View 2 RepliesI bought the Telkom wi-fi router with A 3G dongle. If I plug the 3G dongle directly into a laptop it picks up immediately but when I plug it into the router it doesn't pick it up at all.

The router i am using as extender is a netgear wndr3700. i dont have much knowledge about these thing and am losing so much time by trying to get it working. everytime i apply the settings in the netgear i am unable to connect to it (even wired) and have to hard reset it...attached are some screen shots of both devices from last settings I tried.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 7800N combined adsl2+ modem/router for about the last 3 months. About 2 days ago I came home from work to find the Wireless Network had dropped, although the green LED on the modem was still on. Since that time I have been unable to connect to the Wireless network, or even have the network appear on the list of connectable networks. I have two laptops a smartphone and the wireless network is not detected by any of these devices.
Nothing has changed with my WLAN setup, no settings were changed by me, no new devices recently connected. My main PC is connected by an ethernet cable and has not been affected, it remains connected to the internet at all times with no issues.
Things I have tried:
* Turning the router off/on
* Unplugging the router for 1 hour
* Changing Wireless Channels (Auto, 1,6,9,13)
* Disabled and Re-Enabled WLAN through modem settings page
* Changing ESSID Name
* Hiding ESSID then Re-Enabling ESSID
* Changing WPA2-PSK Passkey
* Isolating modem on phone line
and finally, Restoring to default settings, and starting all over again.
I live in a small apartment block and typically have 6-8 other low strength wireless networks in the list, and thought something may be conflicting with another device, however after changing channels 4 or 5 times I gave up on this thought.... None of the above resulted in the Wireless network being detected and displayed in a list of connectable networks. The wireless light remains on, and flashes periodically, but for all intents and purposes no Wireless Network seems to exist.
I am having issues with the wireless on my Billion 7800N My phone and other wireless items were able to detect and use the wireless until recently when now all I do is find it in the list, but when I go to use it, it says failed to connect.

We've reset the router twice. we can set up the wireless network but we cannot connect to it. The connection last for about 5 minutes and then we get an error, cannot read IP address. Comcast says it is not their problem and linksys says they can't assist either.

