No Connectivity (wired Or Wireless) After Infected Windows Gen2
Dec 30, 2011
From my company for a new line of work I started. Was "deep frozen" when I got it and was useless to me in that state. Got it thawed and it suddenly wanted to do loads of updates, so I let it. Apparently I was not careful enough & got the "XP antivirus 2012" malware.Eventually conquered that beast and installed avira free.almost immediately avira picked up on the "html/infected win.gen2" malware.I quarantined, deleted, scanned comp. w. avira, rkill, & malwarebytes. all scans came up clean but I now have no connectivity. wired conn. continually tries to acquire network address and w.less has limited or no.Not my router or modem as I have 2 home comps actively cnctd as I type this. Also tried multiple other networks w. same neg. results. After loads of searching and t/s'ing I believe I have found the root of the problem: When I look under "services" I found that "netbios helper", "Network Location Awareness" & "dhcp client" are all not started.
Trying to start them results in failure b/c some "dependencies are marked for deletion". the afore-mentioned 3 things are dependent upon the Netbios over tcpip and tcpip protocol driver. Those drivers are in the system32/drivers folder but I cannot find a "non plug and play" section in the device manager.Yes, I looked under "hidden devices" and I looked in every drop down. I successfully cmd: netsh int ip reset c: esetlog.txt but when I tried to reset winsock I got winsock is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.I have no reboot disk or thumb drive and bios is p/w'ed so I can't wipe the slate clean and start fresh. Is there anything I can do short of giving it to the "IT guy" at work? That's a black hole I'd really like to avoid if possible.

I am experiencing an issue with a LAN connection on my Desktop computer running Win 7 x64 with an NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller. I am receiving a "Limited or No Connectivity" message but I know the Router and LAN cable are good as I can plug it into a laptop sitting right next to me and do not experience any issues.I have checked the original manufacturers website for drivers however they do not offer any for Win 7. Trying the Vista x64 drivers results in the same limited connectivity issue.Hardware Specs I have on the Computer:
- Shuttle SN68SG2
- NVIDIA GeForce 7025
- 7 Series Glamor small form factor XPC Barebone
I have also tried the latest drivers from NVIDIA with the same results. [code]

Had a virus that I cleaned on my laptop. After virus removal I can connect to my FIOS router both wired and wireless but cant get to the internet. Can ping laptop and laptop can ping desktop. I have no issue on my desktop machine getting to the internet only issue is with laptop. I have disabled/removed all apparent firewalls/antivirus. Using Windows XP SP3 and both Firefox and IE. Proxy is off in Firefox and IE. . Have reset network adapters. Network adapters are set to get DNS and IP automatically. IP Config shows IP address and the DHCP and DNS Server addresses are correct (FIOS Router). Windows Firewall is disabled. Something is stopping me from going outside the local network.

My Dlink DIR-655 is hardware ver B1 and firmware 2.00. I found the UPNP cannot cross between wired and wireless network. It is fine if both UPnP server and renderor are on either network. There is no problem on other protocol, such as SAMBA from my notebook connected via Wireless to the QNAP NAS connected via Wired to the 655.

I've got a Brother 5490CN network printer. For the past year, it has been sitting next to my router and plugged directly in. Due to changes in how my service enters my home, the router needed to move to another location - a location that is inappropriate for the printer.

I have 300Mbps PCI wireless LAN network card which I installed in my PC and until today I was connected to my Sky router wirelessly. I also have a wireless Brother all in one connected to the same PCI card.
The engineer who installed my Sky fibre broadband told me in order to achieve maximum speeds I should connect via an ethernet cable to my Sky router as wireless could be a lot slower so I bought one and connected up and disabled the wirelss card. All good so far until I noticed my Brother all in one was complaining about no network ID.
My problem is that I can't seem to run my printer wirelessly as well as run my broadband wired. If I enable the wireless adapter the printer works but my broadband is wireless as well and the wired connection is disabled.

I have a wireless network and I have a new TV that has wireless and wired connectivity. I do not have a wired port at the spot where the TV is mounted so I am connecting wirelessly. The problem is the wireless on the TV is pretty flaky and I cannot get consistent connectivity..and every time it can't connect I have to retype in the AP passwords as it doesn't remember them. I would like to switch the network to wired, but can't run an actual wire. Can I add a new wireless AP as a repeater or bridge to tap into the existing wireless network and then connect the TV to the a wired port on the wireless router?

