May 19, 2012I've recently reinstalled a fresh windows xp operating system onto an old laptop. I've been through some trouble getting the drivers installed, but now I've finally completed that.[URL] I cannot connect to my home's WEP secured wireless network to which I have the password. After I followed the steps detailed in the link, instead of saying "detecting network type," the loading bar says "waiting for the network..." and after about 30 seconds, it disappears and nothing happens.I can connect to my router by directly connecting it with an Ethernet cord without a problem. And I know that the laptop is capable of connecting to a wireless network. I was able to connect to a nearby neighbors unsecured wifi, however it was with a very slow connection due to the distance and weak signal. It will just not connect to my own.

The router can take upto 4 laptops and this one will be the third so itis not a question of to many.All the other laptops can conect to the router when the pass key is put in but this computer will not. I called my internet service provide and we changed the WEP key but i am still getting the same error code. One weired thing I noticed that psp shows only 8 digit WEP key while my key is 10 digit. I don't know why psp doesn't show the 10 digit key. Also, the same issue happend 6 months ago and i was told psp network is closed as people ids have been stolen so i returned my psp and it seems i will have to return it again.

Feb 21, 2011I am unable to connect to wireless network in my office. the configuration and all worked out just fine and I was able to connect unsecured, however when we put a key on there, I am unable to connect. I am even able to connect to my neighbour's unsecured network and I can connect to our wireless router via Ethernet cable.

Nov 28, 2011I stumbled upon a problem which i cannot resolve, the situation is as folows:
A router (Netgear wgt624v3) is connected to the internet. My smartphone and every other wireless device I tested is able to connect to it but not my laptop. My laptop is able to connect to any other wireless network. I can however get acces to the web using an ethernet cable plugged into the router.
I already installed the newest driver for my wireless network card (Atheros AR5B93 Wireless Network Adapter) and I already upgraded the router to the newest firmware. I also disabled every security including the built in firewall. The strangest thing is that I can actually find the SSID of the network, I just cannot connect to it.
FYI: I use windows 7 64bit, laptop type is Packard Bell LM86

Aug 4, 2012Last week I was using my laptop when suddenly it disconnected from the internet. I tried fixing it the next day, and even though there were full bars, it wouldn't connect to the network. I restarted my router multiple times and nothing. So, after a fit of anger and messing with different settings on my computer. For some reason, I was able to connect to the internet 2 or 3 times over the past week for about 10-15 minutes before it would disconnect me for the rest of the day.. So, I'm honestly so stumped. I thought maybe it might have just been my router, but I'm at my dad's house now and I'm not able to connect to his network, either. I might need to go ahead an order a new wireless adapter, but neither of us are that well with computers/networking. I'm hooked up via Ethernet cord which seems to be working fine, but my wireless is only able to read and not actually connect. (On occasion it will actually connect to the internet, but when it does I can't actually access the internet)I've tried uninstalling my wireless adapter, disabling/enabling it, a bunch of weird commands that I don't even know what they do (.. probably shouldn't have messed with those), stopping/restarting services, etc.

Mar 18, 2011I recently got wireless internet in my apartment but am having trouble connecting to it. The other computers in the apartment are having no trouble. The network appears in the wireless networks list, but after I enter the network key it just loads with the "waiting for network" message until it times out. I can connect to other wireless networks. It takes a long time to connect to these other networks but eventually does, My computer is super old, but since I can connect to wireless I feel like the computer is not the issue.

For wired workstations: bridged DSL modem->wireless Linksys E900 router->Dell PowerConnect 2824 switch->2 modular 4-port jacks->individual workstations For wireless: bridged DSL modem->wireless Linksys E900 router->workstations The workstations were set up to pick up IP addresses automatically.After an infrastructure upgrade where we added some Cat6 cables and swapped the modular jacks for a patch panel, we lost all connectivity. I restored the connectivity to the wired workstations by assigning IP addresses. But we have no wireless and I cannot access the router GUI at its IP address (even when plugged directly into the router). All the workstations show the default gateway as 192.168.10.1, so I don't know what's going on.

Mar 19, 2012I have a Dell Dimension L733r with a Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adaptor. When I start the computer, it connects to the wireless network immediately. As I go through the day, all of a sudden I start getting "Unable to Connect to Wireless Network". I click on the popup and then click on repair. It goes through it's procedures and eventually reconnects the network. Sometimes it says "Connection Very Good" other times "Low" or even "Very Low". Several minutes later, it will do the same thing again and I go through the same procedure again. This might happen several more times then it will be okay. There are days where it never happens at all and then there are days where it happens every 10 minutes or so.

