View 1 RepliesI have a WRT54G router, and when I am in the security area, where you choose WPA, WEP, etc... I keep clicking the dropdown menu, and when I choose anything BUT disable, the security auto-sets back to disable. I have rebooted the router. I have rebooted the modem. I have changed my router's password. How do I turn my WEP back on without it just saying. Also, for additional notation, my US light on my modem is no longer green, it is orange since this issue has occured. Is there any connection that might be related to this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFirmware 1.0.00 on my E4200 Hardware v1.0 provided a functioning 6to4 tunnel through Comcast's 6to4 facility. Windows and Linux clients on my local network discovered IPv6 addresses and were able to use them successfully.Unfortunately, after the upgrade to 1.0.03 this functionality was gone. I missed reading the ChangeLog, which said that the automatic tunneling feature was removed in 1.0.01. The now provided IPv6 functionality works much less well. First, automatic configuration (discovery of the 6to4 via IPv4 anycast) no longer works with Comcast's gateway. If I configure the tunnel manually, by specifying a 2002/16 prefix, I regain IPv6 connectivity, but only for Linux clients on my local network.
Windows 7 clients suffer from the problem that because the E4200 hands out ULA addresses, they end up preferring those ULA addresses when making global IPv6 connections in the IP 'source' field, which of course does not work. It's like putting your company mailbox code as the return address on a letter you send via US Mail. Other home routers, such as the AVM Fritz! (url,...) suffer from the same problem. However, they provide an option to turn off ULA at the router. Is it possible to turn off ULA for the E4200?
If the wifi can be turned off on the E1500. I got this unit from a family member and do not need the wifi part, as I have two computers, but are in the same room. I have the cisco connect on my computer and do not see a disable wifi in the program anywhere.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had enough of BT's shoddy Home Hub router dying whenever I transfer large files over wifi so I want to go back to a trusty Linksys and I'm looking at the WAG320N.
I've got a family member who is convinced wifi is harmful, so to avoid an argument I've agreed to switch it off at night. My last Linksys let me do this via a custom firmware, but the WAG320N isn't a Linux based model. So, my question is: can I set wifi to switch itself off at night from e.g. 11pm until 8am? Preferably this will be an actual switch-off rather than just preventing access via certain wifi devices.
If it can't do it, any alternative Linksys ADSL2+ modem that can?
My WRT610n went out today for no apparent reason. All of my other peripherals are still running, but the router won't turn on. I've tried different transformers, outlets and powerstrips, with no luck -- no power. I've also tried a hard reset on it, with no luck.

I think it was when I was setting up using the old interface, before updating the firmware, that I set it to *not* broadcast the network name. View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently switched my router from an older Linksys WRT 54GS to an E3000. The WRT 54GS was working perfectly fine, but I needed to upgrade to a 802.11n router to use with some of my devices at home. I unplugged all the cables from the WRT54GS, and connected all the cables into the E3000 - in the exact same sockets and order they were on the old router. When powering on, all the lights eventually turned on (Power, Internet and Ports 1 to 4), except the wifi is still off. I tried running the installation CD, but it says it cannot find the network. I tried a reset (back button) as well as 30-30-30 reset, but no matter what I do, the wifi indicator still doesn't turn on. When switching back to the old router, it has no problem broadcasting a wifi signal again. Is there anything else I should try, either on my PC settings or the E3000 router itself?

I've been having trouble with my wrt54gs2 and 4 360's. I tried a link someone posted for me to a cisco tutorial, it worked, but only for one 360. I have a Netgear wndr3400, I HATE the wireless on that router. Its unreliable but I like the features, the guest network and transfer meter, plus its worked with 4 360's out of the box. So would it be possible to turn off my wifi on the Netgear and plug the wrt54gs2 in and use its wireless?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried to log in into my EA4500 today, and instead of the simple window that asks for the user name and password, I am getting a Cisco Connect Cloud log in screen. It is very strange.
At the top it says: Cisco Connect Cloud/Powering Linksys Products
and below that:
Sign In If you have not yet created an account, click the 'Create Account' button in the upper right corner of the page
There is a help button, a button to create an account. There is a place where I can enter an email address and a password.
Pressing the Help button I learned that I can probably bypass this silly screen by disconnecting the internet. Is there a better way to bypass this screen and turn off Cisco Connect Cloud?
I'm looking to upgrade my WRT54G as I have had NO luck in getting my Galaxy Tab to connect through it so far (can connect and get an IP address but can't get out to the web) and have had intermittent problems with my Blu-ray lately. I am looking for something with the best affordable range, live 3 floors down from the current one and get about 3/4 signal strength so there's not much interference it seems. I watch a lot of online content through Hulu, Netflix, and LMB games and share with 2 other people.I am looking at the E series, probably the E1200, 1500 or 1550 as they seem to meet my needs. Any users have any advice about the ease of install and use of either of these? Or would it be better to get a gateway as we are considering going from DSL to U-verse service, twice the speed for $2/month more
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT300N Linksys Router and I have not been very happy with it's performance. I know it's old now, but the final straw was when I started to need UPNP and the router keeps turning it off. I can only get it to work for an hour or so at a time by rebooting the router. Then after some time my device tells me UPNP is not working again. I saw some articles about this and tried several fixes, and I am beyond caring whether it works with UPNP anymore. I bought a NetGear N600 to replace it and so far it is working great. I had a linksys WRT54G years ago and it was a workhorse, never had any issues and it is still working today at a friend's house. I have had several Linksys routers since and have had nothing but bad luck. So I am giving Netgear a try.
Anyway... Now I have the Netgear router working I want to use the linksys to extend my wireless network. I ran a cable to the other side of my house where the wireless signal was not so good and plugged the cable into a LAN port on the WRT300N router. I then disabled the the firewall settings and DHCP, etc. I turned off UPNP (Not that I needed to, but I figured it would start working since I don't need it now and cause issues) I also turned off NAT. But I have an app that is telling me that I have 2 devices doing NAT on my network and the app doesn't like it.
how I can for SURE turn off NAT on the WRT300N router? I am getting ready to just go get another Netgear device and take the Linksys one out Office Space style.
i got this wireless router (linksys version WRT54G) from my aunt but she can't find the disc for it. is there a way to use it without buying anything (this is mainly for my wii), if so how?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an old wireless router lying behind me and I want to use that old router as a switch. That old router is a knock-off,no-name router brand called "Gigafast" and the model number is WF19-CAPR. There are also variants to that router name as well. The router that I currently have is a Linksys WRT54G wireless-G router. I'm planning to upgrade the wireless router in favor of Wireless-N in the near future.I want to know how can I use that particular Gigafast router as a switch and I want to link that router up to my WRT54G router. The scenario goes as follows:
Cable internet connection ----> WRT54G router ---> Gigafast router (as a switch)
The IP address for the WRT54G router is 192.168.1.1, while the Gigafast router is 192.168.1.254. I may know by now that I have to disable DHCP on the gigafast router and I have to change an IP address to something that is "not in range" with the WRT54G router, am I right?I want to expand the number of ports, so I can connect with future devices such as a VoIP ATA adapter, a laptop and possibly an entertainment box (i.e. Apple TV or Boxee box)
I have lost the start-up cd for my router, where to find a downloadable one so i can hook up my router.
