Linksys Wireless Router :: E1200 Not Responding - Internet Gets Off
Oct 26, 2012I have E1200 wireless router and it was working nicely for the whole last year with 2 mac laptops hooked up on it. About 2 months ago there were 1 mac,1 win laptop and a network printer. And again, it was working just fine at the beginning. I'm not sure when exactly it happened first, but now after working couple of hours internet gets off and router stops responding. If I try to reconnect to it from my laptop I just see an error message saying something about "Connection timeout". Also I don't know does it have something to do with the network printer, btw it's connected to the router via ethernet cable not wireless. Anyway, the only solution I've found so far is power off the router for a couple of secs and power it on again, which is obviously not a solution at all, it's annoying and not practical. The time it works fine before it dies is also not fixed, it might be even 10 hrs of working and sometimes only 1-2 hrs. My other suspicion is firmware. I upgraded it almost at the same time when new laptop and printer showed up. Maybe I have to downgrade it, but I couldn't find older version of it. It was HW v. 1, SW v.1.0.00, and now it's HW v.1, SW v.1.0.03.

It's working one and after it stop working, looks like the router is not responding anymore. If I got on the web interface of the router, I loging, on the first web page I press save changes, even if I didn't change anything, the UPnP feature work again.
Looks like a timeout occure or something like that. Is there a way to wake up the router without having to go on the web interface? Why it's stop working?

Jan 17, 2013I setup my Windows 8 desktop for a PPTP VPN server so I can connect my iPhone 5 to it.Using the Cisco Connect Firmware, as I was having internet speed issues with the Smart Wi-Fi Firmware and I wasn't loving the interface of the Smart Wifi Firmware anyway.According to the router the firmware is up to date. All three VPN settings are enabled.PC is set to a static IP internally. 192.168.1.116 to be precise.PPTP port forwarding (1723) is set to the PC's static IP, though I have tried without port forwarding and it didn't work either.If I have my iPhone connected to the wireless network and point it to the internal IP address of the PC, I can connect to the VPN.If I bypass my router and hook my desktop directly to the modem (and point my iPhone to the IP that gets assigned to my desktop from my ISP) I can connect to the VPN.But if I have everything hooked up normally and try to connect to the VPN from my iPhone (using the IP address my ISP assigned to the router), I get a PPTP server not responding error.

May 22, 2012My internet is hooked via cat6 ethernet cable to my Cisco/linksys E2000 Router.Sometimes the net works fine, and there are no problems. Other times, after 10 minutes or so after booting up, net pages stop loading. The small yellow exclamation mark appears, and every time I run the troubleshooter, the same info comes back to me - DNS server is not responding. Until I restart again the internet wont work, but on occasion things seems to fix themselves and continue working until I shut down.This problem never happened before i moved back home. In my previous apartment we had comcast cable and it ran without a hitch. Since I have been home this DNS problem has persisted, but only on my computer. I run the only windows PC in the house - my family is mac happyThings I have trie - I have tried "netsh winsock reset" in the command prompt, I have run virus and spyware scans several times over, Have reset the modem, router, and the Mac which hosts my 'home network'-come to think of it, I haven't tried reinstalling my LAN driver, but that seems insignificant b/c it has never once had problems.

Jan 17, 2011Bought a Cisco RVL200 (latest firmware included - I checked), and I've set it up to serve as the gateway/firewall for my home network. I also intend to use the VPN functionality when travelling as well as serving up content from a web server behind it. All of this seems to work the way it is intended (after quite a bit of fiddling).
The problem however is that if it comes under any sort of load it simply stops responding - physically it looks alright with the expected leds being lit, just as it would when functioning normally. It does not display the management interface, nor does it even respond to ping (which it does when it works). If I start up a bittorrent client on any of the machines on the internal network and add a torrent to something popular like Ubuntu Linux it'll usually start downloading and then after 5-15 minutes the RVL200 will have stopped responding. Tried adding QOS settings to limit the computer running the client or downprioritize this type of traffic, but that does not seem to have any effect.

I reset the router and restored my previous configuration. After the reboot, the SSID is visible and I can connect to it but there is no internet connection. Also the router becomes unresponsive, i.e. timeout trying to access the router configuration page. After trying out different settings it seems that enabling WPA2+AES is the cause.In the mean time, I am running an open wireless network and everything seems fine. Is the hardware faulty? I am reluctant to update the firmware because of a negative experience with another router (same model).

When i go in to view the options it gives for Wireless Mode it says B/G or just B or G. Now up top it does say 802.11N Mode and has the option for Enable and Disable and its Enabled. Sep 29, 2011Whenever I try to play an online game like Warcraft 3, the router stops responding to my computers sent packets. While still in the game, if I try to connect to a website the page isn't found. However, soon after exiting the game, I can access websites again.
The entire time while I was having the problem, I'm shown as still connected to the internet (not even showing the yellow ! sign for limited access). I ran a ping test to google.com while experiencing the problem and it said it could not find it. I checked the status of the connection, and it appears as though my computer is still sending packets normally, but the router is just unresponsive.

