I've been offered a position for an at home call center agent, one stipulation is that my office is upstairs from my router and I cant use wifi, so has anybody used that device where you plug an adapter into 2 of your electrical outlets, on one end you connect your router and the other you connect your computer, so anybody know of a good brand at a good price

To do so, we're having a contractor install ethernet outlets in each of the rooms in the house, however that's going to work.So I'll have one in my room.I want to hook up my PS3, Xbox 360, Apple TV, and my desktop up to the one outlet in the wall, without having to change them at any time manually. But I also want to be able to use them at once without having to turn them off.Say I'm playing an Xbox game, but I can't save it. View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Lattitude E6420 WIFI adapter disables anytime I plug my laptop into the adapter and electric wall outlet. It has the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 adapter. I've downloaded the latest drivers, updated the power settings on the adapter etc. it's becoming a real problem as I often have to be mobile moving from office to office and up having to stay on battery power until it almost dies to avoid having to go into Device Manager each time I plug back into to re-Enable my adapter.

After stacking two 3750X switches, with four equal power-supply's, with StackWise and PowerStack , still got the next message every few hours %PLATFORM_ENV-1-FRU_PS_ACCESS: FRU Power Supply is not responding (gn4m-rt1p08-04-2)( note that the message revers to the second switch in the stack ) although the stackwise and powerstack on the switches is oke and are working correctly. !
Config : Stack-power in power-sharing mode/strict With CLI on the switch : All the power supply's and stack-power details, prio look OK.
Only: LMS prime /inventory/cisco-view/configure/power supply status result : some power supply's are marked as disabled.with the command > power supply 2 slot a off/on I manage to get the status back to "normal", but after a few hours some power supply's are again marked as "disabled".
Looks like SNMP en IOS difference from opinion.

I keep getting alerts from our WCS stating that our 1252s are drawing low power. Now I am aware that they require enhanced PoE (up to 20W) but as we only have standard PoE in that building we purchased the 1252 series power injectors to go with them.
However, even with the correct power injectors the WCS still reports the draws low power error.
Is this a bug? Running WCS 7.0.172 at the moment.
Forgot to say we are using the PWR-INJ4 and the injector status is enabled and you see the injector MAC address when you drill in to the AP status.
We have two switches of the same model (WS-C3560-48PS-S) that are not providing PoE. I'm trying to remotely determine what the cause of the issue is.

I have a 6500 chassis with 2 power supplies. At the moment I am using the default configuration:
power-redudancy mode redundant
The problem is that an inserted module is in "power deny" state due too insufficient power.
I know, that It's not a good idea to change into combined mode (loss of redundancy), but my customers requested this anyway.
So I will change to combined mode. So here's the 1 million dollar question: "Which modules will go into power deny, if one of my power supplies fails?"
The 6500 config guide states:
"Power supply is removed withredundancy disabled
• System log and syslog messages are generated.
• System power is decreased to the power capability of one supply.
• If there is not enough power for all previously powered-up modules, some modulesare powered down and marked as power-deny in the show power oper state field."
Well, do you know if there's any way to configure some kind of priority? E.g. I definetly don't want by 10Gig Module or WiSM module to be in power deny. Can i statically make sure, those module will be powered on for sure? Like: "power enable module slot_number" How is this calculated? Or is random?
In a stand alone 3750x switch configuration, can the secondary power supply only act as a redundant power supply (active/standby), or can it become a "pool" of power similar to power sharing mode for StackPower (somewhat active/active)? I understand there is no stack involved here but I'm curious if this functionality is possible.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got the power cut while PC was running (w7). After rebooting I'm not able to connect to the internet anymore.
In Device Manager, under Network Adapters there is a "Realtek PCIe GBE..." device properly installed. But under Other Devices there are now more entries with exclamation mark:
- Network controller
- Multimedia controller
- PCI Communication controller
etc
I tried updating the drivers, then deleting and reinstalling but no success so far. Still can't connect to the internet. The browser can see the router, at 192.168.1.1 I don't know where the problem is.
I'm running Windows Vista desktop on a wireless network. It's been working fine for months. Just lost power for a minute today and ever since I can't connect to the internet, only locally. My desktop can't even identify the network. My laptop (I'm using it to send this message) is also wirelessly connected and works fine, as do other wifi enabled devices in the house. I've done the power off and on for the modem and the router but it's made no difference. I've rebooted the desktop system too. I've run the ipconfig /all and am concerned I have no Default Gateway listed.

Now they say the internet is on but our network wont pick it up. After reading a number of sites it seems our switch to router may be the issue. the switch has all similar ports for network cable connections. the router has an obvious port for the main cable internet connection. I can not figure out if the location of connectors on the gigabyte switch matter in terms of where the switch and router connect to each other. this all worked last week. my other problem is that i have no internet access at the office to troubleshoot this. I dont remember model numbers for the switch and modem. we have 6 computers networked.

