On my Gateway laptop there was a switch on the left side. It turned the internet access on or off. The switch broke off, and now I cannot access my wireless internet, I have to be corded. Can I turn off the switch within the computer so I can access my wi-fi?
In my campus they restricted our download speed to 30kbps by registering our laptop in gateway.example.com. It is so ridiculous to download in such a low speed.Even if pages are not opening.

I am having an issue bypassing a switch 3750G series. How i can bypass the old configuration in the switch.i have tried the CTRL+BREAK at startup but it wont work.
I just reinstalled my windows 7 OS and now my gateway laptop won't connect to the internet. In the network and sharing center there is a x between my computer and internet. I have a westell versalink model 327w and all the other devices in my house can connect except my laptop
I have an old Gateway W322 laptop running Windows XP Home Edition and it recently stopped being able to connect to the internet. It happened gradually, at first having connection problems off and on for a few hours, and eventually it would no longer connect at all. I tried using an ethernet cable to the modem and that didn't work. I also know it's not my modem because I have other computers in my house and they are connecting just fine.
I currently have the following set up in my basement: Modem to 8 port router which has cables going into a patch panel which in turn provides internet access at 8 wall outlets throughout the house. My data/video streaming needs are expanding and I have had additional wiring pulled to the new locations. I would like to know if I can bypass the patch panel and go from the Modem to a 24 port switch to individual wall plates throughout the house.
I'm unable to connect to the internet from my laptop. When I do a diagnostic test it tells me that the default gateway is not available. I've tried resetting it, resetting my IP address via command prompt, restarting the router, etc.
Have a problem with a laptop connecting to a Wireless Router. The laptop was working fine on the last router which was on an ADSL Network.. (not that that matters),When the new router (Virgin Media / Cable) was installed all other laptops where connecting to it without any probs, but not this one.The laptop in question still receives an IP address, Subnet mask and Gateway from the router - Vista says Local only, no internet access. It cannot ping anything else on the network either. When I do ping it comes back destination host unreachable.
My issue: I have installed a firewall within my network. Currently all my clients default gateway defaults to GW:192.168.1.1. I would like all my internet traffic to route to the firewall ip 192.168.1.30. My Primary switch ip is 192.168.1.10, which is a 3560G running 12.2(25)SEE2 IPBASE-M.
My main problem is, I do not have access to the gateway, so I am trying to route internet traffic from within my switch to the firewall. I have already tried Route-Map, but seems this version of the OS does not support. I have already tried Policy-Map, but same as above. I have also tried IP ROUT command, but it did not work either.
And remember, I would like to perform the routing from the switch, because I do not have access to the default gateway which is a router to perform forward internet traffic to the firewall.
My ISP is RDS (Romanian Data Systems) and if i have there cable connected directly to my laptop, i have download speed of 11 MB/s, but if i connect through a router my download speed is just 10% of that. I made a trace and saw that it took 11 points to reach google.com (when i'm connected directly) and 12 when i go through the router. They most certanly cut the band when the ping/trace has a difference of 1 point. They probably do this to preserve the band limits. How can i connect through a router and make the system think i'm connected directly ? So that i can have the same band that i pay for, not just 10% of it?My router is : TP-LINK 300M Wireless N Router Model No. TL-WR941ND . Now i know that in order to make this bypass i can install the Linux version of the router, but i don't know the steps in order to do that.
I am living on a boarding school and they have a filter set up so we cannot surf for porn and stuff... but the thing is that all other things are blocked and they want an url number make my school better for everyoneIts from a private server Molten WoW so i need them to unlock the Server oO
I'm looking for a way to configure Cisco ACE4710 loadbalancer to bypass traffic that is initiated from server side to Internet? Are there any way to configure this, so that the loadbalancer will not maintain session for this bypass traffic to maximize throughput?
I've been trying to connect to the internet all day. Every time it connects, but only with limited connectivity. I run troubleshooting, but it doesn't fix the problem. Sometimes it won't have anything to report back other times it says that the default gateway is unavailable. My laptop is the only device in our home that won't connect, so I don't think it's the router.I think the router is a cisco router, there is a cisco box mounted on the ceiling with a cord leading into it (I don't have access to any buttons though)I live in an apartment building with free internet, so I'm not sure who the provider is.
My dad was just diagnosed with Leukemia and as a business owner in the hospital, I am trying to set him up a connection to his work and email. I am currently trying to test this old computer out at our office to make sure everything will work before I take it up to his hospital room. The computer is a Gateway with a model number of 450ROG and I see a small panel in the back that reads "fitted with intel WM3B2100 802.11B Wireless Lan Card".
So here is what happened, it started two days ago. I use a wifi connection at work, it's an unsecure wifi and I don't know where it comes from. But I am able to get on here at work and do stuff... two days ago I tried and it let me on like normal, but then I couldn't get on websites, it said local access only... so I was like mmm that's odd and the little CD looking thing wasn't there it was just two computers on the bottom right hand corner of the screen. So I restarted after attempting a few times... same problem, finally after a while it let me online but it was very slow and kept kicking me off. When I would try to reconnect sometimes it wouldn't let me and it would give me the option to diagnose the problem or try a new network, I'd move around and finally get on.
