Protocols / Routing :: Linksys WRT54GS Is Not Responding To Ip?
Aug 24, 2011
The router is technically operating. My internet is up and running and working great. What I cannot do is bring up the Linksys router page to log into the router by entering the ip 192.168.1.1 in the browser URL. When I do, nothing happens.

Comcast Cable Internet Linksys WRT54G Router (using wired, not wireless)
I've done this a million times over so I thought I knew what I was doing. I set my IP as 192.168.1.236 and get all of the information I need from ipconfig. When I put it all together though, it just doesn't work. I think I'm not getting the correct DNS information from ipconfig and the blockheads at Comcast have no idea what a name server is. I've called and talked to about twenty different people there and no one can give me my name server. *sigh*
At any rate, below is a screenshot of what I'm getting in ipconfig. My assumption is that I'm not getting the correct DNS info, but I don't even know at this point.

I just bought this wireless router. I have 3 smartphones, kindle fire, 2 ipod touches and a laptop with win7 connected fine. But I have a laptop with vista that will connect local only with no internet. Went live chat with cisco and no result. I get the 82 code even after I try a quick key. It says "An HNAP call to the device failed because the HTTP connection was broken". I have resarted router and laptop. All other devices work fine and have no problem connecting on this router.

I have this WRT350N with me for a long time. It always worked well, and for a while I didn't used it (like 1 year). Last morning, I set it up and put it to work again and it worked perfectly, but in the evening the wireless stop working. Through cable, the internet works finely.
The light does not turn on or blink anymore. The router setup says that SSID broadcast is enabled. But I can't find the network, even if I type its name and password (supposing it was in invisible mode or something like that).
So I restored the router to its normal configuration, and once again the wireless does not work. Is there something else I can do to make the wireless work again?

I've got a problem with my Linksys E1000 router. When I bought it, it worked without trouble. Setup was easy and straight forward and I was able to connect all my wireless devices (2 latops, a mobile) without any problem. Then, after two months or so, I noticed the laptops were losing internet connection (or not finding the wireless network on start up). Rebooting the router seemed to work the first couple of times to restore the wireless connections, but after a few more days, the wireless network either shows up and the devices are unable to connect to it OR the wireless network does not appear in the network list. However, the wired connection to my desktop PC via ethernet cable has no issues at all. My conclusion is that these wireless routers (E1000) have a defect in the radio card.

I have a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router (10.77.79.1, 255.255.255.0) which hands-out DHCP addresses to my wireless/wired clients. This router is connected to the cable modem which then connects to the wonderful World Wide Web. Port 1 of this router is connected to a Cisco SG200-8 Small Business Switch (10.77.79.3, 255.255.255.0). My Dell 2950 is then connected to the SG200-8.
I would like to segment my lab environment (Dell 2950) using a 192.168.10.X scheme, so I configured a static route in the WRT54GS using these settings:
Dest. IP: 192.168.10.0
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 10.77.79.3
Here is my IP information for the SG200-8:
IP: 10.77.79.3
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 10.77.79.1
I know I'm doing something wrong because I cannot ping any of the 192.168.10.X IP addresses from the 10.77.79.X network, and vice-verse. All VLANs on the SG200-8 are set at their defaults (1 and Trunk?).
Are there any additional configuration steps I need to perform in the SG200-8 or WRT54G? Is what I want to do even possible with my hardware?

I have a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router. I was trying to get into the set up (using the IP listed in here [URL]) and it asked for a username and password. I have what I thought was the password but no idea what the username was. I tried Administrator and what I had written down as the password but nada. This was originally set up 9 years ago and 3 pc's ago.On the bottom of the router is listed Ownership ID, Device ID, and a serial numb.

I have a Linksys WRT54GS router. It has been performing fine for many years. We have 2 PCs and 2 MacBooks that get on the wifi network with no problem. However, several months ago, a friend could not get his iPad online. Last week, a guest with a PC couldn't get online. I just bought an iPhone and it can't get online either. In all 3 cases, the devices found the network but when we typed the correct password the devices were unable to connect. The 4 laptops connect with no problem.
how to get my new iPhone and other new devices to connect?

I lost my Cd for the router. I have the Linksys WRT54GS V7.2. It works if I hook my computer & x-box up to it. But the problem I'm having is not being able to make it a secure network to keep my neighbors from pinging off of my internet. I know when they come home everday without looking out my window. My connection goes from great to I'm not sure my page is ever going to load. This just started when they got two or more laptops.

I am currently using a Linksys WRT54GS router. In my house we have about 15 connections to it with all but 2 of them wireless. Not all of the devices can get on at the same time so I called Linksys and they said our router only supports up to 11 or 12 connections. My question is how do I determine the amount of connections a router can handle at once so that I do not have this problem any more.

