Wireless Unable To Connect Just Waiting For Network Appears
Mar 18, 2011
I recently got wireless internet in my apartment but am having trouble connecting to it. The other computers in the apartment are having no trouble. The network appears in the wireless networks list, but after I enter the network key it just loads with the "waiting for network" message until it times out. I can connect to other wireless networks. It takes a long time to connect to these other networks but eventually does, My computer is super old, but since I can connect to wireless I feel like the computer is not the issue.

I'm trying to connect to a wireless network provided by a Sprint mobile hotspot. My computer is running XP SP3 and using a wireless USB adapter to do it. (802.1n)I can detect the network but when I try to connect using Windows I get the message "Windows waiting for the network to be ready." And apparently the network is never ready.I can also use the software that come with the adapter. That doesn't work because when I put in the password for WPA 2, the program saves a password that is far longer then the one I entered. Then I get the message "Authentication failed!" Well, duh. Then the computer tries to connect over and over with no results. "Trying to connect ... disconnected ... etc."

I'm running Win7 and have recently had problems at startup. Initially I thought this was a Skype issue as removing it seemed to work, but alas the problem remains with it uninstalled. The PC boots ok and I can open programs quickly enough, but if they need internet access they hang for 5mins or so before the block clears and all is well. I have recently changed ISP provider to BT Broadband (UK) and have a new router which sets itself up and had been working fine.

we have a Cisco 2901 as a router on a stick for several vlans. Everything on the segment routes fine and accesses the internet just as they should. The 2901 connects to an ASA5505 on port 0/1. Any host connected to the ASA5505 can access the internet, but can not ping into any of the vlans off of the 2901. The strange thing is on either segement of the network I can ping all of the gateways. What is even more strange is when I run wireshark from behind the firewall going into the 2901 I can not see the packet on another wireshark instance behind the 2901. However if I start a ping for a host host behind the asa I can see the packet in wireshark on the host, which I am trying to ping, hit the gateway.

I've recently reinstalled a fresh windows xp operating system onto an old laptop. I've been through some trouble getting the drivers installed, but now I've finally completed that.[URL] I cannot connect to my home's WEP secured wireless network to which I have the password. After I followed the steps detailed in the link, instead of saying "detecting network type," the loading bar says "waiting for the network..." and after about 30 seconds, it disappears and nothing happens.I can connect to my router by directly connecting it with an Ethernet cord without a problem. And I know that the laptop is capable of connecting to a wireless network. I was able to connect to a nearby neighbors unsecured wifi, however it was with a very slow connection due to the distance and weak signal. It will just not connect to my own.

My son's laptop suddenly stopped being able to connect to the internet via wireless. I can see it okay but just unable to connect. I've checked the drivers and they are up to date. It shows on my network when wired and I've checked with the virus software and I can see no reason for it to be blocked.

i cannot connect to a certain wireless network. The router can take upto 4 laptops and this one will be the third so itis not a question of to many. All the other laptops can conect to the router when the pass key is put in but this computer will not. This computer will connect to other networks but not the one at home. When i put the pass key that it asks into the computer it says that it is not the right one. What am i doing wrong or is there something missing from the computer. Not very experienced at this so be patient and spell it out in laymen terms

I bought a brand new psp today and was trying for last 2 hours to connect it to my wireless network but each time it display an error code 8041160B. I called my internet service provide and we changed the WEP key but i am still getting the same error code. One weired thing I noticed that psp shows only 8 digit WEP key while my key is 10 digit. I don't know why psp doesn't show the 10 digit key. Also, the same issue happend 6 months ago and i was told psp network is closed as people ids have been stolen so i returned my psp and it seems i will have to return it again.

I am trying to fix my sisters laptop before she goes back to college. The computer is suddenly unable to connect to the internet via wireless, but can connect perfectly fine with a cord. Also whenever I restart it says unable to reconnect all network drives. The computer is a Dell Latitude D630 Laptop running windows vista ultimate 32 bit, the network card is a Dell Wireless 1395 wlan mini-card.I took it over to some other places to see if it was just my router, which is a linksys e3000 and to no avail it still could not connect. I tried doing some system restores and that did not work either.