This shows up as as a local area connection but with no internet access. I have similar problems to other people with internet access dropping out after installing Windows * and had hoped an ethernet connection would be more stable. Any thoughts on why I can't connect to the internet via my powerline adapter.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI leave on one of my computers on all the time, an Acer desktop with Windows XP. I also have two laptops. I have Verizon DSL and a linksy wireless G router. When we have a power outage the Acer desk top loses it's internet connection. Trying to reconnect the connection takes hours. Even when we finally get it back we have no idea how we did it. The laptops which of course were off have no problem.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe had a power outage the other day, and now the wireless router cannot connect to the internet. Network Magic shows there is no connection from the device to the internet. I tried repairing it through Network Magic but it wasn't able to fix it.
My PC is directly connected to the wireless device by LAN cable. If I connect the PC directly to my DSL router I can connect to the internet, but not if I connect to the wireless router and from there to my DSL router. I tried resetting the wireless router to factory defaults and then going to [URL] and resetting up the router security settings. But Network Magic still shows the bad internet connection.
I then tried resetting the router to factory defaults again and installing it from scratch using the setup CD but that failed as well. I'm not at home right now so can't remember exactly at which point it was but I think it was either when the setup wizard tried to detect the device or install the device.This is the second time I've had to reset up my router due to power outage. Last time I was able to get it working by doing the first steps above.
I have a Linksys WRT54GS vers 7.2 Router on an iMac OS X Leopard. The other day I was in the middle of downloading an upgrade for the router when Firefox gave me this message: "Firefox can't find the server". I was no longer able to access the internet, and the router's green power light was left flashing. It flashed for over 24 hours. I tried unplugging the router and shutting down the computer, then plugging in the router and turning on the computer. (I don't have a modem.) The light was still flashing. I tried pressing the logo button for 5 seconds. Still flashing. Tried pressing the reset button in the back. Still flashing. 'I can't get on the internet or into the router. Linksys live chat gave me a link to "Upgrading the router’s firmware using the TFTP utility", which involves a download, but I can't download anything because I can't access the internet.

Immediately after a power outage, my internet connection predictably drops after a set period of time or usage. It is either after about 30 min or 5-15 mins of watching Netflix. I have a modem hooked up to a wireless router and use the network on my iPhone, laptop and Roku. Since the problem, I have dropped to just having my laptop connected but this has not worked. The wireless network will disappear after the 5 - 20 mins, the light on the modem and router will show no internet (all other lights are normal). Internet connection will be reestablished if I either unplug both the modem and the router (not just one or the other) OR if I unplug the ethernet line from the modem to the router and plug it directly into my laptop (the internet light on the modem will go from "off" to "on"). Despite internet connection working from transferring from the router to the laptop if I connect it back to the router, the internet lights goes off again (resolves upon unplugging and plugging modem and router back in). The internet has not yet dropped when it is physically plugged into my laptop.
I have tried the following:
-Powercycling (temp fix until it crashes again)
-Plugging into a different outlet (I cannot connect it to a different phone line, only have 1 with DSL. Also, I do not have phone service or cable, just internet via DSL)
-Resetting modem
-Resetting 2 different routers
-Calling ISP, their test of the modem was inconclusive
Again, my wifi does not see my network whenever the internet is dropped or the ethernet cord is unplugged from the modem. The outlets I have it plugged into has some type of electrical issue, two electrical devices have shorted out in the room they are in. I do not think this issue is electrical, everything seems to have constant power (unless the power outage shorted out something in the modem). Below are some details of my modem and router. I will provide any additional info requested. I will gladly buy a new modem but I want to see if it can be fixed first.

So I just got this new WRT160Nv2 router. I have (1) wired computer and then my laptop running wireless to it. For the first couple days I had some issues getting consistant internet but after reading some stuff on here I downgraded to the version 8 hardware and it worked GREAT for about 3 days. Now my power light won't stop flashing and I have NO internet connection at all through the router. I have tried to reset the router by holding down the button and also unpluging it but still nothing.

Later on I moved the ps3 downstairs and connected it via Ethernet and it worked so good.I want to look into buying those Ethernet power lines but not sure how good they are compared to running a Ethernet cable from the ps3 to the router or how good they will be vs wireless? I just don't want to waste money on these. If all else fails we will probs run a Ethernet cable through the ceiling

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had lost power to my apartment and when everything came back on everything was working as normal...until about an hour later when my internet connection was sporadic at best. I called the ISP and they confirmed that the modem is fine. My other computers can connect to it via ethernet cable and wifi so it doesn't appear to be the router.
When I try to ping anything it seems to time out randomly.. (ran "ping Yahoo! -t1" and let it go for a while..times out every 10 requests or so).
I swapped out the ethernet cable but the LEDs on the NIC are Orange(Amber) for both cables. The wifi on the computer works fine. I reinstalled the driver for the NIC.
