im on widows seven and it is a lenovo laptop. It cuts out every minute or so. it say not internet access in my network connections. my router is netgear swell i think. its security type is WPA2-PSK. It mainly happens when i go to play an online game called roblox but also happens when i open up any normal pagge as well. I looked for the WZC but I coudnt find it.
View 1 RepliesI have two laptops in front of me, running continuous pings to my gateway (router) and to google. One computer pings both targets fine and doesn't time out. The other computer, an Asus G73JW laptop, occasionally times out. This makes browsing annoying because loading websites sometimes times out, network operations (like file copying) times out, etc.

I've updated my wireless card drivers. During this test, I'm sitting beside my router to minimize distance.
The problem I am having is my wired internet connection is going out every minute or so and stays out for about 1-2 seconds at a time sometimes it stays out for around 3-4 mins usually twice a day. This problem has been occurring everyday for the past 2 or so years some days it is worse. I have power cycled the modem and router many times, replaced the router, replaced the modem bypassed the router and it always does the same thing. I have gotten cox cable to come out many times, once was to replace the modem, and it conveniently does not have problems when they come then i look stupid. I have showed them the screen shots of the outages from pinging multiple points on the network as shown in the attached screen shot, as you can see in window labeled 1 is a continuous ping of google.com, window 2 is the first hop on the tracert as shown at the bottom of the picture, window 3 is my modem, and window 4 is my router.
As you can see I never lose connection to my router or modem and it is the same when i run tests from other devices. Every time I call them or show them this picture the only response I get is there are no reported outages and to try to reset my modem and router or they can send a tech. When the tech comes there seems to be no problems and I show him the screen shots and he writes it off as peak hour malfunctions even though it does it at non-peak hours as well. Then when he leaves It starts to freak out again I have gone through this scenario at least 3 or 4 times and at this point am getting very frustrated. Even though it is not very noticeable with normal web browsing in gaming and streaming it is a nightmare. I would have already switched service providers if there were any other that service my area.
first I couldn't even connect the thing to the internet, now every time I try to download something, like a youtube clip, patch for a game or even a tiny download the speed seems to crap out and then slow to absolutely nothing after just 2 or 3 seconds.. also sometimes I can't even connect to my router with 192.168.2.1, the page is just blank, half to disconnect router and reconnect.. Some days I can't even download a website without having to constantly refresh the page.for a youtube video if I just keep refreshing the page it downloads a part at a time till it gets the entire thing.. My internet speed is around 15 MB/s, before the download quits the speed is always fast..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a new laptop (Toshiba Z830) last month and for the last few days my wireless internet keeps disconnecting and reconnecting after about a minute. It'll disconnect and say there's no internet (there's a yellow exclamation mark on the icon on the taskbar) and after about a minute it'll reconnect. I don't know if there's a pattern but I've noticed it keeps happening when I try to watch a video on youtube and sometimes at other times. No other device of mine is having any problems (desktop, phone, netbook), just my laptop.

I have to go to the network connections, disable the wireless then enable it again for it to work.The wireless icon sometimes has a yellow triangle with a ! in it and sometimes has a red cross over it. This happens when I'm sitting next to the router. I have my PS3 and WII set up to it too and they work fine and they are further away from the router so dont think its that.

The only other devices that we are using wirelessly are our phones, which we never notice a problem with. When it is connected, the signal stength is excellent. It just keeps dropping. Speed 72.0 mbps.

I've been having this problem for several months now and I've tried most of the "solutions" on this forum and many others to no success. This casually varies from day to day and even over the course of a day, sometimes I can go a week at a time without any problem and then other times I'll spend an entire weekend not getting any luck. Essentially my wireless connection will randomly cut out with severely different periods of time inbetween, can happen every few hours or every 10 minutes and as said on different days. Most of the time I have to restart my PC or power cycle to get it to start to work again but also some times It'll automatically reconnect after 5-10 seconds or a few minutes.
As I'm sure you've heard a thousand times this is extremely frustrating when browsing the web or trying to download a large file and constantly being interrupted. My kids who live downstairs and have their own PC's in their room don't have this problem, one is using a wired connection and the other a wireless. As I've stated it only started a few months ago and I've had this PC for a year and a half and the router nor the PC have not changed position in the house or had any drastic changes to either of them.