I stumbled upon a problem which i cannot resolve, the situation is as folows:
A router (Netgear wgt624v3) is connected to the internet. My smartphone and every other wireless device I tested is able to connect to it but not my laptop. My laptop is able to connect to any other wireless network. I can however get acces to the web using an ethernet cable plugged into the router.
I already installed the newest driver for my wireless network card (Atheros AR5B93 Wireless Network Adapter) and I already upgraded the router to the newest firmware. I also disabled every security including the built in firewall. The strangest thing is that I can actually find the SSID of the network, I just cannot connect to it.
FYI: I use windows 7 64bit, laptop type is Packard Bell LM86

Last week I was using my laptop when suddenly it disconnected from the internet. I tried fixing it the next day, and even though there were full bars, it wouldn't connect to the network. I restarted my router multiple times and nothing. So, after a fit of anger and messing with different settings on my computer. For some reason, I was able to connect to the internet 2 or 3 times over the past week for about 10-15 minutes before it would disconnect me for the rest of the day.. So, I'm honestly so stumped. I thought maybe it might have just been my router, but I'm at my dad's house now and I'm not able to connect to his network, either. I might need to go ahead an order a new wireless adapter, but neither of us are that well with computers/networking. I'm hooked up via Ethernet cord which seems to be working fine, but my wireless is only able to read and not actually connect. (On occasion it will actually connect to the internet, but when it does I can't actually access the internet)I've tried uninstalling my wireless adapter, disabling/enabling it, a bunch of weird commands that I don't even know what they do (.. probably shouldn't have messed with those), stopping/restarting services, etc.
ipconfig /all with Ethernet unplugged

I've tried two operating systems (Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows XP) two different wireless adaptors (Dell M1530 internal adaptor and Alfa USB Adaptor which I get full bars on) and tried a different Dell M1530 laptop which I'm also having issues with. I've also tried to diagnose the network with a tool, but I'm totally unable to connect to it so I'm unable to get any more information. If I try to connect to an unsecured network, it works perfectly. I'm totally stumped about this, due to the fact that I've used two different operating systems, two different adaptors and two different laptops (albeit the same brand).

Just to set the stage, we used to have a network which ran in the following order:
For wired workstations: bridged DSL modem->wireless Linksys E900 router->Dell PowerConnect 2824 switch->2 modular 4-port jacks->individual workstations For wireless: bridged DSL modem->wireless Linksys E900 router->workstations The workstations were set up to pick up IP addresses automatically. After an infrastructure upgrade where we added some Cat6 cables and swapped the modular jacks for a patch panel, we lost all connectivity. I restored the connectivity to the wired workstations by assigning IP addresses. But we have no wireless and I cannot access the router GUI at its IP address (even when plugged directly into the router). All the workstations show the default gateway as 192.168.10.1, so I don't know what's going on.

Since successfully restoring my laptop to factory settings I have been unable to connect using my Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection.Initially it worked, but after a while it stopped. I have completed several system restores, and the wireless connection works for a few days. On the last occasion (after installing windows updates) I received the dreaded blue screen and have been unable to connect.I am not sure if it is related to installing new windows updates as prior to restoring to factory settings I had no issues with my wireless connection.I am able to connect using the ethernet cable and I am currently able to connect using Pluscom wireless usb adapter.I am using the fujitsu siemens amilo pi 2515 notebook.netgear dg834g router?

I have a Dell Dimension L733r with a Linksys Compact Wireless-G USB Adaptor. When I start the computer, it connects to the wireless network immediately. As I go through the day, all of a sudden I start getting "Unable to Connect to Wireless Network". I click on the popup and then click on repair. It goes through it's procedures and eventually reconnects the network. Sometimes it says "Connection Very Good" other times "Low" or even "Very Low". Several minutes later, it will do the same thing again and I go through the same procedure again. This might happen several more times then it will be okay. There are days where it never happens at all and then there are days where it happens every 10 minutes or so.

Is there anything else I need to include? I know the computer's old, but I never had a problem accessing the internet before.

I tried my entire afternoon trying to figure this out but to no avail. Fortunately, I found this place out of my desperation for a solution. My netbook works very well in my home network but when I brought it to my workplace, I was unable to connect to the internet eventhough I could connect to the wireless network. Other computers and laptops were able to connect and use the internet well using the same router. I tried manually configuring my IP and default gateway based on what I read but nothing worked.
