Cisco Wireless :: WAP4410N Output Power Setting?

Oct 27, 2009

I have a WAP4410N and would like to turn down the power output below 100%.

It has a very strong signal, and is covering our small office and half the parking lot.

In the Administration Guide, under FAQs, it mentions a setting for output power but I cannot find this setting.

The SW version is 2.0.0.5, and that seems to be the latest version  - the file I downloaded is WAP4410N-fw-2.0.0.5-K9.img but I haven't installed it yet.

WNR1000v2 - Using A Different Power Adapter For Router?

Mar 20, 2012

I've lost the original power adapter that came with my wireless router (Netgear N150 Wireless Router WNR1000v2) and was wondering if it would be safe to use another power adapter with it instead. As long as the power adapter meets the the requirements of the router and fits, it should be okay to use, right? I'm just wanting to be safe before plugging it in. Don't want to damage anything.

Cisco Wireless :: 1602i APs - Power Injector Or Adapter?

Jan 28, 2013

We are planning a wireless network using the 1602i APs.  Some of our APs might or might not be within the 100m limit from the switches, so we'll be running them as repeaters instead.  Right now, we are planning on buying power injectors for everything, but I can't seem to find an answer to this question:

If I'm running an AP as a repeater (no ethernet running back to a switch), can it still receive power from a power injector and a short ethernet run between the injector and the AP?  Or will I need to use a power adapter?

Cisco Switches :: WAP4410N Set As Repeater And Not Connected To Gigabit Switch

Jun 30, 2012

From the broadband modem/router connected with a  Gigabit 8 port unmanaged switch.  Then, one WAP4410N is connected to the switch, wired connection for a distance of 90 meters.  WAP4410N is set as an access point to the area.  Then the second WAP4410N will be run as a repeater to the first WAP4410N.  My question is that, can we set the second WAP4410N as a repeater, without the need for it to be connected to the switch via ethernet cable.

XAVB101 Netgear Power-line Adapter Not Working With AMD Llano HTPC

Jan 3, 2012

I have a NETGEAR XAVB101 Powerline AV Ethernet Adapter and an AMD Llano build HTPC which refuses to work with each other.

The power plug works well with my Gateway NV79 laptop and even my Intel Core i5 -2500K desktop, without any problems! I have also used it to connect to my Roku, Yamaha Network Receiver and other networked stuff and all worked great, just the HTPC seems to have issues connecting to the network!

The HTPC is AMD A6-3650 on a ECS FM1 A75 Mobo with Integrated Realtek RTL8111E Gigabit Ethernet Controller, which is what I am connecting the power plug to! Only the connection over the power line adapter does not work, it works great with both a connection directly from the router and with wireless!

The adapter has a 128 bit encryption push button security feature which I'm NOT using. When I connect it the HTPC tries to connect and fails and shows the network as connected to an unidentified network. My LAN drivers on the computer is all up-to-date!

Cisco Switches :: SF-300-48P POE Is Power Cycling?

Dec 3, 2012

I have a SF-300-48P that is power cycling all POE ports (in use) exactly every 30 minutes. The other older cisco POE switches we were replacing did not have this issue. We have about 40 cisco SPA942 IP phones connected to it. Power consumption is about 175 watts total.

This is my second switch, previously tried a SG500X-48P with the same result.

how to stop it from cycling?

Cisco Wireless :: 802.11 WAP4410N To WAP4410N Backhaul Using N Protocol?

Apr 30, 2011

I have the following equipment:

Cisco 871W router
2x WAP 4410N APs running 2.0.3.3

I currently have 1 AP connected to the router via copper.  The AP to AP link is over 802.11.  I have attached a diagram reflecting the current topology.

The AP-to-AP link will come up utilizing B/G/N mixed mode; however, the connection is basically unusable.  About 30% of the traffic is dropped, while the packets that do make it have a consistently volatile latency, anywhere from 15 to 1500 ms. I have had success using G-only and B/G mixed.  The link is stable (I have had the best results with B/G).  The problem is, I didn't buy the 2nd 4410N to run the G protocol.  I would like to connect the APs running either B/G/N (hopefully negotiating to N) or N only.  I am wondering if there is a certain configuration I can utilize (perhaps using WDS repeater or bridge versus Wireless Client/Repeater?), or a firmware upgrade set for release that can make this happen for me.

Cisco Switches :: Power Save Feature Of SG 102-24 Can Be Disabled

Jul 17, 2011

Does the power save feature of the SG 102-24 can be disabled somehow ? Our college just purchased 24 of these switches. We are having a problem with the switches affecting some of our monitoring software (Vision from Nettop).Basically, the client pc's become invisible to the master station. I believe this is due to the ports doing an automatic shutoff.I know these switches are unmanaged, but I'm hoping they at least have some form of configurability. Right now our only option is to have an instructor cycle the power of the switch to get the client pc's visible again.

Cisco Switches :: SG300-28P - POE Power Drops Every Several Minutes

Sep 10, 2012

We have an SG300-28P which, at intervals between 5 and 30 minutes or so, drops power to all of its POE-powered ports and then immediately restores power. The switch logs nothing when this happens other than recording that the ports went down and back up, even with debug logging enabled. Non-POE ports are not affected.

When the problem started there were only four POE-powered devices on the switch and we are far under our power budget. (While testing I added a fifth device, see below.)

Not all combinations of devices cause the drops to occur -- specifically, it looks like having devices on ports near each other causes the drops. When the drops occur, the absent counters of all of the POE devices increment. I noticed this earlier thread here seemed similar: [URL]

but in that case, he got no power at all in the adjacent configurations, instead of having it drop every several minutes.

I'm running

sw06#sh ver
SW version    1.1.2.0 ( date  12-Nov-2011 time  23:34:26 )
Boot version    1.1.0.6 ( date  11-May-2011 time  18:31:00 )

Cisco Switches :: Not All SG300 Ports Supplying Inline Power?

Feb 26, 2012

Essentially, not all ports on our brand new SG300-28P switches provide Inline Power to our older 7900 series phones. I can connect the phone a couple ports down and it usually powers up, but not always. Often I can also connect an 802.3af device to one of the troublesome ports and it will received power, however I am noticing there are some ports that now refuse to supply PoE at all?

This is equipment that has been running perfectly fine for several years now, on C3524 PWR XL switches. I can also tell you that this is not isolated to one switch, but all 5 of our SG300 access switches. And, yes, the firmware has been updated to 1.1.2.0.

Cisco Switches :: SG 200-08 All LED Lights Flashing Green After Power Failure

May 5, 2012

Thinking back, about a month ago I updated the firmware (I can't check version at the moment). The switch has been working fine since then. Today I needed to move some power cables and the switch lost power. Now ALL of the LED lights are flashing green and I can't access the switch. I've tried setting a static IP on my laptop to 192.168.1.20, mask 255.255.255.0, and accessing the switch on 192.168.1.254, but there's no response. I've tried holding in the reset button for at least 30 seconds while the switch is powered on, AND while powering it on. None of that has worked. Also when I first power it on, the system LED flashes orange very quickly for a second or so, then all of the LEDS start flashing green.