My wireless signal cuts out, but to be clear it doesn't disappear altogether. Instead the signal drops to the point where the connection is useless. I found out by accident that if I disconnect, the signal suddenly shows at full strength; if I reconnect, it works fine, for anywhere between a few minutes and several hours.
View 7 Replies View Related I've recently purchased the EA3500 dual band wireless-N router to replace my old and somewhat tired WRT54GS. The old router worked, I just decided to upgrade to wireless-N since all of my devices are now capable.My ISP is Comcast and I use a Motorola SB 6120 cable modem. After an extremely easy setup of the new router last week, I experienced one full day of glorious speedier network and internet traffic. However, roughly 24 hours after installation I started experiencing intermittetent internet connectivity issues. As in - the cable modem is accessible for 2 minutes and then can't be found for 2 minutes, repeat forever.
After multiple different troubleshooting steps, including rebooting both the modem and the router together, separately, and releasing and renewing the router's IP Address through the router's admin page, I finally ended up resetting the router back to factory defaults and letting Windows 7 guide me through the re-installation rather than using the provided "easy setup" CD from Cisco.
This seemed to have worked, but 2 days later, my "every 2 minutes" issue returned.
Something important to note here is that all of my devices - both wired and wireless - are able to communicate with each other without issue. For example - while I have no access to the cable modem, I am able to stream music from a wired desktop through a wireless laptop to a wireless receiver connected to my TV. I am also able to access the router's admin tools during my connectivity issues.
I have a wrt160n v3. This is the 3rd one - both the first 2 were defective. I have spent approximately 8 hours troubleshooting the other 2 only to be told they're defective. So, I got a new one. Now, this one keeps cutting in and out. I want as my iPhone constantly switches from 3G to wifi on and over every minute. It really ticks me off! What can I do to fix this? This is a different issue than the original one (very slow) and 2nd (no signal). It's disappointing for a $90 router to do this. I also see the wireless icon on the router flash.

I have a new SRP 541W with v. 1.2.4 firmware.
Daily, (random times) I have to do a hard reset in order to get the wireless up and running. It works great and then with no warning, no other issues, the wireless just stops. The wired connections still work just fine.
Everything comes up perfectly fine after it reboots, until the next day when I have to reboot it again.
I purchased this computer earlier today and was excited to get it home and get it up and running. It seemed to run fairly well for the first hour or so but a little while after i began to download League of Legends and games through Steam, the wireless connection became nigh un-usable. It cuts out constantly, and when it is online the speeds are ridiculously slow.
I am typing this from my 4 year old laptop, which is having no issue at all with my connection, roughly 6 inches from where my brand new Dell is, so location surely isn't the issue. I tried closing Steam and just letting LoL finish downloading, but that had no effect. I have turned my laptop off but it made no difference. I have of course tried restarting the router - nothing. I'm very disappointed, since online gaming is the number one reason I chose this PC.
My computer is a HP Laptop Model Number DV2815EA running windows vista 32 bit. Its a few years old. Recently i have had problems with my wireless adapter turning itself off whenever i watch videos online. It doesn't happen all the time, but if i am watching something for more than an hour it will cut off. There is a blue light and a switch on the front of the laptop, and when the wireless adapter is off, the light changes to red.
The light will change to red sometimes whilst watching video, and the only way i can turn the wireless back on is if i restart the system. Even if i activate and disable the wireless adapter using the external manual switch, or the internal controls using the wireless assistant. Also, not sure if this is relevant but i can no longer either watch videos on full screen as the image gets jolty.
Things i have tried:
1) restoring the system to a previous restore point - i tried this but for some reason the only restore points i could find were ones dated after i started noticing the problem.
2) reinstalling the wireless adapter driver and video card driver.
3) running a full 6 hour antivirus scan - I am using Eset NOD32 antivirus and also i scanned using comodo cleaning essentials.
I just signed up for Charter's Ultra 100Mbps internet service. We confirmed it worked at that speed by connecting my Lenovo T520 laptop directly to the Motorola Cable modem. I acheived just over 102Mbps throughput down.Next, I plugged in the e4200 (v1) router to the modem, and the computer directly to that (wired), and the max performance I could see was right around 52Mbps. Wireless performance on wireless-n, 5Ghz, maxes out at around 42Mbps.I am concerned about the throughput dropping from 102Mbps to 52Mbps while directly WIRED to the router. That tells me that the router is definitely capping my throughput. I have turned off QOS, found the optimum MTU of 1468 (used the ping -f -l 1440 [url]...) to find the largest MTU that didn't spit out a fragmented message, and added 28 to that.
I am a bit baffled that this top of the line router which some have claimed to see >100Mbps performance over wireless alone, isn't able to achieve any higher than 52Mbps wired. I do have other devices plugged in, but none actively transferring. What could be capping the throughput? The router worked fine on 25Mbps service, but it seems unable to handle 100Mbps service.
I've got a problem with my new Linksys E1200 (v1) router. It cuts the bandwidth of my PPTP connection with ISP (which is 50 Mbps) down to about 12 Mpbs. My firmware is the latest one (v1.0.03 build 4). I've done some reading and found out that it's pretty common problem between Linksys E-Series routers and ISPs that use PPTP/L2TP.

