I'm at work, there is a guest wireless network for us, I can connect with my phone so the network is up. I was able to connect normally to my home network last night, not sure why I can't connect here. Running win 7 home premium.

I am running Windows Vista Home Basic. I have disabled IPv6, tried setting static IP etc but so far not getting any results. The adapter is an abit AirPace. The connection works with an ethernet cable.

All I need to do to get internet is plug the ethernet cord from the port on the wall to my laptop. But I really need wireless internet. I bought a netgear router and plugged the ethernet cord into it, but the router doesn't seem to detect the internet, even though if I plug that same cord into my laptop the internet works instantly.

Feb 11, 2011I've been having strange problems since I got my DIR 655. Set it up, run through factory wizards, and everything works great for a little while. Maybe week, or as soon as a few minutes I'll lose internet connectivity over wifi. Connection is 100% to the router. I can still log into the router via, but not get out of it to the net. If I plug in my pc via the wired ports everything is still great. Factory reset, and set it up again and It might bee good for a little while. Occasionally I'll get a warning on my PC that there is an IP address conflict when its been on for a long time. I've gone back to my WRT-54g since it still works perfectly. I just want my N bandwidth back. I've gone through and toggled just about every setting that I can think of. Advanced DNS is off.

I can also connect to the WiFi on my laptop, but the Internet does not work. My homepage will come up but I can't go to any other sites. Jun 26, 2012I'm part of a Tech Support department of 50 located along the Gulf Coast. In years past we have found hurricanes and other disasters may have forced Engineers to work from home or out of hotel rooms for several weeks. Since that time we are now using VoIP phones that require a power over Ethernet (PoE) LAN connection. Along with the phone we already have an external power brick that we can take home that supplies the PoE LAN connection. However, that requires that you have access to the router so you can run a physical cable from the router to the power brick.
That's fine when you are at your own house and have access to your own router. But in the case of a hotel, you can't run a cable to the router. Many hotels have gone to wireless only and don't have a physical LAN jack to plug into. So I've been looking at something like the Netgear WNCE3001 Dual-Band Internet Adapter. That will supply a physical LAN connection from WiFi only. But it does not have PoE. So now if we are going to work from a hotel room, we need the VoIp phone, the power brick and the WiFi Internet adapter. 3 seperate items to lug around.
Is there such a device that would allow you to pickup a WiFi signal in a hotel room and has a physical LAN jack that is also capable of PoE? I could at least lose the power brick then.