I've been trying for two weeks now to connect to the internet but can't. This suddenly happened on a Monday after I got home from work. Up until that point, I have had no problems. At first I thought it was my cable, but when I plug the cable into my brother's PC, it works. Then thinking it could be my network card, he picked up a wireless card for me, but still no go. I've searched these forums and many forums over the internet and tried many things but I still have no luck. I've scanned for viruses and malware but nothing has turned up.
I have Norton anti virus but installed Adaware per recommendation to double check. I also used Malware Bytes. On Xirrus, I clicked the ping test and everything showed as pass but still, low connectivity. I get that even when I plug in the cable. When I look at my connection status under activity, the bytes sent and received are in the low thousands.I have only a very basic understanding of networks. [code]....

I have a Linksys E2000 router that is connected to my cable modem. I have a desktop computer that is connected to the router via an ethernet cable, and two laptops in the house that connect wirelessly to the router to get internet access.
This morning, all devices were connected to the internet just fine. I stepped away for a few hours and during that time the desktop 'lost' its internet connection. I have tried re-booting the router and removing-reconnecting the ethernet cable but nothing is restoring the connection.
The fact that my wireless devices are connecting means my internet service is fine, right? So what is preventing the desktop from gaining a connection?

Ive had this 655 for about a year now and it has been rock solid. But, there has been one slight issue.
And and all wireless devices can see each other and all wired devices can see each other....but the wired cant see the wireless and vis versa.
The wireless devices (W7 and Vista laptops) can see the wired devices when they are plugged in. But my phone and Galaxy Tab can only see whatever wireless devices there are (cant be plugged in). Even my wired Samsung TV cant see the shares on the Tab or wireless laptops (and vis versa). So, its certainly not a firewall or OS config issue.
Now, I made sure they are all connecting via the main SSID and not the "isolated" Guest SSID....but its acting like the main SSID is isolated from the wired LAN somehow.
Firmware 1.34. IPs for the wired and wireless devices are all in the 1.2 - 1.50 range.

I just connected a WRT190N v2 Wireless Router to my XPS 400. When my wife tried to connect our other desktop to the wireless network, everything seemed fine. I noticed that, when she wasn't actively browsing or using the network, her computer would lose connectivity, but regain it when a browser was opened. When I tried to use the XPS, I found that it had no connection. I regained connectivity after using the Windows Network Diagnostic tool, but neither computer seems to keep connectivity when left alone, at least for very long.

I have an Internet Connectivity problem which I believe was caused by resetting our D-Link WBR-2310 router. We have a strange, perhaps illogical network setup in our office. Although it was set up before my time, I have figured it works as follows:
(1) A wired/wireless router (let's call it Router A) is connected directly to the DSL modem.
(2) An Ethernet cord runs from this router to a 5 port switch.
(3) 4 cords run from the switch to individual workstations. These computers obtain their IP addresses automatically.
(4) 1 cord runs from the switch to another wired/wireless router (let's call it Router B).
(5) Two cords run from Router B to individual workstations (let's call them Workstations C). These computers used permanent IP, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server addresses. I understand that this was done because they could not obtain their IP addresses automatically.
The problem I've caused seems to stem from me resetting Router B to the factory settings while trying to secure its signal and changing its IP address from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 (in order to avoid conflict with the modem which has the same IP address). Once I did that, Workstations C could not access the Internet.
I have tinkered with the TCP/IP settings for Workstations C (e.g. by changing the default gateways to the Router B's new IP address), but it doesn't work. What else should I be doing?

Recently purchased the e1200 and setup was a breeze but I'm having difficulty with the primary computer (windows 7) connected to it, by wire, haven't used any wireless yet. When the computer is put to sleep through the night, I have to restart the computer the next morning to get a signal but works fine if put to sleep during the day and awakened the same day to use the connection. Have a second computer wired directly to the modem with vista that doesn't have this issue.

ATT notified my company we have a virus infected pc on one our networks which sits behind a Cisco ASA 5505 running 7.2(4). The set up is a basic inside/outside NAT configuration. They gave us the destination ip address and port which the our pc is contacting. I have been tasked to track down the infected pc. I created the following access-list and applied to the inside interface:
access-list VIRUS extended permit TCP ANY host x.x.x.x EQ YYYYY log debugging interval 600 access-group VIRUS in interface inside
I enable logging to the console whose output did not list the IP address of the infected pc, only the ip address of the DNS servers we were using. I then used the following capture commands to try locate the internal ip address of the infected pc:
capture in-cap interface inside access-list VIRUS-CAP buffer 1000000 packet 1522 capture in-cap access-list VIRUS-CAP interface inside
Neither step worked and the resulting console output overwhelmed the firewall in a very short period of time. Before attempting this task again, I would like to know if I am going about this the right way or if there is a better methodology?

