Patch Internet Through A Computer To A Second Device?
Dec 29, 2011
I connect to the internet with a usb wireless modem on one computer.I have creat a home network and I need to share the internet to rest of the computers on my network.
I don't have a router but I need to provide internet to two devices. I have a Gigabyte P55A-UD3 motherboard and a Linksys ethernet PCI card. Is there any way I can connect the Internet to my motherboard, and then provide internet to my second device via the PCI card?
have a computer that connects to the internet via a wireless network connection. The router to which it connects is not physically available.I have a device that I want to connect to the internet. However, it is a wired device. The device cannot reach the wireless router that the computer connects to.Is there any way for the wired device to connect to the computer as an intermediary? The computer has a built in wired network card (as well as a USB wireless device that connects to the wifi router).
I am trying to share a printer on Windows Server 2003 machine so that my other computers can access the print share from my server. originally i was hosting the print server from one of the workstations (running Windows XP SP2). I now want the printer share to be hosted from the server. I set up the printer correctly (to my knowledge). i was able to set it up and print a test page. But when i go into properties and attempt to share the printer, i click on Share this Printer and enter in a name, i designate it to list the printer in the directory. Then i click apply and ok... and nothing happens. the printer is not shared. When i go back into properties, it shows that i am not sharing the printer.
After using my 2 TB WD network storage device on other systems both wirelessly and via an ethernet connection, I decided to install the device on a new system via a wired connection. Unfortunately, my computer (WIN XP) won't recognise the device when using a direct connection though my talk talk supplied D-LINK wireless router. I have contacted WD and talktalk and gone through all the diagnostic processes but it still won't recognise the device. I have been able to connect this device through an older D-LINK router (still wireless) on the same talk talk ISP with no problems so I can't understand why it won't connect here. The WD device reports no problems but I can't access it, even when all firewall and AV programs are disabled.
Does the wifi switch have to be on for a bluetooth device to connect with this computer? That is the only way I can get it to connect, but I have been told, maybe in error, that you shouldn't have to have the wifi on to do so. When my wireless adapter switch is on, my bluetooth device does connect to the computer but in the Windows Mobility Center it does show the bluetooth icon even though it is showing up in the taskbar.
I am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit. All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.
i want to understand how patch panels work, so far the google searches that ive done only adds more confusion.i bought a patch panel and iam in the process of buying a switch, here is what i am doing, i cut a 2 feet long ethernet cable and i punched down the cables to the back of the patch panel ( straight through)then the other end i put a RJ45 that goes connected to the switch. and i leave the front of the patch panel for PCs etc. is that right? but some info out there point out to punch down the cables to the back of the patch panel that come from the PCs,
I'm currently volunteering at a children's group near me. They've just moved offices and are wanting a computer network in place. I have quite a bit of experience with hardware and software troubleshooting, but anything past the server is beyond me.They have a telecommunications box, as many places do, and the box has a set of patch boxes that are, according to the telecommunications people, plugged in and good to go. Each office has tunnelling on the wall with network sockets, again the norm.
I currently have the following set up in my basement: Modem to 8 port router which has cables going into a patch panel which in turn provides internet access at 8 wall outlets throughout the house. My data/video streaming needs are expanding and I have had additional wiring pulled to the new locations. I would like to know if I can bypass the patch panel and go from the Modem to a 24 port switch to individual wall plates throughout the house.
Am running Cat6 cable to my cellar. I plan to run a face plate in the walls of all rooms where there will be an ethernet connection. Originally when I did this in a previous house I wired two rooms together i.e. a face plate in one room and the other end a face plate. I did a cross over cable for this so when connecting anything at the other end it would talk to the device in the other room i.e. room A NAS straight through to face plate, room B PS3 straight through to face plate for example. However as I will be connecting multiple rooms together in to a patch panel then switch / router how will this then work? For all rooms where there is face plate do I crossover all cable to the patch panel or straight through? If straight through to the patch are my patch leads then cross overs to the switch?
I need to patch our ACS server to 4.2.0.124.17 from 4.2.0.124.6. My question is, do I need to apply the same patch to our remote agents? Cisco's documentation only states that both the ACS and the Remote Agents need to be 4.2.0.
I am trying to upgrade the switches in one of the buildings to Gigabit HP ProCurve switches. Currently, this building has 3 wiring closets, and each closet has 2 Intel Standalone 460 switches (24 ports). We use them as simple Layer 2 Switches. Nothing fancy. We recently bought 3 48 port HP Procurve Gigabit switches.I was planning on going in and swapping the 2 Intel Switches out with the HP Procurve Switches. The first closet went fine, and we had immediate connectivity (servers, Internet, etc.). However, when I went to the second closet I found that I could not connectivity back to the first closet.I then noticed the patch cable going from Closet A to Closet B is terminated with a female connection on both end. And then a patch cable is connected from the end, to the switch at both sites. I have never seen this before. And I hope I am making sense. Why would this method work with the old Intel switches (that are close to 10 years old) and not with the HP?
info on RJ45 patch panel wiring standards. Is there an Australian standard that specifies exposed cable pairs be not more than 13mm at termination point (RJ45) wiring cat cable?
I am migrating WCS to PI 1.3. I read from the guide that we need to migrate to NCS 1.1.1 first and we can get the demo license from Cisco.but the demo license is only 100 unit, but my WCS has 300 license units. How can I import the wcs data to NCS? Besides, I also read from the guide that I need to install patch in NCS before migrating the data to PI 1.3.can I install the patch before i import the data from WCS?
