I have my computer connected to the router by ethernet, so I get maximum speeds whilst browsing and/or downloading. I bought a wireless card however, as I would like to connect my Squeezebox to the server on my computer wirelessly. My problem is, would there be a way to 'tell' the computer to use the ethernet connection for browsing, but keep the wireless online so the squeezebox can connect to it, or is this impossible?
I administer a wired SOHO network at a business I own, which is nothing more than a XP Pro machine which doubles as a file server. Typically, there are only 3 or 4 work stations in use at any given time, with 3 printers being shared. Backups are done after hours through portable USB. I have a home quality Netgear router behind a cable modem, and unfortunately need to use two 8-port unmanaged switches due to limited cabling between the workstations and the server. Said switches/cabling could prove to be the culprit, except that it used to work nicely.
A few months ago, while browsing the shared folders where the bulk of the approximately 180 Gigs worth of largely graphics files...(browsing from ANY of the terminals)...I began to be aware of random delays of up to 30 seconds or more. It seemed to be a sudden change, but has grown worse over time.
The files in question typically reside under several subdirectories, ie My Network Places/GID/Designs/Stan/Photoshop Files/TeeShirts... and browsing to the actual goodies progresses nicely until the VERY LAST directory, then WHAMMO.....XP flashlight goes back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.....you might wait half a minute before seeing the actual filenames in the window.
Its exasperating, and can randomly happen even if I'm the only person in the building, and the "server" seemingly has nothing else required of it.
I have a new Linksys 1500 router which I am using to replace an older WRT54GS. They are connected to a wired router (BEFSR81) to allow a wireless network to work in conjunction with my wired one. The WRT54GS ran as an access point. The 1500 does not seem to have that option. I have successfully been able to set up the new router and use it with laptops, ipads, etc. Where I’m running into problems is with my Squeezebox. Although I can see the network and enter a passcode into the Squeezebox, it never connects (the light on the Squeezebox is green (acquiring IP address from network). It never gets beyond this point. I have tried: Disabling securityChanging mode from mixed to various optionsDisabling firewallsNothing seems to work
I've tried every combination with two different Squeezebox Radios to connect via WiFi to my E4200 with no luck. I have other Squeezebox devices that work fine, but the Radio just won't go.
On my laptop I have intermittant problems printing to my wireless printer due to slow speeds and timiming out, also loading online pages seems very slow.I have 2 of these fujitsu laptops and they both behave roughly the same.
Intel Pro/wireless 3945ABG driver 10.1.1.7
I have not updated it, and not sure if it should come from fujitsu or intel anyway setting on network adapter:power management - default - based on computer preformance (I tried changing to highest-did not work)transmit power - default- highest power setting (cannot change for some reason)this is from this laptop.
wired speed is 13M down 0.81 up, wirelss varies from 1-1.7M 0.78 -0.8 up
I have a 15M package.I downloaded Xirrus, attaching the screenshot. My network is highlighted.here are some of what I can find:

I have CUWN, WLC 5508 is installed and APs are 1142. Network is working fine but I am facing the problem with Android phone which are not browsing for internet.
Android phones connectes with wi-fi, it takes IP from DHCP well, which is pingable from any node of network. even I got be GUI of WLC on Android, but when it goes to browes for internet the message displayed " Page cannot be disply".
In same scenario if configure the Public IP on Android Phone (Via DHCP or Static) then it runs the internet smoothly.
I've noticed something interesting, after having been disconnected from the WLAN in less than 1 minute in my first experience with this Linksys' Modem Router: The signal strength was poor when browsing the Wireless LAN. I was at home, in a room just beside the one where the router was placed at.So, I took a look at connection status, and saw the signal strength was Medium - Weak: something around 30% and 55% You could think it was due to mirrors, the kind of walls between the rooms, and everything else, but I instantly remembered when browsing WLAN from the same place but not with the same router, the signal was strong (100%)...but I let it alone In the other day, while browsing WLAN, I've noticed another thing, this time visible: "TX power" I've got in connection status was 39mW, while I was almost sure it should be 100mW, based on my past WLAN connections Then, today I decided to take a look more deeply in that, and unboxed my Linksys' WRT54G to test. The test was carried on consisting in both Wireless routers placed in the same room, and a solid wall was between me and the routers.I could connect to the two WLANs, but the status of connections were different.
WAG120N:
WRT54G:
As you can see, when connecting to WRT54G , signal reached 100% at some point, whereas in WAG120N , such a mark wasn't possible.Of course, the signal strength was unstable in both routers, but the average level in WRT54G WLAN was greater, being most of time over 90%, and never below 80%.In WAG120N WLAN, average was 82%, and lowest level was 55%.When I went to the room where the routers were at, and right in front of them, no need to say both reached 100%, but as you can see, in WAG120n's case, TX power was still 39mw: I believe it's a firmware fault, once all other routers I've connected to always showed TX power as being 100mW.It shoundn't be related to the general hardware, as Cisco products are high-quality ones.
I am sharign my bandwidth with my neighbour and would like to keep a tab on what he is downloading, and then limit the speeds he gets while using my 4Mbps line. He's accessign using a WIFI L:AN card. Can I do this usign WRT160Nv2? Maybe any third-party.
