Sharing :: Deny Access To Folders On Main Computer Using Admin Accounts

My home network is all Windows 7 computers (4 total), and are Ultimates except for my laptop, which is Home Pro. So that's 3 computers with Ultimate and 1 with home pro. I have one computer (also Win 7 Ult.) that's my primary computer, the other 2 computers are mostly HTPC computers that I have set up to stream from my main computer.I do know how to set up Home groups for sharing files, but I could only set it up that there would be full access to the shares or no access at all. [For simplicity: My primary computer will be PC-1, the 2 HTPC's will be PC-2 and PC-3, and my laptop PC-4.]PC-1 will host all the files I want access to. PC-2 and PC-3 will access my music and videos folders for streaming. PC-4 which is my own personal laptop will have full access to shared folders that I DO NOT want being able to be accessed on PC-2 and PC-3.I have tried many and various types of ways to deny access from PC-2 and PC-3, where PC-4 would be allowed access to on my PC-1, but every time it's either all PC's get access or NO access to the shared folders. I also want to keep all my user accounts as admins.
How to protect shared folders to denie access from server???i am really in need of a software where i can share files on network but i don't want the system administrator to access those files.
I am able to ping and remote dial into my Main PC from laptop, but I am not able to access its folders from my laptop. I can access the network folders on my laptop from my Main PC, so I am confused. I have performed the ipconfig release and renew and flush the DNS and still no success.
Suddenly Can't access shared folders but others can . Laptop with Vista. Had many Mapped [COLOR=blue !important][COLOR=blue ! important]Network [COLOR=blue ! important]Drive[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR] issues about 2 months ago. Finally all resolved. Laptop was gone from our shop for about 2 weeks. Now it cannot see the Shared Folders (except for Public and Printers), and could not re-connect the Mapped Drives. Accesses Internet, can Ping the other PCs(all running Win7). Connect thru Wireless.
Why SUDDENLY, there are no shared folders visible on a Laptop?
Notes: This is the 2nd time this has happened. I changed alot of settings the first time. I re-checked all the settings this time.
Update: Magically works today 12-3-12. But what caused it? Why does Vista loose the ability to map network drives, when nothing
changes...I still want to know why for the next time this happens.
I have a small network running in my language academy which is causing me some issues. We have a server running Win XP with two folders, one for the teachers which is password protected and the other for the students which doesn't require a password. Up until two days it has been working well. However now the server keeps disconnecting from the internet quite randomly which stops us from connecting to the shared folders.
I've noticed that a caution icon appears next to the ethernet icon in the task bar when this problems occurs on the server. I have tried to right click and choose the repair option but it tell me that it cannot resolve the ip address. In some cases rebooting the server resolves the issues but in many case it doesn't.
I want to set it up so that when you log into any of the ACS 5.2 servers you have to use your AD credentials to log in and define what access you have. Is this possible? If so, how can this be set up?
All my gmail accounts open normally to the first page, but the mouse cursor just highlights whatever I hit. It will not open to the relevant messages or any other action.The sign out function works, so I can go to my other accounts, but the same problem persists.It had been working fine for several years.All the accounts are fully functional when I use my ipod or go to another desktop.
How do I setup remote login that would allow 3 or 4 people to login to the same computer. Each person would have their own Windows User Account name, with different privileges.I don't know what software could do this. Before, I can access admin panel of router via 192.168.1.1 on any computer, be it wired or wireless.This time, I can't anymore.This time, I can only access admin panel on 1 computer only. The computer in which it's directly connected to the router, wired. All other computers, connected to a switch, which the switch is also connected to router, can no longer access admin panel.I can still open 192.168.1.1 with a username/password prompt but I can't log in. When i trying sharing folder in LAN ... using different windows OS .. win Xp and Win 7 ... sharing done but giving me the option as |Enter user name and Password | i done that but this option appeared again when hit enter... (user name and password given were correct). (Sharing folder/s IN LAN as what meant by Poweruser and it is must the others would be members of poweruser for sharing purpose?)
I'm trying to network my computer that runs XP to my friends laptop that runs Windows 7. He's created a homegroup and he's turned his file sharing on but he can't see my computer and I can't see his. He also can't share his public folder, it says "folder can not be shared." I have another computer on my network that runs XP and I can see that one on my network just fine and it can see my computer.
Is it possible to share files and folder over wifi internet just as with wired internet ? I have 2 Laptops with built in wifi adapter. Can i make them share files and folders through wifi. (No Router or other hardware)

