i have here an cisco 881 router which has been in service for about 3/4 year now.yesterday the device from one moment to an other stoped working the device does not respond on console, it does not boot (or seems to be booting) and is also not responsive on the reset hole.
powercycle has been attempted but without result. the only evidence that it is alive is the FA leds. they are all constant on.
Any issues on Cisco ISR / ISR G2 routers running 15.x code while doing NAT for large quantities of users (3000+) involving lock ups? This seems to be an ongoing issue for a customer. The symtom is present on 2811, 2911 and a 3945. The 3945 never spikes over 10% processor or memory utilization, yet still has these issues. The routers have been tested running 15.0(1)M5, 15.0(1)M7 and 15.1(4)M4 which all showed simular results. Other router side services are running such as NetFlow v9 to two destinations. Another interesting symtom, doing a "show ip nat translations" command will crash the router if executed at its peak usage period. NAT is to a single IP (sourced from outside interface), not a pool.

The Cisco 3600 series (3640) is hanged during booting proccess, the IOS is decompressed, but after some text it hanges and I even cannot go to user exec. ROMmon and bypassing the config setting, but the result is still the same.

Hardware is E1000 v2 according to sticker on back.The firmware update failed (no reason given) and the router now hangs in limbo where all it does is flashing the power LED.I set my PC to 19?2.168.1.2 and TFTP'd the firmware over to 192.168.1.1 - no errors reported and 192.168.1.1 is pingable. Held reset for 30s, then powered down the router for another 30s. On power-up the router still flashes the power LED.

Connecting through a brand new DSL modem that I know works as I can get access through my old router.
My PC (Windows 7) is directly connected to the router. I got to the point where I named the router in the install process the first time, but then it hung.
Have tried to use the CD to re-setup with no success. I've tried the hard reset holding in the button for 10 seconds and unplugging but nothing has changed.
I have 2 X E4200 router, one is directly connected to the internet and the other is in the bridge mode connected to the first router. I have apple TV connected directly with the bridge router on one of the Ethernet port.I notice that when you start apple Airplay mirroring on the iPad2 both the routers will hangs with no reason and the only way to fix it is to reboot the routers. I have reset both the routers to factory default twice they both are running firmware 1.0.03 build 14 .

After some time (weeks) after a successful local login to the admin page subsequent attempt to login just hang. After entering the admin password the page changes and says "Waiting" under revolving circles. It will sit there for over 1 hour. I have tried IE, chrome and firefox on Windows 7 and Windows 8 on three different machines and it behaves the same. Of course I have to go through this same process with the support people every time and every time they come to the conclusion that I have to do a factory reset. But so far Linksys denies that there is a defect.

I recently upgraded my internet speed service from my ISP (Brighthouse). They installed a gateway to replace their old modem, but I have had it bridged so it should act as a modem. Speedtest.net shows downloads on the order of 40-50 Mbps and uploads around 5 Mbps. If I try doing something interactively that pushes the speed and size of files (like flying over Google earth using my mouse to guide the direction and speed) my connection seems to hang. I have to reset the router (unpower and repower it) to get my internet connection to work. This has also happened when I quickly downloaded a series of large images - I click to get the next page fairly soon after the current page has finished downloaded. My router is a WRT350N.

The LEDs stayed on as if nothing had happened, but the router was dropping everything coming from both the WAN and a wired LAN interface. Since than, I had to restart it 3 times during the last 3 days.The firmware is 1.53.0, which seems to be the latest firmware for the European market - even when I try to get a newer firmware, this site only offers the US version 1.02.2.Should I update the firmware to the US version 1.02.2 ? Is there any difference between the 1.53.0 and the 1.02.2 version ? Is there a way to restore the original firmware in case the update fails ? View 9 Replies View RelatedWe are using Cisco router (1941W model) and our the WAN interface keeps going down randomly (sometimes happened twice within 1 hour, sometimes worked fine for 2-3 days before getting disconnected). After getting disconnected, if we unplug the cable that connects our router to the fiber terminal and then plug in back, everything works fine immediately.
We had asked our Internet Provider to come 3 times to check the network line, renew the fiber terminal and do some investigations, they said there should be no issue on their side. If it's true then there must be something wrong with the router.
We also enabled ip accounting on the router and saw very low rate of small packets coming to WAN interface.
During the downtime, LAN interface still worked fine.
I have a WAP321. The unit hangs about on every day. Web interface and WLAN let not respond anymore. By a reset the unit will be back. I have put all unnecessary stale. Tracing the turned on, I can say nothing flashy.

