I bought the Dlink 655 about a week ago, it worked fine online via Wi-Fi for my Ps3 for the first few days, then after the first few days it started lagging. It will have little lag jumps every 5-10 seconds and it is really annoying and it really makes playing online impossible. Also it wont let me view videos through the internet on my Ps3, I never had this problem until I got this router
View 1 RepliesI have the Dlink DIR-655, Rev-A, HW 1.35NA Wireless Router Before you ask, I have reset the router to factory defaults, and reinstalled the latest firmware twice, most recently after trying everything else I could think of.I have Cable internet, ALWAYS using wireless, NEVER using wired except for the router installs, which worked just fine until I switched from my old D-Link router to this 655 one a few weeks ago.Now, very frequently, I will open ANY webpage, and the internet will lag, 5, sometimes 10 or 15 seconds and then suddenly it will work properly for a while... only to happen again a little while later - completely randomly it seems.I wired the router to the computer to check to see if the lagging still happened, and everything was fine.I am using a 1-year old Dell laptop, using Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 Bit, and the Network Adapter is Intel WIFI Link 5300 AGN with the most up to date driver confirmed. Under the Advanced Tab for the Laptop's Network Adapter, the settings are as follows:
802.11n CHannel Width for band 2.4 - Value: 20MHz Only
802.11n CHannel Width for band 2.4 - Value: Auto
802.11n Mode - Value: Enabled
There are a number of other settings which I am confident are not relevant, but happy to provide The last setting is: Wireless Mode - Value: 6. 802.11a/b/g In the DLink Configuration, the relevant settings are:
802.11 Mode: Mixed 802.11N and 802.11G
Wireless Channel is on 10, so as not to use the most common "11"
Channel Width Auto 20/40MHz

Under WAN, the Primary DNS Server numbers are showing and the Secondary DNS Server numbers are showing as 0.0.0.0 McAffee Anti-Virus is up to date and shows no viruses, nor to the Dlink Logs - McAffee Firewall is turned off, Enable SPI in Dlink Settings is turned on.this problem only occurred when I switched routers recently, the old DlInk router I had never had this issue. And I am using a completely different network name with this new router to avoid any conflicts there. And this problem does NOT occur when hardwiring the laptop to the router directly, it only happens via wireless.Storage of the router is fine, it is in the same spot as the old router was, not to hot, not too cold, it didn't eat any metal for breakfast and there are no MRI machines within 10 miles.
We have one router and we plugged a second computer in. We first played Battlefield 3 and both had fine pings. Later, the original computer, which had always used this router was fine, BUT. The other computer began (I guess) to have problems. Diablo 3 and League of Legends had almost unplayable pings (well, around 200). In the meanwhile the other computer was playing BF3 with good pings.

When I go to get a list of servers when playing games online, my router lights up and then crashes, and I cant get on the internet again until I exit the game. Although, some games do work. There are no problems with my firewall, and if I connect directly to my modem, I can play fine.
I just installed two FPS games.. My router reboot every time those game search for servers list. ( So i can't actually play those games) I have a dir-601 n-150 dlink router. I have successfully played online with another connection. I tried opening some ports, but it didn't work. The firmware is up to date.

I have a dlink cable modem and dlink dir-655 router. When the router is first turned on or a setting is changed any/all of the computers here can connect to the Ultima Online game server for login but within a few minutes most will not be able to. Its as if they are being refused a connection to login.owo.com (I think that is where they connect to). 1 maybe 2 computers can still connect but its fickle and can't know which 1 or 2 it will be or for how long.any computers already connected to a game server are fine its just the ones trying to login after the router has been running for a few minutes. My first assumption 2 days ago when this happened with my dlink gaming router was that the router developed a problem but now with a new router its still happening. The problem started when I re-enabled the wireless on my gaming router and when I noticed the problem I re-disabled the wireless but the problem persists. A new modem (the DIR-655) did not work...
View 10 Replies View RelatedAt our house we have Fast Access DSL through ATT. We are getting very frequent disconnects and lags. We have multiple devices running off of a single DSL modem/router. It has wireless and wired connections available. Our wireless devices disconnect as frequent as our wired devices do. We have called ATT many times. They have had us replace the DSL filters and did a line test outside our house which came back clear. However, when they run a line test while I am on the phone with them, they say they detect multiple errors on the line. We have replaced our DSL modem with a new one as well. It is a NETGEAR VersaLink Four Port Ethernet Wireless Gateway, Software VER:06.04.12. The self-diagnostics on the Modem come back clean with no problems detected. We get static on our phone line frequently as well.

