May 6, 2012I have 20 to 100 Mbps(FTTH) line at home. I am planning to put few servers online to serve web pages. I have tried them taking online with normal home dsl routers, but router hangs very frequently.

Cisco 15.x ISR G2 Router Crashes / Hangs When Doing NAT
Jul 10, 2012Any issues on Cisco ISR / ISR G2 routers running 15.x code while doing NAT for large quantities of users (3000+) involving lock ups? This seems to be an ongoing issue for a customer. The symtom is present on 2811, 2911 and a 3945. The 3945 never spikes over 10% processor or memory utilization, yet still has these issues. The routers have been tested running 15.0(1)M5, 15.0(1)M7 and 15.1(4)M4 which all showed simular results. Other router side services are running such as NetFlow v9 to two destinations. Another interesting symtom, doing a "show ip nat translations" command will crash the router if executed at its peak usage period. NAT is to a single IP (sourced from outside interface), not a pool.

Cisco WAN :: 881 Router Hangs Randomly
Feb 28, 2013i have here an cisco 881 router which has been in service for about 3/4 year now.yesterday the device from one moment to an other stoped working the device does not respond on console, it does not boot (or seems to be booting) and is also not responsive on the reset hole.
powercycle has been attempted but without result. the only evidence that it is alive is the FA leds. they are all constant on.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1000 FW - Firmware Update Failed / Router Hangs?
Mar 5, 2013The router had firmware 2.0.x(?) and I tried to update to the latest FW, according to the webpage that's

Hardware is E1000 v2 according to sticker on back.The firmware update failed (no reason given) and the router now hangs in limbo where all it does is flashing the power LED.I set my PC to 19?2.168.1.2 and TFTP'd the firmware over to 192.168.1.1 - no errors reported and 192.168.1.1 is pingable. Held reset for 30s, then powered down the router for another 30s. On power-up the router still flashes the power LED.
Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Hangs During Setup?
Dec 3, 2011Have been trying for the past two days to install a new E4200. It gets to 25% in the setup and then errors out and says I need to contact customer service.
Connecting through a brand new DSL modem that I know works as I can get access through my old router.
My PC (Windows 7) is directly connected to the router. I got to the point where I named the router in the install process the first time, but then it hung.
Have tried to use the CD to re-setup with no success. I've tried the hard reset holding in the button for 10 seconds and unplugging but nothing has changed.

Sep 23, 2012The Cisco 3600 series (3640) is hanged during booting proccess, the IOS is decompressed, but after some text it hanges and I even cannot go to user exec. ROMmon and bypassing the config setting, but the result is still the same.

I can connect easily to internet with TP-Link MR-3040 router and Huawei E173 3G modem, but the router is disconnected or reseted after a while with no reason. it works fine between 5 and 15 minutes, rarely more than 1 hour, and when i see a video or download a large file the reset is almost automatic. This never happens with the Huawei modem connected directly to the PC!

I am using TP Link 3040 V1 and whenever I am using it with my IDEA 3G dongle model no E1732 it keep on getting disconnected after 15-20 mins.
When i restart the router again it works fine for another 15-20 mins and then again disconnects.
When I use the dongle directly in my laptop it works fine without disconnecting. So the issue is not in the Idea dongle but in the router.
WRT54GL Router Drops Wi-Fi Connections Frequently
Mar 6, 2013I have a WRT54GL that I bought about 2 months ago, and I've had nothing but problems with the wi-fi since I started using it. It works as normal about 90% of the time, but usually 50+ times per day, I won't be able to connect to the router wirelessly (with ANY device, no matter how close I am to the router) for 1 to 2 minutes. The fact that I can't connect to the router with ANY devices during these times leads me to believe that the problem lies with the router itself. Another thing to note is that the wired connection to the router works just fine during these wireless outages.
I've tried changing channels and upgrading the firmware, but nothing has changed. Did I just get a bad router?

Oct 13, 2011I have 2 X E4200 router, one is directly connected to the internet and the other is in the bridge mode connected to the first router. I have apple TV connected directly with the bridge router on one of the Ethernet port.I notice that when you start apple Airplay mirroring on the iPad2 both the routers will hangs with no reason and the only way to fix it is to reboot the routers. I have reset both the routers to factory default twice they both are running firmware 1.0.03 build 14 .

