i need to build a server with win7 but I have no space to for the monitor and keyboard. I would like to control the win7 remotely like NAS. If yes, what hardware and software do I need? I know the computer do not boot as keyboard is not connected.
I recently acquired a Latitude E6510 with Windows 7 Pro 64bit. My Dell DR984 Bluetooth KB/MS receiver works on my Latitude E6400 with win 7 32bit works but fails on the new notebook.
I have tried the Broad-com updater, but it fails with a message that Dell must be contacted. Where can I find drivers so that I can use the DR984 with my new notebook?
I'm currently looking for a way to monitor a server's heartbeat, but to be able to inject that information into a router's routing table. I've googled this for a while, and come up with software called 'Quagga' or 'Xorp' which I understand is host-based routing software, but I don't quite understand if these satisfy what I need. Am I barking up the wrong tree or can I do this already with Cisco routers?
I am supporting a small call center of all Win7 machines. There is no server in house as everything is web based. Anyway, we want to find the bandwidth hogs and programs that I am used to using require servers for monitoring web traffic.
Are there any devices or software that is not a fortune that can give details on bandwidth usage?
I would like to monitor access ports to servers in cases:
- When port to server down, alert appears in Fault Monitor panel
- Monitor when bandwidth utilization of access ports exceeds 60%.
I configured Fault Threshold on DFM>System Defined Groups>Access port Settings and Poller settings on the same group but it did not work when I shut a port to server.
My office uses a Windows domain network. Is it possible for them to track which IP/Port I'm using through some network software. Sometimes I do SSH access to my server. Can they get notified any how about this ? We use Windows XP SP2.
I planned for my customer to replace his old LMS 4.0.1 server under Windows 2003 by a new server under Windows 2008 R2.Customer wants also to set a new LMS name and IP address for the new server under Windows 2008 R2 and keep both servers on the network.I'm wondering what could be the best procedure to do that migration. Can I used backup / restore procedure in that case ?If yes, what file must I modify to adapt the new LMS configuration to new hostname and IP Address ?
I went to Furrynutz link where I never found the direct download lilnk to the widget. I then chatted with a Microsoft representative at the widget page and he linked me to the same Furrynutz's link.
My DIR-825 has the latest firmware, 2.06xx and works flawlessly, even the shareport usb port works without a hitch with a Seagate Expansion 3TB drive connected into it. What I simply would like is the D-Link gadget.
i want to use a wireless router to hook-up my HD-TV to use it as a monitor. at the same time that my son can play his PS3.Do i need an extra keyboard to use on my HD-TV?

Old Compaq Presario 3000+ getting sluggish, freezing has Compac mouse and keyboard. So brother gave me not as old eMachine. Thought I'd use KVM and play music, etc from old Compaq. KVM hooked up. Compaq keyboard works very poorly with eMachine. Compaq mouse doesn't work at all with eMachine -freezes center of screen. Switch to wireless mouse, works fine with eMachine, but then have ot use Compaq mouse if I switch to Compaq PCU. Is there a universal keyboard and mouse that would fix this?
I recently performed a system restore back to factory settings and downloaded updates to drivers for my service tag. I have a laptop - Inspiron 14R - and I'm having trouble getting my wireless key on the keyboard to work. How can I get it to toggle again. It seems now with the updated driver I have to manually connect and disconnect from wireless internet access.
i've been using a VPN to connect to my home network from elsewhere for a few months. It's set up as follows:
PPTP Maximum Strength Encryption EAP-MSCHAP-v2 Authentication
Now I find out that MSCHAPv2 authentication has been broken and is no longer considered secure (even by Microsoft), so I want to change the protocol I'm using to make it secure.
However, I've spent 3 hours now researching this and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to use a better protocol on my Windows Server 2012 home server. I've tried setting up PEAP authentication (still PPTP) a la Microsoft's recommendation document, but it requires a certificate. I've created a self-signed certificate but it seems I can't issue certificates (via this method) without being a member of a domain, so I'm stuck. I can't even get started with L2TP since I can't find the option for it.
My question is this: Is there a way to setup a secure VPN server using Windows Server 2012 without a domain? If so, how do I do this?
