Rosewill RNX-G300LX - PCI Card Drop Signal Frequently
Jul 20, 2011
Mobo: Gigabyte EP45-UD3R
OS W7 64-bit Home
Rosewill RNX-G300LX PCI b/g card
I've had problems with my current wireless PCI card in my desktop; it would drop the signal rather frequently and even make my router need a power recycle. . I don't know how that is even possible. Anyway I think it has to do with my PCI slot since I tested the card in another computer and it seems to work well.
That being the case I would like to get a PCI-express x1 wireless card. Or is it better to go usb? Wireless G is what I'm using currently. The desktop wireless space seems kind of lucrative. .

I have a LinkSys WRT54G Wireless-G Broadband Router located in my basement office. My IBM T42 ThinkPad running Windows XP Pro has an Intel(R) PRO Wireless 2200BG Network Connection adaptor. The signal strength on the main floor of our townhouse is ~ 80%. My problem is the signal frequently disconnects then recovers automatically causing frustration when browsing the internet. My question: Should I upgrade to a new Wireless N router OR purchase a WiFi Range Extender? since my laptop has a Wireless-G adaptor would a Wireless-N router provide a stronger signal?

I'm using a WAG54GS 1.0 router with up to date firmware, and signal around the house has always been fine, yet today it has suddently dropped to a VERY limited range - I'm sat right next to it now on a laptop and the signal is 2/5 bars - "fair".I've reset factory settings yet to no avail, I can't even get signal in the next room!

I have several E4200 routers deployed in our library district. In one branch, we have been having sporadic problems with computers not being able to maintain a connection. Typically the computer will connect and then the connection will drop and Windows will display the yellow error triangle on the wifi signal strength display.I have swapped the router with another brand new E4200 with the latest firmware but am still having this problem.

A while ago I replaced my wireless card, and the new one get's considerably weaker signal strength and drops out periodically. I'm sure the problem is with the card itself (or its firmware). It not only get's weak signal strength from my router, but every surrounding network, and sometimes can't detect any networks for a few minutes. I've used several other wi-fi devices in the same spot where this system is sitting and they all get excellent signal strength.I've already tried changing channels on my router and re-installing drivers. Neither has any effect. The card in question is a TP-Link TL-WN951N.

I have tried using Google and Yahoo! Answers to get an answer without much luck. But basically, what is the advantage (if any) of having 2 or 3 antennae on a PC wireless network card instead of just 1?

I have a pci wireless card that I have been using with the same router for some time. All of a sudden in the last couple of weeks it suddenly developed some habbit of dropping the signal from the router on random intervals. During the times that it does it, it will do it over and over again for hours sometimes. It will connect, then drop off less than a minute later, then reconnect again. It will just suddenly say "No Connections available",when normally there are at least 3 connections displayed in the list(2 neighbors and 1 mine).
I am using Windows 7 64 bit and I just now did a fresh reformat on the hard drive an hour or so ago to try and rule out the option of conflicting software/drivers/malware and so on. The problem seems to be persisting still.I have the latest drivers that I can find for my card and updated firmware on the router(same exact setup I have always used).

Just had delivered two vostro 260s desktops both with wireless cards pre installed.
My home wireless network has been in operation for months with a Linksys Dualband router and various devices (.11n and older) operating.
I set up the two PCs in my work room where the router is and they imediately connected successfully. I moved one of the desktops to another room (about 12 metres away) and it can barely find the network. At first the signal was not found at all then it would briefly find the network then lose it again. I re-arranged router, modem, cables etc. to get it about 3m closer and higher up and now the new PC sees the network but the signal strength is poor and all internet actions are very slow.
To put this in some sort of context, I have an HP laptop which detects excellent signal strength from this router at the same location and all round my house.

I am planning to set to my new house a secure network with Cisco firewall. I have practically no experience with firewalls and specially no with ASA programming. Still I have quite a clear picture what the system will look like. But when I first opened the ADSM screen I was freaked out about the amount of selections to be made. I cannot even figure out where I shoud start from! I am afraid that even thou I am very good with computers, it will take years to get understand all this data not to mention of configuring the device.
At the moment the situation is as follows:
- Firewall is set as factory default and it cannot not get to internet. I can't figure out what is blocking the traffic out. Logs does not work.
- Cable modem router has DHCP, NAT and SPI firewall ON.
- Outside has line/link up and IP is DHCP configured, but no traffic.
- 5505s' DHCP is now off but tested and working
- No VPN tunnels built (never built one and don't know how to do it)
- No extra routes / rules / profiles / policies etc. done. All is at default/auto status.

I have a Rosewill RNX N300X wireless adapter that keeps dropping to 1 mbps, and only goes up to about 18 mbps on a good day. How can I force a 54 mbps connection?
- I am running the latest drivers for the card.
- The network is "g", card accepts b/g/n.
- Another computer running RNX N360PC is getting a perfect connection on the same network.

