Mar 28, 2013Having a bit of a quandry. I have one laptop, a Toshiba Satellite L500-2H, that seems to get ridiculously slow wireless speeds sometimes. Like, slow to the point of not even being able to load webpages. Or taking way too long to do so. I have a macbook pro that I've had for two years connected to my wireless internet, and it has never had a problem. Even now it runs as usual on the wireless internet. Dec 19, 2011I have 3 laptops, an ipod and an Xbox connected wirelessly to my router. I have no troubles with either of them but one laptop which runs really slow through wi-fi. I have been reading on people with similar examples and here are some stuff I noticed.
1. The laptop is new and I ran it as a virus check with no viruses
2. I did notice two wifi adapters as follows. Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter and Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter #2. They both show that they are working properly and I have checked for updates.
3. My router is a Netgear DGN1000 modem/router. It is also updated on firmware.
4. I have the right password etc.I do however have my xbox set up as DMZ and ports forwarded on the static IP for my xbox

I eventually managed to transfer over some antivirus/spyware/malware software, and found that I had the msiexec.exe trojan, among other trojans (or installers?) on the system. I've deleted what I could find. But, with such slow internet, I couldn't update any of the antivirus software, and eventually did a system restore to out-of-the-box conditions. Using a new internet connection (free wifi at a store), I easily downloaded AVG, Malwarebytes, and Spybot, all of which declared my computer clean. However, upon connecting again to my home internet connection, things ran really slow again.

When I run the built-in router speed check, it shows that I am getting 20 Mbps for downloads which is what I expected to see and then as time goes on, the speed goes as slow as 1 Mbps for downloads. I finally had to go back to my very old Linksys WRT54GS router to have a stable network again. I called Linksys customer support and they want to charge me a fee to diagnose the router that will only be refundable if they find any issues. I find it completely unacceptable to have to spend more money for an item that is only a month old that will probably show no issues when they run their diagnoses since they had me reboot the router while I was on the phone with them. I want to warn others not buy this router especially when the company cannot stand behind their product that is only 34 days old!

May 22, 2013I have 16 1552's, and one of them is running very slow when my deputies are trying to upload their shift videos.I am usign acentral Vlan in the controller with all configuration settings.I also using the same configuration in all APs.
In this particular AP I am noticed that the upload traffic is about 100 mgs per minutes, YES per minute. While I should be getting somewhere in the range of 300 mbps, I am only getting about 7 or 8 mbps.I have checked all settings that I can think off but can't find the issue.
Dell Studio 1557 Running Windows 7 - Slow / Down Internet Connection?
Nov 3, 2011I have a dell studio 1557 running windows 7. I live in my own apartment with roommates in college, and i've been having some very bad issues with slow internet or constant down time. Here are some key points:
- I have Charter internet.
- My 2 other roommates have NO ISSUES.
- My laptop works in my family's house. They have Comcast. I went on vacation a week ago and there were no issues on the hotel internet. No issues from the school's internet.
- I have been using my android phone as a tether because the internet is more stable. It's slow, but consistent for the most part. This is extra frustrating because I shouldnt have slow internet. And I sure as hell shouldnt be paying for internet I can't even enjoy.
- Charter has replaced 2 routers. Both are brand new. They are net gear. Charter is clueless to my problem.
- I have reinstalled windows. Dell told me to try safe mode. I noticed NO ISSUES WITH STANDARD BROWSING IN SAFE MODE. This leads me to believe it is a software issue.
- The connection is non-existent when coming out of hibernation or rebooting. In the morning, i have to boot up, make my coffee, and only then will it give me access to the internet. Otherwise, page timeouts. It can take up to 10 minutes for the internet to work.
- Youtube and general multitasking is very bad. Slower connection than ever, page timeouts, and I often need to wait for a video/music to buffer before I begin enjoying it.
My laptop has been this way for upwards of 6 months.

I have tried bypassing the router and going straight from the modem (ADSL) with the same result. I have disabled all network connections and started a new one and I managed to get a days work out of it before the problem came back. The connection seems to be ok some times as long as there are no major demands put on it (but freezes as soon as you step it up a bit) and other times it freezes before windows even loads.

Jun 11, 2012We have LMS 4.1 installed. After about 10 min of being idle, the browser becomes frozen, eventually crashing it. We applied this fix for lagging hoping it would fix the issue, however it has not. We have been tracking a problem internally where the Getting Started page hangs on login. The problem is with changes to Cisco.com access. We are actively working to get those fixed, but if this is what you're seeing the workaround is as follows:
a. Open the properties file name “gs.properties” under the path NMSROOT/MDC/tomcat/webapps/cwlms/WEB-INF/classes/com/cisco/nm/gs/ui
b. Update the field IS_DEFAULT_PAGE as “false”
c. Clear the browser cache and login-in(Daemon restart not required)

Sep 24, 2012I am on a home LAN with a high speed broadband connection, Apple TimeCapsule router, and Windows 7 laptop. Starting this morning every 1-2 minutes my Internet connection stops working. I can not load webpages, send email, etc. A yellow triangle with an exclamation point appears over the WiFi icon on the taskbar. When my Internet connection stops I can disconnect from the wireless then reconnect. That will work for another 1-2 minutes only.
I do not recall doing anything that could have caused this (obviously something caused it, but I have not been screwing with drivers or anything and it has worked fine since I bought this computer 2 months ago from Dell). I have read several threads from where people had this problem in the past, but to no avail. For instance some people had multiple firewalls in conflict with one another or needed to renew their DHCP lease, but that is not true in my case.
Here are steps that I have taken to repair the problem, but with no luck:
- Restart the computer fully, many times
- Renew the DHCP lease
- Run the troubleshooter
- Changed my DNS servers from the ISP's to Google's
- Uninstalled all OpenVPN software
- Removed the stored WiFi network data from Windows then reconnect
- Verified that only 1 firewall is installed
- Tried it with the ethernet, which works
- Tried other computers on the WLAN, which works
- Ran anti-virus and anti-malware scans (no infection)
I do have a VirtualBox installation, but I have not run it in weeks. Even when I was connected for that 1-2 minute period I was unable to connect to my work OpenVPN, which is what led me to try uninstalling the VPN software, but that doesn't seem to be related.