I found out my onboard ethernet port was fried, so i went out an bought a RTL8139D ethernet PCI adapter. I fitted the adapter and plugged my cable in. It said Limited or no connectivity. After hours and hours of googling I tried everything. I changed the protocols, created static Ip's went into cmd and reset winsock catalogs, release/renew etc. The cable I am using worked previously in my room and it still works. (I took a laptop up to my room and plugged in the cable and had internet connection). So... I took my PC downstairs and used a different cable. This successfully connected me to the internet. That Rules out that my new ethernet card is the problem. MY cable also allows others to connect to the internet. Windows 7 64X Ultimate edition.

My wireless connections work fine and i have began basic troubleshooting; changing ethernet cables, taking router out of the mix, etc. Beginning to think the ethernet port on pc is going out (NIC card?). Funny thing is, it will come back intermitantly for 10 minute increments. power cycling does nothing.

I have one HP Desktop that decided one day it doesnt want to connect to the internet.
On the network we have two HP desktops (wired), one Dell desktop (wired) and 2 dell laptops (wireless) all connected to a wireless D-Link DIR 655 router . All computers are running Windows XP. All are able to connect to the internet except one HP desktop (only recently).
I have tried connecting the HP desktop in question to the wireless router via a different cable and still no connectivity. I tried disabling and renabling the internet/repairing it to no avail. I've restarted the wireless router and modem. Nothing. I've even tried restarting the computer (who knows it's solved problems before).

I tried using an ethernet cable (cat 6) to connect my laptop (Sony VPC-1190X) to our gigbit router (Netgear N600 WNDR3800), but I get a message that there is no internet connectivity and the light representing that port on the router does not turn on.So, dead ethernet port on the router? Nope - unplugged the working printer from the router and used that ethernet port - same result.so dead ethernet port on the laptop? Nope - plugged the laptop into a gigbit switch (D-link DGS-2205) and instantly got internet connectivity. Note that this switch is plugged into the aforementioned Netgear router. For good measure, I tried power-cycling the router and laptop.
BTW - I can connect the laptop to the router wirelessly but I am trying to make use of the faster transfer speed of the ethernet connection.

i have a BEFSR41 v3 firmware v 1.05.00 - i have been usuing it for at least 7 or 8 years now - at one time i had 3 computers hooked up and they all three worked fine. Now i have 2 plugged into the router - both are xppro machines - the one i am now works with no problems. The other computer however has the limited or no connectivity problem.I used this router for years without any problems then one day this ip conflict message started to appear. Then one day i started getting this weird ip conflict message on both computers but only occasionaly - it never caused any problems - if you ignored it - it would simply go away. Then one day computer #2 got the limited or no connectivity message - i simple reboot fixed it. This solution worked several times. Computer #1 has never had any problems.
Sometime later the limited or no connectivity problem reappeared and this time a reboot did not work - i searched for a fix and decided to try changing the link speed from auto sense to 10mb half duplex - this solved the problem. This solution worked several times.Sometime after that the limited or no connectivity reappeared and after some searching i upgraded the routers firmware - this solved the problem.Sometime later the limited or no connectivity reappeared and this time i had to actually uninstall the NIC, reboot and then let it redetect the NIC and then the problem was fixed. This solution worked several times.Sometime later the limited or no connectivity reappeared and the previous solutions did not work to fix it - after searching for a fix i discovered that i could simply unplug the router and the plug it back in and this would solve the problem. This solution worked many times.Sometime later (wich brings us to 3 or 4 months ago) the limited or no connectivity reappeared and this time after searching for a fix i was able to fix it by updating the NIC drivers. Problem solved. This brings us to now - the limited or no connectivity has reappeared and none of the previous fixes correct the problem. When i originally set everything up it worked immediately out of the box.
DHCP is enabled - everything is set to obtain an ip address automatically. At first the event viewer reported The IP address lease 192.168.1.100 for the Network Card with network address0xxxxxxxxx has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.1.1. {The DHCP Serversent a DHCPNACK message}.Now the even viewer just tells me it is using ip address 169.254.xxxxxx - (not the exact message but i didn't wanna go back and look)I have tried all of the previous fixes to no avail. I've tried shutting everything off and turning everything back on - i've tried resetting both the modem and the router - i've tried upgrading the firmware again. I even downloaded LELA and installed it on both computers thinking maybe it would detect and fix the problem buy no such luck. LELA simply tells me that computer #1 is working normally. On computer #2 when i installed LELA the first thing it did was try to find the router and it tells me it cannot find it.I.ve tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew - i've tried it one after the other and also a reboot in between. I've tried clicking on repair in the LAN status - i've tried even tried different cables and switching ports on the router.

