Acer Laptop - Internet Connects Manually But Drops A Minute Later
Jun 4, 2011I have a window 7 acer laptop, 3 as a matter of fact, i just upgraded to charter high speed internet and i have this new router its called ubee router/modem i have no trouble with my window xp with the wire less connection, but on the 3 windows 7 computers they will drop or lose the wireless conection and we have to refresh the network and it will do okay untill its shut off and it might connect, charter. If i use a direct cable no problems at all. even if i set the router up with no wepkey it will still drop wireless umm what could i do to correct this

Oct 18, 2012I have a server (Windows Server 2003) that randomly looses connection with the default gateway and anything on the outside. When this happens, the server cant ping the gateway (A Juniper SSG5 firewall/router) and the gateway cant ping the server. But the server still can ping anything else on the network and everything inside the network works fine with it. The most reliable remedy is to reboot the router. Rebooting the server or resetting the network card sometimes works. I have tried both onboard network cards and a separate PCI network card on the server. There are no router log entries that correspond to the problem. This server is used as a Terminal Server for a remote office and as a file server.

My roommate never has any issues with his wireless connection, and this is the first time I've had connection issues with this laptop.The provider is Comcast and it runs through a hard wired/wireless modem (no antennas). Our connection is encrypted. My signal strength is always excellent, but still briefly disconnects with a continuous cycle, as it automatically reconnects.

Aug 18, 2011My new RVS4000 (2.0.2.7) connects the WAN via PPoE with dynamic IP which is held at DynDNS and normally I see the RVS4000 via a router-to-router-VPN. That works fine so far, but every "some" days the router looses WAN connection (and with ist VPN). When this happens, last DynDNS-update is hours ago, so it didn`t reconnect. Looking on the routers site, the LAN is fully functional for clients that have got their DHCP-Information. New clients don`t get DHCP-Info (IP-address, DNS), both do not have internet access. The router`s WAN-summary shows, that it thinks to be "CONNECTED" but with empty WAN-IP and DNS entries. Klicking "DISCONNECT" and then "CONNECT" again solves the problem so far. The loss of connection is not the periodic break from the IPC, which is correctly identified and reconnected as configured. I wanted to trace the problem with the log, but there is also a bug. It stops logging at some time completely - neither email-log nor local log, so I never happend to be lucky to hit the point of loss of connection. Also the local log provides a first and next pages, but the next pages are always empty - not really useful.

Dec 26, 2012The problem I am having is my wired internet connection is going out every minute or so and stays out for about 1-2 seconds at a time sometimes it stays out for around 3-4 mins usually twice a day. This problem has been occurring everyday for the past 2 or so years some days it is worse. I have power cycled the modem and router many times, replaced the router, replaced the modem bypassed the router and it always does the same thing. I have gotten cox cable to come out many times, once was to replace the modem, and it conveniently does not have problems when they come then i look stupid. I have showed them the screen shots of the outages from pinging multiple points on the network as shown in the attached screen shot, as you can see in window labeled 1 is a continuous ping of google.com, window 2 is the first hop on the tracert as shown at the bottom of the picture, window 3 is my modem, and window 4 is my router.
As you can see I never lose connection to my router or modem and it is the same when i run tests from other devices. Every time I call them or show them this picture the only response I get is there are no reported outages and to try to reset my modem and router or they can send a tech. When the tech comes there seems to be no problems and I show him the screen shots and he writes it off as peak hour malfunctions even though it does it at non-peak hours as well. Then when he leaves It starts to freak out again I have gone through this scenario at least 3 or 4 times and at this point am getting very frustrated. Even though it is not very noticeable with normal web browsing in gaming and streaming it is a nightmare. I would have already switched service providers if there were any other that service my area.
No Connection For A Minute Or Two - DNS Server Not Responding?
Jan 4, 2012I have Broadband Internet and TV through Time Warner Cable. In the past week I suddenly began to lose stations on my cable box from what seemed to be a loss in signal so I had tech support come out to take a look at the problem. Turns out the problem was the wiring in the cable box outside the house. The wiring was over a decade old and had been damaged by water and ice over many winters. Tech support guy replaced all the wiring and the cable box is back to normal!However, after sitting down to use the Internet afterwards my connection kept "dying". Every ten to fifteen minutes or so the connection would seem to die for a minute or two.
All devices connected to the router either wired or wireless experience the issue at the same exact time. Windows diagnosed the problem as "DNS Server Not Responding". Now my router setup has been working for years, and nothing has been changed, so I thought maybe it could be related with the issue with the cable wiresHowever, researching the DNS issue on Google makes me think it's just coincidence.
I rebooted and power cycled the modem and the router. The issue persists. Updated router firmware. The issue persists. I changed my DNS settings to use OpenDNS. The issue persists. Changed DNS settings back to automatic. The issue persists. So I disconnected the router and plugged the modem directly into my main PC and the issue was completely resolved! Hooked up the router again and the issue popped back up after ten minutesRepeated all the troubleshooting steps and the issue persisted through them all.