I get the following error whne enabling 802.11a network on a AIR-WLC2106-K9. Country is set to ID (Indonesia),>config 802.11a enable network802.11a network not supported for this Country CodeYet, on a AIR-CT2504-K9, set to same country code there is no problem. Is this a WLC model or version issue? WLC2106 is on version 6.0.199.4 while the CT2504 is 7.0.220.0
Last week I purchased the E4200 and for simplicity, I configured it with basic settings using Cisco Connect. Today, I went into the web interface. The only thing I did was review settings and get the Routers PIN (it appears that Intel Chipset cards on Windows requires this PIN?) Close the browser (did not save any settings) and now I am completely locked out of the device. Cannot connect does not accept the wireless password. I hard reset the device, ran through the wizard. Everything was working again. Launch the browser and connected to the device closing window and balm?
Everything in our small network worked until today when I had to manually reset the router. We run a application through a provider which requires that we view it from the same IP address for access. We have a statis IP assigned by our ISP solely for this purpose. For simplicity, lets us 23.11.23.176 as the statis assigned by our ISP and 23.11.23.175 as the gateway also assigned by our ISP. The application we need to browse requires that we use the 23.11.23.175 address else it is blocked from viewing. When we hard line into the modem, we are able to browse it fine. When I connect the CISCO router and do it wirelessly, it shows our address as 23.11.23.176 what are the required steps in order to set the CISCO router to use the Gateway address as the browsing IP for computers connected to it. We had set it up about a year ago, and i completely forgot how.
I got ADSL 2.0Mbps internet service, which it's supposed to be fast however my browsing speed is very slow, and my download speed very good and i have this problem with more than one pc and using different OS ( Windows 7 & ubuntu[linux]) so its not a virus issue or a LAN drive issue , and i tried to use different DNS but nothing change.
I'd like to register another account in a forum to comment anonymously so I need a different IP address for browsing.I remember that I had been trying this long time before but it was not easy to make it. Using proxy website is useless because the speed is very very slow. Is there any way to painlessly, easily change IP to browse websites?
I am having trouble loading pages in a browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, makes no difference). My network is on a 101.140.228.x ip scheme because that's what the wireless network is set too and we can't change that. (It's built into the hub and the manufacturer doesn't let us change it. The computer I am having trouble with is cabled into a Netgear Access Point in client mode. The Access Point is working basically like an oversized network card to pick up the wireless network across the field with the 101.140.x.x ip.
I aquired an 1841 recently from work. I am trying to use it as my home router. I have set it up with the very basics (dhcp wan, dhcp pool for lan, nat). It is grabbing an address from Comcast. It works, ran speedtest and the speed looks fine at 25/3 or so.
The problem is when I am surfing the net. I'll go to a site like Youtube. It will take forever to load the site, never play the video. I have tried other sites, Autoblog, Break, etc. It seems like anything with a lot of multimedia. If I go to MSN, the first time it will take about 10 seconds to load all the pictures, after that it is instant (probably cached).
Then, if I wait a few minutes, go back to the same site, sometimes it'll be just as slow, sometimes it'll work fine. I have checked a few of the cisco logs and it doesn't show any drops or errors that I can see. If I run a constant ping to something like google.com while it is slow loading, the response time remains normal around 25ms.
I set up my other d-link home router and it works fine with all sites, same speeds from speedtest. I tried plugging a computer directly into the Cisco and same slowness issues.
I have an 1841 running Advanced Security IOS (12.4(25) I think, have to check when I get home) that I'm using to learn about CBAC and IOS' firewall functionality. Its external interface is connected to my Windstream DSL modem in bridge mode, and the router is doing the PPPoE authentication. It's also doing NAT for my internal network, and is acting as a firewall using CBAC inspect statements and ACLs.
Everything is working at at least a baseline level: the DSL authenticates and connects, and machines on the inside can browse the web. The problem is that browsing to some sites is slow or times out. Not all sites, just some. Latency seems to be okay when doing pings. The problem seems to happen with https connections, but again, not all of them. Gmail works fine (I have it set to always use https), while my bank and credit card sites either time out or take minutes to load.
I have an "inspect https" line in my config, and have allowed https through my outbound ACL.
I'm looking for next steps for troubleshooting this. I've check CPU utilization and it's very low; not sure what else it could be. I only have a few inspect statements, for the common stuff: tcp, udp, icmp, pop3, imap, dns, tftp, ftp, and ntp.
I am trying to troubleshoot an issue on our network that is resulting in extremely slow internet browsing. I have found out that the first request in a ping always timesout. Also, having the same issue with running a tracert. I have included some screenshots
About two days ago my laptop started having problems with video playback on flash websites and pixelation/off-color images on every site I go to. The videos will be playing and then suddenly will start "tiling" and glitching around wile images will either not show up, show only half of the image, show up half "normal" and half pixelated, or be completely pixelated and blocky. This only started happening just recently and has never happened before.
i recently had a RAID Z setup on Solaris 10 (oracle) which worked fine until my motherboard gave out (computer would boot fine and work OK and then shut down ~ 20 min later). So I replaced the motherboard (ASUS E35M1-I Fusion AMD E-350 APU) but solaris would not install so I put in OPENINDIANA (build 151). I installed Samba and used my old smb.conf file (below). I can view the share from my win 7 machine, and the transfer speeds look good (I can stream an HD movie fine). The problem is that for browsing pictures every 10 pictures or so the viewer or browser stalls for 30 sec - 1 min before it is able to load the next picture. It also happens when I browse to different directories.

