Cisco Wireless :: 5508 Setting Up Guest WLAN With Landing Page
Aug 1, 2012I've been asked to create 2 wireless networks for guest access. They are to be used by clients of 2 different companies and they have asked for the website of each company to automatically open as a landing page. e.g.
-WLAN1 - password is companyname1 - landing page = www.companyname1.com
-WLAN2 - password is companyname2 - landing page = www.companyname2.com
Is this possible with our 5508 WLC? I have googled it and can see that you can set a web auth page but I need different landing pages depending on which WLAN is connected to.

Feb 19, 2012I have a 5508 WLC running 6.0.202.0. It functions as the Anchor Controller for the guest network. It sits in our Internet DMZ and is isolated from the rest of the network. It does not connect to AD, ACS, etc. The guest wireless WLAN is configured for Web Policy - Authentication. I have a customized login page. Credential management is done by WCS.
Users are connecting to the guest wireless network and entering their creds with no issues using mobile devices (iPad, etc). Then the mobile device goes to sleep / turns off and when they go to use it again, they have to type their creds in again. They dont like retyping their creds throughout the day.
good way mitigate the multiple logins? Something like a 'save password' option on the customized page?

When the client connects to the open guest network and upon opening a browser they would be directed to a survey that I would like them to take, if they don't want to take it they can begin browsing to other sites without issue. How do I do this on a my 5508 WLC?

The WLC forces an internal redirect to https://1.1.1.1 causing the certificate page to appear. Can this be bypassed? I am runiing 5508 with 7.0.220.0.

Mar 7, 2013I have a wireless network infrastructure that is controlled by two WLC 5508s, Prime NCS and ISE. I have two networks for my users, an employee network and a student network. I started publishing the information for these networks via a group policy and the settings are identical, with the exception to the SSID.
My employees can logon to the employee network with no problems. I can walk up to any laptop, regardless if I have logged on to it before or not, and logon with no issues. ISE correctly profiles my account and authorizes me for the right profile. My students however are another story. Laptops that are designated for student use have the wireless network in their network list, and at the logon it shows that it will attempt to connect to the STUDENTS network. When I enter in a student username and password, it begins to login but then gives an error that says:
'There are currently no logon servers available to process the logon request'
The students cannot login at all. I can use my domain admin or my account and login to one of the units with no problem, even if I haven't logged onto the unit before with that account.
I don't know if this is an ISE issue or some other type of issue. I'm leaning towards ISE being the issue, since its what is passing authentication through to the domain. I have my students all in groups and I have those groups added to ISE, just like I have my employees added.
Wireless :: No Wifi Log In Guest Access Page?
Apr 7, 2012I been using my mechanics Wifi connection with my internal wireless adapter for at least 6 months. Living next door he has a guest Wifi connection for his customers that requires a password. I only had to use the password once and since then it has automatically connected. I recently purchased a usb wirless adapter with an antenna to get a better signal and it connects to the server but the login access page will not display nor will it connect to the internet. With this I get error 102.

3 -- 5 port gigabit switches
1 -- 8 port gigabit switch
No more than two switches between any two wired devices Both Linksys access points have the same SSID and WPA2 security phrase -- total of 4 radios Nonoverlapping channels are selected on both the 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz radio to minimize interference All computers are running Windows 7 Professional 64bit with all the latest updates Two iPhones and one iPad also access the network All LAN and WAN connectivity is working as designed?
Problem:
guest SSID is turned on
password is established
All devices will connect to the guest SSID and the E4200 is assigning an ip address to the device in the 192.168.33.xxx range which is what it's supposed to do.When I open a web browser, I am not automatically redirected to the Cisco Login Page. If I enter 192.168.33.1 as the URL, the login screen is presented. I enter the password I have created in the guest admin page on the wireless guest tab. I then see a blank page and a URL of 192.168.33.1/guestnetwork.asp. THIS IS WHERE I GET STUCK. THE ONLY WAY TO EVER SEE THE LOGIN PAGE AGAIN IS TO REBOOT THE E4200, otherwise you just get unable to connect messages when opening web browsers and the wireless status icon in the system tray shows a yellow exclamation mark.
I successfully connect to the guest SSID but I do not get access to the internet. When I type ipconfig, I see that the DNS is set to 192.168.33.1 which does not exist on my network. I assume there's some internal NAT magic that is supposed to happen in the E4200 to bridge me over to my 192.168.15.xxx network but it doesn't seem to be happening.At the beginning of the call I specifically asked them if the E4200 must be the DHCP server in order for the guest SSID feature to work and they said no. 1.5 hours later they had no answers so they told me that it wasn't working because the E4200 was not the DHCP server. The documentation says nothing about a DHCP requirement for guest AP service. Linksys support further could not answer what you would do if you needed more than one AP with guest service enabled.It seems like this is a firmware issue but it may be the guest SSID service requires the E4200 to also act as the DHCP server. Whether this is a bug or if the router/AP is working as designed?

