View 1 RepliesI'm having problems with a linux box we're using as a VPN/IPtables firewall. The setup is such that we're sitting this thing behind a basic Comcast cable modem will all the pass through options set. The outside facing interface is set to DHCP and grabs an IP address from Comcast. Inside interface is statically set with the same being said for the CIPE interface. The inside interface works until we plug up the outside. When we plug up the outside interface, all network traffic to the box effectively shuts down and the /var/log/messages is flooded with "neighbor table overflow" messages. Sometimes, this takes a few seconds to appear, and when that happens I can track some traffic hitting the far side of the tunnel, I.E. it works for a few fleeting seconds.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 3 switches in my 3750 X stack. I am getting the following error in the logs: %PLATFORM_STACKPOWER-4-PRIO_CONFLICT: Switch 1's power stack has conflicting power priorities. Not sure what I should do next. Below is my Stack-power configuration:
Power stack name: Powerstack-1 Stack mode: Power sharing Stack topology: Ring Switch 1: Power budget: 735 Low port priority value: 20 High port priority value: 10 Switch priority value: 2 Port 1 status: Connected Port 2 status: Connected Neighbor on port 1: c464.1308.7900 Neighbor on port 2: e8b7.4827.e680
Switch 3: Power budget: 729 Low port priority value: 22 High port priority value: 13 Switch priority value: 4 Port 1 status: Connected Port 2 status: Connected Neighbor on port 1: 2894.0fd9.9f00 Neighbor on port 2: 2894.0fd8.e200
Switch 2: Power budget: 690 Low port priority value: 21 High port priority value: 12 Switch priority value: 3 Port 1 status: Connected Port 2 status: Connected Neighbor on port 1: 2894.0fd8.e200 Neighbor on port 2: c464.1308.7900
Each switch has its own 715W power supply in it and all check out OK.
A site that i am responsible for has the following equipment installed:
2 x 3750G Switches configured as a stack using Stackwise - Collapsed Core/Distribution Layer
5 x 2960G Switches as Access Layer switches
WAN connections into the Core/Distribution Layer are all Gigabit Ethernet over Fibre. This is a dedicated CCTV Network with 50 Cameras all streaming video into the Core (decoders connected to access switches)Each 2960G has 2 links to the Core/Distribution 3750G Switches, 1 to each switch - Gigabit.I'm running rapid-pvst on all switches, so spanning tree is blocking one of the ports and effectively halving the 2 gig bandwidth. Next year our customer is going to add in a further 50 - 60 cameras. After monitoring the current loading on the ports in use, we have suggested to the customer that the 2 connections to each should be Ether-channeled together. [code]
First interface takes commands no problem, keep getting the message that etherchannel cannot be configured across different switches in a stack when i try to put the second interface commands on.
We currently have as our stack master a 24 port Non-PoE that we want to replace with a 48 port Non-PoE. The 48 port switch at one time was provisioned as switch 3 in the stack (not the master). Correct me if I am wrong, but theoretically all I should need to do to get this working is to shut off the existing master so it re-elects a master and then provision the 48 port switch as the new switch one and make sure switch 1 has a high priority?
Do I need to write erase the switch that is replacing the current master first?
I have a cisco 3750v2-48TS connected to a cisco 3750v2-48PS in a stack. The stack ports show up as down/down in the stack. Is there a limitation as to if they can be connected.? I mean can we have a PoE and a non PoE in the stack?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe reason is i want to know the difference between the leased line and the DSL line. The whole thing behind the confusion is, We plan to have a high speed internet connection in our office. We will don't have a branch office or some thing like that. I preffered to have high speed internet in our office. I found in some website that Lease line will have high speed connectivity(Upto 10Gbps). Can i use the lease line or DSL is enough for our office. Our office contains of 82 user who will use internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have multiple computers (most Win7), game console, iPad,iPod etc on our network, networking was really never a problem. We switched a few weeks ago to mobile Internet, which uses the Netgear MBR1210 modem/router as network access point for all devices. All network users, except two or three, are wireless. Prior to getting the mobile Internet we were on Satellite ISP and used the Linksys 3200 router as access point/network router for our home network (behind the ISP modem). The Netgear modem/router is too far away from my work area in the home, things like my printer, a desktop tower need to be plugged into a router because they are not wireless. The plan is to have the netgear router set up just as a modem/server, turn the wireless off on it, pull one network cable to my Linksys 3200 and use the Linksys as network access point for all devices. Which settings do I have to have on each router to do this? Where do I plug the network cable in between the routers? Do I go from a Lan port on the Netgear to the Wan port on the Linksys?
Which IP settings do I specify? How do I turn the automatic configuration of the Linksys off? Needless to say, I'm a bit lost here. I had contacted a Netgear forum prior, they gave me a little picture on how everything should be hooked up and the settings, but the Linksys router just did not want to work with these settings at all. Secondly, because of all this screwing around with the settings of the Linksys.I uninstalled the cisco connect program for the linksys and removed the original network we had with the linksys. Now the program refuses to install again, cisco connect that is.

