an empty zip file url...   linksys support, if you are listening, please restore the link to the firmware  so I can try and fix my router.
In hopes of fixing some "flaky" connection issues with my WRT54G V2 Wireless Router, I downloaded and applied the new firmware version released on 08/18/2011, Ver.4.21.4 for my Version 2 Router. I downloaded, went through the application process using the router's firmware update process, it said it was successful and then the router restarted and didn't work. Couldn't ping the address, constant flashing Power light, no response at all from router. Tried again, same result. Performed hard reset, same result. Tried a few other recovery techniques found on the web with no success. Finally I did the process found here [URL] This reset the router and I re-uploaded this same 2011 version. Router still broken. I ran through the process again after downloading an older version of the firmware, specifically version V3.1_4.00.7, the upload ran, and the router worked again! This was proof to me that the newest version completely BRICKED my router. I'm so relieved I was able to reset the router and manually recover, but most will never try this. I recommend Cisco retest this ASAP and pull the new release for the V2 router until they get this resolved!
My Linksys WRT54G router has been dropping out lately and I've been recommended to update its firmware as it is very out-of-date. Well, everytime I try to upgrade the firmware to it, I get an error message that says "the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." I'm trying to upgrade the firmware through the router's site 192.168.1.1 under the adminstration tab
I have a wrt54g (8.1) that was acting a little funny so did some googling and followed the instructions to install new firmware. First the installation failed, double checked to make sure I downloaded the correct file (FW_WRT54G_8.1.09.02_US_20071227.bin), did a reset and power cycle.  Checked the information again and everything on the router setup completely disappeared.
I upgraded my WRT54G ver. 2 with the latest linksys firmware update (4.30.5). My previous firmware was 2. something. After the process i lost internet connection and i can't no longer access my router. I tried to reset the router to factory defaults by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds, but nothing happened. I also turned everything off and on again, but still nothing happened.
Is there a way to restrict wireless access to my router from wireless pc's in my home. Two grandsons are off from school now, and are playing online games to the wee hours of the morning. Can I do something to have the routher shut off their connection at a certain time? Is that possible. If I have to go back to dd-wrt to do that, fine. I have lynksis wrt54g with their 4.2.1 firmware.
I have tried to upgrade the firmware to the latest greatest but keep getting the "Incorrect image file" error.  I bought two of the V1 units and had no trouble with one of them but the other is frustrating me.  I have reset it and even tried a tftp upgrade of the firmware but still get "Incorrect image file" even in tftp.
I'm attempting to upgrade to firmware 5.00.38 for my WRT54G-TM router, but it keeps telling me "upgrade failed" after like 3-4 seconds of trying. It says I currently have firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/13/09) mega - build 12288. I've tried restetting to factory defaults before upgrading, but doesn't work.
I have an old wrt54g (version 2) which I just downloaded and installed the latest firmware (4.21.4) and now its dead!!!!   factory reset does nothing, cannot connect via a wired connection, nothing.  All the lights work fine.
just troed to update FIRMWARE re our WRT54G_v2   current FIRMWAREFirmware Version: v3.37.7   downloaded and tried to run 130228dl_LINKSYS_FW_WRT54Gv4_4.21.5.000_20120220.bin   BUT got msg' Upgrade are failed!;
I ran the firmware upgrade and hit the reset button for 30 seconds and everything went well until I went to restore my personal settings.  When I went to the router page it asked for a user name and password but the old user name and password don't work so I am locked out and can't get to the restore page.
