Cisco 3750X L3 Switch Configuration - Not Getting Any Data Coming Through
Jul 2, 2013
I have RFID Reader (10.10.63.2 - 255.255.255.240) connected Cat-6 POE to ws-c3750x-24p-s - standard TCP/IP web service app pulling data from the reader every 250msec: I have my app server connect via vlan by ws-c3750x-24p-s IP address (128.1.70.1 - 255.255.0.0) as you can see its on a different sub net;
I can ping the device from the server - although I'm not getting any data coming through: my config are as:
0 [switch 1 provision ws-c3750x-24p-s]
1 [system mtu routing 1500]
2 [ip routing]
3 [no ip domain-lookup]
[code]...
I can ping the device from the server - although I'm not getting any data coming through.

I have hardcoded 1GB ports on 3750X to 1000 and full duplex for all servers connected. THe ports are not coming up with this speed and duplex settings. If I configure them to 100, I am able to see the port is up. Whereas if i connect the same servers to 2950 switches, i can see the ports working fine with 1000 speed ..we have tried with the latest universal IOS as well

We are currently experiencing random multicast data dropouts on ports that are connected to a 3750X in VLAN ports. A test PC was connected to a routed port and we do not have any dropouts of the multicast data.We also took a 2960G and plugged it into VLAN ports on the 3750X. Any test PC that is on the 2960G does not lose traffic. The traffic only drops on PCs that are connected to a port on the 3750X that is in a VLAN. The data drops are random and last approximatly 55-59 seconds before we start receiving multicast traffic again.
I do not see any input/output errors on the interfacessh platform port-asic stat drop also show no drops
CPU runs at about 50% on the 3750X
Below is the configuration of the 3750X

I have a small problem and I'm a bit confused, Cisco suggested that you should mark traffic as close to the end devices as possible. So I wanted to try marking the traffic coming from S1 to R1, S2 to R2, and S3 to R3 on Switch 2 (Cisco Catalyst 2960) with the following config:

We have configured Cisco 3750X POE series switchs with Stack.WS-C3750X-48P each with Redundant 1100W & 715 W PSU's. They are configured with Stack-Power in Sharing mode and the switches are Smart Stacked as well.IP Phone and Access points are connected its working in last two years,
Now we are facing some issue on Cisco IP Phone and Access point, When i have problem if unplug (disconnect & Reconnect) the IP Phone from Switch port,Power is not comming on switch port.Plug it into another switchport of the same Switch it may not power in any port.I tried shut & no shut and reconfigured on switch port , I have verified multiple switch ports same issue on the switch I have changed cable.

I am trying to configure a new metro ethernet and have some questions about the configuration. The physical layout is a main office and two remote locations. The remote sites are point-to-point connections to the main office, tagged by the ISP with VLAN 130 and VLAN 140. The connections aggregate into one handoff at the main office, and are plugged into Catalyst 3750-X switches at all three sites.

We currently have 7 Cisco 3524-XL switches (10-12+ yrs old) which are 10/100. We purchased a handful of Cisco 3750X switches to replace them going with the whole stackwise and redundant power supplies. Our current configuration on the old 3524 switches is that they have hardset all the ports on them to 100MB/FULL since devices would auto-neg to 100/Half. Since we're going from 10/100 to 10/100/1000 switches, I want things to auto-neg as I have heard in the past and experienced that things work better when it auto-neg to gigabit. My upper management is afraid since the old switches wouldn't auto-neg correctly that we should hard set all the ports on the new switches, which would be a nightmare since some ports would be hard set to 100/FULL others to 1000/FULL, etc.. We've tested just about all of our devices at auto with the switches and they've all auto-neg to the correct speed. In short, is Auto-Negotiation the way to go with the newer switches or is it still better practice to hard set your ports?

I have Cisco 2960's, 3750's and 3750x's all running IOS on the access layer. I have Cisco 6504's running IOS on the Distribution and Core layers. I am looking to monitor redundant links through Spectrum by having specific ports send traps but I have run into trouble finding how to configure it. I would like to have:
1. Logging enabled for all links (Fiber and Copper) so that I see all links up/down messages in the syslog
2. SNMP traps sent for linkup/link down messages only for redundant links (ex. Dual Up links from Access Layer or Redundant Ether channel Links on Dist Layer)
3. SNMP traps should be ignored/not sent for all copper ports.

I am trying to setup intervlan configuration and stuck on a problem. Here are the details:
1. Switches Catalyst 3750-x (as core switch) and Catalyst 2960S (as access switch)
2. Both switches have VLAN 20 and VLAN 1 on their database and both are active. BTW, after I figure out how to properly configure interVLAN routing the native VLAN 1 will not be used anymore. This is just an initial test.
3. VLAN 20 SVI interface (IP 192.168.20.200) on 3750 is up and can be pinged from catalyst 2960.
4. VLAN 1 SVI interface (IP 192.168.170.200) on 3750 is up and also can be pinged from Catalyst 2960.
5. Catalyst 3670 can ping a client computer (IP 192.168.20.10) connected to Catalyst 2960.
6. IP route enabled on 3750
7. Trunking is enabled on etherchannel connecting both 3750 and 2960
8. Client computer in VLAN 20 (connected to 2960) can ping VLAN 20 SVI interface 192.168.20.200 on switch 3560.But, the client computer in VLAN 20 can not reach any computer in VLAN 1 and vice versa. Strangely, the switches which these computers are connected to can ping each other or any connected client copmuters without any problem as described above.