Some times shomething don’t work and the browser don’t show the page, so the people can’t use the connection because they get a timeout error.The only solution I have in this case is to resart the router, but sometimes is not enough and I have to fisically shotdown and restart it.The login.asp page starts with: This is UNPUBLISHED PROPRIETARY SOURCE CODE of CyberTAN Inc. the contents of this file may not be disclosed to third parties, copied or duplicated in any form without the prior written permission of CyberTAN Inc. This software should be used as a reference only, and it not intended for production use! What about a firmware update to fix it and give the control from the web administration over the guest network?

I always get the internal default logout.html of the WLC and I cannot customize that.Every customization which I have done to the logout.html (then uploaded it on the WLC) will not be recognized.Is there a way to customize that logout.html?

Currently, we are proposing a Cisco Wireless Controller 5508 together with APs and the setup would be a dedicated VLAN for guest. I am wondering if Cisco ISE together with Cisco MSE would be sufficient?
Stuff to monitor and log are:
1. Guest username (I guess this would be self sponsored)
2. Company name
3. Websites accessed
4. Time, date and duration.
5. Logs are to be kept for 3 months at least.

Feb 3, 2013I'm looking to implement guest WiFi access with web authentication on one of our 5508 WLC (currently deployed within a sandbox environment), but looking for some assistance. The WLC currently has a single connection from port 1 to the 'Test Site 2' switch. This is a dot1q trunk. On the WLC, the interface (for port 1) is configured as follows: [code] Currently, I have one WLAN configured with the profile name 'Guest Test 1', it's enabled and broadcasting the SSID. Security is L3 only with web authentication configured. The WLAN is configured to use the interface names "guest_wifi".
The issue is that when a client connects to the WLAN, it receives an IP address okay (10.99.254.x address), but doesn't seem to be able to contact the WLC to get the web authentication page. Eventually, the WLC terminates the connection due to an authentication failure.does it sound like I'm taking the correct approach here? The idea is that clients connect to the guest WLAN, which puts them on VLAN 99 and routes traffic through to the ASA and then onto the internet.

Apr 11, 2012I just got a new requirement for our wireless roll out and I need some help. Plan the best way to provide employee and guests wireless access w/ the guests separate from the production environment.
We have a 5508 controller w/ 1142 APs. I have two GBICs in the interfaces (only one is being used). I want to use a back haul connection for the guest access. I am having a hard time in visioning how to physically set up the cabling from the patch panel. Again, the requirement is to not allow guest users to connect to our production network but I still want/need to manage the AP. This will eventually need to be supported for remote sites tunneling back to the primary location.

Jul 1, 2012At present I have a WLC5508 as a guest anchor in a DMZ and a web-auth passthrough WLAN configured. There is a custom web bundle providing a terms and conditions page.
We want to start to capture the minimum data from a user that logs onto the guest wireless ( email address ) and would like to use the check email function on the controller - BUT - at the same time move from using the web bundle locally hosted splashpage on the controller to an external web server provided splashpage / walled garden.
From my understanding not sure that this is possible as the email check function is only valid in passthrough I think.

Mar 5, 2013We have a centralized WLC with some branch office with AP's in Flexconnect Mode. The Wlans are configured to use Web Authentication (Landing Page). The Landing Page is Cisco Default.
We're experiencing some problem with Apple Devices, on some the Landing Page apperars on some not. The WLC Software is about 1 year old. On a XP machine the landing page doesn't appear too, but you can type in the address manually and it works.
Whats the best solution to include the Apple Devices successfully in the WLC Wireless World.

Jul 22, 2012I have implemented a Guest WLAN solution as per the recommended design from Cisco. We have two internal WiSM2 controllers providing services for Internal secure SSIDs. Both these controllers are members of a Mobility and RF management group.
Two 5508 controllers have been installed in our DMZ for resilience and have been placed into a separate Mobility group. All controllers (internal and external) have been linked together as mobility neighbours in a full mesh and a new SSID for Web Guest traffic has been anchored to the controllers in the DMZ.
Web page authentication works perfectly fine, but I cannot for the life of me get the MAC filtering override to work, i.e. if a MAC address is present, do not redirect to the splash page for web auth. I know I can get around this by just creating two separate SSIDs. But the business is used to just having the one SSID for all guest traffic. Is this a known limitation when anchoring SSIDs to controllers in the DMZ ?

Dec 25, 2011i see there is an option to "allow password change" or "force password change" for guest roles in the NGS. But when i created a guest account using this guest role, after webauthentication , there is no prompt to change password. Is this the intended behaviour or is there anything else that i need to configure. Looking at it, i am not sure how the NGS would allow a "guest user" to really overwrite the password by allowing password change. ? is that not a security risk as well for the NGS ? my setup has 5508 anchor controller and NGS communicating via RADIUS.

What we are trying to do, however, is give the lobby admins the ability to create wireless accounts with lifetimes longer than 30 days. Currently our setup will only allow the creation of permanent accounts (by entering all 0's in the lifetime fields) or accounts that last up to thirty days.
