I have a Linksys ea3500 router to which I have connected a WD My Book external drive via the USB port. When I view the router's webpage, I can see my drive listed under the storage tab; however, I cannot map the drive on my laptop. Whenever I try to do so, it gives me the 0x80070035 error. If I run the Windows diagnostic, it tells me the drive will not accept the connection.

View 2 Replies View RelatedTransfer speed for sending or receiving files from a USB external HDD connected to the router is slow? Speed ranging from 2MB - 4MB/s. The HDD is definitely capable of at least 80MB/s if plugged directly into the PC. Is it meant to be this slow or there's a fix somewhere which I'm not aware of? Thought it's suppose to be the top of the line products but seems so inferior if I were to compare with other high end routers in the market which performs better, faster and definitely much cheaper.

I have a 2800 with one Gigabit interface connection to our Lan and the other interface connected to the internet with a public IP address. Now I'd like to setup the router to resolve both internal and external DNS requests. Thus requests like www.google.co.za and LocalLanPcName should be resolved to their public and private IP's respectively. [code] When I ping any name the only DNS server that is ever queried is 192.168.1.200 (it does resolve internal name correctly though).
None of the other servers are attempted to resolve the name. It does not matter if I specify a FQDN or not.
How do I setup the router so that my internal resolution is handled by 192.168.1.200 and .201, while external resolution is handled by 41.160.36 and .37. Or alternatively, how do I configure it to at least try all 4 specified name-servers for resolution, and not fail after trying the first one unsuccessfully.

View 1 Replies View Related just got a Vizio E3D320VX TV and it will connect to my E4200V2 2.4Ghz N-band, but not the 5Ghz N-band. Both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz are configured virtually identical: 1) both are Wireless-N Only, 2) both auto channel width, 3) both WPA2 Personal security, 4) both SSID broadcast disable.
The only differences are: 1) obviously the SSIDs and 2) I manually set the 2.4Ghz channel to the least used in my area. I kept the 5Ghz channel auto.To connect to 2.4Ghz, in the Vizio TV network settings, I left their settings to Auto (DHCP), and put in the SSID name. The TV searches for it, sees that it's WPA2PSK and asks for the password. Put it in and boom it works.When I try on 5Ghz (again on "Auto"/DHCP for the TV), I put in the SSID, and the TV "thinks" about it for awhile, then says something like "Cannot connect, please try another Wireless Access Point". It never gets to the point where it asks for the WPA2 password.
The TV is downstairs and the E4200V2 is upstairs, but I used my iPad2 in the same room and it connects to the 5Ghz with no problem. But just in case the TV has a 5Ghz reception problem, I set the channel width to wide/40Mhz and bumped tried a couple of the higher channels (149 and 161), and it still won't connect.I also went into Administration and turned on logging to try to see what is happening when the TV tries to connect, but for some reason nothing is logging, not even my other devices' traffic -- very strange (yes I hit Save Settings after enabling logging).
I have WRT54G router. The VIZIO VBR231 unit finds the network OK and indicates it is connected, but nothing will stream, and when I run a Network Test it gives me this 3 line error:
Connection to 0.0.0.0... successfully established
Resolving... could not be established
Please check your connection and try again.
The VIZIO support folks were not beneficial at all, and said something about Port 80 or Port 43 not being open or available. When I talked to linksys support, they said I needed to add the VIZIO player's IP (which appears to be 0.0.0.0 in the system settings). I poked around a bit, including the Port Forwarding tab on the router setup, but could not see a way to assign 0.0.0.0 to one of these ports, and I am hesitant to experiment.
I'll probably just return the unit to Costco, but I'm trying this forum as a last ditch effort. BTW I have a VIZIO internet TV that I love, and that had absolutely no problem at all connecting to the wireless.
I have a WRT110 and a Vizio smart TV - just changed internet providers to NuLink to get a Mbps line - previously had AT&T DSL 1.5 - when tech power cycled router every laptop and smartphone in the house connected with no issue - TV did not connect (it was on during time tech was doing install) - attempted to connect with password, failed to connect multiple times - sometimes message 'DCHP connection not available' message was displayed - called Vizio, 1 hour and 9 minutes of troubleshooting with no success, according to Vizio tech all settings on TV good recommended I contact Lynksys and ask them to ' check 2 ports - port 80 and port 446' - also advise 'connection is autopopulating to 101' - I believe he was referring to the IP address request - router set to WPA2 personal - note that when I first got TV 3 months ago I was able to connect to router no problem, but I do not know if TV had connection the day we switched internet providers. I do have 2 fixed IP addresses entered an one of them ends in '101' - I do not know if that is significant or not. The main reason for the internet switch was to get the TV online, disappointed that I could not get it done.

