Why should I need a router with a touch screen? Just because, its fancy or just because its bringing a new trend to wireless networking? I wanted to buy the D-link DIR 865 but it became vaporware. Now this came up Almond of Securifi. Dong Ngo of CNet has reviewed it. Does it really make sense to buy a wireless touch screen router, leaving the old trend of traditional routers with web interface?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAOL are a complete waste of time and space in my opinion as for one you cannot understand what there tech support is saying and even when you email there tech support they seem to answer with a totally different answer to my questions.I have just installed a pci card ethernet connection on my pc windows xp now all I want to now do is connect and configure my router on the internet, I currently use aol dial.bb broadband adsl connection so far there are no connections from the router connected to my pc as i am still using a bt voyager 105 modem.When i did connect the ethernet cable to my pc and into the router also i connected the adsl cable into the back of the router but aol have not explained how to connect to the internet to configure this router and get it to work.

In trying to set up the propoer security, the set up screen appears as incomplete (after entering 192.168.1.1). It only shows 3 tabs at the top - Basic Setup, MAC Address Clone, and Advanced Routing. No tab to deal with the settings. I have tried resetting the router and plug/unplug several times. Triued entering thru IE and Firefox.Is there another way to set up the security on my router or at least get the proper screen?

I have never set up a lock or anything on my wireless connection and I think other people are using it. When I type the IP address 192.168.1.1 on my laptop, I do not get the screen to pop up to change my settings. Do I need to do this from the computer?

Is there anyway I can disable this becuase the kids stay up all night trying to figure out the password to log in, I just want it to say internet access blocked with no option for logging in for the blocked user.

Text does not load.The graphics load okay, and the dropdown boxes, checkboxes, etc. Since many of the links are from text, and all of the descriptions, it is impossible to navigate properly. I managed only by using Firefox's Page Info, Links tab and cutting & pasting. A couple of screen captures are available [URL] have downloaded the latest firmware, but while I can get to the Administration page, much less click on, the Upgrade Firmware sub-tab.

Then click next, where it says "Searching Networks", then quickly changes to "Connecting to Network", and then it says it "Cannot Find Router.". Err. Check setup, etc.If I hook up directly to new router VIA internet cable. Also, this is strange: When I just open up a web browser and try to log into the router 192.168.1.1, using no user name, administration as the password, it won't let me in to the router. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt54G v8 wireless router and I was trying to install a firmware update a while ago and got impatient, stopped the upgrade in the middle of it and I think I may have bricked my router. I've since tried the 30/30/30 reset a number of times and have noticed that I don't get a blinking power light which I guess means it's ok.
Now when I go to 192.168.1.1 and log in, I can see most menus but when I click the firmware update menu (there's another screen that's also all white, I forget which one), it's all white (or blank). I've searched for a solution on the web and no luck so far.
I've been trying to do this on a mac and no luck. I then booted into windows 7 and used IE 9 to log into 192.168.1.1 and still the same thing, the firmware update screen is blank.
I have a WRT120N with Firmware 1.0.06..First peculiarity is that I can't access the web based admin screen from Firefox 7.0.1. The password prompt appears but won't proceed from there.Second, and main issue is that frequently (several times a day) I get a 'Limited Access' error on my wireless connection. On mouse roll over Windows 7 Pro gives the error message 'no internet access'. This problem appears to resolve itself after several minutes or straight away if the router is powercycled. During these 'Limited Access' moments I am unable to connect to the route web based admin page nor ping or tracert. [code]
View 8 Replies View RelatedI installed this Linksys E1500 yesterday and have had a problem keeping my iPhone 4 and an iPod Touch connected to WiFi.The devices go to sleep. When I swipe the screen and "bring them back" the WiFi is Not Connected. I have to go in and re-enter my network password again. As long as the devices don't go to sleep, they maintain connectivity. Once connected they function properly.
The iPad 2 & Samsung Galaxy S phone we have seem to be keeping their WiFi connectivity, as well as a G62 HP laptop running Windows 7, an older XP machine using a Cisco AE1000 wireless network adaptor and the Xbox 360. The issue is just with the iPhone 4(ios 5) and the iPod Touch(ios 4).
I had issues with the iPad and the Galaxy phone until i disabled WMM Support in App & Gaming.I would bring this back to the retailer but I had it sitting on my desk for about 30 days and it's past their return policy.The firmware is up to date on the Router. I've tried power cycling all the devices including the cable modem & the new router.
I tried to log in into my EA4500 today, and instead of the simple window that asks for the user name and password, I am getting a Cisco Connect Cloud log in screen. It is very strange.
At the top it says: Cisco Connect Cloud/Powering Linksys Products
and below that:
Sign In If you have not yet created an account, click the 'Create Account' button in the upper right corner of the page
There is a help button, a button to create an account. There is a place where I can enter an email address and a password.
Pressing the Help button I learned that I can probably bypass this silly screen by disconnecting the internet. Is there a better way to bypass this screen and turn off Cisco Connect Cloud?

