View 9 RepliesI have a Wireless router & two network extender from Cisco RE1000.I need to connect them to reach a distance over 150 feet. can I connect an extender to another & to the router?I tried this setup but I keep loosing the connection. it might be the router it self or the tow wireless extenders unable to communicate probably.I need some advise if the two extenders cannot be connected to each other, what are the possibilities.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy parents have a E4200 and we were trying to extend the wifi with a couple of Netgear WN1000RP extenders. DHCP is setup on the router and is serving out IP addresses and dns correctly to all devices except to the extenders. They connect to the router correctly via wifi, but they never pick up the default gateway ip (router's ip address) which means its not possible to access the internet via the extended network.I've just tried them on my network at home were i'm using a DLINK 605 router running DD-WRT v2-sp2 and they worked fine. The extender picked up the gateway address and I can access the internet through it no problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just set up a brand new LinksysE4200 router at one end of my home, and a Linksys RE1000 range expander at the other end in order to provide full WiFi coverage to my entire house. Everything is working great except for one important detail.. There is currently no way to disable SSID broadcast on the RE1000 range expander! I just flashed it with the latest firmware (v1.0.01 build 2, Jul 22, 2011) , but I'm still unable to disable it, even though it is disabled on the E4200 from which it's receiving the signal it's rebroadcasting. I am seriously considering returning the RE1000. Linksys. add the ability to disable SSID broadcast on the RE1000 in a (not too distant) future firmware upgrade! As far as I'm concerend, this is a MUST HAVE feature in order for this product to even be considered for use in any sensitive network environment.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirstly I cannot get my Linksys RE1000 to work with my network having tried the set up CD on 2 computers (mac and windows). The main router is a BT Home Hub 2.0
The main router is in the basement where out internet connection enters the house, also in the basement is our LAN board where we have ethernet cables extending to parts of the house. There is weak wireless signal from groundfloor up to the top floor so wanted to find something where I could plug into the ethernet port and it would broadcast an wireless network to the upper floors/areas with a weaker signal. Thought the RE1000 would do this job but i can't get it to do it wirelessly let alone connect it to the main router using a ethernet cable.
I am having a setup problem with the RE1000. When I plug it in, my laptop is able to see it, and I'm able to access it and attempt to set it up. However, once I tell it how to connect to my main wireless router, and it attempts to log onto my wireless network, the RE1000 disappears from my list of networks. My blu-ray player also cannot see it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an RE1000 between my EA3500 router and two Panasonic WiFi network cameras. Sometimes the two cameras appear in the RE1000 Wireless Clients Table, sometimes one appears, and sometimes none appear. It looks like the cameras jump between the RE1000 and the EA3500. When this jump occurs, I loose connection to the cameras. If I restart the camera, it sometimes works but not always. When I disconnect the RE1000 it works OK because both cameras always use the EA3500. But the signal is very weak.
What do I need to do to get my EA3500 and RE1000 to work well with my two Panasonic network cameras?
Note that I am using 802.11b/g on the router and cameras.
I recently installed an RE1000, which seemed to be working fine. Then, on 3 PC's with no wireless adapter installed we began being prompted for user name and password for the wireless router. Once I unplugged to extender the problem went away. I know what you're thinking: Maybe I just think there's no wireless adapter on these PC's. NO, I looked in device manager and the only network adapter installed is the ethernet adapter. These are all 4+ year old machines with no hardware changes made to them. Wireless adapters are not necessarily standard issue on old towers--even on new towers. The Acer I'm using right now was purchased new in November 2011 and did not come with a wireless adapter installed.

I have attached a 320GB USB 5400 rpm hard drive to the router as NAS storage. The router is running 2.00.01 build 15 firmware. I get frequent drop-outs when transferring large files. Tonight I've been trying to transfer a 4.36GB file to the drive from my PC. I've tried several times. At exactly the same time, with about 377MB to transfer I get a message saying 'There is a problem accessing Z: make sure you are connected to the network and try again'.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am very pleased with my purchase of the E3000 so far. However, one function seems to allude me. One of the main reasons for purchasing this router was because of its Media Server functionality. I wanted to be able to stream to my UPnP devices (ps3, xbox360, etc) without having to keep my power hog of a PC running. I have set up the HD using the Storage tab of the Advanced Router Settings, and created several Shares on the Media Server tab. The good news is that I am able to access the share on my PS3. The bad news is that I can't on my Xbox360s. As the Xbox360s has built in wireless N, I would really like to be able to stream to that system.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm loosing about 40GB of data. If worst comes to worst i might go with another brand of router instead as i don't wanna waste a lot of money again as i currently feel i have with the E4200. Enough whining, here is my problem. The FTP and Media Server feature works nicely. I have a 2TB USB 2.0 HDD attached to the router's USB port. I use it for images and my music collection ripped there so i can play it all from my PS3 and TV. I also have many GB of video recordings and converted DVD discs for easier access. (And no, before anyone speaks of piracy, it IS legal, at least in my country, to back up your legit media) Now, everything worked fine, until one day after a few weeks, the router hanged for some reason so i decided to reboot it. To my disappointment it also wiped video and audio from my HDD which really got me pissed as i lost all track of what i had on the HDD. The Media Server was also having connection issues once in a while so i decided to update the firmware from 1.0.00 to 1.0.03. It immediately fixed the connection issues of the Media Server. Another noticeable change is that files transferred via FTP will show immediately via the Media Server without the need to update the database via the router as i needed to do in 1.0.00. Now today there was a power loss in the neighbourhood so the router went dead along with the HDD. To my big disappointment, everything was gone from the HDD when i started it up again. Images, music, video and even my application backups etc. It was just plain empty except for the root folders. I have done a few tests and figured that even if the HDD stays on, cutting the power to the router will wipe the connected HDD. What's up with that? Even a silly Windows PC wont nuke your files that much if an accessed HDD was disconnected while in use. Do i really need a UPS system for the router and safely disconnect the HDD from the router via the user interface every day? If so, the concept of having a router with these nice features is really useless and money theft in my opinion.

