Linksys Wireless Router :: X3000 FW V1.0.03 - Internal Network Not Accessible Via WLAN?

Feb 1, 2013

I am experiencing one, possibly two problems with the X3000, firmware release v1.0.03:

1. When enabling guest mode, the internal network is not accessible via WLAN even for clients NOT connected via guest mode but regularly: Even non-guests but regularly connected clients can't access any internal IP but the router itself. netscan shows only the very client's IP and the router's. Only after switching guest mode entirely off, regularly connected clients can access interal IP again. netscan correctly shows the whole network. Obviously a firmware bug. BTW: Clients connected via cable do not experience this problems.

2. I am not sure about this, but after using the firmware built in "Reboot" button, the router reboots correctly. But for some reason, it is instable afterwards. It is operational for a few seconds but then reboots again. It keeps cycling. I could stop it by switching the router off and on again.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 5505 Can't Connect To Public NAT Address From Internal Network

Dec 19, 2011

I have an ASA 5505 configured with internal network, a DMZ, and a VPN on seperate subnets.  The implicit rules allow my internal client computers to connect to the web servers on the DMZ IP, but I can not connect to the public NAT address from the internal network.  I have a DNS server on my internal network and it does resolve to the public IP correctly.  NAT seems to be working correctly because if I go outside the network and connect to the public IP or qualified name then I can get to everything correctly.  I do not see any messages in the Cisco logs and the packet trace tool shows the route of http from an internal IP adddress  to the external (NATed) address is allowed.

Specifically, I can go to http://192.168.1.121 from the internal (192.168.0/24) network, but I can not go to http://72.22.214.121 (the NAT address) from the internal network.  If I am outside my cisco then I can go to http://72.22.214.121 easily. [code]

Home Network :: Public IP On A LAN Device (in Front Of Router)

Mar 19, 2011

I have a video conferencing device that uses a lot of ports and is very bandwidth intensive. I have been messing around with two routers (cheap ISP Thomson and my Netgear DGND3300v2) settings for a couple of months now and I couldn't get it to work properly (ports were getting blocked randomly). I have recently discovered that Netgear has a "secret" page where you can switch the router to a modem mode. I gave the device a public IP and now it works fine (at least so it seems for now). The thing is, I need to connect another device (my PC) to the device via web interface for monitoring purposes. I am wondering what network arrangement would be best for me. I want the video device to have nothing to do with natting or firewalls at all, I want it to have a public IP. However, I also want to be able to connect to it somehow and also share the connection with my PC.

Cisco Routers :: UC540 - Second Public IP Not Accessible From Inside LAN

Apr 2, 2013

I have a client that just got a second public IP (x.x.x.252) for a new program. I've setup that second IP on their UC540 on the public-facing port and it's accessible all day long from the outside, no problem. The problem comes in where users from within the LAN can't see the new public IP at all; however, they CAN get to the original public IP x.x.x.250. I've looked at the rules every which way and can't see anything that either 1) only allows LAN traffic to get to the original public IP, or 2) a NAT rule that only allows the same thing.

[Disclaimer: I just inherited this client and their setup, so other than me adding the IP and opening ports to it, I didn't program it.]

Here is the port configuration:

!
interface FastEthernet0/0
  description $FW_OUTSIDE$
  ip address 63.234.195.252 255.255.255.248 secondary
  ip address 63.234.195.250 255.255.255.248
  ip access-group 106 in
  no ip redirects
  no ip (code )

I can't figure out why .250 is internally-accessible, but .252 isn't. .252 is in the routing table as a directly-connected address, but I also added ip route 63.234.195.252 255.255.255.255 FastEthernet0/0 to the routing table and it still won't go. Everything is controlled by the UC540: The internal servers do not run DNS or DHCP or even a domain. There are no NAT outside rules.

Netgear Router / Setup An Internal Network In One Room Of A Building?

May 1, 2012

internet provided to whole building with connections in every room -> personal router in my room -> my PCs, Macs & printer, how to set up my computers so that they can share files with each other and print to my network printer, but without being susceptible to being accessed from other computers in the building? I have my own netgear router. But at the moment, my shared folders are accessible by everyone in the building, so is my printer If I set all the computers to automatically set ip by DHCP, they can access the net, but everyone in the building can access them (and my printer which requires a manual ip doesnt work). If I set all the computers to manual addresses (e.g. 192.168.1.14 ... 192.168.1.15 ... 192.168.1.16 etc.) they work with each other, the printer works, its secure, but I can't access the internet! Is there a way to for example have my own internal network with manual ip addresses, while also being able to connect to the net?

I can get it connected by momentarily unplugging the router and rebooting it , then pressing connect button and it will revert to home network and things are ok . It is a netgear DGN1000 and I tried another router same make and model, same problem. I use an ethernet cable on my desktop no problems.there's 3 laptops come in to occasional use and it's happened to them all . My early attempt was microsoft's fix for sticking in public mode . External IP To Internal Device?