I purchased a WRT 54Gl linksys wireless router hoping I would be able to get a WIFI signal to my house. I have no live phone lines in my home just the one in my metal building , how can I get a signal through the metal building to my home in order to use wifi on my Ipod and Iphone . Keep in mind I am 200 ft from my home and have a wooden shop and another metal building to go through to get to my home.
View 25 Replies View RelatedSending WiFi signal about 1/4 mile from my home to where my daughter lives so she can use her Samsung Galaxy2 Tablet on WiFi.There are homes, condos and trees in between us, so it is not a clear path.So far this is what I have done.I am using a modem and a Netgear WNR834B Wireless N Router.I connected a Hawkins Laptop Extender (HWREN Wireless 150N Mini Extender * single antenna outlet) into the router and connected a WiFi cable from the Hawkins to my tower outside above my roof and have attached a 10 dbi gain Trendnet antenna (omnidirectional) to the cable.But still the WiFi signal doesn't seem to be very strong at all when I test with my phone.And obviously, my daughters tablet does not see my router when she has her tablet search for WiFi.I also tried a 14dbi WIfi ASUS directional antenna and basically came up with the same outcome... she could not see the WiFi signal..My daughter lives in a condo and is not capable or allowed to install any outside antenna system whatsoever.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently came home from work to find the safety switch on our house had activated causing half of our house to be without power...including our modem. It wiped all my settings...no big deal...I've entered them all back in again. But now I am no longer able to establish a connection to my laptops... The Wireless WPS light will not come back on the router no matter how many times I turn it off/on or reset it... When I go into the page to establish properties etc for the modem...the WLAN option doesn't even appear anymore. but they were at a complete loss also as to why the option wasn't there..
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy cable went out and my neighbor and I have decided to split her at$t broadband, the phone/modem/router is a 2wire.
I have 3 windows 7 computers but only one wireless g usb wireless adapter from tenda. I also have a linksys wrt54g wireless router that I can use.
I have tried to set up the router as a wireless bridge by loading a DD-WRT bin on my linksys but it seemed way buggy -results - I was only able to get 2 of 3 online and if I restarted any of them I lost the connection completely.
Went back to stock firmware and tried to set up a lan between the 3 towers with the linksys then just bridge the two connections on the main pc - results -no internet at all on 2nd and 3rd pc... and when the connection to the wifi network is started I loose my networking to the 2 pc's on the linksys.
Im not sure if im not setting these up correctly as im just following guides and such but since im fairly good with computers this is making me crazy...to be able to set three computers up on 1 good clear wifi should be an easy task but it's just not working out..
I have just replaced my 54Mbps Wireless-G router (Sky Broadband/Netgear - black, looks like a SkyHD box) with a 300Mbps Wireless-N TP-Link TD-W8960N router, I have also upgraded the the standard 3dBi antennas with a pair of TP-Link ANT2408CL 8dBi high-gain anetnnas.
However when using various WiFi analysis apps I'm getting a signal strength averaging -35dBm and noise of -96dBm when in the same room as the router. But the main bit confusing me is that this is in ALL configurations - with my old Wireless-G router, with the new Wireless-N w/ 3dBi antennas, and with the new Wireless-N w/ 8dBi antennas.
Am I misunderstanding the signal/noise thing or is this Wireless-N router not giving me a better signal at all? I plan on installing an identical setup in a property with patchy Wireless-G coverage next week and I was hoping this exact kit would be the solution.I have tested with two laptops and I am getting 130Mbps link with both, but I understand this is typical of laptop hardware. I don't have any devices with a certified 300Mbps card installed to test with.
Got a new e1000 after a RMA. The new unit has a very weak wifi signal. I've tried all different channels. It is running in mixed mode. No microwave, blue-tooth or other noise. 4 feet from the router and the signal is down to -90db. Take a few more steps away and the connection is lost.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Att internet services and the modem I received from them has WiFi with it. The signal that it produces is very weak. I was curious if there is any way to use my E3000 to boost or repeat the signal so WiFi will extend through out the house.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy new EA4500 works fine all day, both wireless and wifi, on both bands, but nearly every evening, the wifi signal disappears, as shown on a wifi app for my smart phone, but not on Issid on my laptop, strangely, and my PC laptop and iPad both disconnect, then reconnect. Smart phone disconnects too. It isn't like the signal drops in strength, it just goes away! I have tried various settings on modes, and bandwidths, I am using different SSID's on each band, WPA2 security with a long non-dictionary passphrase and MAC filtering. The hardwire connection works great at 30+ Mbps even when the wifi is disappearing from the wifi scanner and the wifi connections are dropping. In other words, the cable connection/modem is working fine, but the wifi radio signal stops or the SSID drops off the signal. I really can't tell, but I know it is becoming very frustrating. The old WRT54GS works fine if I put it back on-line in the evening when these things start to happen.
I have turned off everything I can think of in the house that transmits or might transmit, in case it is an interference thing. I have tried disabling the 5 GHz side, since I can't see what is happening on that band, and the last thing I tried was changing the MTU from 1500 to 1400. So far, the past evening, it was okay, but I am not confident it will stay that way.
I've had a LinkSys BEFW11S4 wireless router for several years now -- ever since it first came out (this is a version 1, not even a version 2).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought the top end ea4500 hoping its "high end" claims would get a better wifi signal in my bedroom(on my iphone 4s) than what i was getting with my WRT54G.The end result is it constantly drops signal completely or shows my network but when I try to connect says "cannot connect to wireless network" even though it's staring me right in the face. When I hook my WRT54G up, I get a signal.. all be it weak, but at least it doesn't drop out on me.Did I just waste almost $200 on a high end router that can't push a signal out stronger than my almost 7 year old WRT54G? or am i missing some setting that will make this EA4500 worth its claims? settings info:everything is pretty much on "default" aside from the SSIDs for the different bands and the corresponding WPA passwords.
also another problem, it seems like the router itself craps out every 60-120 minutes, no leds lit up on the router and my modem (Cisco DCP3010) shows no "link". Yet when hooked directly to the PC there is a "link", so pretty sure its the router and not the modem.
I've bought a E4200 router because of it's "maximum performance". With the normal settings i have a wireless range of maximum 10 m in the building. after 5m I've got a low signal.I tested a cheap Netgear-router, which had the same range as the E4200 a 125 Euro.Is my E4200 broke or is it just a bad buy? The settings are standard (that shouldn't be the problem, I guess!?)
View 9 Replies View Relatedmy family kept having a problem with our Billion 6800n router. (or something like that).Basically we pinned the problem down to it not having the strength to keep several connections running through it. So we upgraded to a Billion 7800n and found it is much more stable and much faster.However it has been having a similar problem to our previous router.
Occasionally the internet light drops from green to orange, and we can't load any more pages until it has gone back to green.Here is a picture of what it looks like when in that status.But the weird thing is the connection bars on the windows toolbar at the bottom of the screen still show full strength.As shown here.Now I thought it might be because it was sharing a power board with other connections going through it,so I transferred it to a smaller two-plug one instead.
Got 1 Linksys WRT54G Router on the ground floor which uses PTCL DSL Internet and 1 D-Link Wireless N Gigabit Router on the first floor which uses World Call Cable Internet of my house. So yeah we have two internet connections.Getting weak signals from both of the routers in my room on the far left side of the house and little to no signals in the basementSo what I want to ask is that should I purchase better routers or should I go with a signal booster of some sorts like an Access Point or a Range Extender?Also is there such a device which would catch signals from both of these differently configured routers ( different internets, different wireless security keys etc ) and then boost them throughout the house if placed in an area where both the router signals are strong?

I received this router today, I have a MacBook Pro and a iPhone. But that is not true if the cd is not compatiable! My problem is I get a good signal for wifi, but I can not open any websites with my Mac or my iphone.

What would seem to be an ideal way to share a hotel wifi signal with other devices, would be:
Laptop signs into hotel/resort wifi and completes sign-in page. Share wifi signal with TP router via an ethernet cable. TP router acts as hotspot for connection by other devices. This is the method this Apple based article suggests:
[URL]
I have tried this with Windows 7 using a bridge between the laptop wifi and lan adapters. But I must be doing something wrong.
The other option is to use ICS, but not sure then if the hotel's system would see additional devices. (we are limited to 4 where we stay, but exceed that when family visits!)
I just upgraded from a WRTG 54 version 2 wireless router to the Linsksys E2500. The reason for the change is to send a stronger wireless signal strength further in my house. Setup was easy to my laptop and XBox 360 but my Samsung Internet TV is another story. I can get my tv to get the wireless signal but when I click on an app nothing but error messages. Often times it will say to check my dns settings but I am not that tech savvy and don't know what to do.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI initially had a laptop and a desktop with one Telkom router, running both wireless and wired (Ethernet cable)pics removed for security purpose.My daughters got laptops, and I bought a Netgear Wireless N300 Router/Modem for a better signal.The signal is good, but at the extremes of the house poor.I found on the internet a plan of a Windsurfer and built one. The results were not that impressive.So I thought to incorporate the first router (the Telkom router/modem) somewhere in the LAN for a boost.I changed the first (Telkom) router to a booster, but struggled (used advice from the internet) and stopped the exercise.
