View 1 RepliesI'm trying to get an MBR1000 Cradlepoint 4G router working, but every time I plug the 4G aircard in, the router constantly resets itself about every 10 seconds or so. If I take the aircard out, the router is fine (of course doesn't have internet connection), and I can plug the card into a PC and it works fine. I talked to Verizon, and they told me that the air card that we DID have wouldn't work with a router, so they exchanged it and gave us a newer one. The 4G card is the Pantech UML290. I've tried everything I can think of, including updating the firmware on the router (and the router's 4G firmware), I've reset the router to default settings in case a setting got messed up.The guy at Verizon told me that I should basically be able to plug it in and have it work.

I forgot my wpa key, also my default password Is not "admin" I'm pretty sure I changed it after I got my router.
I added a VOIP fax line to my network and in doing so, was forced to reset my router, as it would not go on-line. Now the printers are all off line and I can not get them back online. I followed instructions within admin and it did not work. My network is a 2 computer network. My computer acts as server and then one other computer.

we hadn't have the WEP key on our Linksys wireless router, so we decided, about a month ago, that it was a good idea to lock our wireless connection. So we did. For a couple of weeks, everything worked just fine. But then we bought a new printer, which happened to be a wireless network printer, and in the process of installing it, we mistook the reset button (I think) on the router for some other button and ended up resetting the router. When we did that, we undid WEP key, thereby unlocking the router. Then, we locked the router again, at which point one of our computers--which happens to be mine--ended up not working. All other computers and phones and iPads work just fine, but this one laptop of mine just doesn't work (with respect to wireless internet connections, of course).
- pressing the reset button on the router again. It kind of works. The internet works for about five or ten minutes (which is unbearably annoying because I have to reconnect it every five minutes), but my computer somehow disconnects itself from the internet connection. Also, although the internet technically "works," the wireless network icon thing on the bottom right of the screen has an "X" on it, which I thought meant the internet is not working, but it apparently doesn't, because my internet is working now. And, if I click the icon, it says that I'm not connected, but, again, the internet works. (for about 5~10 minutes, if I unlock the router)
- changing the internet protocol information (I don't think it does anything, but.)
- changing the wireless internet connection property to WPA, WPA-PSK... everything.
*All computers in the house have wireless internet connections but mine.
*When I reset the router, the internet works, although the computer says it isn't connected, and it disconnects itself every 5 or 10 minutes.
I usually get a solid speed of 2.3MBss yet today I am getting only 500kb/s I have reset my router 3 times, and my computer twice. Why is it happening?
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot a Belkin wireless modem router some 18 monthes ago, and after a bit of a struggle managed to set it up. It worked fine, aside from the odd depower repower. For some reason, it just stopped working yesterday. I initially checked all my cabling etc and everything seems fine. I next tried resetting my modem/router to factory settings. When I tried to install the Belkin software I fell at the first hurdle with a message saying "The setup assistant is not able to connect to the router". After googling my issue, I followed others advice and running the cmd setting and typing in "ipconfig" only to find that my media state was disconnected.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI purchased a new WAG160N router a few months ago and recently I have been having major problems with connectivity. The problem is that it resets itself at seemingly random times. I see it happening. The red power light starts flashing red and then the other lights slowly turn green as it re-establishes connection to the internet.
This is becoming extremley frustrating as I do online gaming with my XBOX 360.I use wired connections using ethernet cables. One to my laptop. And one to my XBOX 360.I have contacted my ISP who have done line checks and I have had an engineer look at my line and all is good. I have also replaced all cables to/from the router including phone cords and ethernet cords. EVERYTHING is new.I recall one incident in which my internet was down and I just couldnt get connection AT ALL. I rang my ISP and they got me to log into my modem settings. The settings were all altered for some reason and I have no idea why. When they told me to enter the details in the settings the internet worked immediatley.
My roommate and I recently got a WRT120N to replace an older Linksys router that was exhibiting the same problems with less frequency. Indeed, the entire reason we got the new router was to fix these problems. Alas, they have become worse.Anyways, what's happening is that the router constantly resets itself. It does this every 20 minutes to an hour and doesn't seem to be related to how much traffic it's dealing with. It's not just the internet going down, it's the entire network, and not even just the wireless part. My computer has a wired connection to the router and, and I get told "A network cable has been unplugged" every time it happens. Then, if I look down at the router, I see no flashing lights, just the steady glow of the power light. It always fixes itself after 10-15 seconds, but it's very annoying. Certainly, playing games online or having a conversation on Skype is made more difficult. As previously mentioned, we replaced our older router because it was exhibiting the same behavior, but the new one does it with greater frequency. At the very least, the router does reset itself instead of needing us to cycle the power. The setup was slightly different with the old router: I was using a wireless connection with a WMP54Gv4 which I've had to disable since it bluescreens the moment it so much as sniffs a signal from the WRT120N?

