Internet Drops / Recent Switch Installed To Setup?

Jul 23, 2011

So I have a netgear wireless router that my computer uses to access internet, then i have ethernet cable running from that netgear into my room to a linksys befsr41 router that I disabled DHCP to use as a switch. I have the ethernet cable going into the 4th slot and my xbox going into the 1st. I got it working however...and before i say this let me tell you, before introducing the linksys as the switch everything was working fine, both wireless to my computer and wired into my xbox straight from the Netgear. Ok back to my issue, while watching netflix on my xbox every 10 minutes or so i will get disconnected from the network on both my computer [wireless to netgear] and xbox wired to netgear through linksys. I was wondering if this could maybe be some kind of IP Address issue.

Cisco Switches :: Connection To SGE2000 Managed Switch Web Interface Lost

Apr 19, 2012

We have a standalone Cisco SGE 2000.

We lost connectivity to the web user interface - it no longer responds on the configured IP address. From the manual we see that by default the switch get its IP address via DHCP - but we find no record of any ip address assigned to this switch. Is there a IP address that this unit defaults to when DHCP is not available? Also - what is the best way to connect to the console using Windows 7?

SG300-10MP / Fiber From Home Office Switch To Equipment Rack?

Nov 10, 2011

I just installed a 10 port Cisco SG300-10MP in my office, 9 of the ports are already in use. Connected to it are

PC
Laptop
Notebook
WIFI AP
B&W laser printer
Color inkjet printer
IP camera
Squeezebox SB3

Cat5e connection to basement HP 1810G-24 switch All of these devices are connected via a single Cat5e cable that was installed when the house was built. I had to re-terminate both ends of it when I moved in because the existing terminations were done very poorly. I have no idea how or where the cable is routed, nor what the quality of this Cat5e cable is. It did pass a test using my cable tester.

This single Cat5e is connected to my main HP switch in the basement equipment rack. Both of these switches have mini-GBIC ports that can utilize SFP transceivers and fiber. I priced out 2 MGBSX1 compatible modules along with a 30M multimode fiber patch 'cable' online at under $150. Although it would require at least a couple hours of work (including digging around in the attic and crawl space and drilling some holes), but running the fiber to the basement is very doable.

My question to my far more experienced forum members is if the performance gains would be worth the effort? My server is in the basement, and despite having an Intel GB NIC in my PC I am seeing read speeds of ~23MBs and writes of ~49MBs to/from my it. My server has teamed GB NICs (802.3ad LACP Layer 2) connected to trunked (LACP) ports on my HP switch.

Cisco WAN :: 3750 - Move Configuration From One To Another Switch?

May 20, 2013

im trying to move the config from an 3750 to 3750 PoE but without using the PoE options.I have allready download the config with tftp and upload it to the 3750 PoE. Now the new config is stored on the PoE switch but some of the old setting are still there. Not sure why, i think the config only overwrite the settings which are in the conf file and the setting which are not in the conf file but enabled on it will stay on the switch. After the upload of the config file I deleted all the config I do not need by hand. They are some settings i can't delete and I don't know why, this are the sittings:

1. each fastethernet port has this option: "no cdp enabled" this entry was no availble on the old switch, is the any possiblity to remove this entry?

2. the same for "no mls qos rewrite ip dscp"

3 and for this one "vlan internal allocation policy ascending"

Move From Patch Panel To Switch?

Mar 21, 2012

I currently have the following set up in my basement: Modem to 8 port router which has cables going into a patch panel which in turn provides internet access at 8 wall outlets throughout the house. My data/video streaming needs are expanding and I have had additional wiring pulled to the new locations. I would like to know if I can bypass the patch panel and go from the Modem to a 24 port switch to individual wall plates throughout the house.

Cisco Firewall :: Does ASA 5515-X Include Rails And Brackets

Mar 24, 2013

The datasheet contains the following regarding rails and brackets:

Cisco ASA 5512-X, 5515-X, 5525-X, 5545-X, 5555-X spare rail kit - ASA-RAILS=
Cisco ASA 5512-X, 5515-X, 5525-X brackets for rack mounting - ASA-BRACKETS=

The word spare seems to imply that it comes with a set of rails.  Does the ASA-5515-X come with rails and brackets, or must both of these be ordered?

Cisco :: WLC 5508 Most Recent Traps Duplications

Mar 26, 2013

I have recently noticed that in my WLC traps  I keep finding lots of Mac addresses that have many hits on joining but it's the same MAC ADDRESS.  Example Mac addresss'08:11:96:e4:1a:60,4Wed Mar 27 16:05:56 2013Client with MAC address 08:11:96:e4:1a:60 has joined profile corporate5Wed Mar 27 16:05:45 2013Client with MAC address 08:11:96:e4:1a:60 has joined profile corporate7Wed Mar 27 16:04:53 2013Client with MAC address 08:11:96:e4:1a:60 has joined profile corporate12Wed Mar 27 16:02:51 2013Client with MAC address 08:11:96:e4:1a:60 has joined profile corporate  This has like 20 hits in the traps section and when I check my ISE this is also reflected on the authentication aspect. This is starting to occur with many different client laptops, why does it keep re-authenticatiing into the profile joined? Is there a Time to Live TTL setting I can set so it doesn't poll so often? The users aren't doing anything this is all occuring automcatically, I think it's the WLC 5508 controller not the ISE.

Cisco :: WLC 5508 Recent Trap Logs?

Dec 3, 2012

I have a 5508  wireless lan controller we have two SSID configured Profile Name : Corporate and Guest When I go look at the Most Recent Traps all I see is Client with Mac address blah has joined your corporate, this goes on for sometime. But I am unable to see any of the Guest logs joining the network, I have since then grabbed my laptop and connected to the guest log. I still dont see any logs in Most Recent Traps for the Guest SSID WLAN configuration, I then blocked my Mac address and tried to connect again, No logs. I need to also montior the guest network is there some special tick box I need to apply for this to work? Once the guest is connected I can view them in the clients list but it never shows them on MOST RECENT TRAPS but I want to see the guests account connecting or failing to connect as we currently have a rogue device annoying me.

I use this oid to gather mac address: .1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3.1.1

This has worked on all of our cisco switches (3560,SG300, etc...). When an SG300-20 was updated to 1.2.7.76 the oid no longer exist.

In my 3750 stack switch there are more than 10 L3 vlans currently in use.In that only one vlan for example vlan 11 (we given up link directly to the nodes connected to that ports which is in vlan 11)losing connectivity for sometime and again connectivity restored.Except Vlan 11 all other vlans are working fine. Cisco Switches :: VLAN Membership Lost After Reboot SG300-20

Aug 31, 2012

I have two Cisco SG300-20 switches. Both of them are configured in L3 mode. They have several VLAN's configured.

When I reboot my switches some VLAN membership settings are lost! I have already saved the settings over and over before rebooting, and even tried to save it to the backup memory and so on. Say for example I have changed port 9 to 14 from VLAN 101 to VLAN 105. I save the configuration, reboot the switch. And then the changes are lost. This is a big problem, because servers and my iSCSI network loose connectivity. They already have the latest firmware. This issue was there three firmwares before.

This issue pop-ups when I have a power loss, or I need to reboot/shutdown them manually. It may be off-topic but I also have the feeling that the performance of the switches goes down during uptime. A reboot solves the performance issue. I don't have a performance benchmark, but I can notice it on the performance transfer rate between clients and servers.