[code] after installing the wirless driver, I can see my network but it can't obtain an IP. So I issue it a static IP, and it says I am connected and have internet access. But when i open up IE, doesn't work. Tried Resetting IE, and that didn't work. [code]
Problems on RV016 the firmware, Firmware Version : v4.2.1.02 (Jan 18 2012 14:10:55) on port PPPoE mode. It makes the dial, but not Web browsing correctly. The solution was to return the old version of firmware.
My computer is a inspiron 17r and is only a month old. for the last week or 2, it has been disconnecting from the internet while at home. The computer says it has an internet connection and is discoverable on the LAN, but will not connect to the internet for browsing, email or any other internet activity. I can restore the internet by rebooting the computer, or by rebooting the router and modem, or by deleting the network and re-establishing it through the network sharing center. Any of these will work, but somewhere between 1 minute and several hours, I will again lose the internet. I have several other computers and devices and none of them lose the internet so I know the router and the modem are fine. This also ONLY happens at home. I take the computer to work and connect with no problems and stay connected for 9 or 10 hours.
I have looked for answers and have tried ip release and winsock resets. these also work for a period of time but eventually fail as well.
in permenantly removing the "private browsing" option in the new Mozilla FireFox internet. I use Windows Vista for home computer and obviously Mozilla FireFox for internet usage. I am not good with too many computer terms, the more basic the better. I've seen other places discuss how to remove it completely, have it not be an option, from Internet Explorer but not Mozilla. I have children in the home that I don't want to have access to it. Just easier for our situation to not have it.
I want to block everyone from seeing each other on the LAN. So when someone goes to network neighborhood they can't see no one else on EXCEPT for the pritner or so. I want to do this using a Cisco 1841 router. How can I do this?
Every time I connect my router, I can't use the internet browsers. But I can see there's a internet connection. Bu once in a while even with just a modem connected to my computer I can't use the browsers. The signal from the router to my Xbox 360 works but sometimes it says there's DNS Error or IP Address Error causing my Nat to be strict. Once in a while, I can access my router's page when it's connected. [code]
I installed Ad-Aware Pro 30 day trial. I enabled safe browsing but it doesn't allow me to open some websites. Ok, perhaps thats the point of safe-browsing but I need to enter those sites. So, I decided to disable it, but I don't know how. I clicked "off" on Ad-Aware's "Home" window, but the sites still not working. Theres a possibility that the websites I'm trying to enter are not going to work after I disable safe-browsing because there's something wrong with internet(I'll open another topic for that). But still, I'd like to see Firefox's "cannot found" window, not Ad-Aware's.
Yesterday I picked up a laptop of a friend of mine which had some problems with the Internet connectivity. Turns out, Internet only works when booted in Safe Mode, however, it does ping in Normal Mode so there is connectivity. Tried IE and Firefox, both do not work in Normal Mode and do work in Safe Mode. MSN Messenger won't work in Normal Mode either. After carefully checking the Windows event logs, it looks like some services are not booted in normal mode.I have executed the following steps and measures in order for me to see if I would be able to fix the problem myself.
1) Boot in Normal Mode: - Checked the settings of the adapter, no exclamation marks or other problems. - Installed Revo Uninstaller Pro > Uninstalled all present antivirus program - Installed Microsoft Security Essentials - Ran a Full scan with Microsoft Securty Essentials; 1 virus > removed (just a virus which gives pop-ups) - Installed CC Cleaner, cleaned the whole system - Shut off all antivirus programs, IE and Firefox still not working.
2) Looked for extra information:cmd > Ipconfig/all Normal Mode [code]
So,I'm living in a university campus and I've got an internet connection via a proxy server. The thing is,when ever I plug in the network cable,my PC recognizes the network, but the little network tray says "No internet access". But the curious thing is that the internet actualy works. My browser works,I can access any website (well, except the restricted ones via proxy) but it works just like any other internet connection in the campus. But,recently I've got my hands on a VPN account to have access to things that my proxy wouldn't allow me (torrents for example). But,probably because of that "No internet access" problem, when ever I try to make that VPN account,it tells me that I need to connect to the internet first. I already am,but my PC still keeps requiring an internet connection.I can't manualy connect to it,since I don't have the ISP data required. I've only got my VPN account data (VPN username and password).
This is kind of annoying, since this only happens to me,my other room mates don't have this problem, they plug in their cables, their network adapters recognize both the network and the internet access. Only mine says "No internet access" but the internet works fine.My operating system is genuine, when ever I go home and connect to my home network this problem doesn't ocure anymore, this only happens when I connect to my university's internet connection.I've tried reinstalling my operating system.Still no results.I'll attach a printscreen so you could see exactly what I mean.