Mar 18, 2011I have a Cisco 1841 router equipped with a serial interface and an ISDN BRI interface installed.The router has stopped suddenly responding and no display is beig obtained when trying to access the router through the console port.I have check the router LEDs and they display the following:
SYS PWR - It is showing solid green which means the router is receiving power, and the internal power supply is functional. It is not blinking green as is normally the case when the router is rebooted.
SYS ACT - It is showing solid green. It should normally be blinking green showing that the system is actively transferring packets and monitoring internal activity. CF - It is showing solid green. It should normally be off indicating that the CompactFlash memory card is not being accessed or be blinking green showing that the CompactFlash memory card is being accessed.
I have even replaced the CompactFlash memory with another one and removed the two WICs installed but the router still fails to initialise properly and respond through the console terminal program. how the router can be further troubleshooted or if it can be repaired?

Oct 17, 2011I decided to buy myself a DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router, its wireless performance is thus far very stable and strong. This router factory firmware loaded is 5.10 HW: E3.I never use Router features like SPI and DoS Protection, and I always use DMZ for unrestricted filtering, I use a software firewall for protection and monitoring traversing packets.
The problem is, D-Link does limited filtering over DMZ, I�m not use to seeing this with other popular router brands, I�m not happy with this implementation of DMZ. Now what�s worse, the Router (not the computer set on DMZ) itself is responding to different TCP stealth scans like TCP NULL, XMAS, FIN.How to correct this without enabling protections like SPI, so the Router won�t respond nor drop these types of packets when a computer is set on DMZ.

Apr 11, 2011I have this LinkSys by Cisco Wireless-N gigabit model# WRT310N router that quit functioning in a weird way. (it has Wi-Fi protected setup on it, not sure if that would effect it, it's disabled) I have a friend in the condo above mine, but i have a Dial-Up internet conn and can afford a good broadband internet conn. a co-worker gave this router to me, saying he didn't need it for his network at home. It was still in original box, unopened, So it was intact. i set it up so i can play Age of Empires 1 (you probably haven't heard of it, it's a single player or Multi-player TCP/IP comp-to-comp game from '96) and i used a gigabit wired conn, he used wireless-N laptop. We played a few games, on the 4th game, it locks up about 12 mins into the game. we try again, the comp not even recognize each other. Knowing a little about networking from watching the IT guys at work, i tried the PING command in cmd.exe in vista, it will ping the router, not the other laptop. same thing on the other laptop pinging my desktop. i unplugged the router, and went to sleep.Next day, i got back from work, called the friend, plugged the router back in, and it work for another 14 mins, no ping. possibilities? the LinkSys website doesn't give answers, so what is it?Further Edit: my Gigabit conn is going through a 3 ft CAT5e cable, and the wireless-N trans rate is set to 130 Mbps.

Networking :: 2640 Router Stops Responding Intermittently After A While With ADSL
Aug 18, 2012I am trying to set up ADSL and WiFi in a country home. I have bought a DLink DSL-2640 modem-router for this. The device is connected to the ADSL, everything works fine. The device has a WiFi AP capability - I have set up the WiFi and I am accessing the network from 2 different iPads, 2 PCs and an Android phone. After a few hours of work I begin to notice that one of the iPads is taking to long to load pages - it even can't load the router's web interface. This goes on for 5-10 minutes or so, then it passes away. Same stuff happens to Android, but rarer. PC has this problem occasionally also, but rarest of all.
I am assuming that this is a problem of the device - ADSL and WiFi might be too much for it. I got a dedicated WiFi router (TP-Link WR740N), connected it to the DLink and turned off WiFi on the D-Link.
Same stuff happens. After a while the Internet stops responding - I can't load the router's web interface. Goes on for 2-10 minutes and passes. WiFi is functional, I can disconnect and connect a device, device obtains an address through DHCP.
I updated both devices to the latest official firmware. I tried switching WiFi channels, switched the router to g-only mode. EM interference is very unlikely since it's a country home and there are no wifi networks around.
D-Link DIR-655 :: Stops Responding To Internet But Modem / Router Lights Fine
Jul 29, 2011As of two days ago my DIR-655 seems to have stopped loading webpages every 10-30minutes for periods of up to 5-15 minutes, as in they the reloading icon will constantly be circling and the webpage remains blank, no error or anything until it says failed to load on my web browser (tried multiple browsers such as Safari, Chrome, IE and Firefox). This problem occurs on every computer on my network, laptops (both Mac and PC) and desktops. When this problem occurs all lights on modem and router seem to be normal no signs of anything going down but I originally thought that this affected wired and wireless but I seem to have narrowed it to culprit being the wireless. When connected to the PC I can browse for an indefinite amount of time without the webpages failing to respond, however when I connected to WiFi through Airport on a Macbook Air my webpages start to begin failing to load around 5-10 minutes of browsing which affects all computers connected to the network (essentially all computers failing to respond to the internet during this outage).
Interestingly when this problem occurs, if I am connected to Skype or Aim it will stay connected and I can still chat with people but I will not be able to sign onto AIM if the problem occurs before I sign on and I try to sign on during the outage. If I am streaming a video from justin.tv or ustream it still continues to stream during this "outage".I have the revB of the DIR-655 and have tried resetting the modem, turning off the firewall, upgrading firmware to 2.03NA from 2.01NA and setting the MTU to 1400 (default 1500) with nothing working. I am using Time Warner Wideband ISP and have connected the modem directly to my PC and for the 30minutes or so that I tested the web browsing it seemed fine and did not have any errors.

As we comunicated with the router thorugh HyperTerminal, the router asked me to restart. After we did so the router only sends encrypted messages wich is unreadable. We neither get any respons in the terminal when we try to write commands back to the router.We have tried to use different terminal programs as well as the USB port on the router.
