Desktop PC Often Can't Connect Properly With Our Router
Mar 18, 2013
My desktop pc often can't connect properly with our router. Sometimes it works fine but most of the time I get a really poor connection or it will say connected but no network access. Every other device has no issues whatsoever, I can even sit with my laptop behind my pc and have a decent connection. This is what my CMD gave: [code] I even disabled all AVG functions and shut down any security measure of the router to see if would be more stable but to no avail.
I just did a reformat on my laptop, therefore I had to reconnect with my router. I put in the correct encryption key.. however as soon as i got connected, it just kept saying *Authenticating* for about 5-10 minutes then it disconnects me.. What i can do to stop this? The router itself was installed on a shared computer (I live with several roomates) and that particular computer got replaced.. does that matter to the router? the new one doesn't have the program installed.
My WinXP Home PC won't connect properly (limited connectivity/no internet) via ethernet cable to my router (Belkin N150). Ipconfig /all shows the IP address as 169.254.117.71 but this is determined by an entry in the registry at HLMSYSTEMCurre....'DhcpIPAddress' - REG_SZ - 169.254.117.71. Also listed at 'IPAutoconfigurationAddress'. My laptop connects fine plugged into the same port getting it's IP automatically (192.168.2.2) and getting internet fine. I've tried adding a DWORD entry 'IPAutoconfigurationEnabled' = 0, also tried deleting the 2 values.Tried setting the IP manually to 192.168.2.6 - limited connectivity goes away but I get no internet connection from the router nor file sharing.
I have a Dell Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit) laptop that I've had for maybe half a month. When I first got it, I had no problems connecting to my router. But starting a couple days ago, the WiFi would not connect properly. I have to use the troubleshoot feature a couple times on my computer for it to work. My other laptops and other devices have no problems connecting to my network.
Here is the ipconfig for when it does work: Quote:

Wi-Fi won't connect properly (different laptop).I posted a thread similar to this recently (url...) Unfortunately, I have another laptop that has the same problem. Here is some information:
I recently bought an asusg73jw xa1 from amazon and at first it worked just fine. But around a month later, when i started it up. It couldn't connect my home's wireless router or if it did, it would have no internet access. I'm pretty sure this problem isn't with my router because all the other laptops in my house can connect perfectly to my router at the same time. After around a week and i tried to connect again, the wireless started working again like nothing ever happened. This only lasted for around 3 days until my laptop once again could not connect to my router. Now the only way i can use the internet is if i connect my laptop to my router with a wire.
i have a 3g usb dongle and my desktop is connected by it. now i have netgear. now i wanted to make a wifi hotspot in my home.i have connected internet via 3g usb dongle, then in network and internet i have changed the change advance setting by making home and public sharing on. then i have connected LAN to desktop to router, then i have changed internet protocol 4 in properties of LAN, by taking the IP address, subnet mask, gateway,DNS server of my service provider and applying same to LAN IPv4. i have doubt that gateway was 0.0.0.0 which was not accepted by LAN.i have left it blank.
I got D-LINK DIR 651 Wireless Router, so i upgrade this Router to this firmware 1.10NA, release on Aug-24-2012, after this this i configure thois Router with my Modem MOTOROLA SB5101N. So the internet is working fine about an hour, there after on my Modem Send/Received light totally goes OFF, now there is no internet at all in my Home.So i unplug all & i connect my Modem directly to my PC after this i am getting internet perfectly on my PC. Then i call to my ISP they said this is not their problem from theoir site all OK.
Well i am currently using a BSNL DNA A211-1 wifi modem-cum-router with a wireline inbetween my PC (win7 ultm) & the router, so as to connect to the internet. i use the wifi feature of my router to connect my samsung gts5570 wifi enabled phone as well as a few other wifi enabled devices, to use internet on them. now i was thinking whether i can connect my desktop pc to my mobile phone using this wifi router somehow? how can that be done since there is already 2 different network that exist between my pc & router thru wireline & my mobile & the router thru wifi, all i need is a way to sync these to networks into one, so that my pc & my mobile use internet & at the same time they connect to each other as well.
