View 17 Replies View RelatedI have E1200 wireless router and it was working nicely for the whole last year with 2 mac laptops hooked up on it. About 2 months ago there were 1 mac,1 win laptop and a network printer. And again, it was working just fine at the beginning. I'm not sure when exactly it happened first, but now after working couple of hours internet gets off and router stops responding. If I try to reconnect to it from my laptop I just see an error message saying something about "Connection timeout". Also I don't know does it have something to do with the network printer, btw it's connected to the router via ethernet cable not wireless. Anyway, the only solution I've found so far is power off the router for a couple of secs and power it on again, which is obviously not a solution at all, it's annoying and not practical. The time it works fine before it dies is also not fixed, it might be even 10 hrs of working and sometimes only 1-2 hrs. My other suspicion is firmware. I upgraded it almost at the same time when new laptop and printer showed up. Maybe I have to downgrade it, but I couldn't find older version of it. It was HW v. 1, SW v.1.0.00, and now it's HW v.1, SW v.1.0.03.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs of two days ago my DIR-655 seems to have stopped loading webpages every 10-30minutes for periods of up to 5-15 minutes, as in they the reloading icon will constantly be circling and the webpage remains blank, no error or anything until it says failed to load on my web browser (tried multiple browsers such as Safari, Chrome, IE and Firefox). This problem occurs on every computer on my network, laptops (both Mac and PC) and desktops. When this problem occurs all lights on modem and router seem to be normal no signs of anything going down but I originally thought that this affected wired and wireless but I seem to have narrowed it to culprit being the wireless. When connected to the PC I can browse for an indefinite amount of time without the webpages failing to respond, however when I connected to WiFi through Airport on a Macbook Air my webpages start to begin failing to load around 5-10 minutes of browsing which affects all computers connected to the network (essentially all computers failing to respond to the internet during this outage).
Interestingly when this problem occurs, if I am connected to Skype or Aim it will stay connected and I can still chat with people but I will not be able to sign onto AIM if the problem occurs before I sign on and I try to sign on during the outage. If I am streaming a video from justin.tv or ustream it still continues to stream during this "outage".I have the revB of the DIR-655 and have tried resetting the modem, turning off the firewall, upgrading firmware to 2.03NA from 2.01NA and setting the MTU to 1400 (default 1500) with nothing working. I am using Time Warner Wideband ISP and have connected the modem directly to my PC and for the 30minutes or so that I tested the web browsing it seemed fine and did not have any errors.
I would like to connect devices to my network so that their traffic passes through a proxy running on my computer. I figured the best way to do this is by setting the proxy on my router to the one I am running, but then I would need to have another connection to the computer running the proxy or else there would be an infinite loop ?? something like that. so:
Internet -> router (1) -> my proxy on comp A -> router (2) -> computer B
I access the internet from my company�s LAN, which has a restrictive firewall, so I cannot request the admin to open any ports manually for me. Hence I use a software called your-freedom. This proxy software supports both http as well as socks 4 and 5 proxy (by entering the proxy IP 127.0.0.1 (localhost) and Port 8080 for http proxy OR 1080 for Socks Proxy), and I have successfully been using web browsers and some other softwares that support proxy/ allow proxy info to be entered to login/ connect to the internet. Your-Freedom also supports port forwarding.However, the softwares I intend to use do not have any options to enter proxy methods or proxy ports (as far as I have noticed). I have tried to proxify these 2 softwares using softwares such as SocksCap and Free Cap, but either they don�t work, or my settings in proxifying are not correct. I believe I will have to do port forwarding or proxify the softwares, but have been unable to do so in the correct manner.
Following is the info on the 2 softwares:
1.NOW Trading terminal:[FONT=Times New Roman]Normally when I start the NOW or Zerodha software, the software starts and I get a login screen, but under firewall conditions, I get the initial Splash screen but then the software stops with the error: [b][u]NOW Initialisation failed for Interactive Engine << os error>>.
2.PowerIndia Bulls:The software is written in Java and starts with a batch file (PowerIndiabulls.bat) located in C:UsersDEFAULT_USERNAMEAppD..... I converted this batch file to .exe (with battoexe software) and then ran it through a proxifying software. The .exe start properly without proxifying software but not under proxifying environment. Basically the software needs to connect to the internet using Port 443. I am also expected to keep ports 443, 41599 and 59598 open. software's requirement is available at Indiabulls Securities: Indiabulls Securities is a leading capital market company offering securities broking and advisory services, depository services, equity research services to its clients in India. (item no. 5).To confirm, while the software is unable to connect through port 443, you will get an error message: "Connection to Login Server could not be established" when you try to login with any random Username and Password.To know that the software is able to connect properly, you will get an error: "This User ID is not enabled to be used with this product".
MY RE-1000 is up and working at 192.168.1.141. But I get nothing back when I put this address into IE.