I am installing a several new Cisco VM servers. The VM hosts are losing connectivity when we apply the etherchannel config in the core stack. VMware has stated that the etherchannel load balance needs to be src-dst-ip in order for the etherchannel to work. However, my current stack has 2 etherchannels configured to other switches through out the bldg in network closets. The current load balance configuration is src-mac.My question....when I make the change to src-dst-ip, will my network connectivity go down? I saw there was an older article on this that doesnt provide an answer just a work around. Here is the article. [URL].

It seems I have seen this before (and even done it once a few years ago).. but it has been a while. I have a stack with a Cisco 3750 stack that I have to replace a member. The replacement switch is a 3750X.
I think I have to upgrade the IOS of the older switch to be the same as the 3750X.
Current switch: WS-C3750G-48TS 12.2(46)SE
TO BE ADDED WS-c3570X-48 15.0 (1)SE2
It seems to me there was a way to upgrade the older switch IOS from the newer switch or downgrade the newer switch with the older IOS.I dont have the Cisco account to download updated IOSs.

Any pointers on configuring security on a Cisco 3750X switch that sits on a public (WAN) network. It will distribute connectivity to individual ASA firewalls as there are only two main links from upstream. Obviously I'll be disabling the http server, SSH (besides the management interface), etc.I know I can create ACL's, but worried about performance? I'm looking at blocking Netbios and other protocols that are not nessesery on our network. I've been told to disable the default VLAN... is that a good idea? And instead use the management port? I've looked around but there doesn't seem to be much information about what you should enable or disable on public switches.

At our site we have a 4510 core switch and 3750x switches in our IDFs. The 3750 switches are connected to the core via DOT1Q trunks in a server client setup. We are putting in an Informacast/Berbee server witch will send pages and text to the cisco phones. We also have 1 3750 switch connecting to the core via a layer 3 port channel. If we put the Informacast server on the phones vlan would I just need to enable ip pim sparse-dense mode on that vlan only and enable multicast routing, ip multicast routing?

The process "HL3U bkgrd proce" is causing high CPU usage issues in a switch 3750X-24T-L. The IOS is 15.0.2-SE2.
show platform ip unicast failed route and adjacencies displays a lot of entries, I've seen up to 1200.
After restart HL3U bkgrd proce takes around 10 - 20 % CPU, some hours later 99%.
A coupe of times we got logs like this:
%SYS-3-CPUHOG: Task is running for (2136)msecs, more than (2000)msecs (172/73),process = HL3U bkgrd process.

I have a 3750X 24 port switch (with NM-1G network module) running IOS 15.0(1). Is there any benefit or reason to plug in the included Stack Wise cable and loop it back to itself in a single switch installation?
I don't see any recommendation in the documentation. The data sheet indicates a single switch is a non-blocking device so I'd think there's no bandwidth advantage like there is when connecting an actual multi-switch stack and needing to close the loop for the full 32 Gbps stack bandwidth.

About an hour ago I had the master switch on one of my 3750x (WS-C3750X-48PF-S) stacks crash. The only two items we've found that could have caused this issue are the roughly 1.3 million big buffer misses and several of the following in the syslog
SLT:WARN:No exporter configured for smartlog! I do not have smartlogging turned on, nor is there a netflow exporter configured
sh logging smartlogsmartlog is disabledsmartlog exporter:smartlog pkt length: 64 Total pkts processed: 0Total DHCP Snooping pkts processed: 0Total DAI pkts processed: 0Total IPSG pkts processed: 0Total ACL pkts processed: 0
I did not see any traffic spikes prior to the crash.
This stack has been stable since it's last IOS upgrade from 12.2(58)SE1 to 12.2(58)SE2 back in October 2011 so this has me a little worried.

since it wasn't booting up, I did format flash again and thought to load image again from tftp server but now, it doesn't load image from tftp server.

I have a 3750X four-switch stack acting as the core of a fairly simple LAN. All I need to achieve (and this seems inordinately hard, but it is entirely likely that I'm just being dense) is to get access to the internet through my core switch, through the firewall and out through my VSAT. I've spoken at some length with the firewall providers (Cyberoam) and they tell me all I need to do when I migrate onto my new system (Cyberoam is currently in place at the entrance to our existing LAN) is change the local IP address of the Firewall, plug in the new switch to the LAN port, and away I go. Tried that, didn't work, so obviously I'm missing something.

I am looking for a way to bind between a switch interface (cat 3750X) and a DHCP server reply. The switch can operate as the DHCP server .a PC connected to interface Gi 1/0/1 will lways get IP address 10.0.0.1 because it is connected to interface Gi 1/0/1, a PC connected to interface Gi 1/0/5 will lways get IP address 10.0.0.5 because it is connected to interface Gi 1/0/5 and so on... (no matter the source MAC address who sends the DHCP request).
