Aug 4, 2011I have a wireless network in a 2 storey house. The internet access and 1 WRT54GS router is on the 1st floor (using frequency channel 11). The wireless single doesn't do very well on the second floor unless there is a device with a strong antenna. I recently purchased a WET610N Bridge and I have an extra WRT54GS (using frequency channel 1).
I would like to be able to add wireless to the 2nd floor by attaching the extra router to the bridge which would wirelessly connect to the router with the internet.

Aug 16, 2011My DSL Modem connected right now to Linksys Model: WRT600N (Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router) to give a wireless internet access in my house. I have TWO spare Linksys Wireless Router (WRT350N-Wireless-N Gigabit Router) and (WRT54G2-Wireless-G Broadband Router) that I need to use to expand my wireless network at home.
How can i connect the two routers to became an access point or range expander to existing router. It is possible the two spare routers became an access pt or expander? How can i configure that? Cable configuration?

Router says "Invalid IP address" when I try to make a manual IP address reservation of the IP address range.
Example: local network 192.168.1.0/24, where .1 is a router, .2 is a reservation, .20-.50 is a range for DHCP.
Before upgrade I didn't have this problem.

Jan 8, 2012On the D-Link it was easy, I can see who is connected to which radio.But I can't figure out how to see who is connected to WiFi on hte E4200?I run several access points in my house, and I need to make sure htey are all working.If I can't see who, if any, is connected, I have no idea if WiFi on the E4200 is working.

My hardwired machine returns the expected data, any call from a device connected via my wireless network returns a page can not be displayed. Jan 8, 2013I've noticed that my E4200v2 Smart-Wifi cloud doesn't show all the devices that are connected to my router.To test, last night we turned on EVERYTHING....4 iPod Touches, 2 Xbox's, 1 Blu-ray player connected to Netflix, 1 Directly receiver, 4 laptops,1 desktop,1 iPhone, and made sure all of them were connected to the Wi-fi and actually streaming / downloading/playing something the Smart WiFi only recognized about half of them as being connected. I rebooted the router and it picked up a few more but never accounted for all the devices connected.
If you can't account for all the devices connected to your network, setting-up up reliable Parental Controls is almost impossible.Very disappointed and about ready to start looking for another brand of router. Sad, as I've been with Cisco/Linksys for over a decade and been very satisfied in the past.

Jan 21, 2012I just found a slightly unsettling bug in the E4200v2 (running the latest firmware 2.0.36 build 126507).Administration > Local Management Access > Access via Wireless ... set to DISABLED. HOWEVER, when I attempted to access the web interface on a handy iPAD I had absolutely no problem getting through to the web interface (after providing username and passsword).Limiting access to wired clients seems like a simple a prudent measure ... which is why this option is there for the paranoid among us.This seems like a black-and-white bug.

Dec 27, 2012Is there any way to make networks hidden through the WiFi Smart software? I have a Cisco Linksys E4200V2. I have gone through everything to try figure out how to make my S.S.I.D. to not be broadcasted, but seems like the only way to make it hidden is to use the Origonal Firmware make it as hidden, then install the New Firmware and software. Seems like Cisco may have missed this option. I do know a lot of people would prefer their Networks hidden for a little security. I know it isn't much, cause if someone wants to get that info it's not hard to get it. But for people who don't know or don't want to waste all the time to find the Hidden Network name can be turned away, for going through that extra step.

May 7, 2012I'm currently using my Acer Aspire x1700 desktop computer running Windows 8. It's connected to my router via Ethernet and gets about 25mb/sec. The problem is, my router can only broadcast the signal to my two front rooms and all of the rooms of the level it's on (Living Room, Sun Room, & Kitchen). All of my devices get full signal in these rooms. The holidays are coming up, so people are going to start bringing cellphones, tablets, gaming devices, etc into my house. My room is about 24 ft away from it (My 2nd floor is 8.5 ft above the 1st). In my room, my laptop, a Dell Inspriron running Windows 7, got about 13mb/sec. But as soon as I walk into the next room, which is about 8 ft away, the signal becomes very spotty on my iPod touch/iPad. My laptop can pick up about 2 bars, and so can my Grandma's HP. If I move another 2 feet into my mom's room my iPod Touch/iPad gets one bar, my laptop still gets two, but it's very slow and spotty. My iPod touch/iPad gets a kind of weak signal in my room.

Jul 6, 2011I have a netgear CVG834G main router, were my desktop is plugged on to.I pulled a new cable trough the house and garage to have internet access on the other side (cable length is about 80 meters).After the 80meters of cable I placed a Linksys WRT54GS v5.1 router. The problem is that I can connect to the Linksys, but the Linksys can�t connect to the netgear. On the Linksys the internet LED is blinking very slowly (what does this mean?). So first I thought that the cable was broken or too long. I tested the cable => not broken. I connected the Linksys with the netgear trough a shorter cable and then connected my laptop via the long cable (80meter) and this works perfectly.Is the maximum distends a netgear can take less than 80 meters? (thought is was 100meter ).

DHCP Server is not enabled on the RV016. We currently have a Windows 2003 Server that is acting as Exchange Server, Active Diretory, and DHCP Server. My issue is that we are running out of IP addresses and I have about 20 or so left to assign. Given the above setting can I make changes to my RV016 to give me more than 256 addresses? If yes what do I need to do and do I need to make any changes on Windows Server?

Jan 11, 2013I have a static IP on the ATA (Linksys PAP-2T) ...the router will only pick it up occasionally...most times it does not. The ATA is on and working (I can call in/out) but I can't see how the router can't find/see it. I have added the ATA to the DHCP reseve list but still nothing. I have the port fowarded for the ATA but when I go to canyouseeme.org it comes up as "Connection timed out"...becuase I think it can't see the ATA behind the Router.

I want to be ablt to use a specific DNS server rather than the one issues by my ISP.No matter what values are in the Static DNS 1, 2 and 3 the router continues to pull a DNS from my ISp. My POS old D-link 615 was able to utilize a custom DNS server with no issues so surely ther emyst be a way to do the same on the E4200.

My current set-up:
E4200v2: 5ghz - Wireless-N only (SSID home-n), 2.4ghz - Wireless-B/G only (SSID home-g)
PLWK400: SSID home-ext (separate part of the home)
I am using WPA2 Personal security if that makes a different. One question would it be "better" to have the same SSID for all 3 wireless settings (5ghz, 2.4ghz, and PLWK400)? Would the various devices know which frequency to switch to for best speed and range?