It's working one and after it stop working, looks like the router is not responding anymore. If I got on the web interface of the router, I loging, on the first web page I press save changes, even if I didn't change anything, the UPnP feature work again.
Looks like a timeout occure or something like that. Is there a way to wake up the router without having to go on the web interface? Why it's stop working?

I'm trying to connect to a Medialink wifi router from this laptop but after finding and connecting to it, it shows as No Internet Access. When I try to access a web page, it says DNS Not Responding. I have been able to access it before from this laptop. I am currently able to access this particular wifi spot from other devices. I am unsure if this laptop is able to access other wifi spots besides my own.
Things began to act weird after I tried changing the network name from the Network and Sharing Center by clicking on the 'House' icon, changing the network name to something besides the given router name, and pressing ok.
Since then, I have reset the router. I have checked to make sure DNS is automatically retrieved. When that didn't work, I gave it a public DNS to pull from, but that didn't work so I reverted to Auto DNS. I have enabled netbios over TCP/IP. I have flushed all caches. Nothing.
I don't have McAfee installed, only MSE.

My router is running the stock 1.21 firmware and it has been fine for almost a year before the wireless suddenly stopped working. I reset the router and restored my previous configuration. After the reboot, the SSID is visible and I can connect to it but there is no internet connection. Also the router becomes unresponsive, i.e. timeout trying to access the router configuration page. After trying out different settings it seems that enabling WPA2+AES is the cause.In the mean time, I am running an open wireless network and everything seems fine. Is the hardware faulty? I am reluctant to update the firmware because of a negative experience with another router (same model).

All three VPN settings are enabled.PC is set to a static IP internally. 192.168.1.116 to be precise.PPTP port forwarding (1723) is set to the PC's static IP, though I have tried without port forwarding and it didn't work either.If I have my iPhone connected to the wireless network and point it to the internal IP address of the PC, I can connect to the VPN.If I bypass my router and hook my desktop directly to the modem (and point my iPhone to the IP that gets assigned to my desktop from my ISP) I can connect to the VPN.But if I have everything hooked up normally and try to connect to the VPN from my iPhone (using the IP address my ISP assigned to the router), I get a PPTP server not responding error.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo up till about a week ago my internet connection has been fine. Then all of the sudden it will "cut off" for about 5-10 mins and then be fine again. It happens randomly, sometimes it won't happen for a couple hours and then sometimes it happens 2-3 times in a hour. Funny thing is that it says I am still connected to the internet and infact if I am able to log into like MSN or skype or I am playing a online game, I can still play those games or chat. However, if I am not signed on to msn, skype, etc....during when I can't browse the internet, I can't log into those services. I thought maybe it was my pc, but my ipod touch and roommate's laptop experience the same exact issue as they are connected to my router. The error the pc is giving me is "DNS Server isn't responding.".

Problem is, since yesterday i discovered thta i cannot access the internet for any machine connected via the proxy (and any dhcp-assigned machines). As a result, even the webmail is not accessible from any machine.When i tried, i changed some computers so that they connect directly to the router -and they work fine for the internet. Problem is, I am still not able to access webmail.What could be the problem with the proxy.?(NB Postfix is running and http too is running).

I tried in safe mode and it worked. So obviously something stopped it from working though I'm not sure. Anyway when I logged back into my account my wireless connection said I had no Internet access and the troubleshooter said the dns server isn't responding. I don't know how to fix it. I've tried updating the driver, uninstalling/reinstalling the adapter, enabling/disabling it, connecting/disconnecting from the connection, trying the connection in another account as well as safe mode and nothing has worked.

