We have a WLC 4402 controlling 40+ LWAPs. Is there a way to keep Tx power level assignment dynamic, but set the time of day it does it? I'd like to minimize user impact. (Firmware v. is 7.0.116.0)
View 2 RepliesWe are using WiSM WLCs and WCS to control a variety of 1131,1142 and 1252 APs utilising AP groups.
I've noticed on WCS that the power of certain APs is at a low setting, even though the APs surrounding them are also at a low setting. This is causing some gaps to appear on the heatmaps. I was under the impression that the WLCs would regulate the AP power to compensate for any gaps. Currently the global TX power level assignment method algorithm is set to automatic every 600 sec.
Now, obviously I could change this to fixed (not ideal as I may not want all my APs to run at max power all the time) or to on demand (also not ideal due to the increased admin).
Is there a way I can verify that the automatic power levels are adjusting as they should? Why are there gaps appearing in my heatmaps?
*NB It's not just the gaps on the heatmaps, I'm getting reports of dropping wireless signals from users hence me looking at the heatmaps and they just happen to correspond.

I have a deployment of AIR-CAP35021 APs. They are in 2 buildings with multiple floors. They are installed in a row down the hallways. I want to increase the power levels by using the controller and not configuring the APs individually. I have set the TPC value to -50 but I still do not reach the outer walls of the floors in some areas. I need to know what to set the Max Power Level Assignment or Min Power Level Assignment to to get the APs to power up some more. If the MAX value is 30 and the default is 30 then how to adjust that value?

I'd like to update it and see if it fixes it before I return this for a dlink. url...Anyways, I just want the firmware link so I can decide if this thing is going back to the store or not.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA few months ago we upgraded our warehouse from 1242 APs to 3502E APs. We changed 16 units, all in the same building. When we came in the next day we found out that they were all on channel 1 at their lowest power level. The WLC was set for auto negotiate for power and channel but for some reason it did not work. We had successfully changed they rest of the factory with the auto feature enabled but for some reason, the warehouse did not work properly. All APs have the same IOS and are they same model. We have WiSMs mounted in a 6509 chassis as our WLC.

I have an C4900M with twingig converter and SFP GLC-LX-SMD in. So the SFP supports DOM function. It is running on 12.2(53)SG2.
I would to the see the optical power level of the SFP, but it does not recognize 'show interface transceiver' command as showed in 4500 software guide.
Is it possible for me to plug in and turn on on-board redundant power supply for a 4402 WLC that is already online and in production without any disruption to Wireless users and APs attached to that same controller?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have verified that I am set to auto connect however my wireless does not do so upon start. I have to do so manually each time I use my computer. This is a new problem since installing the newest driver update because I could not connect at all or randomly. The update fixed the connection problem and I no longer have dropped connections and wifi connection back to normal. HOWEVER it has left my auto connect nonfunctional.

When both devices are connected to the same network I cannot connect to the printer. If I change my laptop over to the guest wireless or to a wired lan, I can see the printer. I vendor stated that within the 4402 wireless controller there is a setting to allow wifi to wifi connections on the same internal network. I am trying to figure out what that setting is called and where I might look for the setting within the wireless controller.

When I manually update the dyndns information (username and password) the registration does go through and the entry is updated on the dyndns site.
However, the registration does not auto-update after that.
we have the issue that a new WLC 5508 has been installed in a new location. Unfortunaltelly we have no hands-on suopport on-site, so just remote connection.Now we figured that the service-port and management interfaces have to be reconfigured. In case we can not reach the WLC with the new configured interfaces it would be useful if the WLC reboots automatically after time x to reload the previouse working configuration.So the question is, is there a functionality to create a script which reboots the WLC automatically after time x?

Now I setup my computer to auto-shutdown at a particular time via cmd, but I want o know whether it is possible for me to put some time settings in my modem+router so that it switches off at a particular time or something like that.Then when I get up next morning, start using it again. I don't want to keep my router on after it's not needed. Also I don't wanna keep it vulnerable after it's not needed, even though I have set it up quite securely. ( WPA2 PSK, and MAC filtering)

I had tried the following methods:
1) switch xxxxx (config)# line console
switch xxxxx (config-line)# autobaud
--------------------> my terminal hangs and print out rubbish
2) Using http Administrator ->Console setting ( i cannot find the link with console setting)
I've setted the unit in BRIDGE MODE, and attached on it 3 LAN devices, 1 PC Desktop, 1 NAS WDBE and 1 HP printer ... OK all config process was right and all my units talk togheter via AP Netgear DNG2000, and so i can use for instance the printer with my laptop too connected in WI-FI N. Now usually, In the night I turn off all my devices (DAP included), and when in the morning I need only the printer used by my laptop, obviously I turn on ROUTER - BRIDGE - PRINTER - LAPTOP but NOT the DESKTOP ... and so the DAP can't reconnect automatically to the router (both the lights AP/BRIDGE are on and fixed) ... I turn on the PC and the BRIDGE reconnect to the world .... BUT I DON'T WANT turn on everytime the desktop !
1) all gears has fixed IPs
2) DHCP server deactivated on the AP main router (DNG2000)
3) no WPS used, only WPA2-PSK (AES) personal keys on all gears
once that DAP-1522 is connected to the router .... all work fine (also when I turn off the DESKTOP).so the workaround is never turn-off the DAP ? I can't believe ... and who will save the energy planet
I set up a DIR-655 router for a friend 4 years ago and it's worked reliably with all of their equipment since. They have wireless printers, iMacs, pc laptops and iPhone 4S's, all connecting without any problems. Recently, they got an iPhone5 and it will not connect to their home wireless automatically, they have to re-enter the password each time. They've tested their iPhone 5 on other networks and they do not have to re-enter the password. Apple and ATT are blaming the router. I do not live near them and I'm going to have to facilitate them remotely. At this point, I believe their router is configured with WPA2, but I can't be sure. Which configuration will work with the iPhone 5, as well as their other, older, devices that have worked for 4 years

I have the two talking . when i go to login at the web login page I get the Error Login Error. When i look at the NPS logs it says: "Network Policy Server granted full access to a user because the host met the defined health policy" . It has a very strong signal, and is covering our small office and half the parking lot.
In the Administration Guide, under FAQs, it mentions a setting for output power but I cannot find this setting.
The SW version is 2.0.0.5, and that seems to be the latest version - the file I downloaded is WAP4410N-fw-2.0.0.5-K9.img but I haven't installed it yet.
I have installed an Aironet 1130AG and utilized a power injector for the power source. I have the settings configured correctly in IOS, but the AP takes about 7 minutes to come on (illuminate LED status lights) once the Ethernet cable is connected. Is this 7 minute power-on delay normal when using POE? I am used to the instanteous "on" that usually comes with Cisco products being connected directly to the AC adapter.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have access controls setup on my DIR-825 which work fine until there is a power outage and my router comes back up.I am using Automatic Time Configuration and have the NTP server set to ntp1 [URL]When the router comes back up I checked to make sure the NTP server option is still enabled, and it is, however the current time is totally wrong.To fix this I had to go to the pull-down, select 'ntp1.dlink.com' and then save the settings. After this the time is correct again.This is as bad as not having the Automatic Time Configuration option at all, since I can't guarantee that the power won't go out. I do not have a UPS hooked up to back up the router, nor do I see why I should need one if the Automatic Time Configuration actually worked.know if there is a way of making the Automatic Time Configuration reliable so the time on my router is automatically corrected when the power comes back up?