I bought and hooked up my DCS-930L camera last week. Have since traveled overseas and go to Mydlink website, log-in and then it tries to install a java applet that never does install. It shows the security box where it asks me to run and then it shows another security box with a message: java.io.FileNotFoundException:C:usersmynameAppDataLocalLowSunJavaDeploymentsecurity rusted.certs(Access is denied)
I click ok and the java applet never loads. It just keeps saying Installing Java Applet.
We just upgraded our internet, which also meant installing a new WiFi router, and mostly it's working fine. The two desktops and two of the laptops in the house all play nicely with the new router, but the third one (an old Fujitsu Siemens AMILO La1703 running Vista Basic) mostly stops responding when I try to connect to the new network. Any other network works fine. I can't actually connect to them since I don't know the keys, but it doesn't affect the laptop. When I try to connect to our new network however, the network connection dialog boxes stops responding and if I try to restart Explorer I still can't open any network related settings or menus. Most of the other stuff works.
I have tried manually configuring the network with the SSID and network key, but the result was just that I couldn't open the network settings at all, even after a reboot, since it was already trying to connect. I have also tried booting up in network enabled safe mode, same thing happens. All drivers are the latest. If I connect it to the router with a cable everything works fine.
my laptop is lagging on all fronts when connected to the interweb and i have no idea why, i dont know what specs you would need in order to diagnose but heres the spec page

B1/Firmware 2.02NA) and i wanna connect my ps3 to the 5ghz for online gaming but i cannot find the option for it. also when scanning on my iPod Touch and PS3 for a wireless connection i cannot find the SSID that i named for 5ghz and the only one that shows up is the other SSID i named for 2.4ghz.(both SSID are not the same name). is it really worth switching from 2.4ghz to 5ghz?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have tried everything I can think of but since purchasing my 615-N router from DLink, I haven't been able to get online via wireless internet from another computer in this apartment. The router seems to be working fine - I have a LAN connection through it to this computer I'm on now and the PS3 hooked up to the wireless signal just fine. It is the one desktop computer though. The only thing I can think of is that I am using an old g adapter. I didn't think this would matter because the N router can supposedly communicate with g and b devices.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have playon and the online bandwidth is showing slow. I did speedtest and it shows 20mbps, but the playon says below 2. No windows (7) security is enabled and avast is turned off. i rebooted and get the same results.I also cannot do any updates for my windows 7. I try and it says that it cannot do the update. I check the logs and all of the updates were done fine up to when I installed the 655; now it doesn't work.
Playon support says check network, which I have done, and the only thing left is the 655.

For 2 of the vlans i would like to connect them together between the two switches using LAG. Switch1 has Vlan 5 (ports 1-12) & Vlan 10 (Ports 25-36) with LAG configured on ports 1-2 and ports 25-26. I have setup the second switch identical to the first. But when i connect the LAG's there is no connectivty. If i disconnect one LAG the other starts working.Can you only have i interconnect LAG between switches?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem running Airplay through the wireless on my W881. It runs okay if the computer i run it from, does nothing else, but if i try to do light browsing or anything like that it starts to fall out and lag. Its like it is not prioritizing the stream at all.
My setup is a w881 running as edge router and i got an Airport express running through a 2950 switch. Airplay runs perfect if i run it through the Airport express or my previous Edge router (Linksys WRT54g). Ofcourse it also runs perfect through the wired network. I shut down all other wireless networks but my w881, because i only want one wireless. And no i dont want to run wireless on the Airport express.
i played around with the Dot11Radio0 interface setting "packet retries 128 drop-packet" and the packet "max-retries". I thought that maybe if i set max-retries to something low, it wouldnt fall out if it has some problems with one packet, it would just continue...
I've tried (resetting the router, power cycling everything, MAC cloning, disabling UPnP, changing RTS, fragmentation, and beacon settings, etc) have worked.When I hook up the router I can see the wireless signal with my laptop, but the link light on the modem stays off and I can't get online with either computer. (If I switch things so that the computer is hooked to the "internet" port on the router and the modem is connected to one of the four other router ports the link light blinks like it was online, but doesn't actually work.) When I go to the router status I get all zeros.

I got a new isp today and it worked with a new modem connected with a wire .. When I connected the router it wouldn't find the network so i connected the modem again with just the wire and it still won't go online.

I plugged the ethernet cable directly from the modem to the computer and everything was fine, so I reset the router, reconnected it to the modem, and went to the setup page 192.168.1.1. I reconfigured the router on the setup page, leaving all previous settings the same (except I renamed the network from linksys to our own name and reconfirmed the WPA Personal password). My isp is bt and I have a black home hub v2, the problem with this router is that it does not like doing dmz or port forwarding for that matter very successfuly, apparently the new router I have bought is much better at these things.So I'm trying to figure out if its best for me to buy a modem to go with this router or to configure the hh to work as a modem only. The Zyxel modem connects to my NETGEAR router. When I play online either wireless or wired from the Netgear modem I have major connection issue.However, if I disconnect from the netgear modem and connect from the Zyxel directly to the ps3 I have zero problems.

The linksys e1200 router which had worked perfectly fine before the new modem has decided to not allow me to connect online. Sometimes it says im connected to internet but web browser does not connect, sometimes it says no internet access. I have no idea what i am doing so im not sure if it is a modem or router issue. I have done full reboots of both and powered on correctly. plugging in the modem into ports 1-3 do not light up the modems ports lights, only port 4 seems to light up when plugged in however computers light up all the ports when hard wired to E1 - E4.i also downloaded the latest firmware update for the linksys e1200 router.All fire walls are shut off and no WEP ( we live in middle of nowhere so a key is not needed )
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing dropping connection and can't play online games because of extreme lag. when pinging certain sites here is the results at the bottom. so very extremely high ping. then after a while like 5 mins, when i hover my mouse cursor at the network icon it says limited access and i don't have any internet connection, even powercycling doesn't work. it stays like that. when using direct connection to the modem only it works fine. but when using the wrt120n router i experience that problem either wired or wireless it stays the same. My firmware is latest, router settings default.