I have got a PC at work (Windows XP Pro SP3) that is on two networks with the IPs 10.20.30.167, subnet 255.255.255.0 (internet enabled) and 10.0.0.20, subnet 255.255.255.0 (no internet). On the 10.0.0.X network there is a gateway with the IP 10.0.0.200 allowing access to another network; 192.168.60.X, subnet 255.255.255.0 (no internet). I have added the route on my work PC to access the 192.168.60.X network via this gateway and I can access all PCs on all three networks from this PC.Now, I am using LogMeIn Hamachi so that I can access the networks at work from home. The PC at work is the 'gateway' PC on the Hamachi network. When installing Hamachi it created a new network connection and bridged this connection with my 10.20.30.167 network adapter to allow access to the 10.20.30.X network from an external PC when connected using the Hamachi VPN connection. I have manually configured my Hamachi connection on my PC at home to the IP 10.20.30.169, subnet 255.255.255.0, with the default gateway set to 10.20.30.167. I can ping all computers on the 10.20.30.X network from my PC at home.
I then added a route on my PC at home for 10.0.0.X to go via 10.20.30.167 (the 'gateway' on the Hamachi network). I also enabled IP forwarding on the 'gateway' PC (my PC at work). I can not ping any PC on the 10.0.0.X network from my PC at home apart from 10.0.0.20 (the other NIC in the Hamachi gateway PC) and 10.0.0.30 (another PC on the 10.20.30.X network that is also on the 10.0.0.X network). Now, with IP forwarding enabled on the Hamachi gateway PC I would assume after adding the route on my PC at home for 10.0.0.X traffic to go via 10.20.30.167 that I would be able to ping all PCs on the 10.0.0.X network...I also tried adding a route on my home PC to send all traffic for the 192.168.60.X network via 10.20.30.167 which has a route via 10.0.0.200 to the 192.168.60.X network, but this also did not work.I then tried adding the 10.0.0.20 network adapter into the network bridge that the Hamachi connection made, also keeping both IPs (10.20.30.167 and 10.0.0.20) on this network bridge by adding them into the 'IP Settings' in the 'Advanced TCI/IP Settings'. I also added the 10.0.0.200 gateway for good measure. I still cannot ping any PC on the 10.0.0.X or 192.168.60.X networks from my PC at home.
I have also added the route to the 10.20.30.X network on a PC on the 10.0.0.X network to go via 10.0.0.20 and tried pinging a PC on the 10.20.30.X network but this also has not worked. Also setting the default gateway on a PC on the 10.0.0.X network to 10.0.0.20 does not allow this...Surely bridging the networks 10.20.30.167 and 10.0.0.20 on my work PC would allow another PC on the 10.0.0.X network to access the 10.20.30.X network after adding the route or setting 10.0.0.20 as the default gateway?

My internet is hooked via cat6 ethernet cable to my Cisco/linksys E2000 Router.Sometimes the net works fine, and there are no problems. Other times, after 10 minutes or so after booting up, net pages stop loading. The small yellow exclamation mark appears, and every time I run the troubleshooter, the same info comes back to me - DNS server is not responding. Until I restart again the internet wont work, but on occasion things seems to fix themselves and continue working until I shut down. This problem never happened before i moved back home. In my previous apartment we had comcast cable and it ran without a hitch. Since I have been home this DNS problem has persisted, but only on my computer. I run the only windows PC in the house - my family is mac happyThings I have trie - I have tried "netsh winsock reset" in the command prompt, I have run virus and spyware scans several times over, Have reset the modem, router, and the Mac which hosts my 'home network'-come to think of it, I haven't tried reinstalling my LAN driver, but that seems insignificant b/c it has never once had problems.

I have E1200 wireless router and it was working nicely for the whole last year with 2 mac laptops hooked up on it. About 2 months ago there were 1 mac,1 win laptop and a network printer. And again, it was working just fine at the beginning. I'm not sure when exactly it happened first, but now after working couple of hours internet gets off and router stops responding. If I try to reconnect to it from my laptop I just see an error message saying something about "Connection timeout". Also I don't know does it have something to do with the network printer, btw it's connected to the router via ethernet cable not wireless. Anyway, the only solution I've found so far is power off the router for a couple of secs and power it on again, which is obviously not a solution at all, it's annoying and not practical. The time it works fine before it dies is also not fixed, it might be even 10 hrs of working and sometimes only 1-2 hrs. My other suspicion is firmware. I upgraded it almost at the same time when new laptop and printer showed up. Maybe I have to downgrade it, but I couldn't find older version of it. It was HW v. 1, SW v.1.0.00, and now it's HW v.1, SW v.1.0.03.

I have a wireless router and I'm trying to user UPnP feature. of course it is enble in the router.
It's working one and after it stop working, looks like the router is not responding anymore. If I got on the web interface of the router, I loging, on the first web page I press save changes, even if I didn't change anything, the UPnP feature work again.
Looks like a timeout occure or something like that. Is there a way to wake up the router without having to go on the web interface? Why it's stop working?

Bought a Cisco RVL200 (latest firmware included - I checked), and I've set it up to serve as the gateway/firewall for my home network. I also intend to use the VPN functionality when travelling as well as serving up content from a web server behind it. All of this seems to work the way it is intended (after quite a bit of fiddling).
The problem however is that if it comes under any sort of load it simply stops responding - physically it looks alright with the expected leds being lit, just as it would when functioning normally. It does not display the management interface, nor does it even respond to ping (which it does when it works). If I start up a bittorrent client on any of the machines on the internal network and add a torrent to something popular like Ubuntu Linux it'll usually start downloading and then after 5-15 minutes the RVL200 will have stopped responding. Tried adding QOS settings to limit the computer running the client or downprioritize this type of traffic, but that does not seem to have any effect.

I needed to bring my laptop Toshiba satellite A135 - S4404 computer back to factory settings. When I did I lost my internet connection. I have a wireless G router. I tried setting up a new connection. When I couldnt remember my username and password to the linksys, I made several attempts to give them one.A fool hearty effort on my part. They locked me out. I was given a red X on that particular network. How to get back to where I can give them the necessary username and password?I believe I found it written on my Linksys user guide.
