I have Cisco 1841 Router with no WIC cards and USB.
Image is ipbase and on the flash. When it boots it gives the error and hangs - I changed the register value to 0x2142 but no change happened.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've a Cisco 5550 which hangs on powering up and stays at " Booting System, please wait..." forever and it has a flashing green Status LED.
The steps I've taken so far are:
1. Consoled with a different computer and tried to send the break signals (didn't work)
2. Open up the unit tried to remove the RAM's and reseated them again.
3. Taken out the CMOS battery on the board and replaced it with the new one (no luck still)
What is the next step, or shall I assume that the unit is dead.
today I received a Cisco 1841 Router with a problem i have never seen before. Maybe this my 1st really,really broken Cisco Router. When I power the Router on, the fan and all lights turn on (green) and that's it. Nothing changes, also after minutes of wating. On console i don't get any messages and I already tried every BAUD rate possible. Switched the router off/on again and again. And no, it's obviously not a console problem of my computer, because i tried with different routers.

This seems to be an ongoing issue for a customer. The symtom is present on 2811, 2911 and a 3945. The 3945 never spikes over 10% processor or memory utilization, yet still has these issues. The routers have been tested running 15.0(1)M5, 15.0(1)M7 and 15.1(4)M4 which all showed simular results. Other router side services are running such as NetFlow v9 to two destinations. Another interesting symtom, doing a "show ip nat translations" command will crash the router if executed at its peak usage period. NAT is to a single IP (sourced from outside interface), not a pool.

i have here an cisco 881 router which has been in service for about 3/4 year now.yesterday the device from one moment to an other stoped working the device does not respond on console, it does not boot (or seems to be booting) and is also not responsive on the reset hole.
powercycle has been attempted but without result. the only evidence that it is alive is the FA leds. they are all constant on.
I have 20 to 100 Mbps(FTTH) line at home. I am planning to put few servers online to serve web pages. I have tried them taking online with normal home dsl routers, but router hangs very frequently.

Hardware is E1000 v2 according to sticker on back.The firmware update failed (no reason given) and the router now hangs in limbo where all it does is flashing the power LED.I set my PC to 19?2.168.1.2 and TFTP'd the firmware over to 192.168.1.1 - no errors reported and 192.168.1.1 is pingable. Held reset for 30s, then powered down the router for another 30s. On power-up the router still flashes the power LED.

Connecting through a brand new DSL modem that I know works as I can get access through my old router.
My PC (Windows 7) is directly connected to the router. I got to the point where I named the router in the install process the first time, but then it hung.
Have tried to use the CD to re-setup with no success. I've tried the hard reset holding in the button for 10 seconds and unplugging but nothing has changed.
I have 2 X E4200 router, one is directly connected to the internet and the other is in the bridge mode connected to the first router. I have apple TV connected directly with the bridge router on one of the Ethernet port.I notice that when you start apple Airplay mirroring on the iPad2 both the routers will hangs with no reason and the only way to fix it is to reboot the routers. I have reset both the routers to factory default twice they both are running firmware 1.0.03 build 14 .

After some time (weeks) after a successful local login to the admin page subsequent attempt to login just hang. After entering the admin password the page changes and says "Waiting" under revolving circles. It will sit there for over 1 hour. I have tried IE, chrome and firefox on Windows 7 and Windows 8 on three different machines and it behaves the same. Of course I have to go through this same process with the support people every time and every time they come to the conclusion that I have to do a factory reset. But so far Linksys denies that there is a defect.

I recently upgraded my internet speed service from my ISP (Brighthouse). They installed a gateway to replace their old modem, but I have had it bridged so it should act as a modem. Speedtest.net shows downloads on the order of 40-50 Mbps and uploads around 5 Mbps. If I try doing something interactively that pushes the speed and size of files (like flying over Google earth using my mouse to guide the direction and speed) my connection seems to hang. I have to reset the router (unpower and repower it) to get my internet connection to work. This has also happened when I quickly downloaded a series of large images - I click to get the next page fairly soon after the current page has finished downloaded. My router is a WRT350N.

The LEDs stayed on as if nothing had happened, but the router was dropping everything coming from both the WAN and a wired LAN interface. Since than, I had to restart it 3 times during the last 3 days.The firmware is 1.53.0, which seems to be the latest firmware for the European market - even when I try to get a newer firmware, this site only offers the US version 1.02.2.Should I update the firmware to the US version 1.02.2 ? Is there any difference between the 1.53.0 and the 1.02.2 version ? Is there a way to restore the original firmware in case the update fails ? I haven't found any link to 1.53.0 version..Also, does this firmware updating affect my warranty ?

Sometimes it works fine but most of the time I get a really poor connection or it will say connected but no network access. Every other device has no issues whatsoever, I can even sit with my laptop behind my pc and have a decent connection. My connection speed is 30 gb up and 5 GB down.Until now I used a Linksys WRT54GV ver. 2 router to share my connection between my computers and NAS server and it worked ok. In speed tests I normally get approx 25 - 28 GB speed. To optain more speed on my LAN I want to buy a GB router. And here started my problems. First I tried a D-link DIR655, then a Netgear WNDR3700 and latest a Linksys E3000. I all 3 occations my WAN speed droped drasticaly down to between 3 - 5 GB speed, at under a ping test I have a loss of between 10 - 30 % and time on approx 50 ms.If I connect my PC directly to the modem or re-connect my old router it works perfect. I have tried to replace cables etc. etc.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I have a DIR-825, I got from a family member as they didn't need it anymore. (Don't know if its under any warranty at all) I have a few different problems with it:
1. It doesn't install correctly. I insert the disc, the "Checking adapter enabled" finishes quickly and easy. Then the "Checking network status..." goes for about 30 seconds - 1 minutes and then I get the "Your new router does not appear to be connected properly." It gives the Follow these steps message of checking connections/resetting/etc, which I have done multiple times without success.
2. Despite the failed install, I DO get an internet connection. It starts to get weird though. I have 3 different connections currently connected to it with the following properties:
Modem>Computer (Wired) - 16 MB/Second
Modem>Router>Computer (Wired) - 3 MB/Second
Modem>Router>Laptop (Wireless) - <1 MB/Second
Modem>Router>iPhone (Wireless) - 13 MB/Second
I've tried looking through the options on my router but nothing looks like it will work .
The Network icon in the notification area in the bottom right hand corner of my screen will almost always look like this:Quite frequently, though, I will get an exclamation mark inside a triangle with a message instead saying No internet access (I don't have a screenshot). If I give it a few seconds, usually never more than a minute (30 seconds on average it seems), it corrects itself and gives me back internet access.

I put in the correct encryption key.. however as soon as i got connected, it just kept saying *Authenticating* for about 5-10 minutes then it disconnects me.. What i can do to stop this?The router itself was installed on a shared computer (I live with several roomates) and that particular computer got replaced.. does that matter to the router? the new one doesn't have the program installed.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe WRT110 is hooked up to Cable through Comcast and works fine with LAN connections. The problem comes in with more than one wireless laptop tries to connect. First, it was loaded with 1.0.4 firmware and my girlfriend's XP laptop would connect but drop the connection a lot. My Windows 7 laptop wouldn't connect at all. After trying everything someone recommended upgrading the firmware to 1.0.7. Well, now my Windows 7 laptop connects but the XP laptop will not. The DHCP won't assign it an IP, although it says it's connected.