I am trying to connect to a PIX 501 firewall via serial connection. My problem is that I cannot issue commands to the firewall. Whenever I try to type something into the terminal, nothing happens. I have the connection settings configured properly (9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, no flow control) and have tried PuTTY and HyperTerminal and have the same results. I get output from the firewall, but my keystrokes do not seem to be going to it.
I have install the administration toolpack on Windows 7 and enabled remote connections on my server 2008 box, When i try and connect with my Windows 7 server manager it does not work.I see stuff on google about enabling a trustedhost with winrm but can't find a way to do this.
I have lost my receiver to a wireless mouse and key board of LOGITECH K260. kindly tell me what should i do to resolve this problem. can i get its replacement from market?
I've hot connection issues with my wireless Mac keyboard for a while. I've brought the computer in to Apple to see if the problem lied there. They replaced the Bluetooth adapter, and I got a new keyboard, but I still have the same problem. I've moved the router as far from the computer as possible (but it's not that far). Since the E3000 is dual band, I'm wondering if the 2.4 GHz channel is interfering? My friend has a Bluetooth keyboard and a wireless router on his system, and he never has connection issues.
How I enabled the Virtual Keyboard on the main portal page on our ASDM v6.0(2) ASA v8.0(2). I remember seeing the option once upon a time and now i can't seem to find it.
After getting New Workstations, I wanted to connect that to the SERVER but Windows 7 could not log into domain of our server with Windows Server 2003. Besides following the proper process/steps. I am able to use the printer and internet shared through SERVER though.
I've been reading that the Windows Server Backup that is included with Server 08 R2 is pretty good. Is spending $400 on a third party utility worth it?
I'm asking because we're purchasing a new server soon and I want to know if the included backup is going to be good enough. Will be backing up server state as well as data to tape and possibly an off site server (server 2003) if I get my way.
I know the best thing one should do is install an ISA server and an Active Directory Domain Controller on separate servers. But for some reason, I want to configure my Windows Server 2003 as an ISA server as well as an Active Directory Domain Controller. What can happen to my server making it run improperly. For example, my ISA server will function mainly as a Firewall, I wonder if all the rules I create in ISA server determine what I mean it should work or I have to consider any affection from Active Directory DC to those rules?I have to ask this question because I've already installed both ISA and AD DC on my Windows Server 2003, already created an Allow. All rule (just for testing connection) in ISA server but I can't ping from all the clients to my server, all the clients can ping each other and the server itself can ping to all clients. I just think that may be the affection from AD DC to my AllowAll rule in ISA server.
I successfully created some rules that worked greatly as they should work but when I hadn't installed AD DC yet (just installed ISA), however right after installing AD DC, it still worked well (this made me think that AD DC didn't affect to how ISA works). Then I configured a little related to DNS server, and maybe something I don't remember exactly and now I can't ping from my client PC to my server. My network is virtualized using VMware 8 workstation and GNS3, at first there is no need of GNS3 because I just want to test my internal network (some clients connected to the internal interface of ISA server). Depending on VMware that I can't be sure if it is some fault of VMware or any other thing but my configuration on the servers.
My friend and I bought Acer Aspire 5741's about 9 months ago and neither of us has had any problems until now. My friend went to connect to the internet via wireless router yesterday to find that there was limited connectivity (no internet access). We assumed it was a router issue and I gave her a number of things to check but all seemed ok with it. I went to her house to look at it today and when I ran the connection troubleshooter got "windows can't communicate with.......... (DNS server)". I connected my laptop via her router and everything was fine. I brought her laptop back to my house and tried to connect to the internet via my router and got exactly the same 'DNS' message - my laptop again connected without any problem.
I have re-booted the routers, laptops, network adapters etc and also checked the wireless adapter settings on both laptops, which appear to be the same. I have re-set the TCP/IP stack and have also tried ipconfig /release and /renew - none of which seems to have made any difference. The results of ipconfig/all are:-
I am running a small network of 30 pc. I have installed windows server 2003. Now i want to upgrade it to server 2008 but before that i want to test windows server 2008. That is why i,m looking online for a copy of windows server 2008 with reg key. Is there any good and trusted place to get windows server 2008.
I am working remotely & unable to access my company's 'ftp server'. The 'box' stated "NO SUCH INTERFACE SUPPORTED'. I have just bought a new Acer laptop & it'll be a complete waste if I can't use for work.