My grandma has a PC with Windows XP, she uses it only for Skype calls. can go in to her PC using command line from my PC? What commands should I use and what modifications to do on my grandma's PC? Should I ask permission from grandma's ISP (which is the same as mine)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently have DSL and I have my router connected to the phone line in my home office and have 3 computers (2 business & 1 gaming) connected to the router via ethernet cable, works great. What I want to do is take the gaming computer to the game room in the basement and hook it up to the internet down there. Since it's a gaming computer I want to connect it to a router with ethernet cable for the fastest possible upload and download speeds (I do not want to use WiFi because I play flight sims and FPS and WiFi is too slow/laggy for online play).
1. Can I connect a second router into the phone/DSL line in the basement then hook up the gaming computer to the second router and get internet access like I have in the home office?
2. If I ran an ethernet cable from the home office router to a second router in the basement, would the long length of the ethernet cable adversely affect the connection speed (bit rate) of the second router? (would I get slower internet access in the basement?)
Would one phone line be able to support two ISPs? The rest of my family is using an AT&T line and I'm less than amused with it's performance for 4+ people. I have an unused phone jack available but I'm concerned about ordering the installation package only to find that I need a new phone line)

However, my sister is round at the moment and the crap router cannot reach her room or the lounge.I thought I would be able to connect a spare router to a phone line port in the lounge with the correct settings along with the original router. However, if one router works, the other stops working. Only.one router will connect to the ISP at any time, I want both to so that we can all use the internet.

Network1 (home): wireless Router connected to ADSL#1, with 2 wired pcs
Network2 (neighbor): wireless Router connected to ADSL#2 (this network is only accessible by wireless in one room, i can't take a cable from this router)
One of my branch offices is connected to an ADSL line as well as a VDSL line.Since I really don't need the ADSL line I came up with the idea to use it as a backup line.So I searched google and found this nice little article URL. I wonder if the router will switch back to the primary ISP if the primary line comes up again?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn a house that is too large for a small wireless modem to send a signal far enough, is it possible to use a second modem in the same phone line (not at the same time). Filters are used in the spare phone jacks. My main question is: when modem A is being used and modem B is switched off, is it necessary for the splitter for modem B to be removed and the filter put in its place? Or is the fact that modem B is switched off sufficient? I suspect that it's necessary and that's why my friend gets very slow download speeds even when the other modem is off.She insists that it used to work but I think she was just lucky if it used to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was working on a problem the other day and came across something that I had seen before but never given much thought. I had a router with a switch connected to it and the interface was showing as Ethernet0 is up, line protocol is down. The problem in the end turned out to be a cable that had fell out because it was not connected correctly, but I was able to replicate this interface status on a router (FastEthernet0/0 is up, line protocol is down), and NO cable was attached to the interface.I've had a look on the internet but cant seem to find a good answer, so does anybody else know why this status is shown on the router? Remember, NO cable is connected to the interface so it isn't a speed or duplex problem
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am installing an LED digital sign. The sign is 200 feet away from the controlling computer which has a sending card. The sign has a recieving card inside. Probably not a bright idea at this long distance, but I ran the cat 5 along with the 12/2 power line to the sign. When firing up the sign, the recieving card in the sign is not getting data. I tried it again with another cat5 seperated by ten feet or more from the power line, and still no communication. My question is, could the radiation from the 120v line have penetrated the cat 5 and basically fried the receiving card?