The cleint doesn't disconnect, I just can't access anything from the client.Disconnecting and reconnecting the client fixes the problem, temporarily depending on how much data I'm transferring.This works 90% of the time.The other 10% if I wait 30-45 minutes, and try again.. It works...with the same results...
It was originally isolated to a Win 2003 server that I was using as the client.It is now happening on my Win XP client as well.I'm using the AnyConnect client ver. 2.5.2014 with the VPN service on the UC520.Which I beleive, is similar to the ASA 5500 series VPN device.I am running ver 8.1.0 on the UC 520, and I can't remember if this started after upgrading to the new software.
Sonicwall Router - Every 1 Minute The TCP Connection Is Dropped?
Sep 1, 2011we got a Sonicwall router and we have been having stability issues. Every 1 minute the TCP connectio is dropped as well as UDP packets. This router is connected to a T1 connection and its requesting a DHCP lease every couple minutes as well. We originally had two WAN connections, and we have disabled the second one because someone thought it was that, but obviously it has to do with the internal network. This is a dual WAN router.

Nov 30, 2011I'm using the 802.11 Mode Mixed, with WPA (Both WPA-WPA2).
I'm new but I recently bought a new D-Link DIR-615 router. After getting everything setup manually due to the cd install not working properly. I was walked through the manual setup with D-Link Tech Sup. Now everything is working fine, but when I go to open mushclient and log into one of my mushes to rp, I will connect just fine, but after a min or so the connection drops on the client itself.
Now before this D-Link, I had a Netgear router and Lynksys Routers, ran the install software and everything. Things worked, I was able to login to my mushes and not worry about getting disconnected from them. But now with his router, I feel because I didn't install the software, that something wasn't setup properly and I have to reconnect to the mush every few minutes. Now the internet doesn't drop, I'm still online, still able to surf, able to play on my Xbox 360 and connect online with my laptop. But this one program, the connection drops constantly. Now If I just connect using just my modem, I can stay connected until the mush times out due to me being idle for say about 8mins. But if I'm chatting with someone in Mushclient, the connection drops and I have to reconnect.

Every 5 to 7 days my router loses connection with WAN (ISP modem) but connection over LAN is fine. It seems that 1043ND tries to connect to DSL modem from AT&T by username and password (that does not exists) instead of doing Dynamic IP. I understand that AT&T modem is of type of PPPoE but there is not a password or user id and connection must be dynamic. Page 192.168.0.1/logininfo of modem complains that I was trying to login with incorrect user id password. Every time I have to
1- connect the modem directly to my computer so the modem resets.
2- I have to reset 1043ND to factory default, reboot, and connect cables back how they were, Then go to WAN page do a release and renew to get connected to WAN again.
Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WUSBF54G Looses Connection To Internet?
Sep 8, 2011i have a WUSBF54G that will connect to my router just fine. Right when the device is first plugged in there aren't any problems. I can ping my router, I can ping google.com. The browsers all work correctly, etc. But after a while, maybe 30 minutes (it varies) I lose the connection to the internet. I can still ping the router. I can ping other devices on my network. But I cannot ping any websites by DNS name or by IP address and any browser I use won't display any websites. I have other wired and wireless connections on this network that don't have any problems. I even unplugged this adapter and plugged it into a different computer and had similar results. The device is relatively new (maybe a month old, but only used a few times within that month, and the use that it did get is mostly from trying to troubleshoot this issue.) I have a netopia 3000 router and I have checked to see if the problem could be caused by this router but there is nothing out of the ordinary there. All of my troubleshooting has been using the Win 7 "network and sharing center" to connect. I couldn't get the linksys connection tool to work and actually, I noticed after reading this forum that the linksys wifi connection tool doesn't work with win 7 after all so I don't think using the built in win 7 wifi tools would cause the issue. Also, just to clarify, in an attempt to resolve the issue I have tried dynamically assigning an IP address for this connection and also a static IP address. Either method seemed to yield no results. It is a frustrating problem to say the least. I don't want to believe that the adaptor is faulty. As I said it is relatively new. Also, as I mentioned, when I first plug it in it will work correctly for about the first half hour or so before it will stop reaching the internet. I then have to physically unplug the device and plug it back in in order to correct the issue. I was thinking of creating some kind of script that will automatically disable the adapter every 30 minutes and then enable the adapter. I ran into another issue here though. If I disable the adaptor (either from device manager or from "Network Connections) the device will change status from "Not Connected" to "Disabled." So far so good. But then, when I go to enable the adaptor again the adaptor disappears from the list. It's as if it isn't plugged in any more. The only way to get it back is to physically unplug the device and physically plug it back in. How to "Enable" the device without it disappearing from the network adapter list.

