View 1 RepliesI have an XPS 8100 and have been very satisfied for the most part, but have had a persistent problem with the wireless card, the Atheros DW1525 WLAN PCIe Card. The wireless signal swings wildly between 3 bars and 5 bars - and the computer is close to the router. The card only weakly picks up other signals and it is often weak and spotty. I compared with my Dell Inspiron 13 (which has an Intel wireless N card), and it is literally 5x as fast on speed tests, picks up a lot of other signals, and is always 5 bars.
I tried to reinstall the Atheros drivers from the Dell support site, and that seemed to do the trick for a while.... the card was picking up as many signals as my notebook and at the same strength and speed. But after a Windows Update, the problem returned. I tried to reinstall the drivers again but got blue screen errors when I attempted to install Atheros' drivers... I spoke to a Dell tech, did a full factory image restore, and while I'm not getting blue screens now, the signal continues to be weak and spotty. I have Windows 7 64 bit..
We have currently LMS 3.2 installed. We know have some new switches C2960-48PST-L that are not supported in CiscoView and Common Services. When trying an update in Software Center | Device Update, we receive an error message:Error while downloading package information from Cisco.com for the selected products. See the C:/PROGRA~1/CSCOpx/log/psu.log file for details.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am on my second 3520 Laptop (first one purchsed in November 2012, returned last week) and the same problem is happening. This is that after every Windows Update I am unable to connect to the Internet. Wi-Fi checks out and used by other PC's in the house, I thought I'd cured it recently by being able to go in and sign into Mcafee (22/1) then an update on 23/1 and BAM! No Internet, no way can I get into McAfee to sign in, and the only options are restore to 21/1 (did that still no joy) or back to Factory (23/12/12) and re-install Office 2010 AGAIN! I have spent over £10 in calling the Dell Premium line, I have emailed the Support Director who arranged the laptop swap and still have this problem. I have posted it on Windows 8 forums, other forums I can find, Googled 'No Internet after Windows8 updates' 'till the cows come home, have gone back to Factory about 10 times over the 2 machines, tried to create Restore points myself but they disappear after the updates, all very frustrating. I 'could' get a refund but this is the 6th Dell machine we've had and I like the support. This machine, like 2 others (1 on Vista about to be upgraded to Win7 the other just upgraded) this new one will be used in a church based Debt Advice charity so eventually will be in a cupboard and used every Wednesday by an admin volunteer. It will be a terrible pain to have this trouble as she's not that young nor a PC expert so I need a seamless, invisible solution that will work without a hitch like all updates in XP, Vista and Win7.

Often it says my signal is good or excellent and I still have problems. I'm pretty sure its not just my laptop because when I am home where we have our own network and my connection is great there. I have looked around on the internet for solutions and have not really found anything. All solutions say to do something to the router and I do not have access to it. I saw these things called usb wireless network adapters. Would they be able to increase my wifi connection?

The users aren't doing anything this is all occuring automcatically, I think it's the WLC 5508 controller not the ISE.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I have a netgear wireless router that my computer uses to access internet, then i have ethernet cable running from that netgear into my room to a linksys befsr41 router that I disabled DHCP to use as a switch. I have the ethernet cable going into the 4th slot and my xbox going into the 1st. I got it working however...and before i say this let me tell you, before introducing the linksys as the switch everything was working fine, both wireless to my computer and wired into my xbox straight from the Netgear. Ok back to my issue, while watching netflix on my xbox every 10 minutes or so i will get disconnected from the network on both my computer [wireless to netgear] and xbox wired to netgear through linksys. I was wondering if this could maybe be some kind of IP Address issue.

Having just updated the firmware I was surprised that it overwrote my configuration (WAN LAN & WiFi) settings. Is this normal for TP-Link firmware updates ?
Will this router ever see a firmware update so that we can have some additional functionality? The version of Twonky Media server that was bundled with this router was old to begin with, and now we are stuck with it? I tried the E4200 but it just kept spinning my drive that's parked in a ThermalTake BlackX, at least the 3000 doesn't do that, but when can we expect some new firmware, it's been 8 months. I used to love Linksys, but with this kind of support I may have to move to a different brand, and I bet I am not alone. it doesn't break the E3000 like you broke the 4200.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got a new HD Smart TV and trying to stream Netflix and Youtube. Netflix works decent most of the time, buffering occasionally but Youtube buffers all the time and is not watchable. Using a Netgear WGT624 b/g router located some 60 feet away a half floor upstairs. Internet downstream speed is about 5.5 Mbps on the hard wired main computer and laptops show the same speed when connected wirelessly. Wireless Network Connection Status on a laptop close to the TV show "Very Good to Good" signal strength and Speed at 11 Mbps. Why is the Yotube connection so poor on the TV? The Netflix could be better too. Laptop by the TV streams Neflix and Yotube fine but of course that is not HD. Do I need an upgraded router or powerline network adapter?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo recently I've gotten a new laptop, but now when I try to connect to out wireless internet from my room it has an extremely weak signal and will constantly suffer from constant disconnects and spikes in latency. Occasionally it causes web pages to load incorrectly and makes games unplayable when they were fine before and videos will take a long time to load. The new laptop has a different network adapter ( Intel Centrino Advanced-M 6235 ) and has Windows 8 installed instead of Windows 7 like my old laptop had. The problem happened both when using my router at my house and one at my friend's house which uses an entirely different router. The problem seems with my laptop and not specific to any one router. When trying to ping google.com it will usually stay at around 31ms but will occaisonally jump to around something much higher like 300ms or so for a few pings then go back to normal. If trying to do something like playing a game then it can start shooting all the way up to over 1000-2000 and will sometimes just have the request time out. [code]
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have 2 routers the first is plugged into the telephone line and has a power-line adapter plugged into it the second router which is downstairs is just to extend the range, unfortunately I have a very poor connection (wireless) and internet often drops out. I want to reset the power-line adapter but but will this mean that the connection will be lost from the second router and it is just my computer that is wrong? My trouble is that I don't think the power-line adapter is working but it might be or... its just that the they both connect between each other wirelessly? Or do they both connect to each other wirelessly? both connections from each router are pretty poor. I have updated my wireless card as well. I am not resetting the power line adapter until I know the internet is going to be fine afterwards as my Dad needs it for his work
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have purchased two WAP200 units to act as access point and repeater. AP and repeater functionality works fine.
The issue I am having is extremely poor signal from both units. Even when very close to the WAP200, I get poor signal quality. The range before loosing connection is only a few feet.
I'm using the antennas that came with the box and have tried multiple placements both in my house and in other locations. I have also tried changing several of the configurations without any effect on the signal strength. Older D-link and Linksys routers provide good reception to most of my house from the same location.