Sep 22, 2012

I have a checkpoint Safe@Office 500 firewall router, connected to adsl via another adsl device in bridged mode.We needed to assign an external IP to a device behind the firewall. We contacted the ISP, and now they have assigned an additional IP to our adsl account.I have read from the documentation that:"NAT can be defined automatically via the network object (Node, Network or Address Range). When you define NAT via the network object, rules are automatically added to the Address Translation Rule Base"....so I add the object, with the external IP given to us by our ISP, and the wizard simply complains that the IP address is invalid. My thoughts are that the router does not know about the additional IP provided by our ISP. If so, how do I tell the router that there are other IP addresses available to use? I have rebooted the router, and no luck.

Netgear WGR614v9 - Opening Local Development Web Server To Public

Jan 10, 2012

I have a local web development server that I'd like to open up so my clients can see the sites I build for them. The server is just my old laptop that I now use only as a web server.

I'm having trouble figuring out the port forwarding for this. I have a Netgear WGR614v9. I've configured the server to have a static IP, and have port forwarding sending port 80 over to the server. I've made an exception in Windows Firewall for port 80.

So, from my understanding, I should be able to go to my http://[my public ip], and I should in the least see my servers default site.

I think my problem is that I don't have just one website hosted by Apache. But instead am using Virtual Hosts to have a handful of sites hosted. So what I don't know is how to configure the server to know what site to serve.

I know I'm missing a step with having DNS setup. I haven't gone through that step yet because I thought it wasn't immediately necessary to configure the port forwarding.

Home Network Share Not Accessible But Other One Is

Mar 26, 2011

I have a fairly simple wireless home network. My main desktop machine is running XP Pro, and our family laptop is running XP Home. The laptop shares the My Documents folder for 2 of the 3 profiles. One of them works as it should. It is visible and accessible on the main desktop machine, but the other share is visible but NOT accessible. I get the following error message when I try to explore it from the main desktop machine:

<the share name> is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Access is denied.

I'm not sure when this started, but remember that the other folder being shared is working just fine. I've double and triple checked the settings, share names, and basically anything I could possibly mistype. I've restarted both PCs, and refreshed the network explorer via both the file explorer and My Computer dialog. The My Computer dialog refresh the shares for some reason that the explorer wouldn't, but I'm still denied access to that one share on the laptop.

There are 2 wireless laptops, one running XP home and the other Windows 7.The laptops can talk to each other, and the desktop can talk to the laptops. But I cannot access the desktop from the laptops. I can see the (shared) folders, but when I click on one I get the message: "You might not have permission to use this network resource..Not enough server storage is available to process this command." One solution suggested in several places is to change the IRPStackSize to 15. However, if I start the desktop in safe mode with networking, I can access the files.I can also access the machine using remote desktop. One extra frustration is that this is a problem that has happened relatively recently. It used to work OK.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Internet Accessible But No Network Access

Mar 4, 2011

Internet access is working fine, however I cannot get my computers to work on the network therefore cant share any files or play any network games.  The router is set up as DHCP server therefore IPs are automatically assigned, this is setup on the PCs and the router.  The work group is also set.  Exactly same settings basically as my old router which worked fine but wont on this one!  I have 3 wired PCs and a wireless laptop.  2 PCs are windows XP the other is Windows 7 and the laptop is windows 7.  The wireless win7 laptop will recognize my win7 wired PC and vice versa and can share everything without problems, but they wont have anything to do with the wired winxp PCs, on top of that the 2 winxp wont recognize each other either so don't think its anything platform specific. I have also tried setting up static IPs for each computer - still no joy. This is a brand new D-Link DIR-655 Rev B1 firmware 2.00

Even when I reconnect to the E3000 all the devices can be viewed for a few hours. Changing routers resets something but maybe overloads the linksys E3000 after a few hours? maybe this E3000 is just defective?

When I view a network map in Network & Internet all the devices appear in the map The configuration is Linksys E3000 router with two (2) 8 port Trendnet gigabyte switches and One (1) 8 port Trendnet Poe 10/100 switch. They are chained router to 8 port gig to 8 port gig to 8 port Poe 10/100. Prior to this I had the router to each switch separately - - this does not seem to matter works the same either way

Windows 7 Can't Receive Internet Network Traffic - Gateway Accessible

I just got my dad's old notebook (VAIO VPC F223FB) which is better than my older one. So, I did a backup and then managed to clean install a Windows 7 Professional x64.At first I had a problem with the drivers, because the internet wasn't connecting and the USB ports weren't detecting my External Drive. So, I tested other USB port and got it. Installed the drivers and I could connect to the wireless network. But it doesn't detect the ethernet cable! And I want it detecting because then it's faster. I already tried downloading the Ethernet Controller driver. At first, I downloaded through Sony's support site but it didn't recognize the driver. Now, it recognizes but still doesn't connect it. And when I tried Solving Connection Problems, it said the network gateway was accessible but Windows can't receive Internet network traffic.