However, when I come in through the Internet via an iOS device, I can see folders but when I try to enter the folder, all I get is a message that displays "|Folder|Enter Into Folder|Select|. There is no click-through capability other than "Return to Upper Folder", which takes me back to folders.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently installed some wireless IP cameras and when attempting to re-install a camera I went into the DHCP Client table to verify which IP a camera was using to set it up, but I could not...and still cannot see any of my cameras in the table even though I can access three of them directly through the IE web browser. I initially power cycled both the E4200 router and Motorola cable modem, and then later just the wireless router...but I still do not see the devices connected. I currently have 2.0.37 firmware even though I was told by Cisco support that there was a later version available, just before being informed that I do not have support available and could purchase it. I attempted to locate a newer version, but the online upgrade portion of the Cisco Connect software searched the net and then states that I have the latest version available. I also opened a Firefox browser to see if maybe my browser was causing issues, but the same limited table appears without all entries available. I even opened the Cisco Connect software on another laptop with the same limited results. Other than a factory reset, get me E4200 dual band wireless router to show all attached devices through the DHCP Client table as it previously did approximately two weeks ago?

I also have a second VPN router attached to the 4200.I can see the wireless connected devices with the associated IP addresses. If I plug a laptop directly into the Cisco, I can of course see it.However, I can see none of the devices attatched to the powerline devices? I have a securty cam connected via the powerline and want to know the IP address. I checked with cisco technical support via chat and they said it is impossible. Searching for answers in the internet, I found how to set the WDS (available on the RV110W) :
A Wireless Distribution System (WDS) is a system that enables the wireless interconnection of access points in a network. It allows a wireless network to be expanded using multiple access points without the need for a wired backbone to link them.
Can I do it with my equipments, or I have to buy the WAP4410N?
I recently bought a Cisco RE1000 wireless repeater to boost the wireless signal to my garage office. Since then the signal has been intermittent, fluctuating between strong and weak signals, sometimes dropping off completely. Today I finally uplugged it, and the signal strength seems the same, even steadier, though that could be just the way the wind is blowing today.
How do I know if I'm picking up the wireless or repeater signal? Could it be interfering with my basic signal? How do I know which signal I'm getting?
I have a WAG160N wireless gateway . Yesterday when i tried to power it on after a couple of seconds the power led was solid green and the Ethernet leds were blinking with no Ethernet cable attached to the router . The ethernet leds would keep blinking for minutes . I tried to use a screwdriver to do a hardware reset ( with power on ) and i noticed that the power led would start blinking green/red for minutes . I tried to use another wired router which i have for backup and it could connect to the internet normally without a problem.
What the green / red blinking power led means ( power led is green and then changes to red and then it starts over ) ?
A few weeks ago, I bought a Linksys AE2500 wireless adapter, and it's worked fine up until a few days ago. A few days ago, when I turned on my computer, I could not connect to the internet. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, but I am denied every time; the message I get is "A device attached to the system is not functioning".I've tried connecting to the internet with my other wireless box I used prior to getting the AE2500 and I cannot connect with that, either. The only way I can connect on this computer is with an ethernet cable.

Im trying to setup a cable modem which is also a router that has a printer attached to one of its lan ports. From there it connects to another router which connects to other clients from there i have another router with a VPN connection with other clients. I would like to be able to see everyone on the network. How do I setup the routers in particular the router with the vpn which is the last router. Also the vpn router is connected through its WAN port to the router ahead of it at its lan port so it can use its VPN connection. If it makes it easier lets ignore the cable modem as router and ill find the printer another way of connecting but essentially i need the two other routers for two ip addresses. One for the first router with my regular IP and then the other is for VPN IP.