The Android devices show the presence of the network, but they never "connect" - find the IP address. The problem can only be resolved by re-booting (powering off/on) the E1500. Mar 22, 2012I just brought home an older desktop and my wireless connection seems to disconnect about every 30 seconds to a minute, then reconnects.
The only other devices that we are using wirelessly are our phones, which we never notice a problem with. When it is connected, the signal stength is excellent. It just keeps dropping. Speed 72.0 mbps.
I am using a Linksys E-1200 wireless N router, and a Belkin N150 USB adapter.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA3500 Dropping Internet Connection Every 2 Minute?
Apr 12, 2012 I've recently purchased the EA3500 dual band wireless-N router to replace my old and somewhat tired WRT54GS. The old router worked, I just decided to upgrade to wireless-N since all of my devices are now capable.My ISP is Comcast and I use a Motorola SB 6120 cable modem. After an extremely easy setup of the new router last week, I experienced one full day of glorious speedier network and internet traffic. However, roughly 24 hours after installation I started experiencing intermittetent internet connectivity issues. As in - the cable modem is accessible for 2 minutes and then can't be found for 2 minutes, repeat forever.
After multiple different troubleshooting steps, including rebooting both the modem and the router together, separately, and releasing and renewing the router's IP Address through the router's admin page, I finally ended up resetting the router back to factory defaults and letting Windows 7 guide me through the re-installation rather than using the provided "easy setup" CD from Cisco.
This seemed to have worked, but 2 days later, my "every 2 minutes" issue returned.
Something important to note here is that all of my devices - both wired and wireless - are able to communicate with each other without issue. For example - while I have no access to the cable modem, I am able to stream music from a wired desktop through a wireless laptop to a wireless receiver connected to my TV. I am also able to access the router's admin tools during my connectivity issues.

May 7, 2012I upgraded my Linksys from 160n router to 4200V2 router. I configured 3 wireless Linksys webcams and they work fine. After 24hrs they i cannnot connect the via HTTP and webcames IP addresses disapear from the DHCP client table. If reboot the webcames the it works fine for next 24hrs. I did not make any modification to any settings and the setting looks just like i had on the 160N router

My signal is decent (50%) but internet gets laggy (at some points unusable). My current router is a WRT54GS v4 with Tomato and signal output at 92 on a unused channel. I was intending on getting WRT54GS v2 to use as my router and the v4 to use as a bridge then plugging in the laptop directly into that. Could it be possible my router is going out or just plain doing to much? I have a BEFRS41 to do routing duties so the 54GS can stick to WiFi.

Aug 17, 2011I have two computers in the house both HP desktops, both run Windows XP SP3. The first one is connected to the internet by ethernet cable through a WRT160N router to a cable modem, the other is in another room ( about 20 feet away from the router with only one wall). The wired computer averages around 15-20mbps download speed while the wireless only gets about 7-9mbps. I've checked them both using Speakeasy.net and Speedtest.net the results are always about the same, the wireless has about half the download speed of the wired connection. They both have .95-.98 mbps upload speeds. When my old router (WRT54GS) finally gave up I bought the WRT160N which is an N router, I haven't upgraded the network adapter in the wireless computer to N yet. My question is should I lose this much speed through the wireless connection or do I need to change the settings on the router or the wireless adapter?

Sep 12, 2011Currently I have Verizon DSL and which supplied me with a Westell 7500 modem/wireless router. I am also connecting a Linksys WRT54GS (firmware Version: 7.2.08) to the Westell 7500.
When I connect via cable or wireless to Linksys WRT54GS I am not able to establish VPN connection. I get the error “Error 619: A connection to the remote computer could not be established. So the port used for this connection was closed”.
However, when I connect via cable or wireless to Westell 7500 I am able to connect to VPN.
I tried resetting the Linksys WRT54GS to factory settings and reconfigured but no success to VPN.
At work we have a Windows 2003 setup with VPN Role on it and on my laptop I am using the built in VPN connection within Windows 7.

Oct 20, 2012I have a WRT54GS V7 that I have been running for a few years now with no problems until today.My wife used the internet from her laptop through the day but this evening after she moved to the bedroom and booted up the laptop, she found there was no internet connection. I tried what I know in cases like these, unplugging the router or modem for brief periods of time to try and get things going again but to no avail. So I tried using the Easylink Advisor which basically suggested the same process.
At this point, my internet connection is coming in from the cable just fine. I have access on the desktop which is wired and works with no problems. The modem and router lights are both signaling that everything is fine but no wireless internet coming from the router.
Using the desktop I tried looking for some solutions and tried resetting the router. I ultimately called customer support but being out of warranty they wanted too much although she suggested that I needed to reconfigure the router since I had reset it. I followed the online instructions for reconfiguring but still have gotten nowhere.

