Bought this adsl router on Friday and since then I have been experiencing random frequent wireless dropouts, router appears to reboot at this point too, Internet drops out too. Wireless drops as I hear the beep from my airplay speaker reconnecting. Any one have these issues too, tired changing channels, then back to auto again, still no joy.

Using windows 7 and 8 on different machines I am unable access my routers web based set up.
I enter the usual "admin" and password in the login box. 3 goes and then get error message. or hangs on waiting.(connected to the router with Ethernet Cable). Could this be a windows based problem. I think it was ok on XP but that is gone now. Router is working fine but I just cant access it to alter any settings.
My 2 other spare routers which are not TP-link also have the same problem.
Where do you turn this option off? i have looked under security and did not see any thing.

Well most strange is that everything is working.I kept my internet access as well as the computer and printer access.The only thing I lost is access to the router admin page.The password it was not defaulted to admin, neither kept the password that I had set up.

I used the url filter utility inside the router program. I put some url for example www.google.com, I wanted to try the filtering cababilty, Later I deleted all these adresses , but unfortunatley it keeps telling me the following message: "The system returned: (110) Connection timed out The remote host or network may be down. Your cache administrator is webmaster@proxy1."

In trying to make sure it was NOT wide open to the internet (amongst many other problems of setting it up, which I ,may address later if I can actually connect to the thing ever again) I told it to only accept connections from a range of address inside the LAN. Now it wont accept anything except telnet from the LAN.Short of wiping out 6 hours of trial and error configuration and resetting it, are there any other options I can exercise via the telnet interface?

Just installed my new 8960 and it's working fine. However, I'd like to disable admin access from wireless, and only have that available via the LAN. I can't find anything that looks like it'll do that in any of the setup pages, is it possible? All previous wireless routers I've had have been able to do this.

I haven't played with network and firewall configs for a number of years now, but I want to configure my new TD-W8968 to block all unsolicited internet traffic/hacks.
My DIR-655 has worked well for 3 months; both Ethernet and wireless. Yesterday I accidentally deleted this WiFi router from my Kindle Fire list of WiFi connections. Now, when I try to re-establish Kindle wireless logon, the router will not accept the previously used password.As a non-techno-geek, I tried to find this in the DIR-655 manual. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to configure some settings on my modem and to do so I must access it from it's ip (192.168.250.1). However, when I load that ip in my browser it does not connect.
My router has a private ip of 192.168.0.1 because of a Double NAT issue which I am trying to fix by going to the modem's configuration page. I am pretty sure that it is 192.168.250.1 because that is what my router ISP Gateway says, along with ipconfig in cmd when I directly connected to the modem from my computer.
By the way, I am currently connected through my D-Link 254 router which is connected to my WiMax modem.
I have 60+ website domains to allow on my network using Website Fitering. Is it possible to expand it or is there another router out there that has a large amount of domain allowing or blocking?

During the upgrade, the message said I wouldn't be able to access the webpage until 75 secs. I watched it count down the seconds and then when it refreshed, I could not get to my routers page: 192.168.1.2
The DLink Router is connected as a pass through router to my FIOS router, so that I can use the wired ports and I use the DLink as my wireless router (fios router wireless strength was poor).
All the lights on the router are working as though everything is ok. I am still connected to the Internet, so it appears that the pass through of my wired ports is still working after the firmware upgrade, but wireless is not. Not surprising. I expect I may have to upload my settings (which I did save), but since I cannot get to the routers page, I feel a bit stuck.

I am using D-Link DIR-615, I need to ask is it possible that i change the error page "Forbidden Web Access" ? I have blocked some websites and i dont want ppl know that it is blocked by router because in D-Link default error msg it is clearly mentioned that " This page is not included in the router's Allowed Web Site List". Two week ago I bought the TD-W8970 ADSL router model. Im using a canon pixma IP4700 printer connected to the router USB print server port and everything is working without any issues if I just look to the router functionalities.
However since that Ive installed TP-LINK USB Printer Controller, my both computers (desktop with windows 7 and laptop with windows 8) are getting very often some BSOD.
I was editing all files automatically generated by windows on this cases and if seems that the cause of this issue is the file TplinkUDSMBus.sys (installed by USB Printer Controller).
To check the impact of this, Ive uninstalled the TP-LINK USB Printer Controller software from my laptop and I dont have any BSOD since 5 days ago. In the desktop Im still have the same issue.
The router print server is a nice functionality and I really want to use it.

I am trying to set up port forwarding on this router but it seems I need to use virtual servers but in all the guides there is a menu for this under the advance settings nat menu.I do not have that option, I have downloaded the latest firmware but still nothing.
I'm using my 655 as a WAP, so nothing is connected to the WAN port. Since I run a SBS2008 in my home, I also have the 655's DHCP disabled.If I enable Network Filtering, everything inbound/outbound on the LAN ports works except accessing the Admin page. Even if I put the connecting PC's LAN MAC in the tablet.

Im having issues setting up port forwarding with my Synology NAS.
My house is all connected via network cable, going to a main 24-port switch, which is connected to a Modem/Router (TP-LINK in this case). I can access the NAS from anywhere on my home network, send and receive is fine. I previously used a Billion modem/router in the same config and it all worked fine.
The problem is that when going through the Synology setup, it fails to see the tp-link. So therefore I cannot run its port forwarding program to setup all my ports. Which in turn the NAS can't access the internet. I have started going through the port-forward setting on the router interface, and manually entered the ports - i realized that I'm limited to the number of ports i'm allowed to open! I have also run a port testing program, some are successfully opened the others are not.
Is there some button i need to check or switch on the modem?

I've just replaced my aging ZyXel Wireless Router with a TD-W8970 which connects to the internet with no problems whatsoever. However, I have an ethernet connected Western Digital MyBookLive NAS which is happily allocated an IP addess but does not show up on my network on my PC (Windows Vista - fully patched). A usb connected pen drive and exactly the same. Am I missing something blindingly obvious? On the ZyXel the NAS worked with no problems whatsoever.
The problem with the NAS was my internet security Bitdefender. For some reason, on installing the TP-W8970, it switched my firewall status to public from home/office. Corrected that and the NAS can now be seen over the network. This does not fix the USB attached pen drive not being seen problem though.
