Adding Virtual Network Card And Assigning IP?

Sep 3, 2012

I have a win xp system which connects to internal network & Internet. The problem I have is, for each work i need to change the IP address.

Ex: For internal network the ip should be 192.168.0.1 To connect to internet the ip should be 192.168.1.1

Now I want to be connected to both internal network as well as internet at the same time. So what should I do ?

* I can not add another physical network card.

* I can not change the IP's of any other system or config servers etc... (as it is used by our internal application, doing so will make a mess.)

* I have the admin rights so any software changes to my system can be done.

So i was hoping to add a virtual network card, and configure it to the new IP. So can that be done ? if so how ?

Cisco WAN :: Adding A HWIC 1FE Card To 2811 Router?

May 19, 2011

I have a 2811 router runnning IOS 12.4(21) and have added an HWIC 1FE card to slot 2. But the card doesnot show up in the router and all the three lights on the HWIC card is steady green. I have gone through some cisco documentation and found that i have to upgrade the IOS.

I have few questions before doing the upgrade.

1. Which IOS version should I upgrade to?

2. Will this erase my exisitng running configuration ? I have VPN services, PPPoATM,  PBR  etc.. all running on this router at present.

3. Presently i have a 128 MB CF card on the router. Will this be enough or do i need to upgrade this card also? Can i choose an IOS which will fit into this card otherwise while keeping all existng features?

4. I want to use the HWIC card for the ISP's internet service through PPPoE. Will this be possible with the upgraded IOS ?

Switch Keeps Assigning 192.168.x.x To 10.10.x.x Network?

May 17, 2011

My local DHCP server mis-assigns IP Addresses of 192.168.x.x to laptops every morning. It has been suggested that one of my print servers (two Fierys and a Creo) is pushing 192.168.x.x onto the network but I think I've ruled that out. have an XP Pro desktop running a standard Windows bridge that connects a wireless Netgear router to the local Cisco switch. This has worked flawlessly for a couple of years so I hesitate to blame the bridge. My remote IT dept pushed a change/update to all locations having to do with address lease duration. I do not know details. Is there a way I can identify the source of the problem if I do not have admin access to the DHCP server? The only local control I have is to cycle power.

DHCP Assigning Bad Address / Getting Unidentified Network

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: Nexus 5K With Free-Radius Assigning Network-operator Role

Apr 26, 2011

my customer has FreeRadius, and I'm trying to get the server to assign a network admin role to a 5K running 5.0.3 code. This is based on the example given in this document: url...The server authenticates the user name, but will only put the user into the network operator role. This is confirmed by checking the output of show user-account and debug security user-db.The Radius test using the same credentials passes the authentication test. I'm sure the problem is that the N5K dosent understand the VSA format of the attribute, and that this is a simple syntax problem.

Home Network :: Virtual Servers On One IP Address

Aug 6, 2012

I have one dedicated IP issued to my home, along with another dynamic one if I need it(but I don't use it). I have a webserver, mail server, and name server up and running on a single machine exposed to the internet with my static IP. I have a domain name registered to my IP address. My webserver and name server work great, but I am having difficulty with the mail server. In order to have mail work correctly, I have been told that I need to get reverse DNS setup for my domain (something I had neglected to do). My nameserver responds to reverse lookups correctly when issued locally, but it looks like queries from the internet never reach it (I think my ISP catches requests upstream). I contacted them and they put a PTR record in for my IP pointing to ns1.mydomain.com. This all works fine, but the thought occurred to me that if in my hosts file I put my MX record in as mail.mydomain.com., any mail clients that do a reverse lookup of my IP won't get mail.

Boot Virtual Desktop From Hyper-v On A Network

Apr 29, 2013

I already know there's an easier way of doing this; DHCP, TFTP and CCBoot. But this is not what I want.I have Hyper-V installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 with a Windows 7 VM installed on it.What I wanna do is take this image of Windows 7 and boot it on another PC on the same network. The client PC doesn't have a hard disk so I want to boot it using a USB stick.I've already installed and configured Remote Desktop Roles and was able to access the Hyper-v VM using a browser locally. So what can I do next? I can't take the .vhd image and put it on a usb stick because it's too large (30GB) and converting it to .vdi would still be large.

How can I have the wireless and ethernet connectivity co-exist together or separately when required.

Ubuntu 12.04 / Virtual Machine Network Configuration?

Sep 22, 2012

My host OS is Ubuntu 12.04 and I am running a LAMP stack there. I have several Windows virtual machines (XP and Windows7) running in Virtual Box so I can test IE6, IE7, etc..

I frequently move this laptop between a few wireless networks and sometimes I am without an internet connection. I pause and save the VM execution state. Regardless, I want the virtual machines to be able to access the sites I am hosting locally on Ubuntu. The virtual machines do not need regular internet access. On the host I can point the browser at localhost or any subdirectory that apache is serving and view pages I've set up already. What is the best configuration for this?

Should I use Bridged or NAT virtual adaptors and should the guests use static IP's or DHCP ? I've also considered using ad-hoc networks between guests and host, but I think this will require that the host disconnect from any other networks (with internet access).

Adding A Second Network?

Sep 28, 2012

I'm a newb at this stuff and hope someone will take pity on me and point me in the right direction? In a nutshell, we run a SBS2008 server at work with 20 users. Our company has a domain name which, via DNS hosting is pointed to our static IP. Email address's are handled via the server using Exchange 2007. Documents and files are stored on a data drive on the server (lets call it Server 1). We have now setup a second business with a different domain. I now have 10 users who will need access to the files on Server 1, but will run under a different domain (and need different email addresses) and need to have access to files stored on Server 1 and the new Server 2. The current setup is simple. ADSL comes into the server room and goes to a modem/wireless. From there it goes to the server which handles the DHCP. The server is in turn connected to a 24 port switch which then feeds the workstationsI have access to purchase another server and whatever hardware is required. No amount of Googling matches my scenario hence my question. What I'm really after is a mudmap showing setup or the right way to set this up

Adding Printer To Wireless Network?

Mar 3, 2011

I am not a tech person, so I apologize if this is a dumb question. Tech supportme because no one wants to comment on if/how to attach equipment manufactured by some other company.I have a wireless home network using a Netgear DGN2280 router/modem. I also have an HP Officejet 5800 printer that I would like to add to the network. This is a USB printer that DOES NOT have a network card of any kind.I have heard of a print server, and know that it obviously has to do with hooking a printer to a network, but don't know if it will work in my application. Will this work for me?I just now noticed that there is a USB port on the back of the router/modem. can I hook my printer up to that port (and leave it hooked up) and print across the wireless network? I don't care if my printer has to be wired to something. I would just prefer that my laptop not have to be wired directly to the printer.

Adding WAP To Network Kills Wired Speed?

Massive video stutters, music stops etc. I measured it using a PC on the end of the cable instead of the PS3 and it came out at about 1.4Mbps using 'LAN Speed Test'[CODE]
