WNR1000v2 - Using A Different Power Adapter For Router?

Mar 20, 2012

I've lost the original power adapter that came with my wireless router (Netgear N150 Wireless Router WNR1000v2) and was wondering if it would be safe to use another power adapter with it instead. As long as the power adapter meets the the requirements of the router and fits, it should be okay to use, right? I'm just wanting to be safe before plugging it in. Don't want to damage anything.

Have A WNR1000v2 Should Get A New Router?

Nov 19, 2011

My family has a Netgear Wireless-N 150 router (WNR1000v2) which we got for free from Comcast. We've had some problems getting it to behave, sometimes it drops connection to either the MacBook or the MacBookPro in the house, and the two iPads can hardly ever get good enough signal. Dispite this, it works fine for the hardwired computers, a Dell XPS and a iMac. After attempting to upgrade the firmware manually, I found that there were a huge amount of people complaining that this router doesn't play well with Macs, and that they were having the same kind of issues (also, the router won't update to the latest firmware because it's from Comcast). In light of this, I think that getting a new router makes sense.

If I were to get a new one, which router should I get? We live in a 3 story skinny town house with a finished basement (so if signal can get there too it would be great). If you can't tell me a specific model to pick, what exactly should I look for in a router? I'm not really sure which specs to compare. Getting a specific router was a good idea, but that I'd have to change the settings or even install a different type of firmware.

I have removed the check in front of the enable box in the Authorization Tab. The only difference I have noticed is that the icon in the task bar instead of a white on red X I now get a Black on yellow triangle...but still no connection...all this after a couple of days worth of **bleep**

Cisco Wireless :: 1602i APs - Power Injector Or Adapter?

Jan 28, 2013

We are planning a wireless network using the 1602i APs.  Some of our APs might or might not be within the 100m limit from the switches, so we'll be running them as repeaters instead.  Right now, we are planning on buying power injectors for everything, but I can't seem to find an answer to this question:

If I'm running an AP as a repeater (no ethernet running back to a switch), can it still receive power from a power injector and a short ethernet run between the injector and the AP?  Or will I need to use a power adapter?

WNR1000v2 - Routers Internet Connection Keeps Dropping Off?

Mar 5, 2011

i have been having issues with my internet for months now, my router just randomly loses its internet connection over and over everyday. I used to have slow internet with verizon so i changed to comcast and after i changed to comcast this problem started, when i called comcast they said that it has to be interference from an unknown source. I have a Wireless-N 150 Router model WNR1000v2 and it came with a modem. Things i have tried are changing my security to WPA2-PSK[AES] which it saiid would increase my connectivity..did not, i have changed my channel also didnt solve the problem. I have had this problem with 2 different routers and modems so far. And i have 2 desktops and 2 laptops connected to this. 1 desktop is hooked straight into the router and the other 3 are wireless.

XAVB101 Netgear Power-line Adapter Not Working With AMD Llano HTPC

Jan 3, 2012

I have a NETGEAR XAVB101 Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter and an AMD Llano build HTPC which refuses to work with each other.

The power plug works well with my Gateway NV79 laptop and even my Intel Core i5 -2500K desktop, without any problems! I have also used it to connect to my Roku, Yamaha Network Receiver and other networked stuff and all worked great, just the HTPC seems to have issues connecting to the network!

The HTPC is AMD A6-3650 on a ECS FM1 A75 Mobo with Integrated Realtek RTL8111E Gigabit Ethernet Controller, which is what I am connecting the power plug to! Only the connection over the power line adapter does not work, it works great with both a connection directly from the router and with wireless!

The adapter has a 128 bit encryption push button security feature which I'm NOT using. When I connect it the HTPC tries to connect and fails and shows the network as connected to an unidentified network. My LAN drivers on the computer is all up-to-date!

WNR1000V2 / Latency Surges When Roommates Computer Turned On

Feb 14, 2011

I have Comcast cable going through a Netgear wireless router (WNR1000V2) with 2 PC's connected to it. (both desktops are wired directly to the router)When ever my computer is on and I game, I get a steady low latency ping, usually <50ms.But when my roommate turns on his PC, every 5-6 seconds or so I get a surge upto ~250ms.I disconnected the ethernet cable from his PC while I was gaming and the surging stopped and I had a very smooth connection. But as soon as I plugged it back up I started getting horrible ping. This leads me to believe that some program on his PC is interrupting the internet latency.

I am completely lost on how to track down what is sapping my internet. His PC is not running any bit torrent clients or P2P programs at all.We both are on a 2 month old copy of win7 x64.Are there any programs that I can use that would tell me what is using the internet to the point of lagging the whole network?

Cisco Wireless :: 1252 - WCS Reports AP Draws Low Power - With Correct Power Injector

Jul 21, 2011

I keep getting alerts from our WCS stating that our 1252s are drawing low power. Now I am aware that they require enhanced PoE (up to 20W) but as we only have standard PoE in that building we purchased the 1252 series power injectors to go with them.

However, even with the correct power injectors the WCS still reports the draws low power error.

Is this a bug? Running WCS 7.0.172 at the moment.

Forgot to say we are using the PWR-INJ4 and the injector status is enabled and you see the injector MAC address when you drill in to the AP status.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6500 - Power-Redundancy Mode Combined And Power Fail

Feb 28, 2011

I have a 6500 chassis with 2 power supplies. At the moment  I am using the default configuration:

power-redudancy mode redundant

The problem is that an inserted module is in "power deny" state due too insufficient power.

I know, that It's not a good idea to change into combined mode (loss of redundancy), but my customers requested this anyway.

So I will change to combined mode. So here's the 1 million dollar question: "Which modules will go into power deny, if one of my power supplies fails?"

The 6500 config guide states:

"Power supply is removed withredundancy disabled
• System log and syslog messages are generated.
• System power is decreased to the power capability of one supply.
• If there is not enough power for all previously powered-up modules, some modulesare powered down and marked as power-deny in the show power oper state field."

Well, do you know if there's any way to configure some kind of priority? E.g. I definetly don't want by 10Gig Module or WiSM module to be in power deny. Can i statically make sure, those module will be powered on for sure? Like: "power enable module slot_number" How is this calculated? Or is random?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750X Stand Alone Secondary Power Supply Act As Pool Of Power

In a stand alone 3750x switch configuration, can the secondary power supply only act as a redundant power supply (active/standby), or can it become a "pool" of power similar to power sharing mode for StackPower (somewhat active/active)?  I understand there is no stack involved here but I'm curious if this functionality is possible.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G V1 Disconnect Power From Router For About 15 Seconds / Plug It Back In

Apr 27, 2013

I have a Linksys WRT54G2 v1 router which is having a daily problem of connectiing to the Internet on my home wireless LAN. My temporary solution is to disconnect the power from the router for about 15 seconds and plug it back in .... and all is well.... at least for another day or so.The real problem is that instead of properly connecting to IPv4 address 192.168.1.100 ..... it randomly connects to Autoconfiguration IPv4 address 169.254.29.54 When this problem occurs the SSID list shows both my 192 connection as well as a public network with no Internet connection?

I've used this router for several years without a problem until I recently bought a new  Canon wireless MG5320 printer which initially had problems connecting to my LAN. After a telco with tech support the printer works fine but now I am now experiencing the Autoconfig address problem. My LAN consist of the WRT54G router, a Motorola cable modem, a Lenovo laptop running Win7 64bit, a Hp desktop running Win7 64bit  and the Canon wireless printer.
