But, my clients connected to the router (whether wired or wireless), do not get authenticated, so I can't get anywhere with them. Should I make the modem be the source of DHCP?

The problem is now that when it is all hooked together our phones doesn't work, just dead that is, neither does the router. The router westell A90 from Century Tell works with a dual plug in, a DSL filter, the plug has one side for the phone line and the other for the DSL modem, in other words the westell router cannot be directly connected to the phone line.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFirmware 1.0.00 on my E4200 Hardware v1.0 provided a functioning 6to4 tunnel through Comcast's 6to4 facility. Windows and Linux clients on my local network discovered IPv6 addresses and were able to use them successfully.Unfortunately, after the upgrade to 1.0.03 this functionality was gone. I missed reading the ChangeLog, which said that the automatic tunneling feature was removed in 1.0.01. The now provided IPv6 functionality works much less well. First, automatic configuration (discovery of the 6to4 via IPv4 anycast) no longer works with Comcast's gateway. If I configure the tunnel manually, by specifying a 2002/16 prefix, I regain IPv6 connectivity, but only for Linux clients on my local network.
Windows 7 clients suffer from the problem that because the E4200 hands out ULA addresses, they end up preferring those ULA addresses when making global IPv6 connections in the IP 'source' field, which of course does not work. It's like putting your company mailbox code as the return address on a letter you send via US Mail. Other home routers, such as the AVM Fritz! (url,...) suffer from the same problem. However, they provide an option to turn off ULA at the router. Is it possible to turn off ULA for the E4200?
If the wifi can be turned off on the E1500. I got this unit from a family member and do not need the wifi part, as I have two computers, but are in the same room. I have the cisco connect on my computer and do not see a disable wifi in the program anywhere.

I keep clicking the dropdown menu, and when I choose anything BUT disable, the security auto-sets back to disable. I have rebooted the router. I have rebooted the modem. I have changed my router's password. How do I turn my WEP back on without it just saying. I think it was when I was setting up using the old interface, before updating the firmware, that I set it to *not* broadcast the network name. Now I feel like I've been all through the menus twice on the Smart Wi-Fi interface, and can't find the on/off toggle.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently switched my router from an older Linksys WRT 54GS to an E3000. The WRT 54GS was working perfectly fine, but I needed to upgrade to a 802.11n router to use with some of my devices at home. I unplugged all the cables from the WRT54GS, and connected all the cables into the E3000 - in the exact same sockets and order they were on the old router. When powering on, all the lights eventually turned on (Power, Internet and Ports 1 to 4), except the wifi is still off. I tried running the installation CD, but it says it cannot find the network. I tried a reset (back button) as well as 30-30-30 reset, but no matter what I do, the wifi indicator still doesn't turn on. When switching back to the old router, it has no problem broadcasting a wifi signal again. Is there anything else I should try, either on my PC settings or the E3000 router itself?

I just brought home an older desktop and my wireless connection seems to disconnect about every 30 seconds to a minute, then reconnects.
The only other devices that we are using wirelessly are our phones, which we never notice a problem with. When it is connected, the signal stength is excellent. It just keeps dropping. Speed 72.0 mbps.

I've been having trouble with my wrt54gs2 and 4 360's. I tried a link someone posted for me to a cisco tutorial, it worked, but only for one 360. I have a Netgear wndr3400, I HATE the wireless on that router. Its unreliable but I like the features, the guest network and transfer meter, plus its worked with 4 360's out of the box. So would it be possible to turn off my wifi on the Netgear and plug the wrt54gs2 in and use its wireless?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried to log in into my EA4500 today, and instead of the simple window that asks for the user name and password, I am getting a Cisco Connect Cloud log in screen. It is very strange.
At the top it says: Cisco Connect Cloud/Powering Linksys Products
and below that:

There is a help button, a button to create an account. There is a place where I can enter an email address and a password.
Pressing the Help button I learned that I can probably bypass this silly screen by disconnecting the internet. Is there a better way to bypass this screen and turn off Cisco Connect Cloud?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had enough of BT's shoddy Home Hub router dying whenever I transfer large files over wifi so I want to go back to a trusty Linksys and I'm looking at the WAG320N.
I've got a family member who is convinced wifi is harmful, so to avoid an argument I've agreed to switch it off at night. My last Linksys let me do this via a custom firmware, but the WAG320N isn't a Linux based model. So, my question is: can I set wifi to switch itself off at night from e.g. 11pm until 8am? Preferably this will be an actual switch-off rather than just preventing access via certain wifi devices.
If it can't do it, any alternative Linksys ADSL2+ modem that can?