Problem, Just got brand new EA4500 router and Motorola SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 High-Speed Cable Modem Model: 575319-019. I have 2 new vizio big screen tv's with internet apps. All was working fine and had no problems but occasional drops or limited access.
One day BOTH TV's could no longer connect. However, The tv's will connect to another access point. therefore the problem does not exist in the TV/s and has to be a problem in my access point (I.E. Router allowing access). Additionally, all other devices connect and work fine. I have already unplugged everything for an extended period of time. Checked for updates on firmware and verified no software needed to be updated. Rebooted router... Am using wpa-psk and feel i shouldn't have to go weep as it was working fine...
I'm going to lay out my equipment and how Id like to set it up. Im hoping to get some feedback on specific settings for my equipment as I am rather clueless. How I'd like to have everything running:internet through the gateway (obviously)E3200 setup as wireless router with HD and TV connected.NAS on E3200 for backups and dropping files on to watch on TV both laptops login manually to VPN service.I was previously able to create a symbolic link in windows for dropping files onto NAS easily enough. I wasn't able to see the HD on the TV using it's MediaShare function. That was one of the main reasons why I got the E3200 with USB port.Also, when I connected the TV to the E3200 after setting up my previous RG with E3200 I couldn't get internet signal. With the DLNA function of the TV I'm thinking it might be a situation where I have to access the symbolic folder on my computer in order to access the NAS. This would probably be a painfully slow nightmare but the only solution I can think of.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased the dir-655 router, and am impressed by it's speed. I had no problems configuring the router to my liking, and have found that all of my wireless devices communicate with it flawlessly.
However, my main reason for purchasing this router was for the USB port. I had hoped to connect my 2TB external drive and have it accessible by all wireless devices in my home. To my understanding, the USB port relies on the use of the Shareport Utility. I've installed the Shareport Utility to my laptop for wireless access to my media files for streaming.
Here's my problem. How can I access my media on my external HDD connected to the dir-655 with Apple TV2? I've read several options for PS3 users... and they all seem to involve leaving the pc/laptop running. I would ultimately like to bypass the necessity of leaving my laptop on... but if that's not a possibility, I can live with it being left on.
Therefore, is it possible to access the external drive connected to the dir-655 with my Apple TV 2 by using the laptop as a bridge? Can I access the content via Apple TV by using Windows SMB just as I currently do to access media stored on my laptop?
To summarize, I want to have access to the media on my external drive connected to the dir-655 via Apple TV2.

I was able to configure the cisco to accept VPN connections from clients. But when i am connected i can not access the VPN LAN. My cisco VPN client shows all the time Packet Decrypted: 0 when connected. I tried the split tunneling configuration based on the example on cisco.com for split tunneling.
I include config for better understanding. The outside interface is fa0/1 with ip 10.0.0.2 w LAN 10.0.0.0 Inside interface fa0/0 with ip 192.168.10.9 w LAN is 192.168.10.0

I just realized that my internet is slow when my antenna is on top of my computer. I have a pci card with an external antenna connecting to it. If it's on top of my computer, my internet is slow, but if I move it three feet in front of it, it's fast. This makes me think that my computer is somehow blocking or conflicting with the signal. Is this normal, or is there something I can fix in my computer? Download speeds with the antenna on top are around 0.54Mbps, and if I put it as far away as I can, I get around 20Mbps.

Laptop running 7, desktop running XP Pro. 2 days ago it was working fine. Yesterday it stopped working. I have made no changes that I can think of. All of the folders on the desktop and external drive that I want shared are set up for sharing. So, my question is, what do I need to do to again be able to read and write to these folders, especially the ones on the external hard drive. I believe the adjustment has to be made on the desktop, either in the network connections or the file sharing, but the laptop may need adjusted as well.

My Wifi is provided by a Linksys E3000 running DD-WRT software. NAT/SPI are disabled on the E3000, and it forwards DHCP requests to the Astaro. All my network clients connect via wifi/ethernet to the E3000.
All clients --> E3000 (no firewall) --> Astaro --> www
I am considering setting up my own personal cloud server using a Synology NAS that I can access remotely. I would also like to remotely access my Surveillance DVR. I would like to access them via VPN or portforwarding. I do not want to use DMZ.
I would like to utilize the SPI firewall on the E3000 to provide an extra layer of defense. I would like the NAS and the DVR to be on an external LAN between the Astaro and the E3000...and all other clients being on an internal LAN behind the E3000. I have the necessary switches/cables to make this work.
My question is...How do I configure the E3000? Can I have both the internal and external LANs on the same subnet? Do I have to use the NAT on the E3000? I'd rather not...since that will render the Astaro's reporting functions rather worthless.
I would like the Astaro to remain the only DHCP server. I would like all internal LAN clients to be able to reach out to the external LAN/WAN...but the external LAN should not be able to reach into the Internal.
Trying to get a service setup with a third party to access our system (ERP web service to access our ERP data, making data available to customers and vendors via internet). They require that I setup four external IP addresses to have access through the firewall. I haven't figured out how to do this. I'm using a Linksys WRV200 router.

I have been receiving error messages that the router, model F9K1105 v3, was not connected periodically. The "fix it" option usually took care of it. Then I noticed that the indicator for the modem was showing the color grey instead of blue. I also became unable to access the settings with the default IP. I wasn't able to fix this so I tried to reinstall the software and reset the modem to just start all over. I was unable to get the computer to detect the router during setup. Unplugged, tried new cable etc. No luck. It was still saying it was unable to connect, and still unable to get to setup page. I happened to notice I WAS online and can connect to the router wirelessly with an Iphone.
What can I do to get the software to see that I am connected and how do I get to the setup page? Basically get everything to work like it did when I first installed it. Eventually I want to connect my old router to this one and use it as an access point.
I have two ASA 5505's. One is currently setup as my firewall connected to the Cox Cable modem and wireless AP. I have another ASA that I would like to use, I have an idea that I could set that one up as a VPN unit, but not sure how I could do that. Server A (192.168.1.6) is setup with the forwarding of ports 22, 23, and 115 and can be seen with the ip address x.x.x.18. An external company needs to access the other server and is requesting an external IP for Server B (192.168.1.5) which need the same ports open along with 6200.What is the best way to set this up with what they have?