I restored back to a day when it was working fine, I did a disc clean up, I used my CCleaner, I defragged my laptop. Still the same problem, my laptop is a Gateway computer running on Windows Vista... so today at first my wifi wouldn't work unless I was standing and holding it... which I found the higher in the air the better it stays connected it seems sometimes.I chatted with gateway and they gave me a few links to download which failed to download once they got to like 30% or so, so I am all out of options I downloaded the wifi link here Download free driver for notebook Gateway ML3109 (Windows 7, XP, Vista) - DriverPack Solutio since that is my laptop
I cannot communicate with my DNS. I have a gateway laptop, windows vista . my error message says network pinged the remote host but did not receive a respond.
I'm having trouble keeping my lenovo laptop (running windows 8) connected to the internet. I have been able to connect successfully to multiple wireless networks and access the internet until I tried to connect to the new network.Initially everything is OK - I can connect to the network and access the internet. However after a short period of time (anywhere from a few seconds to 20 minutes) the network connection will change to limited, without internet access. If I simply disconnect and reconnect to the network the internet will immediately be working again (at least for a few seconds/minutes)alternatively, if I run the troubleshooter, I always get the message that the default gateway is not available, which has been fixed by resetting the wi-fi adapter.
I am having issues on my Toshiba laptop... that started late March for about five days then went back to the way it should be. Then it acted up again. The wireless keeps going out, just on mine and my cousin (hers is a compaq along with the other cousin but the other cousin, doesn't have an issue... just me and this little cousin and I don't know why.Its been now happening for a few days. Then I notice it work at night...could it be possible hack?

he has the same problem "default gateway is not available" on his Acer laptop with Windows 7, so we were psyched to find this problem posted - and today even (weird?). However, we tried resetting the : netsh winsock reset catalog etc and rebooted but still no internet access.
I'm really not clear about default-gateway on switch command, not the function but how its works.i have 1 multilayer switch (MLS 1) that have 2 vlan within it, vlan 2 and 100. on vlan 2 i assign ip address of 192.168.1.1 and on vlan 100 is 172.16.1.254. both vlans are up. then under that multilayer switch i added 2 more MLS (MLS 2 and MLS 3), and the links of MLS 2 and 3 to MLS 1 are trunking. and both MLS 2 and 3 have a same vlan with MLS 1. that i assign an ip address on vlan 2 in MLS 2 192.168.1.2 and i set default gateway 192.168.1.1, and i do the same to MLS 3 but the ip address of vlan 2 is 192.168.1.3i already setup the routing protocol on MLS 1 so that vlan 2 could contact vlan 100. but the fact it doesnt work at all, both MLS 2 and 3 cannot contact vlan 100 eventhough that are already have default-gateway setup, is there anything wrong with the configuration ??
I have two routers (set up in two countries). I am using PPPOE to connect between the two routers. I use a laptop connected to my home network using router 1 to access the internet using router 2. i cannot set this up. I use Dlink routers. I tried giving the "default gateway" as router 2's IP address.
Okay, so our old computer took a dump & our friend rebuilt us a new one and he threw in a new router to go with it. Its a D-Link router, which is directly connected to our desktop. However, upon completion of a new desk installment, we put the router into the cabinet and my gateway laptop immediately stopped being able to connect to the internet or the router at all.
1) The router is connected to the internet and broadcasting.
2) I've reset and refreshed the router and my window of available networks on my laptop, which did not work.
3) I've pulled it out of the cabinet, which also had no affect.
4) I did a manual search for the router, and it says the network already exists and asks if i would like to connect and upon agreeing to this, it returns me to the page of available networks, which does not include my router.
My gateway vista m-6750 laptop will not connect with wifi. Why is this. I used the operating disk that came sigh the system and nothing. I aso used the two restore CDs that gateway sent me and still no wifi. It won't connect at the free wifi hotspots. I even have At&t wifi service for $19.99 and still no wifi.
this model does not have a button and the fn key combo has no effect. The adaptor shows fine in device manager. How can I turn the wireless back on? I had this problem once before but can't remember how to turn it on.It seems like a box popped up asking if I wanted to restart the wireless.
I have a Gateway MX6124 laptop. I used the System Recover disk that came with the machine. After a complete reinstall (twice), the wireless feature is not found. There is an idicator light that goes on and off when using the F2 key.
There is no Windows Mobility Center choice from the start menu. Needless to say, there is no wireless icon to access and trouble shoot. It's like the wireless is turned off even though the blue light is on.
My Gateway laptop has stopped sensing wireless signal. It was working just fine a few hours ago, then after I pulled it out of hibernate it stopped sensing the signal. I have switched the button off and on at least 3 times, tried restarting and turning off and starting. Have also tried the Fn-F2 a number of times but still no luck.
I have a Gateway MX6124 laptop. I used the Syetem Recovery disk that came with it to reinstall the opperating system. It was running slow and I just wanted a fresh start. The wiresless connection was working fine. Now ... even though I have reinstalled the os twice, there is no wireless to be found. I do have an indicator light that says it's on. There is no Windows Mobility Center available in the Start menu All Programs.
Have a new Gateway laptop running W8. I have to use Windows diagnostics in Sharing centre to reset the connection although it looks like it is still up.( page cannot be displayed ). Once reset and fixe all is ok until pc goes into sleep mode, then I have to reset again.