My D-link router won't give me a break. Every 10 or 20 minutes it resets, severing the internet connection. This is extremely annoying, especially when I'm playing online games or downloading something. Simply put, the three lights suddenly turn off, then they start turning on again one after the other. I don't want any of the automated answering machines with their usual 'help', like "download update", "contact your ISP","disable your firewall".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have bought a DIR 615 router one week ago and although my main goal was to use it at better wireless speeds (using the N feature) it turned out that I can only use it as a normal router. The hardware version is H1 and the software ver is 8.0.
The problem is that whenever I turn on the wireless with default configuration, the router immediately starts resetting by itself over and over again. Sometimes it doesn't reconnect, but as soon as I try to connect to it using one of my laptops, it immediately starts restarting. After it starts the continuous resetting, it is very hard to reset its settings using the hardware reset button, because I don't even have time to press it for 10 seconds. If the wireless is turned off, everything works.
This router is resetting to default(erase router name and passwords and resetting router login to default. only thing i see is my sons has a iphone that will use the wifi and i have set parental restriction on it during certian hours. This past 3 time it has reset in 2 weeks his phone with the parental restricions are common. one other thing is i use the app on my droid to check settings on the router .
so th ecommon points here are one one using wifi threw router and has restrictions on it and outer is me with the linksys app to log into my rrouter and make a change like yuring on parental controls on..
but what happens is the router will reboot and renames itself to cisc05179 and cleared all protection and sets router to unsecured.
Turns out one of the relatives changed the router name and password, and in a fit of brilliance, forgot to WRITE THE NEW USERNAME/PASSWORD DOWN!So I typed in 192.168.1.1 and tried literally every combination I know. NOTHING works tried rebooting the WRT120N. I tried both holding the reset button in, as well as holding the reset button in along with pulling the power adapter cord. Neither of these achieved the desired result (which would be the resetting of the factory username and password to "admin/admin".

My modem and wireless were working fine for years...and then recently without me doing anything my modem kept dropping connection and the internet and dsl lights kept flashing and then going back solid....so i'd be connected for a few minutes and then they'd start flashing again over and over all the time. I finally called verizon and then had me fiddle around with stuff...followed all their directions...but ended up only being able to connect while directly connected to the modem. Even then, the modem was still losing connection and getting it back. (i was supposed to schedule a house call for a tech to check it out, never did) Over a couple weeks the connection ended up getting better on its own, so now it pretty much never drops out anymore. (almost) i've reset my modem, i've reset my router....i just still cant seem to get websites working with my modem and wireless router connected.
I have a WRT54G router Ver. 5 with firmware v. 1.02.5. This is the second time this has happened to me but the router reset itself to the factory defaults. I lost all my configurations. I'm saving the configuration this time but it will be annoying to keep having to reconfigure the router.

I've been using Linksys for years but the last two routers I have purchased have been very problematic.
- My router hasn't had this problem before. The other day I was downloading 4 games at a time from STEAM, when I got home from work I found that my router had completely gone back to factory settings. So I configured my DSL PPPoE, SSID, Wireless Security (WPA) changed the default admin PW and about 20 minutes later it was back to factory again.
I've done a "hard" reset and reconfigured and still it resets itself. What's also upsetting is this completely opens my network up to ANYONE when this happens...
So far in the past 2 days I have (now using a backup restore file) re-configured the device 10 times.
The only thing I can think of is that I just got Windows 7 the same day this started happening. I thought it could be STEAM as well so right now I have STEAM closed to see if it resets while it isn't running.
Could TOO much demand on the router cause it to completely reset itself to factory config?? Seems to me like there's a huge firmware or hardware problem here.
I have other friends and even co-workers that also have problems galore with their Linksys products...No other router it seems has as MANY issues as Linksys. Hat to say it but my next purchase most likely will not be another one of their products. This just shouldn't be happening.
I was given this router (it's my 3rd one) and cannot get the reset button to reset the password. I have run throught a 30/30/30 reset as well as just holding the button in for the standard 30 seconds.
I know the router works, as in i can ping it. It asks for a password when i go to 192.168.1.1, but *blank* and "admin" do not work. When i click the cancel button it displays a pink(salmon) screen that says "401 Unauthorized Authrization required". (all of this is when i am connected to it with an ethernet cable to #1)
When it's sitting there it has an led lit over power and one ove wlan which flickers from time to time.
I can't remember my password and I am locked out. How can I reset?

I'm having a very difficult time getting my WRT54GS to work with my Westell 6100 modem. I've been bouncing around gathering info, and what I've learned is that the goofy way CenturyLink tech support told me to hook up my old wired router (modem line into outgoing (LAN) router port) is because the Westell 6100 is a "smart modem/router". Therefore, when I run the Linksys setup CD, it sees the modem as a router, and won't properly configure. I've also learned that the Westell modem can be "dumbed down" into simply a modem by putting it into "bridge mode", which is where I'm at right now - trying to get it reset to factory defaults and resetting the connection type from PPPoE to Bridge. In the meantime, I also reset the WRT54GS to factory defaults, and now I've got another problem: the router will not allow me to set up encryption. The default setting is "Disabled", and when I click the down arrow and try to make any selection at all (preferred selection is WPA2 Personal), it reverts to Disabled. I've also tried to change the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1 (and alternately to 192.168.1.253), so it won't conflict with the modem's IP, and it freezes up every time I try.
