I am trying to have the RV220W router auto-update the dyndns registration. The dynamic domain that I use is .info -- note the .info domain.
When I manually update the dyndns information (username and password) the registration does go through and the entry is updated on the dyndns site.
However, the registration does not auto-update after that.
I am using DynDNS in lieu of a static ip. My ISP changed my WAN ip last night as expected however the RV180W did not update the WAN ip, and so the router is now offline. Using a secondary internet connection I have logged into DynDNS.com and checked my hosts file and confirmed the ipa has not updated since March. I changed the update period from 360 to 2 so this never happens again, but I need to now change the WAN ipa in the RV180W to match the new one. I remember a screen that shows the current WAN ip address greyed out under the present one, but I dont recll where to go to get to that. I am at a loss as to where I go in the RV180W to change the WAN ip address.

I'm running the most recent firmware (1.0.2.4 as of this writing) and have noticed this router reboots daily. I'm guessing it's locking up and rebooting as it occurs as different times of the day. Compared to the RV042, this was a bit of a pain to setup especially with regard to port forwarding. I'm hesitant to reset and start over again especially since this is brand new.

View 36 Replies View RelatedIs there any timeframe on an update for the RV220W firmware? I have had to take mine out of production due to it freezing up/locking up under medium loads. DNS queries (dig) don't respond, pings outside of the network don't respond. Pings to the router DO respond. SSH responds but I have no login info to proceed further. The config (web) page doesn't respond. Interesting enough nntp (news groups) DO respond and download fine. Eventually the unit catches up and the config page shows back up. I wish there was a way to login via the ssh to see what is going on internally with processes. I will have to find time eventually. Right now my old Linksys 54G with DD-WRT is smoking the Cisco router's performance.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've previously upgraded the firmware on our RV220W from 1.0.0.26 to 1.0.1.0 without any problems but all attempts to upgrade to the latest version 1.0.2.4 fails with the following message "Upgrade failed due to invalid/corrupted firmware". The router then automatically reboots with the current firmware.
We've already tried re-downloading and applying the update from several different machines using different operating systems and browsers without success. How to apply this firmware version successfully? We really need one of the VLAN fixes included in this latest version!
I have the DIR-655 Rev B with the 2.03NA firmware and am trying to get the dyn dns feature to work. Unfortunately it will not push the IP address to my dyndns account. I have all the correct settings in the panel but still nothing next to the status line.I've double checked all my settings but still no joy.Any way to get dyndns to work?

I'm having a problem where my dir655 updates the wrong ip adress to dyndns server. It always report 255.255.255.255. The dyndns information is all entered correctly and says "connected" in the dyndns configuration. So what is wrong with the adress update from the dir-655 to the dyndns server ? Of course I cannot use my dyndns adress since it is always at the wrong adress.

Environment: Internet (external IP say 24.x.x.x) ISP provided modem+router (192. 168. 1.x/ 24 IPTV network) E4200 (192.168.0.x/24 my home network).
The DDNS option page did report update succefully and shown the external IP address correctly on the page, however when I login to dynDNS it shows 192.168.1.x, which is the E4200 IP dhcp from the ISP's router.I know that it's double NAT, but the 192.168.1x/24 subnet is the IPTV subnet, and my old Dlink router did support and update the dynDNS entry properly.
The public IP address of my 2800 router where all VPN clients terminate will change shortly. There are some technique to auto-change the client´s profile for clients to connect to the new IP address? I have seen that VPN 3000 concentrator is able to do this so i can´t get one of those right now

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe local router is behind a fiber firewall/router; the rvs4000's ext ip is thus 192.168.1.2, not visible from the net. The firewall/router is a dyn ip, with a dyn dns name mapping to it. The remote (some NetGear thing) is also dyn dns, but it is not behind a firewall.
I want to cook a vpn from the local lan subnet to the remote lan subnet.
It worked fine when both ends were NetGear.
I think it would be ok if somehow I could thell the rvs4000 that the local Security Gateway Type be just FQDN; it can't be IP+FQDN because the remote end doesn't know anything about that kind of thing; it can do IP or FQDN or a couple other confusing things.
I recently moved out of state and have been working remotely. I just got a new internet provider who will not let me connect to my office VPN without a small business account which is ridiculous. I've been reading up on how to work around this and haven't been able to figure anything out. I've signed up for a dynDNS account but the truth is I have zero experience with this and don't know what I'm doing - most of the stuff I'm reading is a foreign language to me. I can log into my router and change settings and I can get VPN info from my tech person and work so I just need to know what to do. I can't really work effectively without access to my network but I refuse to pay for a small business account

I've got two RV082's connected. Each has a dynamic IP (changes typically every few weeks). I've configured the tunnels on both ends with a local and remote "Remote/Local Security Gateway Type" of "Dynamic IP + Domain Name(FQDN) Authentication".If I look at the VPN Summary tunnel status, it shows an IP address of "mydomain.dyndns.org 0.0.0.0" under the "Remote Gateway" column heading. The Tunnel Test "Connect" button is N/A.I can resolve both of the mydomain.dyndns.org entries on both sides of each VPN using the Diagnostic DNS lookup tool within each router. If I hardwire a fixed IP address for the Local and Remote Gateway everything works just fine. VPN is good.
I just can't seem to get the "mydomain.dyndns.org" function to work. It appears the router can't resolve the dynamic IP from the domain names on each of the routers.
I have a router SRP521W I wonder if you can setup a self-attendant or ivr to this device.

my RVS4000 is not renewing DHCP lease in Auto mode. Connection lost after 24 hours.
WAN Internet interface is physically connected to cable modem - Motorola SBV6120E. Setup as DHCP server. Cisco RVS4000 is obtaining DHCP public IP without any issue, the problem is that the connection drop every 24 hours and I need to release/renew DHCP each day to be able to communicate after 24 hours. After I loose connection I need to release DHCP, the WAN interface goes down and I need to renew DHCP then. I receive the same IP address and connection is againg UP and working.
tried to load new firmware and also setup the router with default configuration, but without any change. as there is no auto-reboot function, it is really annoying to log into managment interface each day. I also loose remote access after 24 hours, so I am not able to access the rotuer from outside. My local provider do not support static public IP on WAN, therefore I have to use DHCP.
Just installed N600 Play router. All computers and phone connect fine, but computers won't auto connect after reboot or sleep. With old router this worked fine.

So according to their documentation, the server in question would need to be configured with a private IP. Unfortunately, one of the applications I use is licensed via IP address and my understanding is that I cannot use the software with private/non-routable IP addresses.

I'm using a RV220W router, and recently got shifted to a dynamic IP solution.Now, I've got a no-ip.org address, but the update service seems to be on no-ip.com. So, I try to enter mydomain.no-ip.org OR mydomain.no-ip.com in the dynamic dns settings, under Host and Domain Name, but when saving the settings it says
'The hostname specified does not exist in this user account' ,which seems to indicate that it manages to login to the update service but gets a negative reply.Is it possible to use the RV220W with no-ip.org/com?
We have 2 sites connected thru 2 RV220W routers via VPN and most things are working fine. I have noticed however, that any device that has a web interface, i.e. our Sharp Copier and our Freenas server, is inaccessible. The page tries to come up but then I get the Cisco "server is down" page generated by the RV220W.
I can pull up the web interface pages if I use a machine on the local LAN but not on any machine across the VPN. The only commonality I can think of is the RV220W blocking that traffic for some reason..