We are planning 3 Internet Connections into our building. 1 will be for actual Internet traffic, 2nd for Voip phone system, and 3rd for internal network for Active Directory...etc. Oh the AD servers are controlled by another business so technically this line is still considered and outside line and is a T1. What I need to know is how best to make this all work so that our internet phones use the VOIP system, computers can log into the domain and access that network but use the Internet network for actual internet traffic? We were considering a series of managed switches and creating 3 VLAN's but I'm thinking we instead need a new router that all 3 networks connect to and dishes out DHCP to computers and phonesn example network is below.192.168.1.x ----> Internet (all computers use for internet traffic)72.10.10.x ----> VOIP (All physical and software phones use this network)10.10.10.x -----> Connection to external company that controls our network and has domain controllers, mainframe...etc.
Yesterday when I got home from college my computer randomly could not connect properly to my wireless modem. It tells me the SSID etc but when I connect to it, it becomes an unidentified network and has no internet connectivity. This problem only occurs on my laptop via wifi, wifi still works fine on other computers and my phone so I assume it is a problem on my laptops end. Also my laptop can connect to other wireless networks, ie my schools public network, and they work fine. I'm running windows 7 home premium.
I have an Asus N10E laptop that won't properly connect wirelessly, Windows home ver 2002 installed, Atheros AR5007EG wireless adapter, ATT DSL modem, and Cisco Linksys E2000 wireless router. My other computers connect without difficulty. Connection says it is authenticated and excellent but browsere won't load - "Can't resolve domain name". I also tried to download the TSGSysInfo but avast! says it has a virus.
I have a DIR-655 (RevA) which I have been very happy with when used with a broadband wireless ISP. We just recently obtained Frontier DSL and I want to use my already configured DIR-655 with the new service. I have successfully bridged the Westell 7500 DSL modem provided by Frontier (DHCP server turned off, mode set to bridge-bridge.) I tested this by attaching a laptop and verifying that it was assigned a WAN IP address and that I could ping resources on the Internet.
When I attach the DLink and start it up, it gets a WAN address and everything looks good, but I can not ping (from the router) to any resource on the Internet (by IP address), including the assigned gateway. It goes without saying that computers attached to the DIR-655 are also unable to ping addresses on the Internet. Oh, I have cloned the Westell modem's MAC address to the DLink router as well.
Any special settings in the DIR-655 that are required to work with Frontier/Verizon's DSL network? Or compatibility issues? and I've updated to the 1.35NA firmware.
I have problem connecting the wifi router to my desktop (running Windows XP) through LAN. When i connect the internet cable directly to my desktop, it was working. But when i connect the internet cable to wifi router, then a LAN cable from router to desktop, my desktop is showing that the network cable was disconnected. I have used the different lan cable too. I have used the reset function too. But the problem was not solved. I am getting the wifi access. But the connection between the router and the desktop was not established.
Desktop won't connect to internet. I have a Belkin router and my laptops connect to the internet. My Netflix Rokus connects to the internet.I have tried your suggestion with reset winsock and reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, etc. [code]
Our Comcast broadband goes to our modem then our router (Linksys) before splitting off to our desktop & our Ooma unit. I run our netbook off of the wireless but the desktop & Ooma are physically connected to two of the router's ports. This afternoon I lost the ability to connect to the internet with the desktop. Ooma works and so does my netbook. The computer finds the connection and says it's working fine when I try to diagnose the problem, but none of my browsers (Chrome, Firefox or IE) are able to connect to the network. Thunderbird and gmail notifier also can not connect.Using command prompt I can successfully ping any website I try.I have tried everything I could think of:
Powered down and restarted PCU New network card Disabled Norton New cord from router to network card Switched connection so it was directly from modem to PCU Reinstalled browsers
I don't know what else I can try. The computer is not allowing me to run a system restore. It says that the disk is damaged and must be repaired. But it will not allow me to repair it because the disk is running? It seems to me that there is a setting or security issue that is blocking my access to the network?
