View 1 RepliesI can connect to my router but either way it seems like i can't get any internet access (both wireless and by cable): url...I have tried the steps that the linksys FAQ suggests shall fix this problem, but this has not worked. I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).

I was wondering what DD-WRT is (I know it's some sort of firmware) and what does it do. I use the wireless network mostly for gaming and streaming movies. View 1 Replies View RelatedFirmware 1.0.00 on my E4200 Hardware v1.0 provided a functioning 6to4 tunnel through Comcast's 6to4 facility. Windows and Linux clients on my local network discovered IPv6 addresses and were able to use them successfully.Unfortunately, after the upgrade to 1.0.03 this functionality was gone. I missed reading the ChangeLog, which said that the automatic tunneling feature was removed in 1.0.01. The now provided IPv6 functionality works much less well. First, automatic configuration (discovery of the 6to4 via IPv4 anycast) no longer works with Comcast's gateway. If I configure the tunnel manually, by specifying a 2002/16 prefix, I regain IPv6 connectivity, but only for Linux clients on my local network.
Windows 7 clients suffer from the problem that because the E4200 hands out ULA addresses, they end up preferring those ULA addresses when making global IPv6 connections in the IP 'source' field, which of course does not work. It's like putting your company mailbox code as the return address on a letter you send via US Mail. Other home routers, such as the AVM Fritz! (url,...) suffer from the same problem. However, they provide an option to turn off ULA at the router. Is it possible to turn off ULA for the E4200?
If the wifi can be turned off on the E1500. I got this unit from a family member and do not need the wifi part, as I have two computers, but are in the same room. I have the cisco connect on my computer and do not see a disable wifi in the program anywhere.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy internet cut out last week and after calling my ISP I found out it was in fact my router that was causing the problem (regular connection to PPOE works fine). I've only had my E2000 about 2-3 months and have not had any problems with it. I've restarted the router, done a factory reset, upgraded the firmware, renewed the IP and still I cannot get any connectivity. I can access the router UI fine and I get a response from pinging it and also I have tried replacing the cables but that didn't fix the problem either.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using E2000 currently and meet a wireless connection problem. The speed can up to 300M bps. When I confiured the E2000 to band auto (20-40mhz) and my wireless network card to work at also auto (20-40) mode, it always down to 144M speed when connection.
If I changed some settings in E2000's wireless configuration, in the status sheet I can see it works at 40MHZ. But after a while,(5-10 mins) it automaticly down to 20MHZ and my labtop connect only got a 144M speed.
how can I deal with that to make it always keep at 300M connection? Note the previous router I used to connect to my lattop can always keep that speed.
Can I turn off the wireless network of linksys E4200 and use only the 4 ports? using the router like a 4 port switch?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had enough of BT's shoddy Home Hub router dying whenever I transfer large files over wifi so I want to go back to a trusty Linksys and I'm looking at the WAG320N.
I've got a family member who is convinced wifi is harmful, so to avoid an argument I've agreed to switch it off at night. My last Linksys let me do this via a custom firmware, but the WAG320N isn't a Linux based model. So, my question is: can I set wifi to switch itself off at night from e.g. 11pm until 8am? Preferably this will be an actual switch-off rather than just preventing access via certain wifi devices.
If it can't do it, any alternative Linksys ADSL2+ modem that can?
I have a WRT54G router, and when I am in the security area, where you choose WPA, WEP, etc... I keep clicking the dropdown menu, and when I choose anything BUT disable, the security auto-sets back to disable. I have rebooted the router. I have rebooted the modem. I have changed my router's password. How do I turn my WEP back on without it just saying. Also, for additional notation, my US light on my modem is no longer green, it is orange since this issue has occured. Is there any connection that might be related to this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter reinstalling Vista, Vista does not recognize my wireless network. I know that the wireless network is working because my i-Touch and my blue-ray (internet streaming) still are working with the Cisco/Linksys E2000. I made sure that the wireless switch on my Gateway laptop was in the on position. The wireless hardware does not show up in the hardware control panel. Is this a driver issue or a hardware issue? It does not seem that it would be a hardware problem.
My Gateway is still under warranty thru Best Buy. If it's a hardware problem, it's covered but if it's a software problem(I take it that a driver would be software), they want $100 to fix. This is what brings me to a second question, if it's a driver issue, should I just upgrade to Window 7? Does Window 7 have build in drivers for wireless hardware?
I have a E2000 router that would go out and I would have to unplug and replug in every once in a while. Finally it just stopped working completely. I reset the router and now it won't let me connect. I have followed advice given to soembody else on here and went into router settings and cloned the mac, the IP address was there and reset my security settings. It let me connect to the network but not the internet...

It worked fine until one day, without any change at all, it simply stoped working. I mean, I can still connect through my wifi laptop connection (it shows connected to my router and says that I have an excelent signal). But, I can't reach the internet. But, If I unplug the internet cable, and plug it in my laptop, the connection works fine. A friend told me that this could be caused intentionally by the internet provider, that they would block my signal to avoid me using a wireless router, trying to force consumers to sign their own wireless service. Thus, by this friend advice, I've cloned my laptop's MAC address to the router. It didn't work either.
I have a Cisco E2000. When i connect to my cable modem directly, I get 30-35 MBps down and about 10 up. When I plug in to my E2000 it does that at first... but slowly over time, the speed degrades, usually down to about 5-6 down and 3-4 up. If I unplug the router, it typically restores full speed, but not for long (a few days maybe). Also, when I unplug the router, it is pretty hot.

I have an E2000 router that has an intermittent issue where Bonjour drops out. Suddenly my Apple TV won't see my computers, and my iPad won't see my network printer. This happens whether the Apple TV and computers are connected via wired or wireless interfaces.
Restarting the devices does not solve the issue.
Restarting the router solves the issue (until it happens again...)
My router is version 1.0, with 1.0.04 firmware.
I have a e2000 router and a wmp600n wireless card in my desktop pc. Everything works fine until I enable 40 mhz for faster speeds in the e2000 router. When I do this the router switches from 20 mhz to 40 mhz and I get the faster speed. But the effect of this is that my pc gets all "choppy". What I mean is that everything freezes up every few sec. For example when im minimizing windows, the windows freeze half way for about a sec then unfreezes. My mouse does the same thing, even my sound is choppy. I have to switch my router back to 20 mhz and then everything is fine again.
Using windows 7 64 bit
Using newest dirvers and firmware from Linksys.