My Vista can not open/view XP files, though XP can open/view Vista's.My Vista can ping my XP. My XP can ping my Vista.My XP can open/view files on my Vista. But when using my Vista, and I click on the XP computer showing in my Nwtwork to open my XP wireless laptop (Averatec) files, I get the error message (many have seen before): [code] I turned off all firewalls and all anti-virus software.All computers have the identical Workgroup name. My team are using shared folders on dropbox, but we are having issues where some of the shared files will not appear for some users.I've created a shared folder, and all users have accepted invitations to the folder, but it will not appear in one user's dropbox (neither desktop or in web browser), but it does appear in other user's dropbox.I'm having this issue with several shared folders.The dropbox folder is being shared between 1 pc and 2 macs.I've tried re-inviting & clearing the dropbox cache to no success.
I am unable to connect to my desktop's shared folders, and get the message "network path not found" when attempting to go into the desktop. The desktop is connected to the router wirelessly, a pace 2wire gateway, and wirelessly on the laptop. I can see it in the list of devices connected to the gateway, as well as the network folder. I am unable to ping my desktop from the laptop, but i can do so the other way around (desktop can ping my laptop). This is despite turning off windows firewall on the desktop. This started happening right when i got the SP2 upgrade for the desktop, it's a vista system.
How can I view a websites files/folders without an account? I'm not trying to 'hack' anything or obtain any data which isnt mine, Theres a website with drivers on it but I dont want to download each 1 indivudually, I would just like to view the folder via filezilla then and queue them all for download.
I have a small office (7) people and I don't have Active Directory setup. I'm wondering what is the best/easiest way to setup a place on a network server for the team to connect and put files that will then be backed up. With Active Directory this used to be a snap but I don't have much experience outside that realm. Here is how I'd like it to work:1) I login to server as admin, create the individual folders that users can map to. Example: Software Downloads, Jason, Robert, Billy, Carol2) I'd like to be able to set the security on the folders to say that everyone can view certain one but Jason can't view Roberts folder etc.
I am trying to share a printer on Windows Server 2003 machine so that my other computers can access the print share from my server. originally i was hosting the print server from one of the workstations (running Windows XP SP2). I now want the printer share to be hosted from the server. I set up the printer correctly (to my knowledge). i was able to set it up and print a test page. But when i go into properties and attempt to share the printer, i click on Share this Printer and enter in a name, i designate it to list the printer in the directory. Then i click apply and ok... and nothing happens. the printer is not shared. When i go back into properties, it shows that i am not sharing the printer.
I am trying to transfer files from Laptop A to Laptop B. I can transfer files from B to A, but I can't transfer them from A to B. When I try to, I get an error message saying "Windows cannot access Laptop A".It then gives me the option to diagnose the problem (I'm using Vista on both laptops, by the way). When I click that, it gives me the error of "Cannot communicate with Laptop A. We pinged the remote host but did not receive a response".Laptop A is connected to the network according to it, it can access the internet fine and can access other laptops on the network fine. I have disabled the firewall, shared the folders appropriately, made sure they were both on the same workgroup (they are both on the default Vista WORKGROUP), and still nothing.
My computer at work crashed so I had to reinstall windows 7.When it was working properly I was able to connect to our main server computer. After the reinstall I am able to connect to the internet however I am unable to connect main server computer. Usually, before it crashed, the server would automatically show up in the networks folder. Now all I can see it my computer and not the server computer.If someone knows how I can get my computer connecting to the main server I have tried everything and nothing is working.The main server computer it Windows XP and my computer is Windows 7.
i replaced a lightning damaged Linksys router in my home network with the RT-N56U. My main computer is Win7 64, (Phenom II quad, asus M490GTD) , my wife's computer(wired connection, Dell P5Duo) and my work laptop (wireless connection HP core I5) are XP. I have a USB printer attached to the wife's computer and two wireless Squeezebox receivers. This network worked with the old router. With the new router i can access internet from all computers, and connect to the new network with the Squeezeboxes. I cannot print from the main computer, even though the printer shows up in the devices window and the test page spools.
I have at last got the wireless router today and set it up. A few teething problems but I have the internet and so does my wife now. And, I have my computer back! The new wireless router is a D-Link DSL-2740R. There are two things I can't get sorted out, I put admin into the user name and I can't seem to find a way to change the user name I managed to get the laptop (WinVista 32bit my comp is Win764bit) seeing the media from my computer but not other files and printer. I had previously set up a user under 'share' to enable the link between the computers and using the old Belkin it worked fine. Alas that is not the case and want it to get the sharing going. The 'Share' user is still setup and I could not see it, or I have forgotten how to access it?
I have a desktop computer which is connected to the router by cable, but when this computer is on I can't connect to the wireless network with any other devices.When I turn the main computer off though I can connect fine with any wireless device.
I have 2 computers (one is using windows 7, other is using windows xp), one switch and router. I don't have physical access to router. I have plugged the cable from router to switch, and connected both PC's to switch and now I have internet on both PC's.My question is, can I "control" or share files on windows xp with Windows 7 (main computer) and in same time have access to internet? Or to use windows 7 to connect to internet?
My Main computer (which has a wired connection to router) internet is running so slow, i mean so slow that i cannot even do a speed test, it keeps failing, im continuously getting server timed out messages when browsing, and to watch a youtube video of 1 minute long it will take about 5 - 10 minutes to stream it before i can watch it. However despite the above the two laptops and ipad work great, i have a braodband speed of around 16megs. Now here is everything i have done so far. After calling my ISP to se if it was their fault, which it turned out not to be, they got me to change all the DNS and IP settings to manual, they gave me all the numbers to put in. Again that did not work so i used namebench to find the quickest DNS servers for me, that didnt work ethier so i just reverted all settings back to automatic as they were before.
I got a problem with my setup main computer, It work wery god wireless, with very fine speed about 82 mbit in and 24 mbit out. The problem is that it almost don't work at all with cable, even if i turn off the wireless network, the speed is about 2-3 mbit in and about 6-7 mbit out All other computers, tv. printer wireless work very fine.
i have Cisco L3 switch configured with diff vlan and assign diff subnet for all vlan . if i connect pc to vlan 2 i am able to ping host related to other vlan

I need developing a acl that can block a computer on the LAN from accessing the internet from midnight to 7am everyday. The router is a 857W, the computer is 192.168.2.33 the internal gw 192.168.2.254 (dialer 1 is 1.2.3.4).acl 101 deny tcp host 192.168.2.33 eq wwwwhat I need to figure out is how to add a time based acl to just this computer.