View 1 Replies View RelatedYesterday I was on my cousin's computer, and we had to remove the ethernet cord to connect it to mine as my wireless adapter wasn't cooperating with his internet. This was all fine and dandy until we had to plug the ethernet cord back into his computer. It locks everything up. If you try to open a program, it won't open. If a program is already open when the cord is plugged in, it stops responding within 15 seconds.I called my brother, and he suggested I run a virus scan via Microsoft Security Essentials and MalwareBytes, which I did. MalwareBytes found 5 problems, MSE found 1 additional one. They have all been removed, however this problem still persists. If you try to start the computer with the ethernet cord plugged in, it will allow him to put in his password, it will say welcome for about 3-5 minutes, then the screen will go black. The mouse is visible, doing it's motion to indicate that it's loading something, but it never achieves anything.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to play an online game like Warcraft 3, the router stops responding to my computers sent packets. While still in the game, if I try to connect to a website the page isn't found. However, soon after exiting the game, I can access websites again.
The entire time while I was having the problem, I'm shown as still connected to the internet (not even showing the yellow ! sign for limited access). I ran a ping test to google.com while experiencing the problem and it said it could not find it. I checked the status of the connection, and it appears as though my computer is still sending packets normally, but the router is just unresponsive.
I have a Cisco 1841 router equipped with a serial interface and an ISDN BRI interface installed.The router has stopped suddenly responding and no display is beig obtained when trying to access the router through the console port.I have check the router LEDs and they display the following:
SYS PWR - It is showing solid green which means the router is receiving power, and the internal power supply is functional. It is not blinking green as is normally the case when the router is rebooted.
SYS ACT - It is showing solid green. It should normally be blinking green showing that the system is actively transferring packets and monitoring internal activity. CF - It is showing solid green. It should normally be off indicating that the CompactFlash memory card is not being accessed or be blinking green showing that the CompactFlash memory card is being accessed.
I have even replaced the CompactFlash memory with another one and removed the two WICs installed but the router still fails to initialise properly and respond through the console terminal program. how the router can be further troubleshooted or if it can be repaired?
I decided to buy myself a DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router, its wireless performance is thus far very stable and strong. This router factory firmware loaded is 5.10 HW: E3.I never use Router features like SPI and DoS Protection, and I always use DMZ for unrestricted filtering, I use a software firewall for protection and monitoring traversing packets.
The problem is, D-Link does limited filtering over DMZ, I�m not use to seeing this with other popular router brands, I�m not happy with this implementation of DMZ. Now what�s worse, the Router (not the computer set on DMZ) itself is responding to different TCP stealth scans like TCP NULL, XMAS, FIN.How to correct this without enabling protections like SPI, so the Router won�t respond nor drop these types of packets when a computer is set on DMZ.
My ISP provides me internet connection through password protecting Access Point bearing IP address 192.168.20.1 built with IP filtering which allows only a particular IP 192.168.20.88. I am not able to access internet on more than one computers simultaneously because router allows only single IP and I am not sure what are the WAN IP's uses Access Point provided by ISP eg. IP, Gateway and DNS. My ISP provides me static IP address for home computer as mentioned below :

I have this LinkSys by Cisco Wireless-N gigabit model# WRT310N router that quit functioning in a weird way. (it has Wi-Fi protected setup on it, not sure if that would effect it, it's disabled) I have a friend in the condo above mine, but i have a Dial-Up internet conn and can afford a good broadband internet conn. a co-worker gave this router to me, saying he didn't need it for his network at home. It was still in original box, unopened, So it was intact. i set it up so i can play Age of Empires 1 (you probably haven't heard of it, it's a single player or Multi-player TCP/IP comp-to-comp game from '96) and i used a gigabit wired conn, he used wireless-N laptop. We played a few games, on the 4th game, it locks up about 12 mins into the game. we try again, the comp not even recognize each other. Knowing a little about networking from watching the IT guys at work, i tried the PING command in cmd.exe in vista, it will ping the router, not the other laptop. same thing on the other laptop pinging my desktop. i unplugged the router, and went to sleep.Next day, i got back from work, called the friend, plugged the router back in, and it work for another 14 mins, no ping. possibilities? the LinkSys website doesn't give answers, so what is it?Further Edit: my Gigabit conn is going through a 3 ft CAT5e cable, and the wireless-N trans rate is set to 130 Mbps.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy internet is hooked via cat6 ethernet cable to my Cisco/linksys E2000 Router.Sometimes the net works fine, and there are no problems. Other times, after 10 minutes or so after booting up, net pages stop loading. The small yellow exclamation mark appears, and every time I run the troubleshooter, the same info comes back to me - DNS server is not responding. Until I restart again the internet wont work, but on occasion things seems to fix themselves and continue working until I shut down.This problem never happened before i moved back home. In my previous apartment we had comcast cable and it ran without a hitch. Since I have been home this DNS problem has persisted, but only on my computer. I run the only windows PC in the house - my family is mac happyThings I have trie - I have tried "netsh winsock reset" in the command prompt, I have run virus and spyware scans several times over, Have reset the modem, router, and the Mac which hosts my 'home network'-come to think of it, I haven't tried reinstalling my LAN driver, but that seems insignificant b/c it has never once had problems.
View 8 Replies View RelatedBought a Cisco RVL200 (latest firmware included - I checked), and I've set it up to serve as the gateway/firewall for my home network. I also intend to use the VPN functionality when travelling as well as serving up content from a web server behind it. All of this seems to work the way it is intended (after quite a bit of fiddling).
The problem however is that if it comes under any sort of load it simply stops responding - physically it looks alright with the expected leds being lit, just as it would when functioning normally. It does not display the management interface, nor does it even respond to ping (which it does when it works). If I start up a bittorrent client on any of the machines on the internal network and add a torrent to something popular like Ubuntu Linux it'll usually start downloading and then after 5-15 minutes the RVL200 will have stopped responding. Tried adding QOS settings to limit the computer running the client or downprioritize this type of traffic, but that does not seem to have any effect.