Nov 6, 2012Over the weekend this router was put into production. SSHv2 is configfured and was working fine. Due to some circumstances, we had to avoid configuring any zone-pairs that included the self zone. This of course left the router open somewhat. SSH was secured but of course a few IP's from poorly regulated parts of the world spent the weekend trying to brute force log into the router. No luck it seems. Anyway, SSH continjued working, then we set up self zone-pairs (out to self and self to out). As ssh can't be Inspected, we did a pass log for each direction. This worked for a bit, then SSH just stopped working. I've seen this happen on 891W's in the lab here too, so is not something perhaps done by some unseen DoS attack or something.

Feb 3, 2013I have been through three chat sessions on this without resolution and support tells me just to factory reset. After some time (weeks) after a successful local login to the admin page subsequent attempt to login just hang. After entering the admin password the page changes and says "Waiting" under revolving circles. It will sit there for over 1 hour. I have tried IE, chrome and firefox on Windows 7 and Windows 8 on three different machines and it behaves the same. Of course I have to go through this same process with the support people every time and every time they come to the conclusion that I have to do a factory reset. But so far Linksys denies that there is a defect.

The reason I know that the connection is interrupted completely is that my IP address changes every time it happens. Apr 7, 2012I recently upgraded my internet speed service from my ISP (Brighthouse). They installed a gateway to replace their old modem, but I have had it bridged so it should act as a modem. Speedtest.net shows downloads on the order of 40-50 Mbps and uploads around 5 Mbps. If I try doing something interactively that pushes the speed and size of files (like flying over Google earth using my mouse to guide the direction and speed) my connection seems to hang. I have to reset the router (unpower and repower it) to get my internet connection to work. This has also happened when I quickly downloaded a series of large images - I click to get the next page fairly soon after the current page has finished downloaded. My router is a WRT350N.

Nov 14, 2011We have a 1841 Cisco router for one of our remote sites and we have the GRE over IPSec tunnel on it (with our datacenter router) for the connectivity. The LAN facing interface becomes UP/Down (status 'UP', Protocol 'Down'). When I login the router and 'shut' and then 'no shut' the interface, the interface becomes UP and everything starts to work. Traffic starts to flow across it. But after some time, some hours or sometimes some days, the interface is again back to up/down status. The router is connected to a non-Cisco switch. I do see some CRC's increasing very slowly, but apart from that there seems nothing wrong with the interface in sho int fas0/0 command:

Jul 31, 2012I have a LinkSys WRT54G Wireless-G Broadband Router located in my basement office. My IBM T42 ThinkPad running Windows XP Pro has an Intel(R) PRO Wireless 2200BG Network Connection adaptor. The signal strength on the main floor of our townhouse is ~ 80%. My problem is the signal frequently disconnects then recovers automatically causing frustration when browsing the internet. My question: Should I upgrade to a new Wireless N router OR purchase a WiFi Range Extender? since my laptop has a Wireless-G adaptor would a Wireless-N router provide a stronger signal?

Aug 7, 2012I have been having trouble with my net for sometime now, TWC (time warner cable) guy came to my house to investigate it, said nothing was wrong with the modem but was in fact the doing of the router.
I asked him to take a look at it but he stated he was not allowed to and would not take a look. The main problem is that it mostly goes down when were gaming the net will randomly shut off, sometimes it comes right back, but usually we have to restart the whole thing in order to get net back. It has been known to go off even while were just searching the web.

Some of my configuration is I have shut off the wireless portion to turn it into a wired router, (it was still doing this while is was wireless i just shut off the wireless portion today), I also turned mac address filtering on and add the 3 pc's to the mac address and give out the internet that way.
The way its hooked up is cable line/modem/router/then pc1/ pc2/ pc3 connect into router. Only pc 1 and pc 2 use it for gaming. pc3 is just for web surfing.
It really sucks to be playing a game and be doing well or on the verge of a comeback to then have your game freeze because you lost net and then ruined the game for the rest of your team. I'm just tired of dealing with it.

Dec 29, 2012My PC boots fine (via SSD) but as soon as it passes the login screen and brings me to the desktop, the network connection icon has a circle going around it for about 30 seconds. Except the circle isnt moving, or rotating as if it's frozen and when i click on it to go into the network and sharing settings, it hangs. While this happens i can access anything else fine except internet based apps. Once it connects, everything is normal.
I use a Netgear Power line Adapter and have been for years, and have never had a problem with it. I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
