Nov 29, 2012I am having trouble opening firefox as well as itunes. I get a message stating that i am not commected to the internet. I am able to connect to the internet using internet explorer and have no trouble logging on to websites from there.

It Gave me an error message ""No Logon Servers are currently available"" . But when i put my server Name that is ""\servernameshare "" i am able to map the folders. Why am i unable to access my shared folders on the NAS server by IP address . I have checked the IP adress connectivity and everything but it is all fine .I can even ping by ip address of the NAS serve

This summer the computer was switched with another XP networked computer.I installed the printer using the disk to the new computer, but I am unable to get the computer shared. Feb 18, 2013Two physical drives. Drive 0 has two partitions C and D. C is operating system (XP Pro) and D is data only. Drive 1 has one partition F and is used for internal backup. Drive F can be set to be shared. Partition D on Drive 0 will not accept sharing. It reverts back to the $D admin share after setting up a new share. The icon (hand) that indicates shared drive does not appear either. I assume there is a registry setting that has drive 1 blocked, but am unable to find it.

Mar 30, 2011I have shared a folder on my server with sharing & NTFS permissions. I am the administrator and have more than the required permissions.
Yet when i try and access the folder from My Computer, it tells me that it is not accessible and that access is denied.Ive done the same for every other user who should have access, with no problems.
Ive also looked at parent permissions and inheriting and have found no reason for this.

Dec 13, 2011Have just had a stab at using my Netgear DGND3700's USB drive sharing - I had a spare external HDD + I want to be able to access files on it both over the 'net and from local network. Both work fine, very easy to set up, however I am unable to edit settings for the shared folder, which means I am unable to password protect it.
I don't need a password for local sharing but obviously it isn't ideal to have files freely available on the Internet, have looked into troubleshooting but can't find any similar stories with Netgears.I click "edit" or "create network folder" and it loads for a second or two but just stays on the same page. There is only one option to select but I have tried clicking the radio button first anyway, then clicking edit, same result.

Mar 11, 2013I have a user that is trying to save an excel speadsheet that is located in a shared folder on a server, the user can open the file and edit ok but when they try to save the file the progress bar pops up but just hangs then a message pops up to saying "file not saved". They are using Windows 7.The user is new and I have just set up their account so thought it might be permission issues but I have logged the user in on two other different machines (1 win7 and 1 WinXP) and they have no problem at all.

Mar 2, 2011If you can't home share on iTunes between Computers or AppleTV, try turning multicast on
1) login to router
2) Go to Advanced tab
3) Select Advanced Networking on Left hand column
4) Select checkbox to enable multicast streams
5) Save the changes
In order to get all my machines working, I also had to enable multicast streams on my network extender as well. The IP address for the network extender is 192.168.0.50 or type in DLINKAP in the URL bar and follow the relevant instructions for your model number.
Please note if you use a software firewall on your PC or Mac, you may need to also free up TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353. However there are plenty of support articles at Apple / Norton / Microsoft / etc... on how to do this for your relevant firewall..
Asus N66U Router ITunes Server Not Working?
Nov 28, 2012Just purchased an N66U router and loving it so far. The only problem I'm having is that iTunes is not seeing the shared library I setup on the router. I have a usb drive plugged into it and have set the options to use that drive and the itunes server is turned on. I've rebooted the router many times, removed the drive and put it back in. Turned of settings and turned back on. Nothing works. iTunes does see my PC's shared library just fine.

Mar 31, 2013I just purchased a Linksys EA4500 (firmware is up to date). However while it set itself up wonderfully. I cannot get my wireless devices (specifically my apple tv) to see my NAS or my itunes PC, My ipads can access the NAS if i put in the correct address but not automatically.
Everything is connected to my cisco switch that is hardwired (2 xboxes, 2 ps3, 3 tv's, Wii, network audio receiver, 2 NAS, printer, 2 computers, etc). I disabled the Wi-Fi on the bell router. On the wifi are a few ipads, 3 blackberries, 1 iphone, 2 laptops).I am fully aware that the reason the wireless devices cannot see the hardwired equipment is because it is on a different subnet.
However when i try and change the IP address of the router to 192.168.2.2 (putting it on the same subnet) the router must detect a conflict then changes itself to a class A address (10.x.x.x) OR i get an INVALID IP address. As well i have noticed an overall degradation in the speed of my network (all gigabit hardware with cat 6 cabling)

Mar 12, 2011I am using an e4200 router, Windows 7 64-bit, ipad and iphone. The issue that I am having is that the iPad and iPhone cannot maintain a connection iTunes via Home Sharing. When I start iTunes I am able to access Home Sharing on the iPhone and iPad. If I don't connect right away I will lose this capability. Also, the connection is lost after a seeminingly random amount of time. Also, when if I using the iPhone to listen to music and I pick up my iPad and access the wireless network, the phone gets kicked off Home Sharing. The only way to remedy the situation is to re-start iTunes on my computer. I've been messing around with every setting.
