I'm just wondering here, is it by any chance possible to power off a home network router on a given time? You know, perhaps schedule the up- and down times, when it's on and when it's supposed to be off.

The problem is, the power goes out twice a day for a minuite, and my router automatically resets itself when the power comes back on. Because of this I have to keep going to the router settings, set up a password and hide the network twice a day.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have access controls setup on my DIR-825 which work fine until there is a power outage and my router comes back up.I am using Automatic Time Configuration and have the NTP server set to ntp1 [URL]When the router comes back up I checked to make sure the NTP server option is still enabled, and it is, however the current time is totally wrong.To fix this I had to go to the pull-down, select 'ntp1.dlink.com' and then save the settings. After this the time is correct again.This is as bad as not having the Automatic Time Configuration option at all, since I can't guarantee that the power won't go out. I do not have a UPS hooked up to back up the router, nor do I see why I should need one if the Automatic Time Configuration actually worked.know if there is a way of making the Automatic Time Configuration reliable so the time on my router is automatically corrected when the power comes back up?

I have the settings configured correctly in IOS, but the AP takes about 7 minutes to come on (illuminate LED status lights) once the Ethernet cable is connected. Is this 7 minute power-on delay normal when using POE? I am used to the instanteous "on" that usually comes with Cisco products being connected directly to the AC adapter.

I can login to console port and copy the error messages below. Reload the router and it will return back to normal operation. Re-installed IOS but still the same.

After stacking two 3750X switches, with four equal power-supply's, with StackWise and PowerStack , still got the next message every few hours %PLATFORM_ENV-1-FRU_PS_ACCESS: FRU Power Supply is not responding (gn4m-rt1p08-04-2)( note that the message revers to the second switch in the stack ) although the stackwise and powerstack on the switches is oke and are working correctly. !
Config : Stack-power in power-sharing mode/strict With CLI on the switch : All the power supply's and stack-power details, prio look OK.
Only: LMS prime /inventory/cisco-view/configure/power supply status result : some power supply's are marked as disabled.with the command > power supply 2 slot a off/on I manage to get the status back to "normal", but after a few hours some power supply's are again marked as "disabled".
Looks like SNMP en IOS difference from opinion.

I keep getting alerts from our WCS stating that our 1252s are drawing low power. Now I am aware that they require enhanced PoE (up to 20W) but as we only have standard PoE in that building we purchased the 1252 series power injectors to go with them.
However, even with the correct power injectors the WCS still reports the draws low power error.
Is this a bug? Running WCS 7.0.172 at the moment.
Forgot to say we are using the PWR-INJ4 and the injector status is enabled and you see the injector MAC address when you drill in to the AP status.
We have two switches of the same model (WS-C3560-48PS-S) that are not providing PoE. I'm trying to remotely determine what the cause of the issue is.

I have a 6500 chassis with 2 power supplies. At the moment I am using the default configuration:
power-redudancy mode redundant
The problem is that an inserted module is in "power deny" state due too insufficient power.
I know, that It's not a good idea to change into combined mode (loss of redundancy), but my customers requested this anyway.
So I will change to combined mode. So here's the 1 million dollar question: "Which modules will go into power deny, if one of my power supplies fails?"
The 6500 config guide states:
"Power supply is removed withredundancy disabled
• System log and syslog messages are generated.
• System power is decreased to the power capability of one supply.
• If there is not enough power for all previously powered-up modules, some modulesare powered down and marked as power-deny in the show power oper state field."
Well, do you know if there's any way to configure some kind of priority? E.g. I definetly don't want by 10Gig Module or WiSM module to be in power deny. Can i statically make sure, those module will be powered on for sure? Like: "power enable module slot_number" How is this calculated? Or is random?
In a stand alone 3750x switch configuration, can the secondary power supply only act as a redundant power supply (active/standby), or can it become a "pool" of power similar to power sharing mode for StackPower (somewhat active/active)? I understand there is no stack involved here but I'm curious if this functionality is possible.

Rebooting clears the discrepancy for a short time before it drops an hour exactly. I'm in the central time zone and the setting are correct on the basic setup.?

Can the N router broadcast both N and G signal at the same time? So all adapters in the house can connect to the router. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 6 computers on a home network. 5 of them are running Windows 7 Home Premium and 1 is running Windows 7 Ultimate. My ISP is CBeyond, a T1 signal. I consistently get the "Windows has detected an IP address conflict" error on my screens and I have to reboot my router at least 5 times a day to get the wireless signal to connect. My laptop states that it is connected but I get the yellow triangle telling me that it has no internet connection. The firmware on the router is the latest version. DHCP is enabled on the router and set to Obtain Address Automatically and Obtain DNS automatically.
I can't figure out what's wrong. The 6 computers are wired through a switch connected to another switch connected to the router. This is also how the computers are connected on the network. I have several switches connected to the router. How do I configure the router so it doesn't have to be rebooted all the time to access the internet wirelessly?
I've lost the original power adapter that came with my wireless router (Netgear N150 Wireless Router WNR1000v2) and was wondering if it would be safe to use another power adapter with it instead. As long as the power adapter meets the the requirements of the router and fits, it should be okay to use, right? I'm just wanting to be safe before plugging it in. Don't want to damage anything.

I will be playing an online game or surfing the web, and every so often I'll freeze up or things just won't run smoothly. My network consists of the following...All of my computers and devices connect to a Cisco 16 port gigabit switchThe switch then connects to a Peplink 20 Dual WAN routerThe router connects to a cable modem as well as a DSL modemThe other day I was trying to diagnose the problem, as well as update the firmware of the router. While I was on the main "status" page, I noticed an error saying that I couldn't connect to the router. It quickly cleared and everything was working fine. This of course made me think that my issues have to do with my connection to the router, and not with the internet service itself. I then tried ping -t to two other computers on the network, as well as the router. After 5 minutes of pinging, the connections to the two computers had zero fails, while the router connection failed about 5% of the time. I ran the same check from the other computers on the network, with similar results.So, I know that the issue lies with the router (I think), but that's where my brainstorm ends.