Then checked it through the Valetplus router and the speed results are 8.5 Mbps. Both tests were wired in with same cable. Why this happens and if that is common with wifi routers?

I thought that with the E2500 being a dual band - I wouldn't have this issue as I thought the router would switch to the 5 Ghz frequency if there was interference on the lower band. Maybe I am not understanding how the dual band works.

My roommate never has any issues with his wireless connection, and this is the first time I've had connection issues with this laptop.The provider is Comcast and it runs through a hard wired/wireless modem (no antennas). View 1 Replies View RelatedI keep getting disconnected and blocked from using even LAN on my computer. This happens whenever I visit certain websites. For instance, I registered on a website that has me "kept signed in", and whenever I click to view that website, it partially loads and then for precisely 1 minute any network activity I try (like visiting my router configuration page, or clicking refresh or home to load google) will not go through. Only after that one minute is over with, I can resume browsing that website; however, if I leave it for too long, and then return, the same thing happens.
I've also noticed that if I sign out of that website and then visit it, that disconnect issue won't happen.But that isn't the case with other websites, as they require no accounts and are just pages with news and other stuff.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my ethernet drivers, tried flushing dns, renewing ip, releasing and some other /cmd stuff that I found online.This also doesn't happen on any of the computers connected to my router (although, they are all using wireless - I am using cable to router).I'm on windows 7 x64, using a realtek ethernet card, Nod32 security suite (think it may be the settings on this thing? I set everything to super safe settings so I don't get any dumb viruses). Windows is updated (well, at least 3-4 months ago it was updated). I have Broadband Internet and TV through Time Warner Cable. In the past week I suddenly began to lose stations on my cable box from what seemed to be a loss in signal so I had tech support come out to take a look at the problem. Turns out the problem was the wiring in the cable box outside the house. The wiring was over a decade old and had been damaged by water and ice over many winters. Tech support guy replaced all the wiring and the cable box is back to normal!However, after sitting down to use the Internet afterwards my connection kept "dying". Every ten to fifteen minutes or so the connection would seem to die for a minute or two.
All devices connected to the router either wired or wireless experience the issue at the same exact time. Windows diagnosed the problem as "DNS Server Not Responding". Now my router setup has been working for years, and nothing has been changed, so I thought maybe it could be related with the issue with the cable wiresHowever, researching the DNS issue on Google makes me think it's just coincidence.
I rebooted and power cycled the modem and the router. The issue persists. Updated router firmware. The issue persists. I changed my DNS settings to use OpenDNS. The issue persists. Changed DNS settings back to automatic. The issue persists. So I disconnected the router and plugged the modem directly into my main PC and the issue was completely resolved! Hooked up the router again and the issue popped back up after ten minutesRepeated all the troubleshooting steps and the issue persisted through them all.
I did a speed test and everything seemed good. Dl speeds at 16mb/s and upload speeds at .99 mb/s. However when I go to websites and load pictures it takes like a minute to load. Why is that?y speed seems fine when I test it, but slow to load stuff.