After a recent power outage while my PC was in sleep mode, I don't have wired (Ethernet) connectivity.
I have new Dimension E510XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, SP3 ver had an issue with wired connectivity on this PC after coming out of sleep mode. Of course, the power failure was unusual.
Observations:
- ipconfig /all shows that I have an IP address
- I can ping the DHCP server listed in ipconfig /all and I also can ping google.com.
- I was going to go a restore point set before the power outage. But, somehow system restore had gotten turned off. Oh, well. I did go ahead and turn system restore back on.
Things I've already tried that did not solve the issue:
- Reboot
- Uninstall/reinstall the network adapter driver. Device Manager says the network adapter card is working properly.
- Looked for an updated network adapter driver on Dell's website. Turns out that I have the latest driver already.
- Followed many of the steps from Microsoft at [URL]
- Checked McAfee Security Center firewall permissions list to see if something got changed. Everything looked okay. Also disabled the firewall just to be sure,
- Disabled SafeEyes internet filter.
- Reset the router. Also swapped router ports with a known good PC. The known good PC still had connectivity, the affected PC (the E510) did not.

I recent bought an Asus G74SX-A1. While the machine runs like an absolute dream, it does seem to have a networking problem that I have been attempting to address for about a week. In my college dorm there is an ethernet port that carries an active internet connection. When my laptop is plugged into the port via ethernet, I receive no connection (well mostly no connection, every now and then I will connect for a split second allowing me to load my homepage, Google). This problem also exists on my dorm's WiFi. My LAN card is a RealTek BGE Family Controller (PCIe)
However, on my netbook (an Asus 1000HE, which I am typing this post on) everything is fine. I am quick to blame the retailer who sold me the G74SX seeing as they replaced the stock WiFi card with a Bigfoot Killer 1102 card, and my first assumption is that something was not installed properly during my laptop's assembly or that I simply messed up a driver update. I became quite frustrated with the whole situation and in order to find a quick solution I formatted the laptop back to factory defaults.
Something magical happened. For about a day and a half, my LAN card worked. I packed up my gear this weekend and headed back home, and at my parents' house my WiFi card worked wonderfully.I thought my networking woes were behind me, but this was not the case. When I returned to my dorm this afternoon, my LAN and WiFi cards began experiencing the same problems they experienced before the reformat. A third variable of some interest is that I brought my wireless router back to my dorm in order to utilize a less-crowded private WiFi spot and discovered that it worked fine and I was able to connect to the internet on my iPad using my router. This evening, however, my router decided to stop carrying an internet connection as well. I can connect to the router itself, but I cannot receive an internet connection, even on the netbook.
I have tried uninstalling/updating drivers for both the Bigfoot card and the RealTek card to no avail. My best hypothesis is that the problem lies in some setting that both the G74SX and the D-Link DIR-655 have in common, seeing as they are the only wired components that aren't receiving a connection.
Equipment: D-Link DIR-655, Asus G74SX, Asus EeePC 1000HE

I'm having problem with windows sharing (file/printer sharing) from Wireless lan client which is connected to AP3500 and WLC 5508 then to Nexus 7010. It's already using ip command, for example \192.168.84.65 WLC os version 7.0.116.0 (using AP groups) Nexus os version 4.2(6) The weird thing is i can connect using windows sharing from wired LAN to wireless user however not vice versa. f
-Wireless lan to wired LAN using windows sharing - failed
-Wired LAN to Wireless lan using windows sharing - success.
I've been analyzing by making sure that all the to end, there would be no firewall within source pc(s) and destination pc(s) and also the ACL inside Nexus. Been dying here to find solution for this, due to the customer is using it for file and printer sharing service.