I have a WRYT54GS router. I just got a new high speed internet satalite install. The router works well with two laptops wirelessly. The desk top uses a wireless USB connection, Linksys 2500. The problem is that before the satalite install, the desk top worked well with the card to connect. Now, the card connects with thw router but does not connect with the internet. I have reinstalled the 2500 software and looked at all that I could but it still does not connect with the internet but does with the router. Any one out there have a thought on this
I just installed an older router (WRT120N). Purchased an adapter for desktop and wireless connection for destktop works. Cannot get other devices to use the wifi (iphone, ipod, android phone...). I am at a loss. Saw some suggestions about disabling a Upn or something under the router's LAN properties
Connected my Dell laptop to the E1000 using the enclosed disk, easy install and no problems with wireless connection. Created a USB via the install disk to connect the Dell desktop (XP pro SP3). When running installing received error pop up "installation not compete" contact Linksys support for assistance. Disabled all internet connections and tried a manual installation but failed. Should I just purchase a wireless USB addapter?
I have a Netgear DGN3500 wireless modem router that I'm trying to setup on my Dell desktop "Dimension C521". I get the error message "Ethernet adaptor required". I'm not sure why I am encountering the error message, as I have successfully installed a modem previously on the desktop via a ethernet cable.
Can I connect a WGA54G (v2.1) to a standalone desktop PC running XP Pro SP3 in order to access a wireless router. I'm trying to eleminate wires and I have a spare WGA54G so I hated to buy a wireless card for the PC if I don't need to
I simply, can't install Cisco Connect. I want to because it has the parental controls and guest SSID controls. When I try to install, the progress bar get's to 25% and then stops - the next screen says "Our Customer Support team can help. Your router was not successfully setup." I reset the modem and have my computer plugged in to port 1 while I try to install the software. I have been able to setup the router manually. It works great. My issue is that I can't install Cisco Connect desktop software for Mac.
I have the WUSB600N wireless adapter, and I'm using it with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I'm using the latest driver available, 3.0.10.0. When Windows first starts, the adapter is not working properly and fails to connect to any networks, no matter how long I wait. If I unplug it and plug it back in after Windows is already running, I do not have this issue. This also does not occur when "restarting" the machine; only when turning the machine off and then back on.
My laptop has Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030 internet card but the computer can not connect to the modem properly, the speed is always not the speed that I purchased
I'm trying to connect to my home laptop from work. The home laptop is connected to DIR-655 router. I set up the internal and external ports to 3389 using both TCP and UDP protocols with the Application as "Remote Desktop". From my work PC I enter the external IP with :3389 and it fails to connect. I have also tried accessing internally which is failing too. All computers are running Windows 7 Home Premium Remote Access is enable on all.
I have a Netgear CVD31T modem delivered by my internet provider. I can't change any settings on the modem. My connection speed is 30 gb up and 5 GB down.Until now I used a Linksys WRT54GV ver. 2 router to share my connection between my computers and NAS server and it worked ok. In speed tests I normally get approx 25 - 28 GB speed. To optain more speed on my LAN I want to buy a GB router. And here started my problems. First I tried a D-link DIR655, then a Netgear WNDR3700 and latest a Linksys E3000. I all 3 occations my WAN speed droped drasticaly down to between 3 - 5 GB speed, at under a ping test I have a loss of between 10 - 30 % and time on approx 50 ms.If I connect my PC directly to the modem or re-connect my old router it works perfect. I have tried to replace cables etc. etc.
So I have a DIR-825, I got from a family member as they didn't need it anymore. (Don't know if its under any warranty at all) I have a few different problems with it:
1. It doesn't install correctly. I insert the disc, the "Checking adapter enabled" finishes quickly and easy. Then the "Checking network status..." goes for about 30 seconds - 1 minutes and then I get the "Your new router does not appear to be connected properly." It gives the Follow these steps message of checking connections/resetting/etc, which I have done multiple times without success.
2. Despite the failed install, I DO get an internet connection. It starts to get weird though. I have 3 different connections currently connected to it with the following properties:
want to put local working apache server behind the edimax router.so i check Enable Port Forwarding and add it:Current Port Forwarding Table:1 192.168.2.100 TCP+UDP 80i check it and restart it and is not working. how to do it now?
I recently replaced a Linksys wireless router with a Netgear wireless router(provided by Comcast) to the modem in my house. I used my HP Pavilion as the computer to run the setup disk and the wireless wizard to link the new router to the modem. I unplugged my HP from the router and proceeded to setup my computer on the wireless network.