My netbook works very well in my home network but when I brought it to my workplace, I was unable to connect to the internet eventhough I could connect to the wireless network. Aug 15, 2012I have an Acer Aspire 5570Z that is running Windows Vista with an Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter. The Windows installation is a brand new clean install with all drivers on the computer being the latest and greatest from their respective manufacturers. Now for my problem...I am unable to connect to any wireless network using either the onboard wireless network card or an external USB wireless network adapter. When I scan for wireless networks my cpu will see them. I can then select whichever network I want to try and connect to but when I click the connect button it never takes me to the authentication screen to input the WEP key.
I have tried to manually enter the WEP and configure the network but then when I try to connect to the network it still tells me that Windows is unable to connect to the network. It gives me the option to diagnose connection or connect to another network but when I try diagnosing the connection it scans for a split second then it only gives me an option to go view available wireless networks. It is like my computer has lost the ability to authenticate a network connection.

Sep 5, 2011I came home and was unable to wirelessly connect to my secure home network. I can connect to it secure and wired as well as unsecured and wireless, but not secured and wireless. I have done malware scans and checked for driver updates for both my netowrking card and the Linksys WRT54G router firmware...both are good. All of the other systems in the house can wirelessly connect to it while secured, so I've narrowed it down to clearly being a problem with my computer. I am using Vista Home Premium 64 bit on an ASUS G50VT.

The router is configured with two wireless access points with SSIDs: "abracadabra" and "abracadabra-guest". The only difference between these two wireless networks is their passcode. Up until now I have had no problem connecting devices to either wireless network.
My problem lies with an HP Pavilion laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit that I'm trying to connect to the "abracadabra" wireless network.
Network and Sharing Center shows "Identifying" for a while and then shows "Unidentified network" with no local or internet access. Wireless network connection status says that Media State is Enabled, Speed is 54Mbps and Signal Quality is Excellent. Network Connection Details shows that DHCP is Enabled but it's getting an Autoconfiguration IPv4 address of 169.254.107.138...
The laptop is running ESET Nod 32 Antivirus 5 and Windows Firewall and I've disabled Windows Firewall on the Wireless Network Connection. I've also tried re-installing the wireless nic driver, it's running the latest from Windows Updates.
what really gets me is that the laptop can connect to "abracadabra-guest" fine and access the internet

Ever since that update my Toshiba laptop has not been able to connect our wireless network. My other two roommates, though, have no trouble connecting. (they're both on MACs) He suggested that I update my drivers, but everything is already updated. When I plug in the Ethernet cable I can connect to the internet fine, having to come into his room late at night to watch porn.

Apr 14, 2012I reset my Dlink 615 wireless router. I held down the power and reset for 30 seconds and rebooting the system with the disc. I did change the router name, but believe everything else stayed the same. My desk top is working fine being "hardwired" but nothing wireless will connect.
I did see this time it installed Network Magic which I have since uninstalled and again rebooted the computer system and still cannot get the wireless to work. It shows the network available, but my password for some reason does not take.

Nov 5, 2011I recently moved to a building that does not have wired Internet access. Upon the recommendation I purchased a Linksys AEE 2500 USB wireless adapter. I am unable to install the software which means, of course, I am unable to access any of the settings.The setup initializes, shows me the wireless network available (it has a locked padlock symbol next to a), and prompts me for the encryption key. It accepts the key and it's at this point the setup stalls. It shows the "attempting to connect to network" screen then, after whatever interval the software is set for before it times out, I get a notification that setup was unable to access the network. The generic Windows drivers access the network just fine although I only get two bars and a fair connection.I do have Internet connection through the windows drivers but it is slow and watching streaming video from Netflix is next to impossible.Long story short

May 11, 2012I have a Linksys E1500 wireless router that I have had for about 3 months and it has been working great up until today. I realized non of my wireless devices could detect the network, so I got on my PC which is hard wired to the router and it to says it had no network connection. So I power cycled both the router and the modem. When it came back up, this PC that I am typing from now has an internet connection but is says it is connected to Network 2 instead of the routers name for the network. My other PC that is hard wired to the router says its not connected to the network, and when I open up the Cisco Connect software it tells me my router is not plugged in. Also, nothing works wirelessly.In the web control panel it still has all my setting intact but still looks like its not connected to the internet.