Working perfectly.Alright, so to my issue. If I play any games on my PC/PS3, I will suddenly lose my connection for a second or two. Not long enough for me to disconnect from the game. But rather, what should have occured during that time, will just fly by in a split second. This happens, maybe, 2-4 times per hour. I haven't changed much more than the password in the router since i bought it about 3 months ago.Should add that I have a 100/100 fiber connection from Telia, and I drop like 2-3mbit/s from using the router, compared to going straight from the modem.

I didn't think the issue was with the router so i called the Tech Support people from Brighthouse and they told me to connect directly to the modem so i did that and I had internet. View 5 Replies View RelatedFew months back I had purchased this Router. But I did not use it till last week. Since the time I have installed it, it does freeze often (between 5 to 30 hours).
I can connect to devices within the subnet, but not elswhere. I have to remove the power and plug it back for it to respond. I have updated the firmware to the latest one that was on the Cisco site.
I am running a 1921 with 15.0(1)M4 on it. The router has a /29 public block assigned to it so I have a public IP for my router's GW, a public IP for the WAN interface on the router, a public IP for PAT and the three remaining public IPs I use them as static NATs for internal hosts.
My problem is that the particular static NAT assigned to static host1 seems to "hang" every few days. You can ping the public IP and it will respond but the rest of the services of the host like www, ftp and telnet do not respond. If I reboot the router then all services of host1 will work again. Note that all other static IPs including the ones used for static host2, host3 and PAT will always work and never give any problems.
I am fairly certain that this is not a config problem so I have shuffled around the public-to-private NAT entries. Basically whatever public IP I assign to this host1 will at some point hang. The host2, host3 and PAT always work and never hang no matter what public IP I issue to them.
So since it isn't a problem with the public IP I changed the private IP of host1 and still it hung!! This host1 happens to be a linux box. host2 and host3 are a Windows server and a different flavor linux if that make some kind of difference.
As i'm facing the issue with Cisco CSC module installed on ASA 5510, It hangs up and doesnt work sometime, so it is bypassing all the traffic without inspection through CSC module. After restarting ASA 5510 box, it works fine as it used to work. Now, My question is how can i refresh the module again without interrupting the ASA box/ and how can i avoid this problem forever? Because i cant interrupt the daily work due to this module problem by restarting the box again and again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife, daughter, mother and I recently moved into a place together. Since moving in together, our internet connection has been less than reliable. We use a motorola modem and a DLink DIR615 router. I have a desktop with a wireless card, and my mother has an all in one with a wireless card, so we both connect wirelessly to the internet. We also use iPhones and a PS3 for internet purposes. The DLink is my router from my family's old place before moving with my mother. The motorola modem is my mother's from her place. Prior to sharing a household, I never had a problem with the router dropping signal. She, however, did have a problem with it. She was using the motorola and a netgear router. So, with that out of the way, here's what happens. The internet works fine and the network shows as available, but then suddenly the internet just goes out in all areas of the house. The network no longer shows as available. It's fixed by unplugging the router for about 10 seconds and then plugging it back in. I've tried talking to DLink about it, thinking it was a problem with the router. They even sent me a replacement router because we couldn't figure out the problem, but even with the new one it's still happening. I can also add that while we were waiting for the replacement, we connected my mother's Netgear and it continued happening. When the new DLink came, I confirmed that the router has the latest firmware as well, just in case. I can add that since sharing a network, we've been getting an IP Address conflict message on both computers. We both have Windows 7. Can anybody shed some light on this? I have some knowledge of this kind of stuff but what's happening is way beyond my scope.

I cannot access its control panel, the network just goes kaput. Given that I don't have access to the router since it's part of a double house (the side I'm not on of course), this is getting beyond irritating to reboot it when this happens as that is the only way to fix it. The connections are even wired, too. What kind of money does it take to get a router that is going to STAY on and just work? I'm ready to dump some serious cash into this at this point because this happens at least twice a week anymore. I just want a router that works. It needs to be wireless as my neighbor does use his kindle on it every once and a while.
