I use an adsl router to make a wireless network in my room.I keep the network hidden and also keep a password. The problem is, the power goes out twice a day for a minuite, and my router automatically resets itself when the power comes back on. Because of this I have to keep going to the router settings, set up a password and hide the network twice a day.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAny input on this: We had a DMZ server that customers used to get to their information. This sever was the front end to get to the host that holds the customer information. The server was in a DMZ, the path from Server to host was: through DMZ switch, through firewall to 6509 switch to the host. We never had a problem with this, the server application was old but worked great.
We have since moved to having someone host the front end. The front end connects via Internet to their third party router, to the same DMZ switch through same firewall, to same 6509 to host. The third party router is configured with VPN tunnel to remote end. Connection comes through Internet to their router and is Na Ted then goes to DMZ, to host.

We have had nothing but trouble with this connection. Customers are complaining because the connections time out so much. We see a lot of tcp resets on the host to the Router NAT ip address (which is the DMZ side interface). The resets usually show "Invalid Query Header Length". The current connection is capped at 1Mbps, with average response times of 50ms (spikes to 200).
They keep telling us that something is wrong with the host, but I have to believe the latency is causing us problems. I can see that bandwidth seems to be enough as I do not see the interfaces utilizing that much, averages about 300K. I was wondering could the IOS NAT be contributing to the problem as well?
I'm using Comcast cable with a Linksys WRT4Gs wife router. I live in an older building which loses power for a little while (10 minutes or so) with every big storm. Every time the power comes back the linksys router completely resets...I have to plug into it and change the SSID, turn security back on, enter the password again, and then I'm fine...can I prevent this from happening? Before I plug into it I see both networks available (mine under my name, but I can't connect to it, and linksys as a public network), is there a step I'm missing to make my router remember it's identity?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have access controls setup on my DIR-825 which work fine until there is a power outage and my router comes back up.I am using Automatic Time Configuration and have the NTP server set to ntp1 [URL]When the router comes back up I checked to make sure the NTP server option is still enabled, and it is, however the current time is totally wrong.To fix this I had to go to the pull-down, select 'ntp1.dlink.com' and then save the settings. After this the time is correct again.This is as bad as not having the Automatic Time Configuration option at all, since I can't guarantee that the power won't go out. I do not have a UPS hooked up to back up the router, nor do I see why I should need one if the Automatic Time Configuration actually worked.know if there is a way of making the Automatic Time Configuration reliable so the time on my router is automatically corrected when the power comes back up?

I have the settings configured correctly in IOS, but the AP takes about 7 minutes to come on (illuminate LED status lights) once the Ethernet cable is connected. Is this 7 minute power-on delay normal when using POE? I am used to the instanteous "on" that usually comes with Cisco products being connected directly to the AC adapter.

my internet will disconnect sometimes for a split second, for a few minutes or for hours at a time. My boyfriend and I have directly connected his computer to the modem, and the internet is working. I have also called our ISP and asked if there are any problems on their end, and our modem is working fine with no issues. So we had come to the conclusion that our router was at fault. It was a Linksys E1500, we investigated online and found that many people had the same problem and it was solved through buying a new router. We have since bought a new router a D-link N150, it worked for a week and a half, but now our internet is back to disconnecting randomly throughout the day. We have tried resetting the router back to factory settings to an avail.

The problem is that my internet connection either randomly loses connection for about 5-10 seconds until it gets back online or disconnects all together. When it disconnects and it can't get back online on it's own, I have to pull the power plug and plug it back in. My sister in law and I are sharing internet since our houses are about 100 feet between each other. We are using one modem, and two routers. All we did was just plug the second router to the first router and it worked! We didn't configure anything in the router control panels, we basically just plugged and play. Since it's been kicking us off or resetting on us, I feel it might be something that we had to configure in the two routers. But I don't know what to configure. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 2Wire 2701HG-B modem/router provided to me by AT&T for my DSL service. I have one issue and a seperate question sort of related to it.The issue I'm having is that whenever a laptop gets online with wireless internet the modem will randomly reset connection.Some times it will do it every 30 seconds, some times it will be once an hour or even more.It works perfectly fine on any laptop when plugged in with Ethernet cable but only with wireless it will glitch out. It does this whether it is the only computer online on the network, and also when there are a few others online so it's just the simple fact of the wireless resetting it somehow.I've done lots of google searching and some people say changing the line pair settings fixed it for them. Some say changing from b/g mode to just g mode fixed it. I've tried every thing that I've come across and nothing has worked so far. Apparently this is a very common problem for this model I just can not find the right solution that has worked for other people, to work for me as well.
if I were to want to make this modem/router just a modem and hook up my own router for N wireless would this be possible? I know I've read ways about putting combos in DMZ mode or something but I don't really know what I'm looking for because everything is worded different in this modem's settings.Can any one provide any insight as to if this is possible, and if it's even worth it to do so? Mainly worried about the first thing I mentioned though, this is just a side note.
My DIR655 is about a month old, works fine but randomly resets to factory default (loses configuration). Used it to get internet from an existing wired connection with gateway 192.168.0.1, therefore changed Network address of Dlink to 192.168.1.1 to make it work. Every so many days of working ok, it suddenly resets to factory default with no one touching the reset button. Have to restore the configuration from saved file which is a hassle.
Although the DIR655 is connected to a UPS, it shouldn't lose the settings during blackouts right?
I have a DIR-615 that is not responding to hard resets. It was working fine for about a week and then stopped handing out IP's to wireless clients. I attempted a power cycle and when the router came back up the wireless light was no longer on and it was no longer handing out IP's to Ethernet clients. The power light is solid, internet light lights up when connected to my modem and flashes intermittently, and the Ethernet lights light up in response to connecting clients. I have attempted to hard reset the router to no avail. I also tried statically assigning 192. 168. 0.120 to my NIC to see if I could access the router config but that doesn't work either. It's almost as if the default ip address and range for the LAN on my router have changed and DHCP was turned off.

After stacking two 3750X switches, with four equal power-supply's, with StackWise and PowerStack , still got the next message every few hours %PLATFORM_ENV-1-FRU_PS_ACCESS: FRU Power Supply is not responding (gn4m-rt1p08-04-2)( note that the message revers to the second switch in the stack ) although the stackwise and powerstack on the switches is oke and are working correctly. !
Config : Stack-power in power-sharing mode/strict With CLI on the switch : All the power supply's and stack-power details, prio look OK.
Only: LMS prime /inventory/cisco-view/configure/power supply status result : some power supply's are marked as disabled.with the command > power supply 2 slot a off/on I manage to get the status back to "normal", but after a few hours some power supply's are again marked as "disabled".
Looks like SNMP en IOS difference from opinion.

I keep getting alerts from our WCS stating that our 1252s are drawing low power. Now I am aware that they require enhanced PoE (up to 20W) but as we only have standard PoE in that building we purchased the 1252 series power injectors to go with them.
However, even with the correct power injectors the WCS still reports the draws low power error.
Is this a bug? Running WCS 7.0.172 at the moment.
Forgot to say we are using the PWR-INJ4 and the injector status is enabled and you see the injector MAC address when you drill in to the AP status.
We have two switches of the same model (WS-C3560-48PS-S) that are not providing PoE. I'm trying to remotely determine what the cause of the issue is.