I have been having trouble with my net for sometime now, TWC (time warner cable) guy came to my house to investigate it, said nothing was wrong with the modem but was in fact the doing of the router.
I asked him to take a look at it but he stated he was not allowed to and would not take a look. The main problem is that it mostly goes down when were gaming the net will randomly shut off, sometimes it comes right back, but usually we have to restart the whole thing in order to get net back. It has been known to go off even while were just searching the web.
Main info i can provide is..
Net speed - 20meg down 2 up
Router - D-Link Xtreme Gigabit Router (DIR-655) Wireless N300, USB SharePort, Gigabit
Hardware version - A4
Firmware version - 1.35A
Some of my configuration is I have shut off the wireless portion to turn it into a wired router, (it was still doing this while is was wireless i just shut off the wireless portion today), I also turned mac address filtering on and add the 3 pc's to the mac address and give out the internet that way.
The way its hooked up is cable line/modem/router/then pc1/ pc2/ pc3 connect into router. Only pc 1 and pc 2 use it for gaming. pc3 is just for web surfing.
It really sucks to be playing a game and be doing well or on the verge of a comeback to then have your game freeze because you lost net and then ruined the game for the rest of your team. I'm just tired of dealing with it.

I've been having this problem on and off for a few years but never this frequent as of now.My connection randomly drops out and I have to disconnect cable from my modem and reconnect it and reboot and stuff like that to get it back up. Sometime even connection just drops and connects right back. Now I'm almost confident its the modem's fault, I have recently replaced the modem and the router

Some of you may remember my name from the PS3 posts I had a while back. I completely abandoned the PS3/internet connectivity issues due to it going unsolved for about a year now, I just moved to a new house recently. I can understand that it will take a bit for the family to set things up like reliable internet connectivity and what-not. But perhaps there is something that I can do relatively quickly to fix this. Perhaps it is problematic software on my computer? Here's what is happening: The internet disconnects. A lot. Sometimes it's once per 7-minute YouTube video, and just recently it was a record-breaking sixteen times within 20 minutes. I read some things about it being a problem with Adobe Flash player, because most disconnects happen during YouTube videos, but I can't get an update for it... the internet does not co-operate.

Recently came back from college to a terrible internet connection that frequently disconnects or drops in speed randomly (for all computers on network). This requires me to perform a hard reset to restore connection. This usually happens at least once a day and sometimes several. Current set up is a Motorola Surfboard SB5100 Cable Modem and a Linksys WRT54GS router.

I am having a huge problem since yesterday. I was using my wireless connection like always and it has randomly started to stop working for brief periods of time. It's like a continuous cycle where the internet works smoothly and fast (like always) for 30 secs at a time, then it goes into 15 secs where nothing works.

I have an acer aspire 5536 laptop and it will randomly disconnect from the wireless internet. Everything will be working fine but as soon as I try to load two things at once (or sometimes even one big thing) it will show that little yellow exclamation mark and say no access to internet even though it is still connected to the network. The other computers connected to the wireless work fine with no access issues so I know it is not the router. Also this happened in my previous home where I used wireless but from a different provider so it is definitely something wrong with the computer. Every time it goes to no internet access if I disconnect and then reconnect it works again.

I have a wireless Motorola modem that is hardwired to a computer that is usually off. This modem services 4 other computers in the house wirelessly and all experience the same frequent connection drops regardless of connection quality. I've had problems with this modem for as long as I can remember but it never bothered me because the problems were too far and few between; now, the connection has progressed to dropping within minutes of use. When the connection is dropped I cannot access my modem (plugging the ip address 192.168.0.1 into my web browser)The connection stays acceptable for a while after resetting but always reverts back to being a piece of crap. The connection drops most frequently when under heavy load i.e. steam downloading a game at my connection's full capacity, just only more frequently. The connection will still drop within the hour if I'm downloading anything or not.
I've tried rerouting the wireless modem into another wireless router before but it caused me new problems. Before this all started within last week, I contracted some spyware that redirected Google search links and also killed my connection frequently along with terrible slowdowns. I gave up trying to clean the system and reformatted but my internet connection still drops and it's now affecting all computers that connect to this modem. [code]

My wireless internet constantly disconnects and then reconnects right away for seemingly no reason. I can't find a pattern, sometimes I have no dropouts for 6 hours, sometimes it happens every 20-30 seconds for a few minutes. I've checked online and i tried to do some research on it but i couldnt find an answer, i remember typing something into the cmd and it said that something was disables, just cant remember what i typed into the cmd. Also, when my ISP raises the network speed, my router or whatever it is can't handle it so i disconnect and have to call them to set it down.

I am trying to track down a problem I am having with one laptop. Other wireless devices on the network are not showing the same problem. Connecting to the router by ethernet resolves the problem.Over a 120 second period, the wireless connection drops and reconnects several times. Each time it drops it almost immediately picks up and re-connects. The "down time" is usually between 5 and 20 seconds.I have updated the driver for the wireless card (it was out of date) but this did not resolve.
Reading posts here - I see you typically need to see a WiFi inspector screen shot - which I have attached. You can see a couple of "drops" on the graph.

I'm basically experiencing a frequently slow internet connection, but I believe this to be a fault with Virgin Media. Instead, I have a quick question - there are 7 computers in this house (excluding iphones etc), and the speed we pay for is up-to 50MBPS. Am I correct in thinking that this should be more than enough speed for all computers to be active on the internet without issue - including using Skype/Streaming TV etc? How exactly does a router distribute the broadband connection? This one is mainly out of curiosity, but occasionally I will find that the computer next to me has no issues streaming a TV program, but that my own computer won't even load the page.