May 8, 2012I have a Linksys WRT54GS (v5) router. I noticed that my firmware was outdated and tried to upgrade it tonight. During the upgrade progress, the browser reset the connection and now cannot access my router configuration pages.I did a hard reset. Then I did the 30-30-30 reset.
The reset worked but no matter what I do, I cannot navigate to any readable page within the router. I get the log in box and successfully log into the router. However, the configuration page(s) are all jumbled and devoid of useful information. It almost looks like a web page that needs flash to be enabled. Lots of colors and boxes but no text or links to other configuration pages
I know it's an old router but it has served me well. I would love to reinstall the old firmware (or new!) and copy my saved configuration file back to the router.Is there a way to access the configuration via a command line interface?
Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54gs Switch From Dsl To Comcast / Now No Internet Connection
Jan 5, 2011Hard wired network (15 workstations.) I had a dsl modem connected to my network switch and linksys wrt54gs router connected to that modem. All hard wired workstations had internet access AND there was a wireless internet connection. With any wifi device I could access the internet.I switched from dsl to comcast. All hard wired work stations still have internet. but when I plug my wireless router into the modem (comcast business IP gateway) there is no wireless internet connection. The hard wired workstations can still get online and there IS a wireless network, but it does not allow internet access (page cannot be found etc.)
Comcast says it absolutely should work. Linksys says it requires simple reconfig of router settings (reset router, clone mac address.) I have read knowledge base articles from linksys and followed each step. The lan ports of the modem are all working if I connect to them directly with a laptop and cable. I have reset router multiple times, cloned mac address, dhcp release/renew.
My physical connections are correct. In the router set up utility, I can see the mac adrdress and ip address but can't tell if the IP is from the modem or the router. Default gateway is always 192.168.1.1 in the router AND in any workstation ipconfig screen. Ip addresses are 192.168.1.xx in ipconfig at any workstation AND in the router set up status.
I cannot access internet via router even if plugged directly into it. It is as if the router is not getting the correct information from the modem. However, it worked perfectly with the DSL modem the day before we changed.My workstations are all hard wired and work. I simply want to have Wi-Fi also... for phones and laptops w wireless etc.
Internet Connection Crashes When Flatmate's Laptop Connects?
Dec 17, 2012I've had some trouble with this and I post here, because I ran into this topic which is almost the same as my problem.Recently I started renting out one of my rooms to this guy with a Windows laptop. Everything I have is Apple:- iMac (with Windows in dualboot)- Macbook (with Windows in dualboot)- iPhone iPad- Airport Extreme (that is connected to the modem/router from the ISP by cable to create its own, more stable, wireless network)I never had any trouble with this network, not when my Macbook is running Windows or when classmates come over to work on a project (some have Windows), but as soon as this guy moved in, the internet started acting weird.Example: The internet is working fine, but when my flatmate comes home and opens his laptop, the internet crashes. Any process that was already connected, continues to work fine (e.g. a downloading torrent-file), but any new "assignment" for the internet just creates an error in Chrome ("the page does not exist" or "the server took too long to respond" for example). At those times, I can't even connect to my router through 192.168.1.1, but the WiFi still works (I can stream videos over the network from iMac to iPad without a problem). After about 2 minutes, the internet is up again, only to repeat the above after about 10 minutes.
I now have denied his MAC-address access from our router, because it was impossible to do schoolwork or just basic browsing, but I would like to just give him access of course! (it's in the contract)I'm going to call my ISP tomorrow and ask what they think is wrong, but I'm 99% certain it's my new renter's laptop. He claims his computer is completely clean, but I'm suspecting there is some kind of process running that just clogs all DNS-requests (or am I saying something weird now?
New Dell Laptop Connects Then Loses Wireless Connection Within Seconds?
Jul 31, 2011Our entire office runs on wireless connections (laptops, printers, desktops, etc) and we have little to no connectivity issues considering. However, we just purchased a new dell laptop. the laptop connected but within 5 seconds immediate loses the connection and reconnects, disconnects, etc.. This is continuous. All other devices, 2 other never-before connected laptops and a tablet have all sucessfully connected without issues...only this new dell laptop does it. The laptop connects and stays connected to all other wifi connections we have tried it with (other corporate wifi and home wifi's). Dell has replaced the wireless card to confirm there was not issue with that (which I was confident there wasn't). Our IT contact suggests buying a new $500 router, but that is a little hard for me to accept seeing that only 1 device is having difficulties (his other reason for this was his concern that he couldn't access something like the router's management tool, or something like that). New Laptop is running W7 OS..