I have created an Ad-Hoc network, but still can't get my ipod to connect to it. and i can't bridge my USB Internet connection (shows up under dialup) with my ad-hoc network (shows up under LAN/High Speed Internet). I have also changed the settings for ICS.
We are a public library and offer an open wireless cloud to our patrons. We are currently having trouble with people connecting to our wireless with the Kindle Touch version 4. Users of the Kindle Fire and older models have no problems with connecting, just this one specific model. We are using Cisco Aironet 1230 Access Points connecting back via LWAPP to a WLC 4402 running code version 7.0.220.0. The clients are receiving their DHCP options from a Windows 2003 server. Besides the standard options we are also pushing the WPAD 252 option.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have several WAP2000 (Firmware 2.0.0.5), and while they work fine for PC's, iPhones, iPod touches cannot connect to them.Well, they connect briefly, get an IP address from the router, and immediately drop the connection to re-connect again.I have tried changing channels, eliminating all but one of the AP's, and so forth. Any issues with this firmware? I see posts where people are saying their iPhones connect up fine. This happens on versions 3.x and 4.x of the iphone O.S. It's not limited to one iphone or ipod touch; we've tried several.

Static IP - 192.168.1.100, 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.1.1
Problem: I purchased a new GB router, Dlink DIR825, wireless and 4 ports, and cannot connect to it to set it up. I need to get into it to change its IP address from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 and to make a few other changes. I have 6 different ethernet cables, all of which work with my desktop as well as my laptop. I can get into the new Dlink router just fine with my laptop so it is not a bad port on the new Dlink. The cables work with my existing router and my new router using my laptop so it isn't a cable problem.My internet connection is Hughesnet (DISH) which uses the 192.168.0.1 address, the same as the new router. So here is what I have tried:
1. Powered down Hughes router, new router, and old router.
2. Removed cable from Hughes router to old Linksys.
3. Changed static IP on desktop from 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.0.50 and Gateway to 192.168.0.1.
4. Rebooted
5. Connected ethernet cable from desktop to Port 1 on new router.
6. Powered up new router.
7. Brought up Browser and entered the 192.168.0.1. Nothing happens. The Port light on the new switch shows the connection properly and the other lights are on properly, except for the Internet light which I haven't hooked up yet.
The above does not work so I powered down everything and then:
1. Connected the cable from the Hughes internet modem to the Internet port on the new modem.
2. Powered up Hughes modem and waited for all lights to come on.
3. Then powered up new router and waited for all lights to come on. This time the Internet light came on like it should.
4. Powered up my desktop.
5. Brought up Browser and entered the 192.168.0.1. Nothing happens. I expected this since there would be a conflict with the 2 modems having same IP.
Next I tried to basically set my desktop to use DHCP and removed the cable from the Hughes modem to the new router. Powered down everything then brought them up one at a time, Hughes modem, router, and PC. Still not able to connect to the new router.I also used my laptop to set the new router to 192.168.1.1 and reset my static IP to the original 192.168.1.100, 255.255.255.0, Gateway 192.168.1.1. Still nothing and I couldn't even ping the router.
I am trying to change the name of my wireless network but when I go to the 192.168.1.1 and type in my password, it just goes to a blank screen. I've accessed my router a lot of times before this way. It is a lisksys router.
