Frequent Lags And Disconnects With DSL?
Jan 17, 2013At our house we have Fast Access DSL through ATT. We are getting very frequent disconnects and lags. We have multiple devices running off of a single DSL modem/router. It has wireless and wired connections available. Our wireless devices disconnect as frequent as our wired devices do. We have called ATT many times. They have had us replace the DSL filters and did a line test outside our house which came back clear. However, when they run a line test while I am on the phone with them, they say they detect multiple errors on the line. We have replaced our DSL modem with a new one as well. It is a NETGEAR VersaLink Four Port Ethernet Wireless Gateway, Software VER:06.04.12. The self-diagnostics on the Modem come back clean with no problems detected. We get static on our phone line frequently as well.

Laptop Lags When Trying To Connect To The Network?
Mar 23, 2013We just upgraded our internet, which also meant installing a new WiFi router, and mostly it's working fine. The two desktops and two of the laptops in the house all play nicely with the new router, but the third one (an old Fujitsu Siemens AMILO La1703 running Vista Basic) mostly stops responding when I try to connect to the new network. Any other network works fine. I can't actually connect to them since I don't know the keys, but it doesn't affect the laptop. When I try to connect to our new network however, the network connection dialog boxes stops responding and if I try to restart Explorer I still can't open any network related settings or menus. Most of the other stuff works.
I have tried manually configuring the network with the SSID and network key, but the result was just that I couldn't open the network settings at all, even after a reboot, since it was already trying to connect. I have also tried booting up in network enabled safe mode, same thing happens. All drivers are the latest. If I connect it to the router with a cable everything works fine.
Two Computers Same Router / One Lags Other Doesn't
Jun 13, 2012We have one router and we plugged a second computer in. We first played Battlefield 3 and both had fine pings. Later, the original computer, which had always used this router was fine, BUT. The other computer began (I guess) to have problems. Diablo 3 and League of Legends had almost unplayable pings (well, around 200). In the meanwhile the other computer was playing BF3 with good pings.

Mar 20, 2011I bought the Dlink 655 about a week ago, it worked fine online via Wi-Fi for my Ps3 for the first few days, then after the first few days it started lagging. It will have little lag jumps every 5-10 seconds and it is really annoying and it really makes playing online impossible. Also it wont let me view videos through the internet on my Ps3, I never had this problem until I got this router

Apr 16, 2011I recently had hinges problems with my laptop and that hasn't been fixed yet. idk if its irrelevant or not. but anyway the Internet on my laptop keeps disconnecting and reconnecting and then staying disconnected for a while and then reconnects with limited activity. then i disconnect from it and reconnect and it takes over. 20mins to really connect again. i don't know why this problem is only with my laptop so it isn't the router. the other laptop and the desktop work just fine.

Since it has been replaced we have been having problems with our connection.We have 1 desktop and 2 laptops the desktop is connected to the modem. When we have both laptops running we can browse online okay but if one of the laptops starts downloading something or even loading a video or big web page the other laptops connection will not work it. It says its still connected and finds no problems but no pages will load. I also have problems when I download anything. If I begin downloading then on the same laptop I can not even browse the web while I'm Downloading.

One of these machines, the 'host', I want acting as the 'server' which holds all the shares etc.I have a security router which the 3 machines, and a printer are plugged into (via the lan ports). The host machine is also directly plugged in to this.That router hands out IP addresses to these machines using DHCP. Night before last, without warning, all 6 stopped connecting through the wireless router. May 13, 2011I have the Dlink DIR-655, Rev-A, HW 1.35NA Wireless Router Before you ask, I have reset the router to factory defaults, and reinstalled the latest firmware twice, most recently after trying everything else I could think of.I have Cable internet, ALWAYS using wireless, NEVER using wired except for the router installs, which worked just fine until I switched from my old D-Link router to this 655 one a few weeks ago.Now, very frequently, I will open ANY webpage, and the internet will lag, 5, sometimes 10 or 15 seconds and then suddenly it will work properly for a while... only to happen again a little while later - completely randomly it seems.I wired the router to the computer to check to see if the lagging still happened, and everything was fine.I am using a 1-year old Dell laptop, using Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 Bit, and the Network Adapter is Intel WIFI Link 5300 AGN with the most up to date driver confirmed. Under the Advanced Tab for the Laptop's Network Adapter, the settings are as follows:
802.11n CHannel Width for band 2.4 - Value: 20MHz Only
802.11n CHannel Width for band 2.4 - Value: Auto
802.11n Mode - Value: Enabled
There are a number of other settings which I am confident are not relevant, but happy to provide The last setting is: Wireless Mode - Value: 6. 802.11a/b/g In the DLink Configuration, the relevant settings are:

Under WAN, the Primary DNS Server numbers are showing and the Secondary DNS Server numbers are showing as 0.0.0.0 McAffee Anti-Virus is up to date and shows no viruses, nor to the Dlink Logs - McAffee Firewall is turned off, Enable SPI in Dlink Settings is turned on.this problem only occurred when I switched routers recently, the old DlInk router I had never had this issue. And I am using a completely different network name with this new router to avoid any conflicts there. And this problem does NOT occur when hardwiring the laptop to the router directly, it only happens via wireless.Storage of the router is fine, it is in the same spot as the old router was, not to hot, not too cold, it didn't eat any metal for breakfast and there are no MRI machines within 10 miles.

Dec 30, 2011I have a belkin wireless router/modem running our home network. We connect using 3 android devices, a wii and wireless printer with no problems. However, when connecting using either a windows 7 or windows XP laptop the internet connection is lost after a couple of minutes. I can't work out the cause of the problem but resetting the router gives a couple of minutes of browsing before it goes again. I have tried using static IP addresses for the laptops but this hasn't worked, furthermore I have tried a winsch reset.

Feb 16, 2011I had to reboot my Dir 655 because my 2 wireless laptops wouldn't connect to the internet. Once I reset all of my static IP settings in the dlink admin tool the wireless laptops work fine. The problem now is that I can't connect to the internet on the computer that is hard wired into the router. I recall once before having to adjust the TCP/IP settings in the Network settings, but don't remember exactly what it was the I had to do.

Jun 13, 2012My Main computer (which has a wired connection to router) internet is running so slow, i mean so slow that i cannot even do a speed test, it keeps failing, im continuously getting server timed out messages when browsing, and to watch a youtube video of 1 minute long it will take about 5 - 10 minutes to stream it before i can watch it. However despite the above the two laptops and ipad work great, i have a braodband speed of around 16megs. Now here is everything i have done so far. After calling my ISP to se if it was their fault, which it turned out not to be, they got me to change all the DNS and IP settings to manual, they gave me all the numbers to put in. Again that did not work so i used namebench to find the quickest DNS servers for me, that didnt work ethier so i just reverted all settings back to automatic as they were before.
