Linksys Wireless Router :: How WRT610N Firmware Run Devices Externally
Sep 4, 2011I have various wireless devices in the house, some of which (smartphone and Windows 7 laptop are working fine, but all of the devices using my WET610N can only see devices in the house, not externally. I also tried updating the WET610N to latest firmware (1.0.04) but still no luck. Has something changes in the WRT610N configuration panels that I need to turn on to allow this?

Jan 3, 2012I have a WRT610N which does not allow me to connect any new devices to the wireless network. This is a recent problem as I have been able to connect new devices before. Devices on the wireless network, those that have been on the network, are able to disconnect and reconnect. Just new devices are excluded. Have gone through the admin screens to see if something is amiss but can not find anything.

Dec 21, 2012On my EA4500 i've given my Sony Google TV Box (connected by wifi N) a static ip address under "DHCP Reservations". However is there any way to add a DNS server address to this reserved IP so that only the Google Box is affected by the DNS, all the other connected devices remain unaffected? Presently i enter the required DNS address in the google box but i would prefer to do it on the EA4500. I'm using the latest Cisco Cloud fw on my router.

ISP router has one address of (for argument sake) 1.1.1.0/30 net, - let's say they have 1.1.1.1 we have the other usable address of 1.1.1.2/30 assigned to our 3825 router. Is it possible to use hsrp or vrrp if there is not two valid/unique "wan" IPs to assign to our routers? For example, if we had a pair of 3825 routers? are we stuck with basically a manual failover or requesting our isp to provide a larger address wan block?

The configuration of the desktop i use is - Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1, IE 9.0 and Chrome -23 Dual core Pentium, 2.5 GHZ, 2GB RAM Issue - Many websites, perticularly secured (HTTPS) are not opening up with new router. (Net banking, yahoo mail etc) I didn't face any issue with my old router which is WRT54GH, it is quite old router and did work excellent and working also. I had two calls with CISCO support team, they did check everything and came to conclusion that the issue is with router and asked to get it replaced. I did that but facing same issue. This time i connected my friends laptop to EA4500 along with my personal desktop. My company laptop has following configuration - Windows 7 Enterprise, IE 8.0 Dual core Pentium, 2.67 GHZ, 2GB RAM I tried yahoo mail, net banking websites on my desktop and friends laptop, these websites didn't open in my desktop but no issues faced on friend's laptop. I also noticed that cisco, apple sites are not opening on my desktop but no issue on friends laptop. I tried same thing with my old router WRT54GH, and all sites opened on both the PCs.

I also have a second VPN router attached to the 4200.I can see the wireless connected devices with the associated IP addresses. If I plug a laptop directly into the Cisco, I can of course see it.However, I can see none of the devices attatched to the powerline devices? I have a securty cam connected via the powerline and want to know the IP address. I checked with cisco technical support via chat and they said it is impossible. I have used 2 previous routers with the same configuration and can see all devices.

May 13, 2012I just bought a certified refurbished router. The model is WRT610N-RM. Where's what I've done:
1. Downloaded newest firmware from the site using old router, Then disconnected. Connected a lan cable to the new router. Powered up the router. Held down reset untill the light blinks. Went to the browser and typed 192.168.1.1. Entered password to go into router and upgraded firmware. 2. 5 Ghz Settings: Went to Wireless menu. Selected "manual", mode is "mixed" (If i chose N only for 5 Ghz, then It won't save my setting for internet security. Instead it will be "disable" no matter what". The rest was default. SSID is enabled. Then I set up the 2.5 Ghz. I have 3 other computers with N wireless card. Some others have G, however when I viewed available networks, I only see the 2.4 Ghz ssid. I tried to reboot and unplug power for 10 seconds, but no luck seeing the 5 Ghz.

The only way I seem to be able to open a port is if I enable remote management. When I do that, whatever port I specifiy as the remote management port is then fully open. Obviously, I can't leave a port exposed like this and, anyway, I need to open multiple ports for my purposes.

Mar 18, 2012I have had no problems with my WRt610N fo 2 years. Yesterday a problem occured and today again. Namely, I opened my laptop (the lid) and suddenly it could not see my network (SSID) among the rest of the neighbouring ones. The WiFi indicator in the tray showed the yellow "!". Since I have another (secondary) router wired to the primary (WRT610N) I tried and succeeded to connect to it (same SSID, but type "g").
Today the same situation. This is the straneg thing - if I 1st connect to the "g" router after a while the WIn7 reports my SSID being of type "gn" meaning it now sees the primary WRT610N. If I switch off the secondary the netowork is maintained by the primary router showing "n". It seems like my laptop cannot see my router (but can see all other networks) until it 1sr connects to the secondary, and afterwards it sees the primary router and can stay with it.

For years now I have not been able to forward ports at all.