I installed ise-1.1.1.268.i386.iso on a scratch to the new NAC 3315. As i check cisco download mentioned it need to patch following files :ise-patchbundle-1.1.1.268-1-60802.i386.tar.gz,But once try to patch it show like attachment message, is it mean that i no need to do the patching?Or is there any instruction need to remove and reinstall for this files.
procedure to apply the 5-2-0-26-4.tar.gpg patch. I don't know how to get the patch file into the ACS server. The procedure in the "Read me" for the patch does not indicate anything about how to this:
1. open CLI console2. define new repository in which the 5-2-0-26-4.tar.gpg resides3. issue: 'acs patch install 5-2-0-26-4.tar.gpg repository YOUR_REPOSITORY'4. verify installation by getting the following version information via CLI by issuing:#show application version acs I don't know how to put the patch file from my local machine to the repository created in the GUI (if there is where the actual place to creat the repository).
I am trying to apply pach 5 to my ACS version 5.3 using FTP but i receive the following errors after issuing the show backup history command. When i use TFTP, i get a message saying that the file is too big, which i understand 164 MB.
after issuing the show repository "repository name", i get the following error.% Error reading directory on remote server.the patch is on one of my hard drives D, how do i specify on the ACS file path which drive to use?I can only place a url but without specifying which drive.
i'm using ACS 5.3.0.40.2 and its setup with an AD External Identity store for wireless PEAP MSCHAPv2. AD is configured with Alternate UPN suffixes so that for example: 22056 Subject not found in the applicable identity store(s). ##
I've checked the release notes for 5.3.0.40.5 and there are some changes/fixes for AD but nothing I can see to explain the behaviour above. I'm looking to upgrade to 5.3.0.40.5 soon but I really need the Alternate UPN suffixes to work.mydomain.com is the AD domain namean Alternate UPN suffix of another.com has been added to AD
A valid AD user can add either the @mydomain.com or the @another.com suffixes to their username and login successfully. This works fine with 5.3.0.40.2 but changes when I upgrade to 5.3.0.40.5 - users who use the @mydomain.com login ok but users using the Alternate UPN @another.com fail with the error: [code]
Recently bought a NAS (Synology DS212j), upgraded to a gigabit router (Netgear WNDR3700), and now want to utilize the pre-wired ethernet ports in our condo. How to do this last part.
Do i just plug one of the LAN ports from the router into the wall using a Cat5e cable? Then the signal will be routed to all ethernet ports through the patch panel?
I located a patch panel in the closet, but not sure if its wired correctly or which connection goes where. I took some pics that you can see here: URL you can see in one of the pictures that some of the cables are only connected at one side.
I have an issue with applying a patch to an ACS 1121 appliance running version 5.2.0.26. I have 5 units that needed updating and the first one is the unit with the problem. The subsequent ones updated with no issues.
When I do a show version the 5.2.0.26.10 does not show. When I try to do a reinstall I get back patch all ready exists. When I try to do an uninstall I get back patch does not exist.
Is there a command can wipe out patch 10, so I can start over? The CLI factory-reset only wipes the web configuration not the running-config or IOS.
I am renovation my own house, and I have started to hard wire for the network/s, but I am also trying to incorporate so much more than any previous “wireless” setup I have had, well I am a bit confused to say the least.I would like to set up a home network and media server system which includes:Internet browsing (multiple rooms and wireless) File sharing, printer sharing, scanner etc Music/Video sharing/streaming, TV etc.I have started wiring (we are renovating) with Cat5e, and have just replaced the old POTS (telephone) wiring with Cat5e and taken the individual telephone wires (including the incoming telephone cable) back to one central connection unit in a network patch panel. This has improved the speed of my DSL download connection speed from 1.2mbs to 6.2mbs. unreal!, so that did get me a bit fired up!I am currently wiring data points (Cat5es from each room) back to the same panel, but to be honest I am not really sure where to go from there! Also, I have wired Sat cables back to this point ready to be connected to sat TV (dish) in case if we get it. This patch panel is in a small passageway that goes through to the garage from the house. It is conveniently located next to the mains board which I have just replaced. My original idea was to put any extra needed equipment in the same location, but looking at it, I think that I may have to think again, for there is little room. I have found a small alcove in the upstairs games room which has a shelf, and which could take any hardware, also it will be dust free (unlike the place leading to the garage). I can run as many cables as needed from this location to the patch panel, but obviously I would like to know how many, as I am not familiar with networking on this scale, my only other experience being wireless setups. For example, would the switch need to be located where the patch panel is, or else can it be on the shelf with the other stuff? (away from the panel), and the existing D-link 4 port router?? is this no longer required?Im presuming i will need an old PC or some sort of media storage device here too... no ideas with this either. Have tried asking three different computer stores, got three different answers...?!
Have I dropped a clanger wiring to the passageway, when infact any server/switch or whatever wont be in the same location? Also, I am planning on getting a MAC book, and would like to use this on the system sometimes (might not be relevant), just thought to mention. And, I was thinking of trying Linux, as I am fed up with all the windows problems. But not sure if that is a good idea either. We have TVs in the (when its finished) media room, also three other areas, which I would like to get connected so that they will be able to get either TV or watch a film from storage wow this is getting complicated and if it matters I do have a PS3, which we only really bought to use as a TV storage system/recorder.
I have DSL, a firewall, patch panel and hubs. The network was already in place by three previous techs. I am not sure how the current setup is done there is no configuration map.The users in office 1 are all connected to a patch panel that then connects to hubs The second office users connect to a hub that then connects to the patch panel then connects to another hub.The internet is connected to a router that will be replaced with a firewall. Should it be setup like thisdsl modem > firewall > patch panel > hubs > Nodes
